Easily one of the best tutorials on modeling a head in Max. I find it easily understood and very concise. I thank you very much for taking the time and effort into teaching us.
Very nice tutorials .Informative and excellently enough for me.Really like the way you teach .And like to see some hard surface modeling please .And will be waiting for your next tutorials .Thank you .
This is the most in depth tutorial on facial topology I've seen on youtube thus far; I don't know wtf Sandra Fischer is smoking but this has absolutely changed my thinking as far as topology goes changing it from guessing "I think I should put 16 verts here" to "I'm doing the eye ring so I should use 12 verts" from this single idea I have extrapolated several different setups to quickly retopo my models; I can't thank you enough.
+LohTek thank you. Glad to help. Yeah, unfortunately this is TH-cam. I get way more positive feedback from commenters like yourself than negative ones like Sandra. You can't please everyone, but my job is to teach those who are willing to learn and put in the time.
you definitely have my subscription. This is an awesome tut. took me longer to make a modelling of myself and now...this tutorial makes it a lot faster and better. thanks buddy.
Thank you a lot for this tutorial. I can't even tell how many versions of a head were dumped prior to this tutorial. Very easy to understand, especially the number of polygons for each part. Subscribed immediately, keep up good work.
Very Good tutorial. I am just a hobbyist, though I bought my own 3ds at Release 4. I come to this from painting and drawing in tradtional media (in which I was trained). You have my Sub mister. I suppose it all depends what the geometry is going to be used for. The approach to the facial areas is splendid and I fell privileged to be 'in the club' of people that have seen your template for the areas of the face. One thing I keep meaning to do is spend a few hours / days , sketching loop lines on printed faces. I bet there are artists that do nothinbg else on their coffee breaks. All the newspapers in the cafe's have been 'looped'. I also would imagine there is a similar loop-section treatment for the general human figure too. That is my project. Thank You very much.
Tremendous tutorial, sir. Brilliantly done. I appreciated how you actually told us why you do what you do instead of just slapping some generic music in the background
This is sooo informative and well explained. Thank you show you so much for taking the time and effort to share your knowledge :) You deserve a tip, good sir.
I have a quick question. When at 20:00 you say you are 3 layers deep, was that a small mistake or do you not count the original eye polygons (the plane you started with) as a layer. Or am I, in fact, misunderstanding what you meant by layers?
hello there .... where can I find this type of pic, I mean front and right coz I want to model many others , like Real Madrid players and Barca players please answer
Make two planes and place one in the front view and one in the left view, you can copy the first one and rotate the second one 90 degrees, then create 2 materials each one with the image you want for the front and in the profile. apply them, and make them visible in the viewport, and that's all.
+Claudio Teixeira the mirroring is based off of your pivot point. Delete the mirrored objects. Select the object you wish to mirror. Go to the hierarchy panel. Select “Affect Pivot Point Only” and set the pivot to the point you want to mirror.
First of all...wow...excellent tutorials, and second of all...where did you find these references? I can't find them anywhere...or at least tell what did you write in google search :D...thank you so much
it'd be great if you could go over the shortcuts more, like with a little popup. like when you turn the eye purple you don't say what you did. other than that this video has been a great help. edit: nevermind, it was just you turning see through off wasn't it xD
Greetings Saif. Once you have completed my head and body tutorials you can merge both 3ds max scenes together. This is assuming you made each part in separate scene files. Go to file, highlight import which will open the features for importing and select merge. If you have the body file open, locate the head file and merge it. Once both objects are in the same scene, scale the objects so they are proportional. Select the body, go to the modify tab and in the editable poly tools use "Attach". Select the head and they will become one object. Now you can bridge polygons and merge and weld vertices to attach the head to the body.
Appreciate it dude, and if u dont mind to make a video how to create an animation clip. It s so imporant to me . Just to show us the steps of that not like a real animation . Thanks in advance
I just got finished recording the "How to Merge and Attach 3D Models" video. It will be up this afternoon. Please check back for it. What would you specifically like to learn as far as animation? I'd be happy to make that.
Nowadays | sculpt a face in zbrush and then do a retopology on it. But don´t get me wrong this knowledge is still valid, specially concerning edge loops/flow
I had a feeling this is what you meant. I teach at an Art Institute. This is supplemental for one of my intro modeling classes. Zbrush is such a great tool. I am jealous at the advancements to 3D modeling using Zbrush over this old way.

What an amazingly clear and easy to understand tutorial. Hats off to you. I love the detail you go into about correct topology too :)

Wow. You made this a lot more simple than the others... You've earned a sub, my friend
First off, great user name. Secondly, thank you. I'm glad to help.
Lol, thank you, and you're welcome m8
thanks for all of these tuts.. these awesome loop tec.
No problem. Glad you enjoy them. Spread the word please. Thanks for taking the time to let me know. It means a lot.
Great. Thank you for sharing.
you saved my raven, I was quiet lost, THANK YOU, I JUST SUBSCRIBED!

why i cant duplicate at 27:02
pls answerr
Ty for this, you have earned a new subscriber :)
Thank you!
Thank you! 👍👍👍
By any chance do you have the reference face models for that. That I can use?

Thanx for cool tutorial :) subscribed.
I would have used "Modify -> Simmetry" to clone my real-time workflow. Is this Mirror way better?
Great help, Thanks!
Can you put the reference photos?
hello there ....
where can I find this type of pic, I mean front and right
coz I want to model many others , like Real Madrid players and Barca players
please answer
Awesome, thanks Dude.
Could you fix the ref link plz?
Sir ! plsz teach us how to set reference images..... as u done. thank u..

Hi, thanks for share your knowledge, great tutorials, can you send me the EdgeloopReference file? just for study for future models, i'm learning.
Why isn't my mirroring doing the same as yours? Rather than put them side by side, the two mirrored objects are inside one another.
+Claudio Teixeira the mirroring is based off of your pivot point. Delete the mirrored objects. Select the object you wish to mirror. Go to the hierarchy panel. Select “Affect Pivot Point Only” and set the pivot to the point you want to mirror.

You won't find these online. I did some work for Marvel years ago and these were provided to the artists working on that game.
very helpful, helped me learn how to make better head geometry =]
Glad you found it helpful.

Hi? could anyone tell me how can model the head alone then attach to body
now im one of ur subs plz answer ???

Omg thanks, u r the best thanks for reply dude
You are very welcome. Thank you for subbing. I will try and make a video specifically to this topic. Take care!

lol Dax Sheppard got a day away and decided to follow his true passion. 3d modelling.
I use to model like that 10 years ago... Good memories... Not so great results... XD
Interesting. What method do you prefer?
