  • I made some modifications to my DIY chemical fume hood after the bathroom exhaust fan I was using in it failed. Now I am using a boat bilge blower. I am hopeful it will last longer and work better. Please visit www.mdpub.com/U... for more information.

I like your idea to use a bilge fan. They are sealed well to be explosion proof. However it will be interesting to see how long it lasts since bilge blowers are meant to be used intermittently. Also another guy on TH-cam made a fume hood and used a clear plastic top and put the light on the outside shining down through the top to prevent corrosion from fumes.

Panasonic makes bathroom vent fans. I use them throughout my houseand their amazing. Never buy a vent fan from a home improvement retail store. They only sell no quality garbage in store. HD AND LOWES sells the Panasonic online. They should work well for your project.

While you were mounting your fume hood I was asking myself, AREN'T THE FUMES HIGHLY CORROSIVE??
    Good job anyway ;)
