It's been a while since I listened to this album and at the time I was severely depressed, anxious and lost! I've always turned to music to raise my spirits but only now, listening again now that the cloud has passed over that I am able to fully realise and HEAR what Ben has delivered to us. This album is so beautiful, uplifting, a voice for the voiceless, empowering!! To whoever reads this comment, you are who you've been looking for all this time, self-love is key!! I love you all and YOU ARE WORTHY!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you Ben Howard
Mama Aya just reading it as I'm going through a tough period of my life, with ups and downs, feeling lost etc.. Thank you for your post, it's really uplifting! Only recently listened to this song. Left me reflecting on my past opportunities and lessons. I gained so much experience, from almost losing my battle with depression and suicidal thoughts, being overweight and overworked with life. Being a father too. 4 years ago depression hit and I attempted suicide twice. Something grabbed me and made me fight. I've lost so much weight, become emotionally, mentally and physically stronger, have an amazing relationship with my daughter. Although I lost my wife, career, house I've gained so much more. Keep your heart strong we've got this in such a difficult world full of beauty ❤

One of my all-time favorites. I've had clinical depression for most of my life, and this song captures how good it feels when you come back out of your low places into the sunlight again 🙂
No kidding, I just found this song recently and it's hitting a lot of the cords in my heart. Someone saying they're happy to have you home when you're out of the thick of it is also a very beautiful message. Hope you're well.

I can never get through this without bawling my eyes out. I almost killed myself a little while ago. And I was a suicidal drug addict for many many years. Not too long ago I got sober with ayahuasca and now my feelings are on. Oh boy, are they switched back on. All of them. I can feel joy now and real happiness for the first time in my life. This song reminds me of that shift. I retuned from the brink - a different person. There is love where there was once hate. It feels so good to just be alive now. And to cry is such a release. Huge love too all of you out there.....🙌✨❤️
@@MrBungle900 You are welcome and just remember you are never alone. Being present in life is the most amazing feeling living in the moment is what life is all about. Once its switched back on you can never go back only onwards and upwards. Good luck with everything you do. 😘👍

There's always a tomorrow In which we can find redemption and salvation For the choices , mistakes and regrets made today Find hope and strength in faith As fate will guide your soul...
"Keep your head up and your mind strong" is tattooed down my arm after listening to song and feeling inspired and yes I know it's not the lyrics. The philosophy of keeping your mind and heart strong is something so important to life I struggle to take my own advice sometimes hence the tattoo to remind me what's important and what j need to do to have a substantial life with fulfilment and joy at the forefront at all times
Happy 40th mò charà ❤ I too enjoy reading d comments whilst listening to this song its so uplifting Hold on and keep ur head up Time great healer lost dad an brother to suicide mum to heart attack but make most most of what u have, memories and photographs live on wit on forever 💙 live from Dublin
This song reminds me that despite all the bad things that happen in this world, there is still joy and happiness to be found in the simple things in life.
This song has helped me get through difficulties in my personal life, makes me emotional when I listen to it but it’s a reminder that I should never give up.
Keep your head up was part of my son's funeral.i didn't know the song, but his younger brother chose it . I always felt my son would always help and listen to any of his friends but didn't accept help. We lost him in 2021
When this came out I was 16 and life was good. This was a pleasantly cheerful, uplifting song. In the years after that, I got into a bad place, and the words of the chorus were a small light in the darkness that kept me going. When that darkness finally passed, the verses got through and formed an intense emotional rollercoaster. It's been years, and I still can't sing along to this song without tearing up while singing: 'I said I'd been away, and he knew the depths I was meaning'. Absolutely incredible song.
Bought this album on a whim when it 1st came out over 10yrs ago. Still have it. Learned every word of every song. Lots of memories. So good. Keep your heads up.. Peace and love.
Its amazing cause what I saw from it was people doing hard work, their faces were not happy or just slightly content, but the work looked like something I wouldn't personally do. But in the end they made something incredible, and when they experienced it they had so much joy because they made it. The song really compliments the music video. Even though your going through struggles for something in the long run, and even if it looks like your not getting close to that goal you just got to keep your head up, keep your heart strong, and keep your mind set. Great music video.
I spent my time watchin' the spaces that have grown between us. And I cut my mind on second best or the scars that come with the greeness. And I gave my eyes to the boredom, still the seabed wouldn't let me in, And I tried my best to embrace the darkness in which I swim. I'm walkin' back down this mountain With the strength of a turnin' tide Oh the wind's so soft on my skin, The sun so hard upon my side. Oh lookin' out at this happiness, I search for between the sheets. Oh feelin' blind and realize, All I was searchin' for was me. Ooh all I was searchin' for was me. Keep your head up, keep your heart strong. No, no, no, no. Keep your mind set, keep your hair long. Oh my my darlin' keep your head up, keep your heart strong. No no no no, keep your mind set in your ways, keep your heart strong. I saw a friend of mine the other day, And he told me that my eyes were gleamin'. Oh I said I had been away, and he knew, Oh he knew the depths I was meanin'. And it felt so good to see his face, Or the comfort invested in my soul. Oh to feel the warmth of a smile, When he said "I'm happy to have you home. Ooh I'm happy to have you home." Yeah, keep your head up, keep your heart strong. Oh, no, no, no, no. Keep your mind set, keep you hair long. Oh my my darlin', keep your head up, keep you heart strong. No no no no, keep your mind set in your ways, Keep your heart strong. 'Cause I'll always remember you the same. Oh eyes like wild flowers within demons of change. May you find happiness there, May all your hopes all turn out right. Ooh may you find happiness there, May you find warmth in the middle of the night. Yeah, keep your head up, keep your heart strong.
This song will play at my funeral. Whenever I feel depressed and start losing hope in the future - Ben Howard's voice sooths my troubled mind. Thank you so, so much for this beautiful gift. And also a huge thanks to Teddy Thompson, for some strange reason he reminded me of this song.
Every time a breakdown kicks in, first instinct is to listen to Ben Howard and remember the beauty of the world. Thank you Ben for the amazing things you’ve brought to me and so many others. You turn my tears of sadness into tears of happiness
It's impossible not to smile, while watching this video. I can't remember how many times i have watched this, but it helps every time, when i am going through hard times.THANKYOU.
I listened to this song a lot when it came out. This song helped me keep my head above the water. To all in the same boat I was, it does get better. Perservere.
I got sober 5 yrs ago and I played this song when I came out of rehab every day for a long time. It made me cry but it helped keep me sober. I still come back to it every now and again no matter how I feel 🙏
"I said I'd been away, and he knew Oh he knew the depths I was meanin'" uff this line gets me every time. Having friends who can read between the lines and know what you're saying without having to say all the bad stuff out loud = second best to not having to "be away" in the first place.
Just want to remind you all that Ben still makes music, it just isn't pushed by the radio/media. If this song hits your heart then go show his new stuff some love too
I’ve listened to this song thousands of times over the years but first time watching the video! Can’t go wrong with a homemade water slide and friends 😂
who is loving this in 2017? Honestly this song is too good to be depressed to it gives me a new meaning to life I discovered Ben howard in 2015 so glad I did.
I was wandering through Indonesia in a kind of a runaway from my routine and trying to think and put some order in my life back in 2014, when a german girl called Paula crossed my way. Unforgettable endless nights having deep and full-hearted conversations in a paradise island. The last moment before i had to continue my journey she recommend me to listen this song. Thank you for everything Paula, wherever you are
Soo addicted to this UK scene right now. Music like this is so lovely and im so happy im here to hear it. Ben Howard and Garry Bean are a cut above the rest for me. Hope they both keep making music.
My parents have been playing this album for me since it came out, and it was played all the time, whether it was a road trip, to cheer me up and so much more. I showed it to all my friends when I was able to, and decided that the thing I want to do most in my life is make a water slide thing like in the video. Three years ago my childhood friend committed suicide at 16. I wasn't able to say goodbye in the hospital, my family didn't get the message until it was too late. This song reminds me of him and the memories I have of playing with him, his sister, and my brother growing up. I miss him so much, so I listen to this song late at night and it gives me some hope of being happier.
Over this past month this song has grown in importance to me. Life has dealt me a few serious blows and this song is one of the only things that actually convinces me to keep going. Such a perfect song both the wake up to and fall asleep to.
I got sober 5 yrs ago and I played this song when I came out of rehab every day for a long time. It made me cry but it helped keep me sober. I still come back to it every now and again no matter how I feel. It's a fuckin inspirational masterpiece🙏
I'm a remedial massage therapist, last night I had a client that opted to play their own music, they picked Ben Howard. One of the best 1hr massages ive done. And now I'm here, reliving his classics.
After a year of battling depression my mum has finally come out the other side, I’d play this song to remind her that things will be okay. Remember people you are not alone, if your going through shit things will be okay 🙏🏼
Did anyone else think Ben Howard was a big hairy middle aged guy before they saw him? His voice and lyrics are so much more mature than he looks, love it.
This song saved my life. Thank you Ben and band. I had been a fan of Bens for awhile, but I knew he wasn't as well known. During my darkest day I was surrounded by happy people in what others would call paradise, but I was lost in my own world. All I could think about was throwing myself into the ocean and this song came on over the radio. There's no reason it should have been playing where it was and at that time, it just didn't fit the atmosphere. That's the first time I thought, maybe I'm here for a reason.
Of course, this man here sings so good and sounds amazing and has got some really shit hot lyrics. I just dont know why a million people has not been here i just dont know why, im confused hahaha!
Great music comes from the UK. One day i'll move to that little island and listen to Ben Howard and "Noah Clouds With handfuls of dust and broken stones" on repeat.
Hey Ben, if you notice a huge jump in sales of this song or CD, please give a moment of silence. One of the greatest guys in the world, was takin a cab home late one night & his cab got hit by a young drunk driver, killed my dear friend instantly :( This was his fav song & I love it. It's almost like he left us a little gift cause this song is inspirational, with a positive message & the video is so fun!! That describes Jonny perfectly. At 33 this successful & a wonderful human, that the world needs more of. He left us with this to remember him. It's an amazing song & here in this small city of RedDeer Alberta, everyone is playing this song in memory of Jon & cause we love it. He always had great taste in music! Love you Jonny, until we meet again my dear friend
I reckon your friend is now part of a much larger expanse of Consciousness. He probably is aware of how you feel and thinks " keep your head up and your heart strong"
What do you think this song is about? I think its about coming back to that place you love with the people you love. Being in a circumstance that you have felt almost lost in that on returning to that place - a pub you and your mates always met in, your home town where you went to school, just being able to see an old friend/friends, - feeling that feeling that you had as a kid with them and all the fun and this giving you the strength to continue in your journey. Anyone else?
Listened to this song after getting off a life support machine tried taking my own life. Song gave me motivation to get up and keep going, it’s okay to lose yourself some times just make sure you get back up 💕💕
I'm listening this music daily, like a positive mantra. All i was searching for was me! We are One! Keep your Head Up, Keep Your Heart Strong... lalalalala =) Namasté
In the first part of the song and video, he is building but he is building alone. And he is lost though he is trying, lost to the extent that he wanders off down a path with a bale, far off the mark. Then, when he says that he saw a friend of his the other day, the songs shifts to optimism as he builds with the help of others, reaping the fruits of communal labour. Howard is saying that you can't recover alone; you need a community. And it is that community who sees his "eyes were gleamin'," as if to say that you need others in order to recognize the depths in yourself. In the end, he recalls his old self -- "I'll always remember you the same / ... with your demons of change" -- now that he has changed, he has recovered, and the joy he has worked for is fragile, true, but his, genuinely his.
heard this song in a soundtrack for a (btw brilliant) German comedy - found it in credits and now it's among the few in my 'one in a million' collection. One gold for the music, two more for the message. I just cried when I listened. True beauty moves my heart like that. And I'm not ashamed to admit that. Nuts? Don't care. Can't help feelings.
The chorus of this song means absolutely everything now because of what the whole world is going through at present and what we'll all be going through for a long time by the looks of it.This song should be re-released.
I try to process my thoughts as I watch this video, I mostly feel happy and light and grateful, and even playful... and I just pray... that the past doesn't get in the way of my happiness... and that all my stresses don't overwhelm me... that they may all just dissolve into the nothingness from which they came... and... there's a person I want... fuck, I have such a HUGE damn crush on this person!! and I just want them to want me, just as I am. to need me, to love me, to hold me, to desire me, to kiss me, to belong to me... to long for me... I pray for true love.
We first heard this track while travelling through the Arizona desert after our air-condition broke and it was like 45 degrees Celsius. This chorus gave goosebumps to everyone in the van. Will always remind me of how fucking lucky we are to be living and following our dreams. Live yo life!!!
September 5th 2021 the day after my wife left with our 3 kids. There was nothing I could do to change her mind and it came as such a surprise because she was acting like everything was fine, though she already knew she was leaving too. Just wish she would have told me so I could have said proper goodbyes. Everything will be alright in time. Thank you. Love you. ❤

Cheers to Harry; the best teacher ever! ❤
I love this Album. All I was searching for was me. Still searching. Am 60
Do. Not. Go. Gentle.
+drunkenboxersack Into that good night
i have on my right arm keep your head up and left arm and your heart strong listen to this song almost everyday
Great words lee ;)
lee robinson love this
This song genuinely saved my life. I would've almost killed myself if this song didn't exist. Thanks Ben Howard, you unintentionally saved a life.
WorldReligion keep fighting soldier
Keep strong. There is always a better answer then suicide.
Who's to say he did it unintentionally

It is so comforting to read all the comments about keep your head up 🥲. I miss my son sooo much. He would have been 40 this year. My heart is broken 💔

This song reminds me that despite all the bad things that happen in this world, there is still joy and happiness to be found in the simple things in life.
The feeling I get listening to this song is how I want to feel my entire life.
This song helped me through my hard and difficult days thank you ☦️❤️
This man was, is and will always remain a legend. Untouchable in this little unique genre he’s pioneered by himself
This song has helped me get through difficulties in my personal life, makes me emotional when I listen to it but it’s a reminder that I should never give up.
always keep ur head up
The sound, the lyrics and the video make me happy in a very special way
Keep your head up was part of my son's funeral.i didn't know the song, but his younger brother chose it .
My dad used to play this a lot, he stopped for about 8 years, then played it again a few days ago. Lovely song
This hits different when you haven’t heard it for 4 years.
Somehow we are all connected to stories we all experience in a different way.
Oh yes.
Hits even harder after 9 years
Try eight. 👍
Same. Man. It hits different as you get older.
Bought this album on a whim when it 1st came out over 10yrs ago. Still have it. Learned every word of every song. Lots of memories. So good. Keep your heads up.. Peace and love.
at 1:45 the way he sings “and he knew” is just so perfect. you can really feel the emotion behind it.
Great music video.
well said.
I spent my time watchin' the spaces that have grown between us.
And I cut my mind on second best or the scars that come with the greeness.
And I gave my eyes to the boredom, still the seabed wouldn't let me in,
And I tried my best to embrace the darkness in which I swim.
I'm walkin' back down this mountain
With the strength of a turnin' tide
Oh the wind's so soft on my skin,
The sun so hard upon my side.
Oh lookin' out at this happiness,
I search for between the sheets.
Oh feelin' blind and realize,
All I was searchin' for was me.
I saw a friend of mine the other day,
And he told me that my eyes were gleamin'.
Oh I said I had been away, and he knew,
Oh he knew the depths I was meanin'.
And it felt so good to see his face,
Or the comfort invested in my soul.
Oh to feel the warmth of a smile,
When he said "I'm happy to have you home.
Ooh I'm happy to have you home."
Yeah, keep your head up, keep your heart strong.
Oh, no, no, no, no.
Keep your mind set, keep you hair long.
Oh my my darlin', keep your head up, keep you heart strong.
No no no no, keep your mind set in your ways,
Keep your heart strong.
'Cause I'll always remember you the same.
Oh eyes like wild flowers within demons of change.
May you find happiness there,
May all your hopes all turn out right.
Ooh may you find happiness there,
May you find warmth in the middle of the night.
All I can say is thank you . You have saved many of us with this song xxx
Every time a breakdown kicks in, first instinct is to listen to Ben Howard and remember the beauty of the world. Thank you Ben for the amazing things you’ve brought to me and so many others. You turn my tears of sadness into tears of happiness
You're welcome
Am glad I have been able to put smile on your face
This song feels like a big hug 🥺💔 So much needed
It's impossible not to smile, while watching this video. I can't remember how many times i have watched this, but it helps every time, when i am going through hard times.THANKYOU.
YEsh, very well said.
"I said I'd been away, and he knew
Oh he knew the depths I was meanin'" uff this line gets me every time.
Having friends who can read between the lines and know what you're saying without having to say all the bad stuff out loud = second best to not having to "be away" in the first place.
🙂
Just want to remind you all that Ben still makes music, it just isn't pushed by the radio/media. If this song hits your heart then go show his new stuff some love too
Good

I’ve listened to this song thousands of times over the years but first time watching the video! Can’t go wrong with a homemade water slide and friends 😂
who is loving this in 2017?
Honestly this song is too good to be depressed to it gives me a new meaning to life I discovered Ben howard in 2015 so glad I did.
I am...try my song Ocean on my channel if you like Ben Howard....you may like!
2018 going on 2019 ( December)

Listening to this in 2021
This song gives me strength. I'm so grateful this exists.
Completely.
Love Ben, not heard too much of Garry Bean's stuff. Northern town reminds me of a mate I lost though. Brings me close too tears.
check out ray lamontagne, you might like him too
I am Dutch and totaly agree!
also check out Frank Turner - he has a great NPR tiny desk session :)
Exactly what I'm thinking
Hope things are better for you now. X
Andrew Neary feeling the same.
I hope every one here has a beautiful, fruitful life
I had the privilege of watching him perform from sidestage this summer... didn't know who he was back then, but no doubt he's a very talented artist
??? what where did u see ben
Northside festival in Denmark
Ben Howard is so disgustingly underrated. The guys a genius.
I got sober 5 yrs ago and I played this song when I came out of rehab every day for a long time. It made me cry but it helped keep me sober. I still come back to it every now and again no matter how I feel. It's a fuckin inspirational masterpiece🙏
It's down memorylane bro
That's so good to read, brother! Keep ya head up!
My teacher meet him she told me lol
Strength brother
I'm still drinking but like the song....bifffff
I'm a remedial massage therapist, last night I had a client that opted to play their own music, they picked Ben Howard. One of the best 1hr massages ive done. And now I'm here, reliving his classics.
After a year of battling depression my mum has finally come out the other side, I’d play this song to remind her that things will be okay. Remember people you are not alone, if your going through shit things will be okay 🙏🏼
This song was a big hug for me for a long time. Hearing it today brings up so many emotions!
Did anyone else think Ben Howard was a big hairy middle aged guy before they saw him? His voice and lyrics are so much more mature than he looks, love it.
No. You're just weird.
His voice doesn't sound like that of a middle-aged man.
AnimeFreak43511 ok
yeeeeeeeesssss like a sam beam or william fitzsimmons haha

*No.*

Anyone listening in 2019? ✨
Deffo
scary how far away we are from god just 8 years later
Not any more!
@@pawjabes2847 leave religion out of this and please just enjoy the music
Of course, this man here sings so good and sounds amazing and has got some really shit hot lyrics. I just dont know why a million people has not been here i just dont know why, im confused hahaha!

I think it was Zappa who said 'singing is just screaming with heart'
Great music comes from the UK. One day i'll move to that little island and listen to Ben Howard and "Noah Clouds With handfuls of dust and broken stones" on repeat.

“I said I’d been away, and he knew the depths I was meaning”
“It felt so good to see his face and the comfort invested in my soul”
Damn...
There's something haunting about his voice... in love with his music
Love you Jonny, until we meet again my dear friend
this just made me cry.
I reckon your friend is now part of a much larger expanse of Consciousness. He probably is aware of how you feel and thinks " keep your head up and your heart strong"
Christopher James that gave me chills....Whats even weirder is my brother is name Christopher James !!!
Totally agree :)
The song is about depression.
without this Album.. Gods know if I would be around still... Thank you Guys ...
This video is very aesthetically pleasing
Nice word
yes, life enhancing
Listened to this song after getting off a life support machine tried taking my own life. Song gave me motivation to get up and keep going, it’s okay to lose yourself some times just make sure you get back up 💕💕
I'm listening this music daily, like a positive mantra.
All i was searching for was me! We are One!
Keep your Head Up, Keep Your Heart Strong... lalalalala =)

Books from
In the first part of the song and video, he is building but he is building alone.
Best comment I've read on you tube. Excellent analysis
heard this song in a soundtrack for a (btw brilliant) German comedy - found it in credits and now it's among the few in my 'one in a million' collection.

Nice lyric there! All I was searching for, was me. ❤️💫🙏🏽
So much great music comes from the UK. One day i'll move there. Listening to Ben Howard and "Noah Clouds Love is not enough" on repeat.

+Lucy Ren Haha its a good song but did they pay you to basically advertise their song ? looks like it, have seen you advertising the song all over !
Stay safe everyone.
Ben Howard, where have you been all my life!?
Nooo, mine!! :D
I try to process my thoughts as I watch this video,
I mostly feel happy and light and grateful,
and even playful... and I just pray...
that the past doesn't get in the way
of my happiness...
and that all my stresses don't overwhelm me...
that they may all just dissolve
into the nothingness from which they came...
and...
there's a person I want...
fuck, I have such a HUGE
damn crush on this person!!
and I just want them to want me,
just as I am. to need me, to love me, to hold me,
to desire me, to kiss me, to belong to me...
to long for me...
45 degrees? Mate, come to Australia in Summer! In Summer, 45 degrees is the average temperature in some places.
Nice comment dude 👊

Me too... heavily depressed and now in a program. This song remembers me of the real me.
Thank you. Love you. ❤
I listen to this after a long day working as a nurse in an acute psych ward.
Scary time but music helps me through.
We salute you
Keep safe
God bless you 🙏
