      I can attest to that. I am no rap fan (Tull, E.John, Abba, Dark Tranquillity, Infected Mushroom), but this album has a special place in my collection. Listened to this on the car CD player on repeat for weeks. Love it! Plastic Beach too.

    yeah, it's definitely meant to be cinematic. the thing about Gorillaz is that every album is a concept album that follows a story (in an abstract way). you can go on a deep dive into Gorillaz lore for HOURS, there's a whole saga that the characters representing the band have been going through since the start.

    Gorillaz is a fictional band, all the vocals and music are done by Damon Albarn (from the band Blur) and a bunch of guest musicians he brings in on every album

    • @anthonyalienz
      @anthonyalienz 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +40

      Very important to know this when listening to Gorillaz. Damon Albarn is basically the musical genius behind them with vocals and instruments, bringing in other artist. And Jamie Hewlett creates the artwork and story behind the albums.

    The beauty about Gorillaz is the type of music that doesn’t have to cater to a type of music or image. Like if a band has a rock or country or pop which has a standard structure. Total freedom as music creators. I also want reiterate that Plastic Beach next. Will even bring up that Snoop and so much more is on that album

  • @kylewagenaar5786

    Gorillaz is one musician and one animator. They feature underrated artists to portray other members of the "band". De La Soul, MF Doom, and Del The Funky Homosapien are some of my favourite collabs. they also get celebrities sometimes like having Bruce Willis in a music video and Jack Black in another music video, also Snoop Dogg has been in multiple songs.

    If you want more music that makes you see things in your head you definitely have to listen to Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd. Its a timeless album that 3 generations of my family have listened to.

    Plastic Beach is great and Song Mashine is by far the best since Demon Days, Cracker Island is also on a very high spot on the list and their newest album. In between they had some not as great ones with only a few memorable songs but overall grood music across the board.
    Their main strength is that they do not participate in one specific genre but are all over the place so even you do not like all their songs as much you will allways find some that will blow you away for sure.
    The fun fact is even they are not as known as other artists they are actually well known in the music industry with lots of big names trying to do something with them.
    For example: Snoop dog, Elton 'John, John Black and even some actors as well like Bruce Willis that get a Cameo in one of their music videos (which by the way are even greater than just hearing the song)
    If you want to name what genre Gorillaz belong to well in short it is basically Gorillaz!

    Every time I replay 'All Alone' I have the privilege of being reminded, just how fucking good that song is.
    Also, Gorillaz is one person with tons of featuring artists. The story goes that Damon Albarn the lead singer of a popular British band called Blur was tired of the music being played on MTV, and instead of just compaining about it, he set out to create pop music with a message and a soul.
    P.S. the reason it sounds like Arctic Monkeys, is because Arctic Monkeys sound like Blur.
