why is God's name would you ever cancel a show like this?
I'm still mad about it smh
Only reason is because this show was actually about the music and not about the backstories or showmanship. 10 years later this is still amazing.
@@SWAY716 4 years later and i still agree!
Same here
and decide to keep trash XFactor, The Voice and American Idol… I would trade all 3 for this show ffs
This is One of those moments in music i'll always remember and come back to when i'm having a bad day amazing and i've heard it a million times and it still gives me goosebumps to this day.
Apart from the amazing transition through the key change, which was executed masterfully by Catherine from the backbeats, there is very cool visual that most people missed. the entire upper deck is dark and presumed empty, but then on the downbeat, after Catherine's solo, the rest of the cast springs up for an even more powerful arrival point. Just very cool performance with amazingly talented people! It is a privilege to even hear this work of art. Thank God for ears!
With Jeremy at the opening & closing & Jerry singing the backup parts for flavor - makes this a sing off all time classic!e
Love it when Catherine from the backbeats sings just before the Key change an amazing moment for sure.
So many frickin amazing things about this song and this version. I am addicted to OTR and Jeremy Lister's voices respectively. Man
In my eyes, this is the BEST opening of Season 2. Now that Pitch Slapped and Men of Note were taken out, I can hear the best effects of the 8 remaining groups. And the first crescendo that leads into everyone coming in absolutely BLOWS ME AWAY every single time. Best opening, hands down. Season 1's Under Pressure and Season 3's Sing has nothing on this.
I don't care WHAT corner of this song you go to, you ALWAYS hear Jerry Lawson's FANTASTIC voice!
Dude my sentiments exactly... I've been in production enough to know how freaking brilliant THAT was!!!
My favorite opening of any Sing Off Show so far...this is fabulous!
You know a lot of times modulation in a cappella songs is just sort of thrown in as a change up but the key change at 2:34 is incredible, adds such another level to it. I'd kill to be half as talented as anyone on that stage.
i literally get chills when i hear and watch this lol
Josh Heying, the soloist from On The Rocks here, kinda fascinates me. Whenever I see him talking on camera or being interviewed, he seems so shy and withdrawn, even unemotional. But when he's singing, he's very emotive. It's like he lights up and becomes really himself while he's singing.
excellent! music brings all races together.
OMG!! there is just something that happens to me in the pit of my stomach when they sing this song together.OMG!! I love Kings of Leon and this is a beautiful song don't get me wrong, but there is just something so pure about Use Somebody when they sing it accapella like this. They did an awesome job!! Real Music and Real Talent
I love when she starts singing @ 2:53. I love the whole performance and all the solos, but I really loved her.
I get chills without even listening to it!
OMG this brought tears to my eyes!!!
BEST OPENER BY FAR
im in love with this, esp the lead sing of Committed =]!!
sigh, i get chills listening to this.
@nycamelful Yes, she was singing the note correctly. She went up a half-measure, because the song changes to a different key at that point.
Thank you so much for putting this up! The opening numbers are much harder to find than the individual group performances, and I was going crazy to see this again!
Wholely key change that was amazing
What a fantastic season this was!
Bring this to the UK
NOW!!!
One word, BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Shadowkrisis No, she wasn't flat. It's called going up a fourth on the scale. They changed to a different key.
Why the hell was this not available on The Sing Off Best Of Season 2 CD? This was easily the best number from the season.
@kdowns93 or Street Corner Symphony, the guy that opened it was from that group
I wish this show would return
@2:31 sent chills down my spine
rejoice! we have so many wonderful people on this earth :)
c'est excellent !!!
his name is Jeremy Lister from street corner symphony, and yes he is awesome!
I think that's the most microphones I've ever seen being used at one time.
Also, if I was there I think I would have died. *sigh*
God. DAMN. Jerry Lawson is an earth-mover.
this hasta be my favorite performance from sing-off....ever.
there so good!!!
I love how nobody's outshining anybody and wow I just can't believe this is a 'competition' okay
Bravo ...
I’m just loving these harmonies and all the littles solos.
The choreography (if you can call it that) at the beginning is awkward, but goddamn it, I love this.
Jerry Lawson was amazing also loved scs one of em shoulda won
My top 3:
1:On the Rocks
2:The Back Beats
3:Pitch Slapped
Totally love it
AMAZING!!!!
Season 2 is def. the best season
@dignature123 Yep . :) We did a show last year in Times Square and we did one impromptu performance two weeks ago .
@nycamelful Do you think she sang the wrong note and all of the other singers just luckily followed her into the same key? What she pulled off was extremely difficult. She modulated to a different key from complete silence with nothing to go from except the previous key. That's almost like having perfect pitch.
GOOD
@cibag one minor point: can we take "will and grace" out of that sentence. it was just a vehicle for guest stars with the main characters wearing out their welcome half a season in. if you said the office, frasier, medium, even SNL during the 2008 presidential run, i'd agree.
also, i agreee, they expanded the show from 4 to 5 episodes and 8 to 10 groups, I think they're letting it grow. the challenge will be finding 10 talents groups for next season.
No doubt this was the best of all ofthe group songs through seasons 1-3. It is just an exciting song to hear and with Jeremy at the start and finish, it just adds to the flavor. It seems that season 2 had some of the best lead singers so far. It also premiered "Apologize" , "If I were a Boy" and "Soul Sister" all very powerful.
WELL, I was at a Pentatonix concert last night, and they said that The Sing Off will be coming back with a Season 4. I don't know when, though :(
And then Season 4 was... yeah. Not that good.
Kendall is INCREDIBLE in this 😵
Ben Morris ikr
Thumbs up for the sound engineers. So. many. microphones.
OMG!
I'm just curious at how I can hear that hi-hat at 1:38 on the right side of the speaker and not the left? Sound board editing? So that means one guy in this whole stand up is going "ts ts ts tss".
Sounds more prerecorded if you ask me but meh. Fair enough I guess if this is their natural sound in the studio.
@MasochisticMaiden omg awesome. do you have a website or auditions or what? lol
3:02 isnt it, I've been roaming around, I was looking down at all I see. Not, to all I see.
?
This show needs to come back! Wtf is the reason it got yanked?
\o/ Beautiful
Do they have a tour or something?!
@kaelarocshard GO TECHIES!
I get fucking goosebumps every time i watch this
i wish i could find an arrangement like this anybody know where to find one?
0.16 please let me know who he is? what band? Oh GOD i think im in love ,3
Hey the short guy's part of the Spizzwinks! or Whiffenpoofs...or both!
listened to this song and at 2:33 i JIZZED IN MY PANTS!
A member of The Whiffenpoofs.
Where can i download this song?
The Grace Kelly singer!
WTH why was this show cancelled?!!!
Why would people dislike this video? Really people? 13 dislikes? :(
@Baeritone Your crazy they had alot more weapons than that obviously your not a singer and you have no idea what you are talking Backbeats were amazing from top to bottom. If anything they were the deepest group in the competition.
insperashinal
LOL 2:24
this was great but i reckon the girl could of went a bit higher and if her voice was more powerful
awkward shoulder touches...
@localazn208 Yeah well I'm sure they are getting payed handsomely for it so, no need for high five.
Kudos to the asian chick. That modulation is TOUGH! Nothing like a direct modulation to build tension.
the black guy killed jerry lawson killed that shit
5 ppl have not found that somebody
0:41 who is the black mister with the super amazin voice?
this performance IS the highlight of all three seasons...chills every time I listen.
EVERY time...100% agree
This whole season has epic group performances. Chills when Joanna sings
In my opinion, THE best opener out of all the seasons.
2024 and this is still a top musical television moment.
I just came here to listen to Jeremy sing "I've been roaming around, always looking down at all I see". This man's voice is crystal!
@avafiery I was in the audience that night to see my son Brennan "Sassy" Caldwell of the Whiffenpoofs ("I'm ready now" at 2:25) and it was marvelous to hear this song in person.
Brennan is such a wonderful singer! And comes across like a wonderful person too. You must be super proud of him!
somehow, the original radio version seems less impressive after hearing this.
So good... anyone who is a musician can appreciate how unbelievable the key change was. To get all those peeps to hit that and retain pitch and the key. I can only imagine how the girl felt who had to hit that key change and how worried she was about hitting it. WOW. They're all SO good! I'm in Awe.
R.I.P. Mr. Jerry Lawson, one of the best of the best!!
Ten years after this song and, for me, his is the voice that truly elevates this performance. 🙏
This song is on my list of "Best Musical Moments Ever"
That key change enver fails to give me absolute goosebumps. This is beyond almost everything else I've heard musically out there. So many talented peopel all focusing on a giant surge of epicness.
Such an amazing performance. You could tell that almost everyone in that knew that they were singing in one of the most amazing performances they may ever be apart of. They definitely need to invest in the show and blow it up for all it's worth. Stretch the season out, make fan voting a huge roll and keep bringing back Courtney Jensen with a different group each season until she wins!
Holy moly that key change.
I think this moment was the pinnacle of what music reality television can produce. This was heartfelt. It was beautiful and it showcased over twenty soloists from many different styles of singing. If you can think of a better moment I'd love to hear it.
Still gives me goose bumps!!! They canceled this for the voice, smdh!!!
In the Voice's defense, it's probably the next best singing show after this.
@@Klipik12 nope, the voice sucks, almost never produxe generational talents... Imo their best talent is christina grimmie, and she already had a youtube following before the voice
that is how you sing a dang song! bring this shit back.
is it me? or did someone sing an extra "im ready" at 2:32?
And that's how you open a show!
Monday 9pm...waited 2 years for this to return
