Thanks for braving the heat for us Jay! Looks like a solid upgrade. I think I will do that right off the bat when I likely get an AutoPilot. Great Channel!
Just upgraded mine thanks to this video! Works perfectly!! I wish Old Town would fix this issue. They only offer a socket kit for $182.99 with the same cheap plugs/receptacles. I paid $10 and got this done in under an hour. Thanks again!!!
Dude thank you! I did the front one in about 40 minutes thanks to you. It’s so much easier to do these things watching somebody else. I used a zip tool to carve up the old plate and just used stainless steel self drillers to finish. The plug is quality and this is something that needs to be fixed in every one of these yaks. Great job with the tutorial.
I changed out my plugs on my 106MK. Thanks for giving us some tips. The hardest thing to do is the plugs on the yak. Its just more detailed. But I got it done. Tight Lines
really awesome tutorial, my plug went out on my yesterday and I was worried I wouldn’t be able to fix it but thanks to this video I am about to finish it up. Thank you sir!!!
I just added a receptacle to mine for my second battery to swap with my Hummingbird. Wish I saw this then !!! Yo Bro you are scaring me with that box cutter, get a diagonal cutter please !!!!
@@BeardedDadFishing I was going to offer you one!!! Thanks for the vid, Im going to convert my 136 before I have trouble! Keep up the good work but be safe, we need you
Thanks for using my Dad Joke, Jay! 😂👍 (Rimshot 🥁) Although I may never use what you showed me here, you did it well. I think you’re pretty handy. New mic sounds amazing, btw. Much better sound shooting outdoors than in some prior videos, not that they were bad. Just a nice upgrade.
Appreciate it Bryan! If you ever want to run a thru hull kit for your trolling motor, you can use the same kit as well. Pumped that you picked up on the new mic. The wireless lav set up is 100x easier than the shotgun mic when I’m doing these types of videos.
Is there only one way the plug, plugs in. I was worried about if the prongs of the plug can be can be put in incorrectly thus crossing the positive and negative wires?
This video helped a lot, thank you!! Any chance someone has a link to a blueprint for a printable replacement plate for the new plug in? I can "hack" the old plate to fit the new hardware, but I know there is a 3D printable (or one for purchase somewhere?)
@@BeardedDadFishing I also changed the connectors like your video and I can see there’s power because of the test lights however it doesn’t turn the motor on to connect or beep. It did when I connected the battery directly to the motor
You mentioned the battery connector is a female to male, would it matter to do it male to female there as well. Amazon has two plugs but both male to female didn’t know if it would cause issues
I disagreed about you saying you are not handy. A lot of people spend what they can on a kayak and adding extras is difficult. You have shown many folks how to get a lot done with little money. It makes a difference!
Thanks Kerry! I’m happy to hear that it’s been helpful! I do enjoy finding solutions that done necessarily mean breaking the bank. Thanks for watching!

Much appreciated RV! After a couple experiences where I accidentally unplugged the motor, I was figured it was an important upgrade to do quickly.

Great to hear! It’s definitely a weak point. Hope it’s address in the updated hulls (whenever that is)

Thanks for posting this video. I ordered the plugs and replace them today. They’re working great!
Awesome to hear! Mine are still going strong!
You are number one. I see all your videos. Continue because you are going to reach your dream.
Nice video Jay! I know the old town clan will find this very useful! Keep hammering bro!
Appreciate it Lucas! Definitely a needed modification for any autopilot.

I actually bought one after shooting this video 😂 Figured I’ve risked enough already 😅

This is exactly what I wanted to see. Thank you so much for making this video. From one bearded fisherman to another. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful! Good luck on the install 🤙🏽

awesome video, I ordered the replacement plugs and going to switch them out on the autopilot 120 What size self tapping screws would you recommend?
Awesome! i don't have the specific size (in Alabama currently) but I wouldn't go too big.
Did you ever do a video for the carver cover? If not, what did you think of it? I'm looking to get a cover for my 106mk.
I did not, but I included it in a countdown I did. Love my Carver cover. I use it for long trips and when my kayak is outside for extended periods.

It only plugs in one way. Really secure connection.
@@BeardedDadFishing thanks brotha!

Would this be the cause for the motor not turning on? Mine doesn’t turn on
Did you make this change recently? Lots of reasons for the motor to not kick on.
I connected the battery directly to the motor and it kicked on so maybe?

@@cringe_fishing is your kill switch attached? Is the motor all the way in the locked down position?
Great video!!! The plug is on Prime Deals at a reduced price !!!

Shouldn’t be an issue. I’ve seen a few do the same switch to these with no issues
Have you had any issues since you've changed to these plugs?
None at all. They work great.
I’m assuming this will work for the 106MK too right?
Should work exactly the same 👌🏽

I just finished replacing mine with the same plug 2 week ago 😂
Nice! Did you end up cutting out a new hole or getting it on the old mount?
@@BeardedDadFishing same spot
Only problem is that voids the warranty on your trolling motor

For 4500$ there shouldn't be a crappy plug
Agreed my guy! But now there isn’t 😎
$4800 before tax 😢
