Why My Channel Sucks Lately

  • A lot of you have been wondering where I have been... I really struggled with publicizing this, but ultimately I feel that honesty, transparency, and authenticity is always the right choice.
He truly was my biggest supporter, in life and TH-cam. In fact, he was so fascinated with the business-side of TH-cam that he would've wanted me to monetize the heck out of this video, but I feel that would come across horribly. If TH-cam plays ads that is out of my control.

Grief and sorrow does change the attitude.
I hate when people say GET OVER IT.
No, work through it. There is nothing like a Dad and son bond.
I love your channel. That’s all sir.

Video should have been titled A Tribute to my Father. He deserved every word you said. Father and son relationships are everything. My Dad was the greatest man I have ever known and now I work hard everyday to bring the same joy to my son that my Dad brought to me. Your videos are amazing in part because your Dad was amazing. You are him. He is proud of his son.

Dude your channel doesn't suck. I'm going on my first solo Vegas trip tomorrow because, in part, to your videos. I'm pushing myself past what I would have ever thought of doing because of your attitude to life.
You should know you have a positive impact in real people out in the real world. I hope you're doing well man, and I'm really sorry to hear about your Father. Your audience is here because of your authenticity and trying to give advice to other travellers. We will still be here for you no matter how long it takes for you to grieve the way you need to.

James, I found your channel sometime around the holiday season 2021, when I got the all clear from my mom and dad to find a tropical place to go for my first college spring break. I watched every single video you had made for every tropical destination. After evaluating what my parents wanted, price, and what I wanted, we ended up at a property you didn’t review, Majestic Colonial. It was a blast, and we had an amazing time as a family. About 7 months after the trip towards the end of 2022 my father passed away suddenly while I was at college. We must have had similar father figures; one of the distinct things I remember is how not everyone could fit in all the pews, and it was standing room only throughout the whole funeral home. Thanksgiving and Christmas were quite hard for the whole family that year and even last year. Thank you for the recommendations and adventures you’ve taken us all on throughout the years. It made the last year with my dad a real treat. You’ve ignited a passion for travel within me that I didn’t know I had, and if I ever bump into you I’ll be sure to say hello, maybe we can shoot the shit with stories of our beloved fathers. There’s so much I could say, but I’ll keep it short. I’m truly sorry for your loss, it will always hurt, but it does get easier. You’re making him proud every day.

Mama Coolist, you have an amazing son that produces incredible, honest travel videos that sometimes create friendships even he's over at another sunny beach. Our household went to Lopesan Costa Bavaro three weeks ago, and I met a gentleman from the UK while watching the sunrise over the party boats just offshore. About five minutes into the conversation, we both found out the reason why we were there was because of some TH-camr that goes by Coolist highly recommended it. James, your content is amazing and it was so cool to talk about it with a stranger that soon became a friend. We're going to try to cross paths again next year from opposite sides of the globe. Regarding your father, my dad beat Stage 3 Esophageal cancer, and I get to cherish my bonus time with him. I'm happy to see that you had the opportunity to do the same. James, I started following you several years ago and I really enjoy your videos, but more than the content there was something about you that resonated with me. I think it's because you remind me of my son. You have inspired me to actually start my own youtube channel, the speech diaries. Of course, mine is very new and lack lustre, but as you mentioned now I am living my passion, I'm doing me. It has nothing to do with travel, but it has to do with storytelling and helping others. My aim, other than being a public speaker and sharing stories is to be an advocate for grieving individuals, you see, I lost my son, Michael in 2019. Watching you has been comforting for me; to see you travel and share your experiences to benefit others. I believe that even now your father will continue to inspire you each and every day. Thank you for being vunerable and sharing this story with us, it has touched my heart and I look forward to your future videos. I appreciated the photos at the end of this video, I can tell that your father was a great man, and that you share something that both of your parents appear to possess, a passion for living your best life...what a beautiful legacy. Sending you hugs, Loretta M. Zajac

Money isn’t everything, I always say I’d rather be poor/struggling and happy than have the job/money but be miserable. If you can find the job/money and happiness great, but happiness is what matters most. Keep up the great attitude and you will succeed and I’ll be patiently waiting to see what happens.🤗🤗🤗🤗 Maybe one day I’ll be lucky enough to cross paths with you at the airport or at a resort or somewhere in MN/WI!

I feel you with this one. I lost my mom this past April. She was healthy her whole life and then at 72 randomly got diagnosed with a rare bone cancer. They thought it was curable but treatment did nothing and she was gone barely 6 months later. It was supposed to be my parents 50th anniversary this year and they were going to take a big European trip. Like you I am also from Wisconsin and of a similar age.
The world just totally feels off its axis for me right now and the comfort of having my mom around and seeing her is no longer there. I would like to share something with you though.
My dad and I who are both still heartbroken have decided to take a trip together to Atlantic City this fall as he is getting comped for 4 nights at the Borgata. We watched your Atlantic City review videos and enjoyed them and had a few laughs watching them together and we were iffy on doing AC but decided to take the trip and stay there based off of your vids. So thanks for giving us those videos we both enjoyed watching them during a very difficult time for our family. We will both eventually get through this James and the memories and love will sustain us. I am very sorry for your loss.

I found your channel when I was researching a trip to Cancun, which is coming up later this year. It will be my first real vacation and your channel helped me get there. Even though my research is done, I still watch your videos. I find them entertaining and interesting. I like seeing the places you go and hearing about your experiences. You do a great job and your father was right to be proud of you. I'm sorry to hear about his passing. I wish you nothing but the best and I look forward to more of your videos.

You really do help people make better decisions on when and where to spend their hard earned money, that is something we all appreciate. You put a lot of good energy out into the universe, and that will come back to you ten fold one day.

Very sorry for your loss. I never comment on videos but felt compelled to respond…. thank you for the update, though you owe none of us anything. Am glad to hear that you’re emerging from your funk, but it’s good that you took time to feel your feelings and process your profound loss. Tbh I hadn’t noticed a change but I’ve been following you less than a year - I will say I watch almost all of your videos, even for places I’m not interested in visiting. So, keep being you and doing what you do - we’ll be here when you’re ready. Take care.

Beautiful vlog, James. It certainly resonated with me as i lost my Mum earlier this year. One thing i noticed whilst watching, was that every time you mentioned your Dad, a smile appeared on your face, that says a lot about how much love you had for him. I'm sure he'd be very proud of you .

Your channel hasn't sucked lately at all IMO. I discovered your channel over 2 years ago and it has been a tremendous help in planning my vacations with my mom. I go on vacation with my Mom to the Caribbean every year because much like you I have also lost my father far to early in my life and I am know taking advantage of the time I have with my Mom and have became her travel partner in the absence of my Dad. Don't be hard on yourself, take the time you need and heal. Hope to see more great video's from you in the future.

I am incredibly sorry for your loss. I’m thankful for the time you’ve been able to spend with your Dad and have no doubt you make him proud and will continue to as he watches over you! Peace and comfort to you and your mom in this time.

I appreciate your perspective. I recently interviewed a friend on grief because it’s been on my mind lately. Since I’ve stepped into helping my aging parents. It’s on my mind often.
I pray for peace over your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Amen.
