As much as i like the PRX, I'm thinking of starting my collection with the Tissot Gentleman. I understand they are completely different styles but i love the way the gentleman sits on my wrist. I think it is seriously worth considering as a starter piece as it is quite versitile
Always buy the watches you like the most / which you think suits you best. In the end its your collection. Not someone else's.
Took that decision, and i must say i stare for an abnormal amount of time at my wrist to admire the beauty of the watch. Would definitely recommend going in and wearing the watches you are deciding between and go for the one you love and don’t have to justify.
First Learning: dont buy like you are a „collecter“. just buy the watches you really like.
Funny you mention this.
I went to get a prx and was given a gentleman by accident but ended up liking it more and since there was a sale, got the gentleman instead (went back for the prx a week later since the sale was still on)
That being said. Both watches are great. I personally like the prx cus of the bracelet and dial texture.
Thought I'd add. The sale is still going on in bloomingdales. 20% off I believe.
If you can get it for free And you can only get one . Which one you will get ? that is the one you want
Started with a Khaki Field Auto and a Seiko Panda Speedtimer. Both are perfect for the price.
Do you still have ? How does the khaki compare to the panda
Just bought the tissot prx 80 in light blue. Absolutely love it
Thank you for calling out the Tag Formula 1! My first real watch and still my favorite. The finishing is way better than the pictures imply. Go for the chronograph though for a sportier look
Great video as always. Pretty much agree with every watch
Much appreciated!
Totally agree with your selections. Even though I've been collecting for a while I'll buy a cool "starter watch" now and again just because they are great. Tisot PRX, Hamilton Khaki Field and Doxa are in part of my collection. Of all the watches I own and wear I get the most comments on the Jungham Max Bill Chrono($1,600) and the Acutron Spaceview 2020 ($3,600) which are by no means the most expensive watches I own. In otherwords, forget how much they cost, wear what you like. Having said that, my favorite is the Omega Moonwatch. I get no comments on it except from other watch geeks.
Glycine 39. Awesome watch.
Tissot is the perfect place to start. I had an everytime, then a visodate…after that moved onto longines and the insanity began
Certina DS Action 38mm in titanium. Underrated watchbrand.
On my wrist today, my Breitling SuperOcean abyss 42. Great collection of starter watches very respectful.
great list
Thanks!
Harrison - yep, my first dipping of the toe into the pool of luxury watches was a Tag! Lost it recently in a fire, but, it was a fantastic introduction into what has become a fulfilling (and damn expensive) hobby! Great video, as always.
My suggestion is that you could start with _what's on my wrist_ today : Citizen World Time perpetual Calendar BX1003-08E, not over 500 bucks, no need of winding, no need of date change, and looks good with any suits you've owned
Just thought I'd add some options I love and recommend (including microbrands) and for those of us in the itty bitty wrist committee:
-Seiko SNK
-Maen manhattan 37
-Maen Hudson 38
-Kuoe Old Smith 35mm
-Timex Marlin reissue
If not for the price, best place to start is Rolex. Kidding aside, it's a great list!
That's funny
That exact Tag Formula 1 on the rubber strap was my first nice watch! A birthday gift from my parents when they were on a cruise in June 2016. Wore it all the time up until I bought the grail (at the time) being the Omega Blue SMP 300M Diver. in 2016 that watch was $1k USD (but $850 on the cruise ship) and now it goes for $1450 new.
What do you think of the Baltic Aquascaphe???
Wearing today Tissot automatic III black and gold, lovely daily timepiece
All time favorite is tudor royal 41 black and gold day date full romans, no diamonds
I have a two Seikos already but planning on getting a Longines Hydroconquest as my first proper watch.
A Seiko isn't a proper watch then ? 😉
😂😂 Seiko is not a proper watch? Seiko could wipe the floor with Longines in a brand battle
Hello Harrison. I was in your Leeds shop yesterday (18th June). I looked at the 38mm Certina in Titanium and Steel, and bought the Titanium one. Great buying experience. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. They didn’t rush me and adjusted the bracket to the perfect fit for my wrist. Very happy with my new daily wear.
John
Hey John!!! Thanks so much for the comment and I’m so glad you had an incredible experience. I really appreciate you coming to us mate, thank you. I hope you enjoy your new certina!! It’s a banger 🔥
Omega speedmaster sapphire sandwich with the OEM rubber strap
My watch collection is currently a G-Shock and a Seiko SRPE, but looking to get a PRX to expand!
Stick to the srpe so versatile and looks great stop the madness now.....
I’m sporting a Studio Underdog Watermelon
Wrist check: seiko sne589 solar diver. Beach, mountain, work, office: everywhere, aol the time. I think solar watches are underrated. Citizen just launched a titanium ecodrive with integrated bacelet, a better prx...
The blue Tag is a smart looking watch.
I like all of then exellent choise the best.💯👍
Get the seiko 5 38 (strictly for wrists below 7”). It is rather small but such a strap monster that it can be your gada watch. It is the most affordable watch in my collection but gets the most wrist time. Swap the bracelet with an uncle seiko senator bracelet, or on a black nato
Wearing the Tissot Super sport Chrono
Have to throw a shout out to the orient ray II. Was my second watch but on a nato its killer especially for the price
A Tag Heuer Solargraph is a great place to start. The Aquaracer is a pretty timeless design, at this point, and the Swiss Solar Quartz movement/concept are relatively rare still.
Tag Heuer as a brand _is_ a great starting brand, but that doesn't mean it disappears after you get to know even better watches/brands. It's one of the most gifted luxury brands, because people get them in their 20s/30s and develop that confidence in the brand after a decade+ of ownership.
I just bought a Carrera, my second Tag, 16 years after my first Tag and on the heels of my IWC and Zenith purchases. I've sent that first Tag off to LVMH for a sentimental refurbishment.
G-Shock DW5610 for the last week or so!
Today I'm wearing a Casioak black dial with white hour markers and hands. I just got it as a gift from my parents who returned from holiday in Japan :)
"We don't wear watches to tell time, we wear watches to tell stories"
I recommend diver watches without a date as a first watch, they are built like a tank, very easy to set and will fit in most occasions. Some models even look good on a lot of different straps aswell. Automatic is the way to go because they cannot be overwound, this makes it very accessible to anyone without having to worry about damaging the movement.
All watches after the first one can have more advanced complications in my opinion. Start with basics then go to the more advanced (if you need it ofcourse)
I think an Omega on used market makes a great buy, well made and a great brand. Or get a neo vintage Rolex, from the OOs. If you get a plain classic, like a no date sub, or Explorer, or Oystercase, black dials, timeless and well built. These are like a well tailored black suite. Never goes out of fashion. So I’d defo go plain, simple classic. If you cannot stretch to Rolex, the monochrome black bay 41 is a good starter watch. The less expressive, the more likely you will hang onto them. Kinda grow into them.
On the wrist today A Breitling colt automatic I bought in 1995
Just a tip: Everything is energy and the watch brand you peak connects you to an energy chain.
Now,if you buy this cheap.. 'stuff', what quality of energy you'll be connected to? ;) Good luck
nobody talk about tissot t-classic bridgeport (black ad white), it's wonderful yet affordable
Waiting for the 38mm seiko 5 gmt
Hamilton jazzmaster openheart
You should do a video on the same topic but have budgets - under 1k, under 5k and under 10k. Everyone has a different budget and some people might only ever want one nice watch...unlike the most of us 😂😢
Today I'm wearing my planet ocean blue. Why don't you get the kaki feild repaired?
My funds are really tight right now unfortunately sure to the studio costs, also I’ve kind of replaced it with the Expedition model!
Baumé et Mercier Riviera blue strap
I am about to start my collection with the longines conquest 38mm blue dial😀 is it a good start bro?
Longines are absolutely epic mate!!
Nice video! I believe for tag entry, the f1 chronometer is much more dollar value worthy with similar price. That’s my option though.
@@ChisholmHunterOfficial omg you replied thank you for your amazing vedios 💛
@@46sanketadekarxd29Just get the legend diver. The conquest seems ok, but just a little too non distinctive, IMO.
Seiko Prospex Speedtimer Solar from the 1990’s.
Vulcain Nautique Orange Dial
The BB Burgundy looks like a Mortal Kombat pallet swap. They should call it the Black Bay ‘Sektor’ dial.
The Tissot PRX is t my cup of team but the it would be greatly improved within that PRX logo. It’s terrible
Wearing a seagull 1963 rn
Casio is the god❤
You know, lots of people say the movement of Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 has no serviceability. Is that true?
There are 2 versions of the pm80. One has plastic components and we're you to have it serviced, they'd be more likely to just bung a new one in there. It's not great IMHO but it's a workhorse if you don't care about keeping original parts as much as possible. It's 2824 is way better imo. Or any eta really, some seiko movements are also great but the newer ones suck a bit.
I tend to stay away from most which have extended power reserves as they tend to break more in my experience.
The studio underdog is not 10.8mm ! Its near enough 14mm!
Certina ds action, I would get that over any tag formula one, very underrated brand
F91-W is iconic and super affordable but it’s not a first LUXURY watch is it, come on 😂
It is for a lot of people!!
@@ChisholmHunterOfficial if a £10 watch is luxury now what watch isn’t luxury? 🤣 totally agreed it’s a great starter watch tho
In my honest opinion: you guns hear me out. Watches are no place where fomo is needed. I know you all know from investing, social media etc that fomo is like a pandemic in our world however with watches-simply take your time. Go to a store, to an AD and try something. Do this whenever you like. You will have all the time in the world to make a decision. These watches are not running away and you will see patience saves your pocket while your taste will evolve.
Casio
as in my first watch was a Casio fw91
Great video … that’s not how you pronounce Tsuyosa
Sorry but quartz watches and Casio’s are not luxury watches. They are just watches. Luxury watches are inherently mechanical…I mean if I’m paying serious money I want a lot of wheels and gears!
I started with Hamilton, and now owning few of them and Tudors
At the end of the day, you’re just a salesman.
Totally untrue. I’ve collected watches for years.
Boring choices. A watch to start your collection imo does not need to be a "GADA". It should be something that excites you every time you wear it. Boring watches don't achieve that.
Dodgy countries, lmao 😂 true
26, shows how old you are…..😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. Enjoy your age. You’re not old.
Ahaha cheers man, I’m getting there though
That casio dont belong in this video.
Always the same vids with the same watches. Boring.
OMG another watch channel that recommends buying the same watches that ALL other watch channels recommend. Copy and paste the same shit that everyone is saying. It's becoming redundant, lacking originality and boring 😢
You live in a country where getting robbed of your watch is a daily thing and you call other countries dodgy. Maybe that's why 80% od people who watch your videos ain't subscribers. Think about that.
I live in Scotland, not London.
Bro shut up ur still young man!!!! 26 ain’t that old.
Ahaha I’m getting there though
@@ChisholmHunterOfficial Im 23 mate 😅 don’t make me feel old now. I should make a review of the Oris diver 65 calibre 400
I think a Tag is a great place to start. If youre willing to spend a bit more then probably a Tudor. Id always recommend buying a versatile piece as your 1st. Something that can do it all so if you don't want to carry on then all bases are covered
