For all new players, don't play online on PC. Play the the story game, you will not regret it. I will not go into details. Let's just say R* don't care for online players.

I literally play online with quite a few people including MULTIPLE 50-60 year old women that all managed to earn enough to buy all roles and pamphlets in a pretty short amount of time.
This game is miserable by yourself but with friends there’s so much dumb and fun stuff you can do. This had the potential to be on par with GTA online but they somehow made almost every mistake possible. Also as a side note I feel like dead servers are entirely a PC problem since I play on Xbox and PlayStation and I constantly get into servers with at least a couple dozen people in them.

It isn't a PC problem. I think it is more of a 'I want views by making a rant video with the least possible effort' problem. Notice this guy has not even completed existing content but goes on to whine about 'no content'. It is just low effort echo chamber crap review.
The reason he was finding empty servers is because PC players can use task manager to pause processes on RDR2 for 8-12 seconds, and it puts you into your own lobby. A lot of people do this to avoid hackers, other players, etc when they don't want to be bothered, so there's a lot more servers with few people in them
I've also came back to play it after years and had a little fun with Bounty Hunting alone, I just repeated the Legendary ones because I did all them by myself and each pay like $222,00 to 300,00. The most fun I had was with the Telegram Survival Missions, that are good and fun to play with friends and you get rewarded with $ 530,00 and 1 gold bar if you survive all 10 waves of enemies.
Moonshining is actually really profitable and my favorite role besides bounty hunting, when you put in the time and upgrade it, you get like 270 bucks per batch sold normally depending on the moonshine recipes you have and there's also reward bonuses sometimes and I remember getting 300-500 per batch sold when the reward bonus is on
if you collect all collectibles in 1 day, yes its a gridn i know, but i ve done it multiple times ending up with between 3K and 4K. you can even in between do like 5 etta doyle missions for free 200 dollars and 0.4 gold. along with dailies you get tons of money and gold.
The posse leader makes 245$ and that with the strong 3 star moonshine recipes. Members make about 90$. The 3 start recipes each use one item from the collector role: Agarita, Creek Plum, Caribbean Rum, and Absinthe. Traders, however, the leader makes 625$ for a full, long distance wagon. Each member gets half that amount. I usually do a few moonshine collector ingredient runs and collect what I can around each item, start a 3 star batch then go to Harriet for the legendary pelts to fill my materials for the trade wagon and smash a few bounties out in between
for trader, just do short distance sale. you ll always get 200 xp anyway, you re not getting more xp. also dont use the medium or big wagon, it doesnt matter only for the amount of money it matters. in terms of xp it doesnt matter. which sucks. bigger wagon with more goods should mean more xp. bu tno , its all the same shitty 200 xp. get the fuck outta here. and besides, did we buy red dead redemption to play rpg? or to be a fucking outlaw? imagine real life cowboys picking flowers and collectables instead of making actual money by robbing trains and such... common dude. this shit is just terrible .@@tobyd8199

My PS4 lobbies are always full. Just got the game in May and it's the best game I ever played by a wide margin. Start with collector by the time you get everything once you'll be rank 20 collector and have a bunch of money, then get your trader or bounty hunter license. The collector role will teach you the map including all legendary animal locations. Me and my friends are having a blast with it, and the new telegram missions are really good and free aim only. If you don't have friends you can still matchmake
Well you have friends to help you earn gold, but I’d say for a solo player, they should get bounty hunter role so they can earn gold for other roles too
Well you can also do the trader or the collector role together with doing blood money missions that also pay gold. Don't forget about doing your daily missions to get some extra gold. And also, remember to reset your awards when you've finished them, the majority you can do 10 times and each time you reset them you get 0.4 gold.
I just recently came to RDR2 and really love the single player mode. I have also tried the online mode. At first it was fun when I played the story missions. But there are just a few of them. The roles (I have only played as bounty hunter and collector due to the insane amount of gold you need to buy a role) are quite boring. There are some npcs that offer short missions, but you can finish each of them in few minutes. And then there are the hackers and cheaters that can make playing the game insufferable.
You need way to much money to do anything in general. I don‘t even understand how you make that much money and then you spend all your net worth acquired in 3 hours for one t-shirt.

I'll be honest, if it is as empty as you say then that's good for me. I just want to enjoy the game world more outside of the story, not really planning on doing any pvp. So, if this means i can do stuff in peace, then that's a-okay for me.

But, i had tried the online aspect since. Didn’t really have the same magic as the story mode. So, in the end I’ll probably just follow your advice anyway.
Switch your MTU settings on your console to 800. You will be put into a solo lobby. I play solo lobby all the time unless I feel like bounty hunting griefers (or just generally hunting them for fun)
From my experience this game is alot more fun with friends. I still play it almost everyday with my group and we always have a great time. Also its really not dead. I find full lobbies each time i play. It has a pretty dedicated player base.
Omg! I thought I was the only person seeing double players after a mission, and not hearing the satisfying coin sound after collecting an item in the Collector's role. For shooting the sedatives there is a sound that goes off right after you shoot enough sedatives. It's like a loud echo. Once you hear that you can stop shooting and just following it till it falls asleep.
Everytime i log in to RDO i always spawn in a lobby full of players and war then theres some people just hunting, shooting npcs or just doing missions, i cant relate to rdo being boring, dead or empty of players. even tho i have played rdo all the way since release, there has never been a boring day in rdo tho
if you keep them low you’ll have some fun. The pvp is miserable and the missions are a bore. the other stuff like new tools and gadgets, aswell as the hunting experience, is absolutely awesome. The online does zero heavy lifting in terms of making it fun for you. it’s what you make of it and you have to be into role play type of shit to enjoy it. It’s also awesome having your own camp even tho everything is way too pricey. anyways have fun!
Yo to get a good starter you should enable 2 step verification for your rockstar account, then your rdr2 (it can take up to 72 hours) online will give you 10 gold bars and I suggest to only use it to buy roles for the meantime
@@MisterFroddo The main story mission, stranger intro missions and moonshiner mini story missions were really enjoyable. The "online" part in RDO for me could easily have been to roll out mini stories to play as your own created character. On PC at least you can very simply create a solo lobby, and that's the way I've played the game ever since I found out about it. Other players, griefers, hackers, modders, screetchers just ruin the immersion for me.
I even like to play on private lobby just doing the mission, hunting, as if it was a sandbox. When I get bored I join some public server and play with other players, and the lobby is always full.

I suggest you download Lobby Manager, don't need install, and you can play on a solo lobby, and there's a ton of thing to do, like stranger missions, enemy camps, and so on. Is very fun. But public is nice too.
i just got this game like a week ago and ive been enjoying it, other than the fact i played for 20 hours to get bounty hunter and the payouts are that much better, maybe i need more levels or something tho
It’s much better with friends because it’s not the kind of game where you constantly need to be doing missions but can have fun hunting with communication (like herding Bison to each other to get the most amount of pelts or duck hunting) or go fishing on a boat or just go around looking for collectibles in some interesting spots on the map and once you unlock explosive arrows there’s a whole new level of potential 😏
I can agree that the content is not fulfilling enough, but I still find it fun for similar reasons. Having a couple mates on and travelling to guarma using glitches, or shooting players from the render distance in Valentine let's us enjoy the game's unintended pleasures. We rarely take part in the actual "content" so I suppose red dead's entertainment potential directly correlates with how good you are at entertaining yourself 😅

Worse than ever! Last week in trade route , I got lassoed and dragged out of bound and then booted. Today on Trade route I hid in a boxcar and got called out viciously, every name but my real one, by some guy for not participating and he was going to report me to rockstar. Other players must have got bored of his yammering and lassoed him and then I D-Bowed him. Oh yeah , he said he's reporting the chick in pink that lassoed him. Lol!! So yeah, I'm doing a lot of 800 mtu playing.

@@seanmackey8552 There is a group of hackers / griefers who are on every single trade route, -RE4PER, --LUCCO--, PAG (Paganated) and two or three others in their posse use infinite dynamite arrows, lassos and thrown dynamite to push everyone off the train, they dont care about getting the goods, just trolling people. I have sent videos of this BS to rockstar and they really dont seem to care. There is an example on my page from last night. ( im not promoting my channel, its just for sending cheaters exposed to rockstar) so you can see exactly the things they are doing. You have to be a masochist to play online w PC. This example is only one of many hacker trolls ive experienced in RDO PC. The game could be so incredible if Rockstar actually cleaned it up but they seem to only care about those who steal gold from chests, and hackers know the limit so they dont get attention. The thing with that is, they spawn chests for new people, knowing they will get them banned. They also can follow you through lobbies so there is no escape.
Honestly as someone with 3k hours on this game it’s absolutely pitiful and it’s disgusting how much the company neglects it. They don’t care to fix glitches or off radar and the payouts on all these missions are absolutely terrible they need to shut these servers off if they won’t update it
Have you ever calculated your price per hour? You think it's pitiful and disgusting that a game was able to reach such a low number, knowing that lower is better for $/h? Rockstar gave you a quality product that was finished and amazing and for the single player alone, the $/h is insanely low. They then offered you the chance to play online if that suits your fancy, which you imbibed for 3000 hours, or a year and a half's worth of a full time job, and you still think it's disgusting? Since you're claiming to be so honest, how about you admit that you find it unfortunate that Rockstar dropped it, but considering they have yet to supply a product for which the single player doesn't hold it's own as a chart topper and supplied you with a 40 hour play week for one third of the time rdr2 has been in existence, it is far from pitiful or disgusting?

I got sick of GTA because I ended up finding it so stressful and realised I had never actually played rdr online before. I thought finally I've found a sort of relaxing online game which has incredible detail, but then realised Rockstar had given up on it. It was such a beautiful game 😢. Rockstar really messed up on this one!!
Part of the problem is, when you have some online map on a second monitor to find collectables instead of exploring. It's a bad example, I know (better one would be to wait until 10 seconds before mission is over). Do you play because you want to get immersed into the role of an outlaw 200 years ago or st along the line or do you play for the gratification that some number on your top right screen provides you ? Honestly, I don't blame the developers for turning classics like Fallout, Diablo or GTA into Open World Candy Crush clones. If I would see a player exploiting some bug for hours on end to gain exp instead of going out into the world I designed for him and face the challenges I created, I would probably give up as well and just implement some sugarcoated transaction button to get it all over with.
The positive effect they had on players was that a few modders helped them gain high amount of money in short time by spawning treasure chests in front of them. Since Rockstar left the RDO, it is easy and probably safe to earn money with modders help. I earned like 15.000 dollars thanks to them and that money helped me a lot. But yeah you’re right. Some modders are quite abusive. Only solution is to jump into another session

The hackers are annoying as hell, but i see players all the time and sometimes have some really wholesome interactions. The game is also overall very relaxing in a way that other games just arent and i love the atmosphere. Easily still one of my favorites and i spend a lot of time in it. I do wish they would finish the actual online story and give us new content instead of just the monthly stuff even tho that is also nice.

I recently tried to play Red dead online- after falling in love with single player (got it on release- took a month off work to play it) and I 100% agree- I didnt even bother trying to do any of those jobs- all I did was wander around trying to just TALK to people and see if I could join them- but upon doing so- found nothing but jerks and hackers. its a dead game- PLUS- single player feels far more alive than online- online is a barren waste land that barely loads in anything. After my not so fun wandering around- I joined a game of poker thinks "FINALLY! I can at least have some fun playing REAL people- the NPC's won't be able to cheat their way into an impossible hand." and then what do I find? NO VOICE CHAT!? ARE YOU SERIOUS?! That was the final straw- refund.
Newbie and late comer to RDO. I personally love it. All I hear is Rockstar doesn’t care about it’s customers. I dunno about that. I just know I can log in, play a coup,e of hours, and mostly have a lot of fun. There are challenges, team and solo. There are all sorts of other players to interact with. The server can be won,y at times, but every online game I have played has that issue. I get lit up in pvp a lot, but I have fun and after a couple,e of hours, I fee l like i had fun. So, in my opinion the game rocks.
Idk about u but hunting specific animals and laying bait out and waiting for the perfect 3 star tp show up its just breathtaking over reality right now.
Trader makes $625 per long delivery and stuff all work for it. If members of your posse come along for the ride each one gets $312 when delivered as well. Easy money.
Picked this back up over the weekend after years of absence. Prior to the absence, I maxed all the available roles and yes collecting was by far the easiest and most profitable (by a mile) way to make bank. Anyway, picked it back up and am still impressed by all the details and interactions. Sat down to a game of poker (I never cared for it) because I was bored and ended up having a blast. It is a shame that Rockstar doesn't see the goldmine they have but let's just face facts. More people want to live out a gangster/ride or die fantasy than enjoy a slower simpler western cowboy one.
Every time I do a bounty and it’s a search area mission I just circle the area from the edge of the circle and work around inward looking everywhere it’s so much faster than using the hints (most of the time)
The release of the Naturalist role was it for me. I wanted to be a gunslinger or a law man. Rob banks and trains. Rockstar decided we needed to hug trees and track animals. Now, multiple aspects of the game are broken and have remained broken for years now. What a waste.
you can actually pass roadblocks without killing agents if you're not drunk and drive carefully, then the only thing that can damage the wagon and affect your reward is your driving
@@BadMothaKalashnikov I agree it's quicker but then they'll start chasing you, and you'll risk taking damage by being shot at or driving too fast, while passing the roadblock you can take it easy. depending on the route it can make all the difference. since I found that out I forgot what it's like to damage that wagon
@@MumboDjango No look you slow down and get off the wagon before they are even in range to really see/shoot you. Then it takes mere seconds to shoot them all and move on. You can loot them but don't have to, especially if high level character then it probably a waste of time to do that. No damage to the wagon when I use this method. When I start Moonshine, I call my Horse over and I equip Carcano Rifle and Pump-Action Shotgun, then make horse flee.
@@MumboDjango Well there is a delay regarding that, but yes a few chase you. Again it's "key" that you get the weapons you're very good with off your horse as soon as a moon-shine delivery starts. So you have them while on the wagon. What you can't shoot behind you and drive whilst staying on the road all at the same time? Jeesh.
I think its good that if you take longer for a mission you get more as reward. This is how the game was designed like in the single player slow paced gameplay and the opposite to gta which i like. It would destroy the game if you get more money if you do it as fast as possible.
I don't get the prices, why couldn't they have made it realistic? Like get pennies for the jobs or things you sell, and then having a nice handgun cost 20 dollars or something. For a game that cares so much about its setting, those prices are ridiculous
For Trader, carcasses are better than pelts. the highest material number for an animal if you don't have naturalist is Panthers/Cougars, for common spawns Bucks have the most. Then deer and Pronghorns. Fill hunting wagon w three star deers and youll fill that bar up in no time. For medium sized animals looks for snakes, muskrats and possums. And I dont know if its a bug, but feathers (3x) of three star Herons, Spoonbills, Cranes, Vultures, Hawks, Eagles/ Big Birds have more materials than the Bird carcass itself. 1.5*3 feather materials than just 5 for a perfect bird carcass. So its best to pluck them and save the medium animal saddle slots for snakes and possums. When you max out trader just order the supplies.
I just like the game, playing online feels like u actually live in that year. Overall, its fun to play with friends once a while. Or just explore the rdr world repeatedly 🤣

when playing Online I could not be less interested in dealing with other players, especially the rampage trainer cheaters, so I spend literally all my time in Ambarino, with Colter acting really as my main area of operations, I talk to Flaco and the Adlers for cash, use Colters fast travel for supplies, and can usually get decent food supply off the moose, bears, wolves, deer, and other animals in the region, Cripps and my camp is just a fast travel to Wapiti away and I've managed to get on better staying outside of the big towns.
I play almost every other day, Been playing since release... high level, all pamphlets, weapons, all 5 roles & stable full of various horses..... Yep in 2023 still playing & enjoying as ever😁💯🤘🏻 Also sounds like you've just started playing....😂 just play the damn great game 😅
You do realize you're the outlier right? Good for you you've enjoyed the game playing it as consistently as you have, the problem is that most people don't feel the same. It's not about "just enjoy the great game", that's just your opinion and most don't agree that rdro is great. Many of the base game mechanics are a downgrade from GTA online, especially mission structure and payouts. Makes the gameplay loop feel tedious and repetitive, no matter how much variation you try. It's a beautiful handcrafted world with basically no reason to live in it.

For new players. Unless you have a friend that's high level already. Don't try it. High level trader is cash money but it takes a lot to get there. Let the high level bring you with them on high level missions. It's really fun with a friend group.

What amazes me is that you weren't being continuously tormented by hackers exploding you or teleporting you into the air, or dropping 33 legendary giant alligators on top of you or catching you on fire, or attacking you while invisible, or hacking your account so it looks like YOU are the hacker (to get YOU reported and banned instead of them)... it goes on and on and on.
I quit playing RD 2 online a couple years ago due to game bullying ,it got to the point where I could not get my feet on to the ground with out a group of two bullies hog tie me an sticking dynamite around me ,an when I fought back ,they reported me an filed false claims on me! I will never play RD2 ,nor a GTA game again online until Rockstar changes , however I do enjoy playing the story mode! All you have to do is take one alive with multiple bounties and get the same payout.There are more people playing on the console versions because of the mods on pc. Your pc version is way more buggy than the ps online version. I completely agree with your assessment of the trader and moonshine roles - B O R I N G. I still play it, but I'm getting bored, which makes me sad because I love the look of it. I mostly do bounties, you should have done Red Ben, who is way more exciting than stupid Etta Doyle. I amazes me that people even do that shitty Legendary Bounty. I also like Call to Arms, but I just like blasting people which probably says a bit more than I like about my current mental state. So in conclusion, you aren't too far off from wrong, but I hope the shut down doesn't happen too soon, because I still love the game and hope to keep playing it for a bit longer. Cheers!
I completely forgot about the different populations between console and PC! How could I have forgotten! for the Trader and Moonshine roles, the initial process is long and boring and not lucrative at all, but once you get to at least rank 10 in each, you can get the large delivery wagon for Trader, and the 3rd tier distillery for the moonshine and you can sell the wagons for $500/625 (short/long distance), and $470~ for the moonshine depending on the flavor. so it ends up being worth it in the end. i dont know about bounty hunting yet though. im rank 14 but just got the bounty wagon a few days ago to be able to get more than one bounty at once and havent gone back to it to farm the rank xp yet. so fingers crossed for that one.

RDR2 is not dead yet, hell I’m still running a successful crew, and yeah the prices on everything went up for a reason, because people have been glitching the system like mad. It’s not so hard to get money when you have a crew of people who are running trader sales. It’s called having friends, you should try it sometime buddy. Though I can wholeheartedly agree about his opinion on the naturalist role being absolute shit. The problem with these reviewers all over TH-cam is because of the fact that they don’t take the time, to get into it. It doesn’t become fun in one day, it’s not a game like cod, where you can just jump in and start having fun. It’s a grind, GTA doesn’t immediately give you $100 million and amazing vehicles, and endless possibilities for money, but it takes time to get to that money and fun. I know it’s not like anyone’s gonna read this comment anyway, but my argument stands.

Ok, thank you so much for this. I thought i was crazy. I thought it was my internet/pc issue. The story is so much more fun. The online mode didnt even feel like half the game story was.
I don’t really get tons of problems while playing RDO(I play on PC). I usually jump from session to session if I locate a modder at the player list. But most modders nowadays just stand on one location and do literally nothing, maybe spawning treasure chests to help people earn fast-money. There’s a very few amount of modders trying to annoy other players. I started playing this game in March 2024. And now I have 230 hours(8-9 hours on story mode), I only came across abusive modders like 3 or 5 times during my whole gameplay and I haven’t encounter any abusive modders for like a month (I play RDO everyday minimum an hour). Modders are also aware that game is rotting mostly because of them so most of them decided to give up abusing people on RDO. I don’t know you, but the ain’t really a nightmare to me. If you meet an extremely abusive modder, just jump into another session(not during paid or important missions tho)
you're NOT supposed to fight the revenue agents, you're supposed to STOP let them inspect the wagon, then you can leave peacefully again you're suppsoed to collect ALL the items from a collection THEN sell them for max profit
I think The real reason Red Dead online is really suffering is because rockstar has put everything they have into the GTA +online they've litterally left Red dead online in the dust,they probably will keep it going because the gold bar pack prices make them a lot of income
IIRC, you get .04 gold per 3 minutes spent for a job. If you turn in a bounty or complete a job at 5:59 minutes you only get paid .04 gold. If the mission only lasts 11 minutes, you waste your time waiting for the last 30 seconds because max pay ended at the 9-minute mark. Start a stopwatch on your phone as soon as the mission timer pops up and track gold payout by 3-minute increments.
I still occasionally log on and play for a while bc I love the beauty of the game. I’ve played the story more times than I can count but online is the greatest missed opportunity of any developer. Such a waste. Rockstar hates its fanbase
I have never entered an empty session nor stumbled into one a second time. There are tons of people still playing, we just don't see them on the map anymore. We only see who is close in order to cut down the griefing. More realistic this way as you can't hear or see people across the state, but it does make it harder to find people to ride with.
I only got RDR2 beginning of this year, and played the full story mode (taking my time along the way) before heading to online. Was really sad to see how the starter story just stops half way, how expensive it was to get into your first trade as a noobie, and just the sheer amount of hackers if you're playing regularly. The reporting tools are also total ass, making it hard to even pretend Rockstar is doing something about them.
Once you have completed all the roles and reached lvl 100 + and got so much money that you have brought everything in the shops that you want then there is no point in playing
1. Rdo isn't dead 2. You get about 300 dollars from legendary bounties on 3 bounty level (not including etta doyle and 1 or 2 others) 3. there are about 20 players on every lobby in rdo 4. you have to get the best moonshine stove to make more money 5. The moonshining is easy if you just even try... 6. Do you think that the collector role was better without that map? 7. You have to complete full sets of collectibles to get real money and it takes about 45 min per set 8. you are right that rockstar should update rdo 9. why would rockstar shut rdo, there are still many players on it playing it 10. you can mess around so much more in rdo than like rdr 2 sm or gta 5 online But great video LOL
In trader you don't skin them, you deposit the full body to cripps, you made that way longer than it needed to be, plus you don't have the large wagon, it's by far the best method to earn money
I have $30k and 74 in Gold. You can make money in missions when you get them leveled up. Also there are monthly initiatives such as December, you get double $$ and XP in the moonshine shack.
Not as fast as possible for bounties. They pay on time thresholds. Stay in 9 or 12 minutes. Bounties are more for gold than money. For money go trader and do large deliveries. DON'T skin the animals to hand in to crips. Give him full 3 star carcasses or legendary for best results.

I literally play online with quite a few people including MULTIPLE 50-60 year old women that all managed to earn enough to buy all roles and pamphlets in a pretty short amount of time.

This game is miserable by yourself but with friends there’s so much dumb and fun stuff you can do. This had the potential to be on par with GTA online but they somehow made almost every mistake possible.
Also as a side note I feel like dead servers are entirely a PC problem since I play on Xbox and PlayStation and I constantly get into servers with at least a couple dozen people in them.

Every server I've played on Ps5 is full.
The reason he was finding empty servers is because PC players can use task manager to pause processes on RDR2 for 8-12 seconds, and it puts you into your own lobby. A lot of people do this to avoid hackers, other players, etc when they don't want to be bothered, so there's a lot more servers with few people in them
Once you rank up trader all the way and get the large wagon, that role makes a lot of money.

I've also came back to play it after years and had a little fun with Bounty Hunting alone, I just repeated the Legendary ones because I did all them by myself and each pay like $222,00 to 300,00. The most fun I had was with the Telegram Survival Missions, that are good and fun to play with friends and you get rewarded with $ 530,00 and 1 gold bar if you survive all 10 waves of enemies.
Moonshining is actually really profitable and my favorite role besides bounty hunting, when you put in the time and upgrade it, you get like 270 bucks per batch sold normally depending on the moonshine recipes you have and there's also reward bonuses sometimes and I remember getting 300-500 per batch sold when the reward bonus is on
if you collect all collectibles in 1 day, yes its a gridn i know, but i ve done it multiple times ending up with between 3K and 4K. you can even in between do like 5 etta doyle missions for free 200 dollars and 0.4 gold. along with dailies you get tons of money and gold.
The posse leader makes 245$ and that with the strong 3 star moonshine recipes. Members make about 90$. The 3 start recipes each use one item from the collector role: Agarita, Creek Plum, Caribbean Rum, and Absinthe.
Traders, however, the leader makes 625$ for a full, long distance wagon. Each member gets half that amount.
I usually do a few moonshine collector ingredient runs and collect what I can around each item, start a 3 star batch then go to Harriet for the legendary pelts to fill my materials for the trade wagon and smash a few bounties out in between
for trader, just do short distance sale. you ll always get 200 xp anyway, you re not getting more xp. also dont use the medium or big wagon, it doesnt matter only for the amount of money it matters. in terms of xp it doesnt matter. which sucks. bigger wagon with more goods should mean more xp. bu tno , its all the same shitty 200 xp. get the fuck outta here. and besides, did we buy red dead redemption to play rpg? or to be a fucking outlaw? imagine real life cowboys picking flowers and collectables instead of making actual money by robbing trains and such... common dude. this shit is just terrible .@@tobyd8199

My PS4 lobbies are always full. Just got the game in May and it's the best game I ever played by a wide margin. Start with collector by the time you get everything once you'll be rank 20 collector and have a bunch of money, then get your trader or bounty hunter license. The collector role will teach you the map including all legendary animal locations. Me and my friends are having a blast with it, and the new telegram missions are really good and free aim only. If you don't have friends you can still matchmake
Well you have friends to help you earn gold, but I’d say for a solo player, they should get bounty hunter role so they can earn gold for other roles too

Well you can also do the trader or the collector role together with doing blood money missions that also pay gold. Don't forget about doing your daily missions to get some extra gold. And also, remember to reset your awards when you've finished them, the majority you can do 10 times and each time you reset them you get 0.4 gold.

I just recently came to RDR2 and really love the single player mode. I have also tried the online mode. At first it was fun when I played the story missions. But there are just a few of them. The roles (I have only played as bounty hunter and collector due to the insane amount of gold you need to buy a role) are quite boring. There are some npcs that offer short missions, but you can finish each of them in few minutes. And then there are the hackers and cheaters that can make playing the game insufferable.

Playing with friends, chilling and helping each other progress, is actually pretty fun, as long as you know how to get into a private server.
Switch your MTU settings on your console to 800. You will be put into a solo lobby. I play solo lobby all the time unless I feel like bounty hunting griefers (or just generally hunting them for fun)

From my experience this game is alot more fun with friends. I still play it almost everyday with my group and we always have a great time. Also its really not dead. I find full lobbies each time i play. It has a pretty dedicated player base.
Omg! I thought I was the only person seeing double players after a mission, and not hearing the satisfying coin sound after collecting an item in the Collector's role. For shooting the sedatives there is a sound that goes off right after you shoot enough sedatives. It's like a loud echo. Once you hear that you can stop shooting and just following it till it falls asleep.
Everytime i log in to RDO i always spawn in a lobby full of players and war then theres some people just hunting, shooting npcs or just doing missions, i cant relate to rdo being boring, dead or empty of players. even tho i have played rdo all the way since release, there has never been a boring day in rdo tho

if you keep them low you’ll have some fun. The pvp is miserable and the missions are a bore. the other stuff like new tools and gadgets, aswell as the hunting experience, is absolutely awesome. The online does zero heavy lifting in terms of making it fun for you. it’s what you make of it and you have to be into role play type of shit to enjoy it. It’s also awesome having your own camp even tho everything is way too pricey. anyways have fun!
Yo to get a good starter you should enable 2 step verification for your rockstar account, then your rdr2 (it can take up to 72 hours) online will give you 10 gold bars and I suggest to only use it to buy roles for the meantime
I will say, if you can find some friends, online is a ton of fun compared to playing online alone
@@MisterFroddo The main story mission, stranger intro missions and moonshiner mini story missions were really enjoyable. The "online" part in RDO for me could easily have been to roll out mini stories to play as your own created character. On PC at least you can very simply create a solo lobby, and that's the way I've played the game ever since I found out about it. Other players, griefers, hackers, modders, screetchers just ruin the immersion for me.

I suggest you download Lobby Manager, don't need install, and you can play on a solo lobby, and there's a ton of thing to do, like stranger missions, enemy camps, and so on. Is very fun. But public is nice too.

i just got this game like a week ago and ive been enjoying it, other than the fact i played for 20 hours to get bounty hunter and the payouts are that much better, maybe i need more levels or something tho
It’s much better with friends because it’s not the kind of game where you constantly need to be doing missions but can have fun hunting with communication (like herding Bison to each other to get the most amount of pelts or duck hunting) or go fishing on a boat or just go around looking for collectibles in some interesting spots on the map and once you unlock explosive arrows there’s a whole new level of potential 😏
I can agree that the content is not fulfilling enough, but I still find it fun for similar reasons. Having a couple mates on and travelling to guarma using glitches, or shooting players from the render distance in Valentine let's us enjoy the game's unintended pleasures.
We rarely take part in the actual "content" so I suppose red dead's entertainment potential directly correlates with how good you are at entertaining yourself 😅

Worse than ever! Last week in trade route , I got lassoed and dragged out of bound and then booted. Today on Trade route I hid in a boxcar and got called out viciously, every name but my real one, by some guy for not participating and he was going to report me to rockstar. Other players must have got bored of his yammering and lassoed him and then I D-Bowed him. Oh yeah , he said he's reporting the chick in pink that lassoed him. Lol!! So yeah, I'm doing a lot of 800 mtu playing.
Griefers aren't a problem if you know to play well and defend yourself and kick their ass, now hackers is a different story, you can't defend yourself from them, and if you try, Rockstar Bans you

@@seanmackey8552 There is a group of hackers / griefers who are on every single trade route, -RE4PER, --LUCCO--, PAG (Paganated) and two or three others in their posse use infinite dynamite arrows, lassos and thrown dynamite to push everyone off the train, they dont care about getting the goods, just trolling people. I have sent videos of this BS to rockstar and they really dont seem to care. There is an example on my page from last night. ( im not promoting my channel, its just for sending cheaters exposed to rockstar) so you can see exactly the things they are doing. You have to be a masochist to play online w PC. This example is only one of many hacker trolls ive experienced in RDO PC. The game could be so incredible if Rockstar actually cleaned it up but they seem to only care about those who steal gold from chests, and hackers know the limit so they dont get attention. The thing with that is, they spawn chests for new people, knowing they will get them banned. They also can follow you through lobbies so there is no escape.
Honestly as someone with 3k hours on this game it’s absolutely pitiful and it’s disgusting how much the company neglects it. They don’t care to fix glitches or off radar and the payouts on all these missions are absolutely terrible they need to shut these servers off if they won’t update it

I got sick of GTA because I ended up finding it so stressful and realised I had never actually played rdr online before. I thought finally I've found a sort of relaxing online game which has incredible detail, but then realised Rockstar had given up on it. It was such a beautiful game 😢. Rockstar really messed up on this one!!

Part of the problem is, when you have some online map on a second monitor to find collectables instead of exploring. It's a bad example, I know (better one would be to wait until 10 seconds before mission is over). Do you play because you want to get immersed into the role of an outlaw 200 years ago or st along the line or do you play for the gratification that some number on your top right screen provides you ? Honestly, I don't blame the developers for turning classics like Fallout, Diablo or GTA into Open World Candy Crush clones. If I would see a player exploiting some bug for hours on end to gain exp instead of going out into the world I designed for him and face the challenges I created, I would probably give up as well and just implement some sugarcoated transaction button to get it all over with.

Modders destroyed rdr online
The positive effect they had on players was that a few modders helped them gain high amount of money in short time by spawning treasure chests in front of them. Since Rockstar left the RDO, it is easy and probably safe to earn money with modders help. I earned like 15.000 dollars thanks to them and that money helped me a lot. But yeah you’re right. Some modders are quite abusive. Only solution is to jump into another session

RDO isn't too dead. Played it the other night with a mate an that was quite good fun.
The hackers are annoying as hell, but i see players all the time and sometimes have some really wholesome interactions. The game is also overall very relaxing in a way that other games just arent and i love the atmosphere. Easily still one of my favorites and i spend a lot of time in it. I do wish they would finish the actual online story and give us new content instead of just the monthly stuff even tho that is also nice.

I recently tried to play Red dead online- after falling in love with single player (got it on release- took a month off work to play it) and I 100% agree- I didnt even bother trying to do any of those jobs- all I did was wander around trying to just TALK to people and see if I could join them- but upon doing so- found nothing but jerks and hackers. its a dead game- PLUS- single player feels far more alive than online- online is a barren waste land that barely loads in anything.
After my not so fun wandering around- I joined a game of poker thinks "FINALLY! I can at least have some fun playing REAL people- the NPC's won't be able to cheat their way into an impossible hand." and then what do I find? NO VOICE CHAT!? ARE YOU SERIOUS?! That was the final straw- refund.
Newbie and late comer to RDO. I personally love it. All I hear is Rockstar doesn’t care about it’s customers. I dunno about that. I just know I can log in, play a coup,e of hours, and mostly have a lot of fun. There are challenges, team and solo. There are all sorts of other players to interact with. The server can be won,y at times, but every online game I have played has that issue.
I get lit up in pvp a lot, but I have fun and after a couple,e of hours, I fee l like i had fun. So, in my opinion the game rocks.
Idk about u but hunting specific animals and laying bait out and waiting for the perfect 3 star tp show up its just breathtaking over reality right now.

Picked this back up over the weekend after years of absence.
Prior to the absence, I maxed all the available roles and yes collecting was by far the easiest and most profitable (by a mile) way to make bank.
Anyway, picked it back up and am still impressed by all the details and interactions.
Sat down to a game of poker (I never cared for it) because I was bored and ended up having a blast.
It is a shame that Rockstar doesn't see the goldmine they have but let's just face facts. More people want to live out a gangster/ride or die fantasy than enjoy a slower simpler western cowboy one.

Every time I do a bounty and it’s a search area mission I just circle the area from the edge of the circle and work around inward looking everywhere it’s so much faster than using the hints (most of the time)
The release of the Naturalist role was it for me.
I wanted to be a gunslinger or a law man. Rob banks and trains.
Rockstar decided we needed to hug trees and track animals.

you can actually pass roadblocks without killing agents if you're not drunk and drive carefully, then the only thing that can damage the wagon and affect your reward is your driving
It's quicker and no wagon damage that when coming close to a agent roadblock, stop and get off your wagon, shoot em all quick. Done, drive on
@@BadMothaKalashnikov I agree it's quicker but then they'll start chasing you, and you'll risk taking damage by being shot at or driving too fast, while passing the roadblock you can take it easy. depending on the route it can make all the difference. since I found that out I forgot what it's like to damage that wagon
@@MumboDjango No look you slow down and get off the wagon before they are even in range to really see/shoot you. Then it takes mere seconds to shoot them all and move on. You can loot them but don't have to, especially if high level character then it probably a waste of time to do that. No damage to the wagon when I use this method. When I start Moonshine, I call my Horse over and I equip Carcano Rifle and Pump-Action Shotgun, then make horse flee.

@@MumboDjango Well there is a delay regarding that, but yes a few chase you. Again it's "key" that you get the weapons you're very good with off your horse as soon as a moon-shine delivery starts. So you have them while on the wagon. What you can't shoot behind you and drive whilst staying on the road all at the same time? Jeesh.
Look technically you need to fill the whole trader bar in order to make a lot of money, same with moonshiner but I do get your point.
I've recently gotten back into RDR2 online. I really enjoy role-playing and the world is so rich in detail that it makes it so much fun.
yes so much fun to do a 30 minutes bounty mission for $18 !! amazing gameplay then to buy a new jacket will cost you $720. Such fun!
I think its good that if you take longer for a mission you get more as reward. This is how the game was designed like in the single player slow paced gameplay and the opposite to gta which i like. It would destroy the game if you get more money if you do it as fast as possible.
Yeah, and on level 3 boutys the time is so short that sometimes you gotta run, but at the sime time don't have to rush like crazy

I don't get the prices, why couldn't they have made it realistic? Like get pennies for the jobs or things you sell, and then having a nice handgun cost 20 dollars or something. For a game that cares so much about its setting, those prices are ridiculous

For Trader, carcasses are better than pelts. the highest material number for an animal if you don't have naturalist is Panthers/Cougars, for common spawns Bucks have the most. Then deer and Pronghorns. Fill hunting wagon w three star deers and youll fill that bar up in no time. For medium sized animals looks for snakes, muskrats and possums.
And I dont know if its a bug, but feathers (3x) of three star Herons, Spoonbills, Cranes, Vultures, Hawks, Eagles/ Big Birds have more materials than the Bird carcass itself. 1.5*3 feather materials than just 5 for a perfect bird carcass. So its best to pluck them and save the medium animal saddle slots for snakes and possums.
When you max out trader just order the supplies.
I just like the game, playing online feels like u actually live in that year. Overall, its fun to play with friends once a while. Or just explore the rdr world repeatedly 🤣
Every lobby I join is full of people. Very rarely do I get one that's below 15 players.

when playing Online I could not be less interested in dealing with other players, especially the rampage trainer cheaters, so I spend literally all my time in Ambarino, with Colter acting really as my main area of operations, I talk to Flaco and the Adlers for cash, use Colters fast travel for supplies, and can usually get decent food supply off the moose, bears, wolves, deer, and other animals in the region, Cripps and my camp is just a fast travel to Wapiti away and I've managed to get on better staying outside of the big towns.
I play almost every other day, Been playing since release... high level, all pamphlets, weapons, all 5 roles & stable full of various horses..... Yep in 2023 still playing & enjoying as ever😁💯🤘🏻

You do realize you're the outlier right? Good for you you've enjoyed the game playing it as consistently as you have, the problem is that most people don't feel the same. It's not about "just enjoy the great game", that's just your opinion and most don't agree that rdro is great. Many of the base game mechanics are a downgrade from GTA online, especially mission structure and payouts. Makes the gameplay loop feel tedious and repetitive, no matter how much variation you try. It's a beautiful handcrafted world with basically no reason to live in it.

I just discovered this game. Immediately got my hands on that little trick to play solo in lobby. No griefers, no cheaters, pure fun.
Literally had the same experience over the weekend I don’t remember why I enjoyed this game. I’m hoping starfield doesn’t disappoint, it may not be online but becoming a space cowboy sounds interesting.

For new players. Unless you have a friend that's high level already. Don't try it. High level trader is cash money but it takes a lot to get there. Let the high level bring you with them on high level missions. It's really fun with a friend group.

What amazes me is that you weren't being continuously tormented by hackers exploding you or teleporting you into the air, or dropping 33 legendary giant alligators on top of you or catching you on fire, or attacking you while invisible, or hacking your account so it looks like YOU are the hacker (to get YOU reported and banned instead of them)... it goes on and on and on.

All you have to do is take one alive with multiple bounties and get the same payout.There are more people playing on the console versions because of the mods on pc. Your pc version is way more buggy than the ps online version. I completely agree with your assessment of the trader and moonshine roles - B O R I N G. I still play it, but I'm getting bored, which makes me sad because I love the look of it. I mostly do bounties, you should have done Red Ben, who is way more exciting than stupid Etta Doyle. I amazes me that people even do that shitty Legendary Bounty. I also like Call to Arms, but I just like blasting people which probably says a bit more than I like about my current mental state. So in conclusion, you aren't too far off from wrong, but I hope the shut down doesn't happen too soon, because I still love the game and hope to keep playing it for a bit longer. Cheers!
I completely forgot about the different populations between console and PC! How could I have forgotten! I'm sure the experience varies between the two and yeah I don't want it to shut down either, even though it's not for me, there are plenty of people like you still enjoying what it has to offer, I just worry that Rockstar gets too corporate with it and sees that it probably doesn't make them as much money as GTAO. for the Trader and Moonshine roles, the initial process is long and boring and not lucrative at all, but once you get to at least rank 10 in each, you can get the large delivery wagon for Trader, and the 3rd tier distillery for the moonshine and you can sell the wagons for $500/625 (short/long distance), and $470~ for the moonshine depending on the flavor. so it ends up being worth it in the end. i dont know about bounty hunting yet though. im rank 14 but just got the bounty wagon a few days ago to be able to get more than one bounty at once and havent gone back to it to farm the rank xp yet. so fingers crossed for that one.
This guy is fucking dense! RDR2 is not dead yet, hell I’m still running a successful crew, and yeah the prices on everything went up for a reason, because people have been glitching the system like mad. It’s not so hard to get money when you have a crew of people who are running trader sales. It’s called having friends, you should try it sometime buddy.
Though I can wholeheartedly agree about his opinion on the naturalist role being absolute shit.
The problem with these reviewers all over TH-cam is because of the fact that they don’t take the time, to get into it. It doesn’t become fun in one day, it’s not a game like cod, where you can just jump in and start having fun. It’s a grind, GTA doesn’t immediately give you $100 million and amazing vehicles, and endless possibilities for money, but it takes time to get to that money and fun.
I know it’s not like anyone’s gonna read this comment anyway, but my argument stands.
Hey man, if you’re still enjoying the game with friends then that’s great! Sadly I just don’t think the online is for me anymore. I appreciate the game is a grind much like GTAO and of course it should be in some circumstances. I didn’t want to come at this as a reviewer, I was just having a little fun with it, just poking these little holes at some of the game design.

i bought this game for online first but then everytime i play other players kill me on the spot.. no chance to move from one city to another
Play on console, if you can, and join a random posse when you enter the game. Less chance to get killed at the spot :-)
Ok, thank you so much for this. I thought i was crazy. I thought it was my internet/pc issue. The story is so much more fun. The online mode didnt even feel like half the game story was.

I don’t really get tons of problems while playing RDO(I play on PC). I usually jump from session to session if I locate a modder at the player list. But most modders nowadays just stand on one location and do literally nothing, maybe spawning treasure chests to help people earn fast-money. There’s a very few amount of modders trying to annoy other players. I started playing this game in March 2024. And now I have 230 hours(8-9 hours on story mode), I only came across abusive modders like 3 or 5 times during my whole gameplay and I haven’t encounter any abusive modders for like a month (I play RDO everyday minimum an hour). Modders are also aware that game is rotting mostly because of them so most of them decided to give up abusing people on RDO. I don’t know you, but the ain’t really a nightmare to me. If you meet an extremely abusive modder, just jump into another session(not during paid or important missions tho)

My problem with being a bounty hunting is that they dont change up it always the same ppl
you're NOT supposed to fight the revenue agents, you're supposed to STOP let them inspect the wagon, then you can leave peacefully
again you're suppsoed to collect ALL the items from a collection THEN sell them for max profit

I think The real reason Red Dead online is really suffering is because rockstar has put everything they have into the GTA +online they've litterally left Red dead online in the dust,they probably will keep it going because the gold bar pack prices make them a lot of income
IIRC, you get .04 gold per 3 minutes spent for a job. If you turn in a bounty or complete a job at 5:59 minutes you only get paid .04 gold. If the mission only lasts 11 minutes, you waste your time waiting for the last 30 seconds because max pay ended at the 9-minute mark. Start a stopwatch on your phone as soon as the mission timer pops up and track gold payout by 3-minute increments.
I took a couple years off from red dead online. But I am back playing again.
Trader is such a pain, after Iliad up my wagon, I'm always getting gunned down by some turbo spazz with a golden repeater rifle

I still occasionally log on and play for a while bc I love the beauty of the game. I’ve played the story more times than I can count but online is the greatest missed opportunity of any developer. Such a waste. Rockstar hates its fanbase
I have never entered an empty session nor stumbled into one a second time. There are tons of people still playing, we just don't see them on the map anymore. We only see who is close in order to cut down the griefing. More realistic this way as you can't hear or see people across the state, but it does make it harder to find people to ride with.
When I log in the lobby is always full, but most of the other players seem to be hackers and grievers.
The moonshine really needs you to go out of your way to find supplies which sucksss I love making apple berry crumb shine
I’ve been playing , it’s not dead at all . Fully lobby’s in poker , I’ve had posse invites and teammates in match made missions
I only got RDR2 beginning of this year, and played the full story mode (taking my time along the way) before heading to online. Was really sad to see how the starter story just stops half way, how expensive it was to get into your first trade as a noobie, and just the sheer amount of hackers if you're playing regularly. The reporting tools are also total ass, making it hard to even pretend Rockstar is doing something about them.
Once you have completed all the roles and reached lvl 100 + and got so much money that you have brought everything in the shops that you want then there is no point in playing
1. Rdo isn't dead
2. You get about 300 dollars from legendary bounties on 3 bounty level (not including etta doyle and 1 or 2 others)
3. there are about 20 players on every lobby in rdo
4. you have to get the best moonshine stove to make more money
5. The moonshining is easy if you just even try...
6. Do you think that the collector role was better without that map?
7. You have to complete full sets of collectibles to get real money and it takes about 45 min per set
8. you are right that rockstar should update rdo
9. why would rockstar shut rdo, there are still many players on it playing it
10. you can mess around so much more in rdo than like rdr 2 sm or gta 5 online

In trader you don't skin them, you deposit the full body to cripps, you made that way longer than it needed to be, plus you don't have the large wagon, it's by far the best method to earn money
I got so annoyed with hackers that I modded the game to give me solo lobbies and played online as single player
I have $30k and 74 in Gold. You can make money in missions when you get them leveled up. Also there are monthly initiatives such as December, you get double $$ and XP in the moonshine shack.
Not as fast as possible for bounties. They pay on time thresholds. Stay in 9 or 12 minutes. Bounties are more for gold than money. For money go trader and do large deliveries. DON'T skin the animals to hand in to crips. Give him full 3 star carcasses or legendary for best results.
Folks were spending $200+ on a single poncho back in the 1900's CRAZY!
In my opinion this game is amazing and rockstar abandoning it is the biggest mistake they have ever made
Modders helped me a ton. Today alone someone gave 500 gold and 30,000 dollars from a chest he spawned.
There's a rumor going round that rstar is banning any one that did that. If you took the gold you could be banned.
Red dead online is still a chill game. I like going hunting or playing call to arms most of the time.
