Rickey is one of the Southern rock legends left with us. As others have said, very under rated and under appreciated. He was with Skynyrd at the beginning and at the end. What a fabulous career. Thanks Rickey!
For me there is no one better than Rickey medlocke as a singer/songwriter and guitarist. Sure do miss Rickey's lead singing. Congratulations Rickey..y'all deserve it. Take care and keep in rockin'
Hell to the yeah Rickey Medlocke ! Do your thing " MAKE MUSIC MY WARRIOR BROTHER " ! I'VE ALWAYS BEEN FOR YOU BROTHER WAY ON BACK ! I MISS YOU PLAYING W / BLACKFOOT ! I'M PART CHEROKEE AND IRISH MYSELF AND DANNED PROUD OF IT BROTHER ! WISH YOU THE BEST IN ALL OF YOUR ENDEAVORS ! YOUR BROTHER FOR LIFE , Robert Lee Kerns- National HOG ( Harley Owners Group ) Member in Columbus, GA . P.S. Him a multi talented musician as well. 🎯♣🎼🎵🎶🎸, Drummer/ Percussionist and Bassist, etc. Be Blessed my Brother. 😎
Mr. Medlocke is an True Treasure to Music, If anyone has never watched the Documentary called THE INDIANS WHO ROCKED THE WORLD, You need to, he is in there, This Video is so Enlightening I learned so much watching it, things that I Never Knew, and things that American Rock & Roll Lovers Do Not Know, Like Jessie Ed Davis, he contributed so much to Music, People do not know, Cousin Figel
I have to share this story. I first heard about Lynyrd Skynyrd back in High School. I didn't know anything about the musicians because at the time I was a piano player. Some years ago when I took up guitar and bass, I heard a solo by Rickey Medlocke on "Everyman" and I heard an interview where Rickey talked about how he learned guitar and I was in love from then on with him as an artist. I admire his skills and although I'm more of a Hard Rock and Metal rocker I still love his band Blackfoot and I love Lynryd Skynyrd too. Def happy on his Hall of Fame performance🥰🎸 I'm going to play like Mr. Medlocke when I grow up!!
Seen these guys when I was 14 at dane County coliseum im Wisconsin im 58 now and still listen to them my first concert in my life exactly 187 concerts I been been two and still hitting all I can rock on ricky
Haha! My first concert was Def Leppard opening for Blackfoot. It was in Iowa. Blackfoot made Def Leppard look like amateurs. The solo he did at that time just blew my young mind. Thanks for reminding me! I am also 58.
I remember in 1979 pulling into a truck stop, getting the Strikes 8 track, we were like who's this awesome group. Saw them blow Molly Hatchet off the stage in 1980. Ricky called us and asked us to come and eat with him in 1995 he was a very nice fellow.
Oh hell yeah , some tasty numbers of the triple phat Ore-ganja on the back roads and a tasty set of Blackfoot blaring from my Pioneer super tuner I remember it well ! thank you Rickey , I'm glad you were among the pioneers of the southern rock🐊 sounds of the south movement in the early dayz🤘✌️jf
I met him on hot summer day, in Bean Blossom, Indiana... Gave him a cold beer, and he gave me a handshake and photo of us. One of my favorite artists !
Been following Blackfoot since the late 70s .. great band still ,but the original members kicked azz ..learned how to play guitar to this group .. still playing today ❤
Rickey "Rattlesnake" Medlocke...Saw them way back when he started Blackfoot. What a show in Little Rock. He and Jackson Spires chewed us up on their guitars and spit us out with nothing but Southern Rock fire.
Ricky called me and a friend and asked us to meet him in downtown Nashville to eat with him in 1995, he drove off in a van with a U haul hooked up..year later he would join Lynyrd Skynyrd. We grew up on Blackfoot, watched them blow Molly Hatchet off the stage in 1980. Jakson use to call me around 2000, he made some nice Indian jewelry.
If you ever saw Blackfoot opening for ted or at a festival, you KNOW: we all love LS…however, these gentlemen here? Yeah, Blackfoot ROCKS!!!!!!! Their bass player unwittingly influenced millions. His bass was like a depth charge that reached into your chest grabbed your spine and shook you around while asking is “anyone is home”. It was visceral it was a physical manifestation of everything in life that kicks ass!!!! Ricky Medlocke? The entire band is severely underrated. MAKE MINE BLACKFOOT. PS. I got the ‘40 Ford, the snakeskins on but never got a chance to hang with Doctor Jackson.
I saw Blackfoot blow Molly Hatchet off stage in the battle of the bands in Nashville Tennessee 1980. I when on to meet Ricky in the 90's ate with him, very nice person.
The Word LEGEND, IS OVERUSED, Not Here! Saw Him , In 1986, On North High Street, OSU Campus At The "NEWPORT" , MUSIC Venue!! Gary MOORE, WAS SITTING IN, Along With Stevie Nicks, Drummer And Keyboard Players! I Was So , Angry, As I Played , To 👀 See "BLACKFOOT!" BUT, AS The Concert Progressed , A Lot Less So... 😁👋 😝 Never Forget The Double Encore , With GARY And Ricky , Trading Licks & Doing Everything, From HENDRIX Covers, To BLUES!! 😎✌
Tired audience. Rickys been in the biz since the late 60s & played the stadiums & arenas, hasnt compromised his sound or style, very talented artist for sure.
I love Rickey Medlocke and the original Blackfoot, but why play here with hard rock musicians ? The second guitarist has a style that is really too different from the real Blackfoot, I really don't like it....
Rickey is one of the Southern rock legends left with us. As others have said, very under rated and under appreciated. He was with Skynyrd at the beginning and at the end. What a fabulous career. Thanks Rickey!
This man deserves more credit than he gets. Fantastic guitarist and vocalist. He's done a fine job in LS but Blackfoot is where its at for me.
Skynyrd just wasn’t the same after 77
Yep. Ricky is a special dude. Highway song is an all time great piece of music
For me too, and he is adding value to LS, but Blackfoot is the best, miss Jakson, everyone does.
🎉 Blackfoot was the real deal for Ricky... missing them
@@faze_cosm1c_284 Tak to tedy mockrát díky za informaci... 😏

You are special Ricky to the underrated rock southern bands
Strikes is an all time great rock album. My favorite thing about it is how it encapsulates a classic American Indian sound.

Rickey Medlocke deserves to be way more famous than he is.
Was this at the Seneca Allegany Casino?
🤘😎
Blackfoot is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO underrated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tired audience. Rickys been in the biz since the late 60s & played the stadiums & arenas, hasnt compromised his sound or style, very talented artist for sure.
What song was the first one he performed?
Wishing well 1972, wrote by the English group Free.
Blackfoot were trailblazers
I got cheated! I wanted to hear the long guitar extro from Highway Song...
1975 Pocono Raceway
Denise is my name I on other halfs phone!!!!
SOULJAH RiFFAGE
Why didn't he perform with the other two original Blackfoot members?
This is old footage
Medlocke doesen't get any better than the Tomcattin album. That is all.
Those Yanks need to stay home , geeez

If Rickey is not at the top of your singer, writer, player list what is wrong with you?!
I love Rickey Medlocke and the original Blackfoot, but why play here with hard rock musicians ? The second guitarist has a style that is really too different from the real Blackfoot, I really don't like it....
Love ricky , but paul rogers has him beat on this one
