I mean, the ONE thing that Trump (from an unbiased strategic point of view) did right, is he appointed YOUNG justices to the supreme court, therefore making sure that his hateful influence on the SC is there for decades to come.
Of the current SCJ, Sotomayor was the oldest at the day of her appointment with 55 years old.

The real priority is in choosing the best person for the job, and I truly believe Anita Hill would fit the bill both in terms of qualifications and political considerations as well.

The reason the Founders gave Supreme Court Justices lifetime appointments was to keep politics out of the Court. The idea being once they are in, they are not subject to political pressure. The accountability to the people you speak of comes down to who you vote for in Congress and President.
