    Hey Capt T Ray, I love your houseboat. I recently retired to Thailand. I found me a wonderful Thai lady and would like to build a budget houseboat on one of her ponds. I have a budget of less than $20000. But in Thailand that goes a longer. Anyway, I like some your ideas that I can use. I won't be moving it, as the ponds are small. I can use teak and bamboo here, as it is plentyful and cheap. Anyway, thanks for making the video of your build. Nice work

    How much did the entire platform cost? And how much do the dock floats cost a piece? Where did you get the dock floats and the materials to build the platform?

    • @Capt_T_Ray
      @Capt_T_Ray  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The platform in 2020 cost right at $5k completely decked off. The permafloat floats from Home Depot online 8’ long 3’ wide 2’ deep cost $580 a piece. Everything came from Lowe’s or Home Depot I had a $12k limit between my two cards to build it. Everything up to the wall bottom plates is treated

      I have one more question. How much weight do your floats hold and how much did your frame and house weigh?

    • @Capt_T_Ray
      @Capt_T_Ray  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@TheSpiritofEnlightenment the website has the buoyancy numbers on each float size. But mine hold 2771lbs each. I sat on a wood weight per board foot website and figured in every single piece of wood I could think of. The website had every dimensional piece of lumber you can imagine from 2x4s to plywood. Treated and untreated, wet and dry weights. I figure everything was around 10,000 lbs plus I gave it another 2k lbs just to be safe before I ordered floats. I just sat down and did the math.

      @@Capt_T_Ray Wow thanks. I have one more question. What are the dimensions of your platform and the dimensions of the house?

    I love your shanty! But I didn't see a second exit door or window?

    • @Capt_T_Ray
      @Capt_T_Ray  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Second door eats up way to much interior space on a tiny cabin and if you can’t make your way out of a 16x16 cabin that’s natural selection at its finest 🤷‍♂️

      @@Capt_T_Ray I was more thinking about waking up at 2AM to smoke and needing to find a way out. Bear in mind I had it happen to me so I do have a perspective on the subject.

      @@myfavoritemartian1 Ive grew up working on towboats with only one way out of many cabins. I sure wasn’t wasting money and space on windows that someone could crawl thru when this is unattended in the swamp for long periods of time
