The fact that this video is: 1. An hour long 2. A horror game 3. By Chilla's arts Is an absolutely great combination. I really can't get enough of their games.
The thumbnail is actually a painting roughly translated to "I can't be your wife anymore" by Yuko Tatsushima! Her work is supposed to express the grief she experienced after sexual abuse, however she is often forgotten as the painting is now mainly associated with the creepy pasta Tomino's hell.
11:20 "The boyfriend had no leg" is probably saying that he's a ghost. I think "leg" was supposed to be plural (there's no plurality difference in most Japanese nouns), and in Japan, ghosts don't have legs.
Like that one Japanese ghost myth of a ghost girl with *NO LEGS* that, once some makes eye contact with her, the ghost attacks the victim by slicing their body in half, through the waist. The myth says the ghost hates the color red, and mainly targets those who are wearing red.
I think the _most_ horrifying thing is watching Sean driving down a dimly-lit road at night, eyes glued to the map on his passenger-side seat. That's how you _start_ a ghost story, my dude -- with _you_ as the ghost!
@@jeffreytenthije Sean's mentioned similar ideas in the past -- stuck in a spooky environment, no idea what's going on, everyone you meet is either trying to kill you or avoiding you... and then the twist is, _you_ were the horror-trope monster all along. It's a wonder he hasn't tried making a game himself, the man's got some good ideas.
I know it's a horror game but they are always so shaded and dark. I would love to see a game so creepy it would scare you to death in the bright sunlight.
Horror games wouldn't be as creepy/scary if they were in the day. You wouldn't be able to create the right atmosphere, the normal horror stuff wouldn't be anywhere near as effective and it just wouldn't work overall. I'd love to be proved wrong, but I unfortunately don't see that happening for once.
I like how in the beginning (at least for me watching) the car was a safe space. It was a pause from the possibilities of jump scares so you could get to the next section. Then… it slowly became an area that was just as unsafe. This was a great aspect of a horror game and really added to the fear.
Anyone else catch that Jack actually got the number as soon as he got the UV light? He just flashed it over the front of the vending machine for a second and it came up with "4", but he didn't notice. Also, I love he said "Honey, I'm trash". I say that to my dog whenever I come home from work or the shops. Loved the House Flipper series.
also if i recall correctly, 4 is an unlucky number in japan because one of the pronunciations is similar to the word for death (correct me if I'm wrong)
It’s kind of a shame that this particular art piece has only been associated with something akin to a creepypasta. The artist who made it, Yuko Tatsushima, is incredibly talented, and her work really deserves to be recognized for its intention. Her gallery of work is at once horrifying and tragic, it explores themes of SA, misogyny, a traumatic relationship to womanhood and the expectations thereof- it’s a grim and harrowing glimpse into the mind of someone who has seen the darkest horrors of being a woman in our world, and lived to tell the tale. Especially as a man, it’s very illuminating- and very disheartening. If you haven’t looked her up, I highly suggest doing so. A creator here on TH-cam, Blind Dweller, has an excellent video on her work, and I recommend checking it out.
That you so much for sharing! Now i know who the artist is after so many years, i just saw some piece and you are right. All great works of art that are tragic and horrifying, very underrated artist!
Never seen SA in this context, what does it mean? Edit, Saw someone answer but can’t see the comment so SAssult is banned from TH-cam apparently. Thanks for the answer
Tomino's Hell is a notorious damned poem believed to curse or even kill anyone who reads it out loud. It's also the inspiration for ''The darkness of Tonako'' since the it starts with ''Little brother burns hot, and the older sister exhales a blue breath'' and the start of Tomino's Hell is ''His older sister vomited blood, his younger sister vomited fire''
Just wanted to say thank you for this information, I had never heard of Tomino's Hell before, so I was very confused. But learning it's a real thing added an extra layer to my appreciation for this game, so thank you for sharing!

The face used for Tomino’s Hell came from a painting called “I can’t be a wife anymore” by the artist Yuko Tatsushima. If you love disturbing art, I highly recommend looking up her work.
@@RookieGlasses there’s a TH-cam channel called Blind Dweller, and he actually introduced me to her art in his video called “The Harrowing Dreams of Yuko Tatsushima”.
Fun fact about the Tomino's Hell poem The art that is most commonly seen with it, the woman with the long neck, is a painting made by a woman named Yuko Tatsushima, the painting's title can be roughly translated to "I can never be a bride", there is a lot of meaning behind the painting and that's why Tatsushima is one of my favorite painters :) Edit: The piece /is/ about SA, I didn't want to bring that up, though.
@@hey-ty7yu I've heard hearsay that she has bipolar disorder and used art to vent about that along with the passing of her mother but I can't confirm anything.
The art for "Tomino's Hell" not only has a full body version but was done by a Japanese woman named Yuko Tatsushima. She bases her art off of trauma and sexual assault she's faced. The fact ppl saw this image and made a Creepy Pasta off of it seems a little disrespectful in my opinion. Also, the original name for that piece is something like "I can't be a bride anymore"
To be fair, odds are, people just thought it was creepy and didn’t look into the meaning of the art. I agree it’s a little disrespectful, I feel like people weren’t intentionally disrespecting SA victims.
I decided to look up her art and stumbled across multiple recreations of the painting on deviantart with bigger chests, its almost like they're sexualizing it? it's disgusting
I know the audio and the subtitles don't really match as it went on with just the actual story but I'd like to say that at some point eg. at 32:55 Masaki was confused about the sentences in the letter as it seems that Toko was inconsistently writing with different characters (from hiragana to katakana when you'd only use when using borrowed words, so it is weird) other stuff would be : 34:16 where it lines up with the audio at 34:32 34:55 (み→ミ) The distorted word is actually "nami" (なみ- wave) I think but the MI is mostly affected 41:15 "no (の - a particle referring to possession)" was written to its katakana (ノ) 41:49 another "no (の)" 42:33 "he" (へ) was highlighted 43:08 くるしみ→くルしみ” the ”ru” from ”kurushimi - suffering/grief" was highlighted combine that and you'll get : TO MI NO NO HE RU (トミノのヘル) eng ver : TO MI NO S HE LL (TOMINO'S HELL) well just wanna say it's great that the translator of the script went on and took parts of the translated words to mimic the real Japanese version of the letters that players/Masaki needs to pay attention to. shit was cool. props to the developers and the voice actor as well, the concept was fun as heck.
I was looking for this comment! I was impressed as well. As soon as I heard him stop and say, "ト?" I immediately thought, "Oh, someone swapped it out for Katakana." It doesn't translate well because of the context of what the first character was referring to, which I think was also an incorrect usage of the particle (but that may just be my own speculation), but the way the adaptation did it still allowed English speakers to enjoy it, as you said :)
This is weird that the subtitles are off so parts of the story are completely missing. I speak Japanese so I’ll translate all the missing parts! 31:35 When I went to the hospital as usual, the docTOr responsible for my brother was standing in front of the room. He took me to the consultation room, and told me that my brother doesn’t have long to live. Probably around 1 month. (Here’s is where it goes into the TO part written in the subtitles)
The "to" being used in that (although it isn't in the word doctor in the Japanese version) was also likely written in Katakana to add to the creepiness factor and emphasize the character itself. That is why he stops and becomes confused about how the note is written.
@@loizzzzzz9882 It's the borrowed alphabet in Japanese, which is used to make words that are not native to their language. For example, in hirigana, "banana" doesn't mean anything. However, in Katakana, it translates to the fruit! The word is borrowed from English.
@@BlackRosesBloom-Emily_Rose Yes, that's right. It wasn't likely written in Katakana, Masaki tells the audience that it is written in katakana (of course that gets translated to "capitals" which don't exist in the Japanese language) so what it really said was 担当医 たんとい which means the nurse responsible or doctor, but it said たんトい with the "to" in Katakana for the to in Tomino. Of course this mixing of the letters in Japanese makes the letters much harder to read which is why Masaki struggles.
Really cool how Chilla's Art made a game based off of Tomino's Hell. I remember reading the poem out loud with my group home brothers a few years back in the gaming room, fun times. Though the curse isn't real, the poem is really good and pretty chilling for a first time read. If you're wondering the author was Saijō Yaso who published Tomino's Hell in 1919. As for the artist who made the picture often associated with Tomino's Hell, their name is Yuko Tatsushima. Though the two pieces of art have nothing to do with each other, they do fit quite well and I highly recommend checking out the works of both Yuko and Saijō.
Thank god the curse isn’t real I mean as Muslim I wouldn’t believe shit like this would be but it is still just such a creepy idea something that u read kills u or brings bad omen
JACK! You would love “Who's Lila?” It's a reverse horror point and click game, David Lynch style surrealism with facial expression mechanics! You communicate to characters in the game by manipulating facial expressions on the main character. It just came out recently Title correction* and personally I'm chill with the Chilla
As someone who hardcore believes in paranormal stuff, I looked up Tomino's Hell and read like the first line (in my head, not aloud) and immediately went "nope, not tempting fate like this" and looked away from it. Even if it is just an urban legend, I am NOT risking it.
I don't believe in ghosts, but things like that still creep me out. And hey if i can avoid dying like a horror movie character i will! Not reading that shit
I read it in English and in Japanese once to prove a point to my little sister. I'm just fine! Matter of fact, my health is getting to be better lately than it has been in years! Please don't let superstition rule your mind and actions! God bless!
@@Voc_spooksauce Right? Like, a bunch of people I know who don't believe in stuff like this are like "but on the off chance this IS real, I'm not gonna mess with it" 😂
It's one of those things where I'm skeptical, since I believe most of the paranormal things that have been reported can be explained by normal means. But I also believe that theres a LOT of things we don't understand in our universe, and I'm not gonna be the guy that ends up proving ghosts and stuff exists. No sir, I'm good, I'll leave that to anyone crazy enough to try, thank you very much.
Tomino’s Hell is a notorious damned poem believed to curse or even kill anyone who reads it out loud. Saijo Yaso, a famous Japanese poet, wrote the poem after the end of World War I. Many believe he explained his suffering through the poem as his father died during the war. On the contrary, others have given different meanings to the poem and related Tomino’s descent to hell as the suffering of a soldier during a war. The poem gained notoriety when people suffered losses after reading the poem. It is also believed that a young girl died few moments after reading the poem. People complained of having sharp headaches, muscular spasms, or malaise after reading the poem; hence, declaring the poem cursed.
If anyone's wondering what the recorder was for, based on ManlyBadassHero's own playthrough, it basically leads to the first ending Sean got (he dies) with the difference being the protagonist recording himself to warn others about the poem before he dies. There's also an additional bit after that shows text of people talking online via forum post (I assume) about the poem and the recording protag left
One thing that really allured me while watching you play this is how intriguing the story is. That moment at 50:05-50:58 where the room started filling up with water and that thing popped out of the water is some of the creepiest things I've seen

Petition for Jack to play “It Steals”. From what I’ve seen it’s a good horror game in the tape recorder style of graphics, which focuses on stressful gameplay, so it seems right up Jacks alley.
Idk if this was mentioned but I love the way the letters are made to seem like they're about some other girls toko knew but then the perspective turns back to first person, showing all this happened to toko
Played this game and gotta say, Japanese inspired/horror games are really one of the hidden gems in the horror genre. Japan knows how to make creepy shit I swear
Because they focus on genuine fear while most american “horror” just says “well if the audience jumps that means theyre scared right?”. American horror is content with just stuffing their stories with jumpscares that are more startling than horrific or gore to make you squeamish, while japanese horror focuses more on psychological aspects, atmosphere, and getting into your head to genuinely unnerve you
54:38 The artwork that you always see when you look up Tomino's Hell is by the artist Yuko Tatsuhima. I believe she doesn't have anything to do with Tomino's Hell and the imagine has just been used for that poem. That being said, her artwork is really creepy and surreal so if you're into that, look up her up. Honestly the image used for Tomino's Hell is nothing compared to her other works.
I knew I recognized the picture and the name! When the letters came out to “Tomino’s Hell” I got a smack of nostalgia and immediately had to look it up. Turns out, when I was in middle school/early high school, I was really into Saya in the Underworld and Japanese scary stories/urban legends, etc. I even played the Elevator Game in my grandparent’s condo. I remember reading about Tomino’s Hell during that time, and I remember that painting too. I don’t believe the two are related but I always see them together. Wow! Really brings me back. I remember reading “Eight Feet Tall” and “Red Paper Blue Paper”, I remember Solitary Hide and Go Seek, etc. etc. I consider myself to be skeptical in that I don’t believe in the supernatural, but since you can’t disprove something that doesn’t exist, the non-zero percent chance that it IS real is always enough to make my monkey brain get nervous. I get scared of spooky things because… what if? (It took me a very long time to work up the courage to play the Bloody Mary game lol) Even so, I’m pretty sure I read Tomino’s Hell out loud back then and I’m still alive five years later. What will always stand out to me though was how much the Elevator Game affected me. It will forever be the most visceral experience of fear that I’ve ever felt and what makes me believe so strongly in the POWER of terror. I did the game thinking nothing would happen. To those of you who aren’t aware, you play the game in an elevator with at least ten floors. You go in the elevator and send it to a series of different floors (I don’t remember the order but you can look it up). If anyone enters the elevator during the game, you have to try again. I remember there were rules about what to do if someone entered the elevator and how to safely start over, but there was a particular bit about how when you get to the fifth floor, a woman might get on the elevator with you. Apparently, she is not human. I knew it was bullshit, I knew it was bogus, but when I clicked the button for floor five I started sweating, my knees were shaking so bad my legs almost gave out, I had dry mouth, my vision got blurry, and I was adamantly standing in the corner by the buttons staring at the floor the entire time. No one got on the elevator with me. It was broad daylight in Florida, probably in the early afternoon or so. I carried out the rest of the sequence and when the elevator took me to the first floor instead of diverting to the tenth when I hit the button for the first floor (if it works, supposedly you go to floor ten) I followed the rules and walked straight back home without looking back, because that’s what you’re supposed to do and since I was playing I figured I should follow the rules exactly. I wrote the sequence on my hand, I wrote it on a piece of paper in my pocket, I memorized it and wrote it on my phone, all to make sure I did the sequence correctly (because supposedly some people find that their minds get confused or warped and messing up the sequence can be “dangerous”). Obviously, nothing happened. No one got on the elevator with me, I didn’t see or hear or feel anything paranormal, and the elevator definitely didn’t magically decide to go to a different floor than the one I asked it to. And yet, and YET, I was terrified. Because what if? What if it is real? What if it actually works about I get myself seriously hurt? Tortured for eternity? Trapped in limbo or in an alternative dimension with no way home? What if I just see something I wasn’t supposed to and am traumatized for life? The raw possibility of it, that non-zero percent chance was enough to practically debilitate me. I nearly had an anxiety attack because of it, all because the power of my brain was so strong it was enough to tell me that I wasn’t safe. Anyway, this is a lot and if you read all the way down, thanks! I don’t believe in the paranormal but if you do any sort of ghost hunting, spirit games, etc. make sure you stay safe. Even if there are no ghosts, you can still be hurt by the living. Take care, and feel free to share any stories you have like mine! I’d love to read about them ^u^
That’s a good one bro I was also like thinking to play Bloody Mary, Charlie Charlie or read the poem because of the thought of being fake but also in the moment of actually doing it, I came over some tremendous fear so I ended up never doing it.

Out of all the games chilla's art have made, this one has to be my favorite one. The voice acting was amazing and the storyline was roller coaster ride plus seeing jack amazing driving skills, even better.
This game really gives me the chills considering that it's based on the cursed poem or some sort. I think this is my favorite Chilla's arts game though I've only watched the gameplays but I really like the story of this one.
I live in an area that has tons of cicadas every summer, so I hardly even noticed them at all. That's so neat that other people found them unnerving though, this comment really reminded me of how much different experiences will impact even little things!
A friend & I had a conversation about this recently. Something about cicadas can be relaxing at night but also very easy to use for horrifying things. Evangelion isn't horror but I can recall evangelion using cicada noises I think!
I love that jack plays this game, gets engaged for an hour+, seems to have a good time, but still critiques the devs and their execution of mechanics. It's great that he has the ability to have fun with art, appreciate art, and critique it. Beautiful :)
I think the reasons why UV lights can be disturbing/scary/unnerving to someone is probably because A) As sean said, they're normally associated with horror stuff B) They show you stuff that isn't mean to be said but they only show you traces and clues. You're the one that has to make the logic of them. And that could end up being... pretty scary.
Jack: "If I'm going to be driving out on the street, I need to be careful" Seconds later, Jack drives like a psychopath and parks in the middle of the street, literally ten feet from an actual parking spot
52:34, 1:01:06 The poem you read out loud was titled The Darkness of Tonako, but it was clearly inspired by Tomino's Hell (both have a similar theme). Like you said, Tomino's Hell is a Japanese poem believed to curse or even kill anyone who reads it out loud. It was written by Japanese poet Saijō Yaso after World War I (many believe the poem portrays his suffering due to his father's death during the war). Here's the full poem in English: "Elder sister vomits blood, younger sister’s breathing fire while sweet little Tomino just spits up the jewels. All alone does Tomino go falling into that hell, a hell of utter darkness, without even flowers. Is Tomino’s big sister the one who whips him? The purpose of the scourging hangs dark in his mind. Lashing and thrashing him, ah! But never quite shattering. One sure path to Avici, the eternal hell. Into that blackest of hells guide him now, I pray- to the golden sheep, to the nightingale. How much did he put in that leather pouch to prepare for his trek to the eternal hell? Spring is coming to the valley, to the wood, to the spiraling chasms of the blackest hell. The nightingale in her cage, the sheep aboard the wagon, and tears well up in the eyes of sweet little Tomino. Sing, o nightingale, in the vast, misty forest- he screams he only misses his little sister. His wailing desperation echoes throughout hell- a fox peony opens its golden petals. Down past the seven mountains and seven rivers of hell- the solitary journey of sweet little Tomino. If in this hell they be found, may they then come to me, please, those sharp spikes of punishment from Needle Mountain. Not just on some empty whim Is flesh pierced with blood-red pins: they serve as hellish signposts for sweet little Tomino."
@@paisleesheppard5629 Indeed: it's the lowest level of the Naraka (the Buddhist hell realm). It's a hell of incessant (avīchi is Sanskrit for "incessant" or "without interruption") suffering, whose dwellers are consumed in flames.
ive only seen two of chilla's arts games, but i am so obsessed. my sister thinks that they're boring but i love how they really take time to build an atmosphere
My father passed away on Sunday, thank you for the content you make, I've seen people through the years say things like "your content really helped me out through the hard times", now I know exactly what all those people mean, you're genuinely saving a lot of people by just being yourself, so once again, thank you🖤
Chillas art is the best horror developer I've seen in a while, it just shows that you don't need to have the best graphics or animation to have a truly fun and scary game
I had no idea what that meant, i guessed it could've been a story but had no clue it was such a big thing. Good thing i didn't read the poem outloud when it showed on screen huehue
I love how this man's plays a horror game but gets so fantasized over his parking job and is not scared whatsoever that anything could possibly happen around him makes me laugh this is why his videos are enjoyable and funny. THIS IS BANGERS!!!
That would be me, telling the haunted place to 'hang on, don't go anywhere, I think I left my window down. Oh. I forgot the handbrake. Stay haunted! 5 minutes!' 😂
man, I 'm so glad Sean has played so many horror games over the years. I'm a huge horror fan but when it comes to videogames I'm such a fuckin chicken to go through with most of them. Movies, books, music, no problem, but video games NAH DUDE. The amount of videogame horror I've experienced through Sean throughout the years is INSANE.
For me it seems to be the opposite. Only books can make me uneasy or "creep" me out. The imagination is very powerful. The moment someone draws it out for me (movies or games), it no longer scares me. /:
I remember reading tominos hell with my friend. They got a nose bleed and freaked out. I also got scared cause it was primary school and of course we would believe that. They were fine but it's still a fun memory lol
I really am stunned to see that they implemented how we actually drive a car on hills, sometimes it's like you can't see the road and nervousness kicks in which causes an accident. fuckin gold 👍🏻
I'm so happy watching Jack recently. Finding myself watching him regularly again just like I did in middle school & highschool. His content is still just as fun, entertaining, & introducing me to many cool games. Comforting too. Thank you Sean/Jack, Glad I've had this to grow up with :)
I love how Sean is doing longer game play throughs, really interesting to explore the majority of the stories and to see Sean’s reactions to them. Especially horror! 😃
I'm digging all these Chilla's Art games you've been playing. It would seem like Gab is rubbing off on you. Also, your vids playing Observation Duty with her have been awesome, too. In fact, all of your content has been better than ever lately. Keep on being awesome!
This is definitely one of my fav Chilla’s Art games. I like that there’s a ton of explorable areas and I link the stories even though the subtitles need work.
I feel like Chilla’s art games always look more realistic the darker they are like at the beginning before he turned on the flashlight the wall he was looking at looked so real.
Tomino's Hell is a nice bit of urban legend history. It intrigues me even though I don't really consider myself superstitious and more often than not don't see things like walking under a ladder, or saying bloody Mary 3 times in front of a mirror to be anything more than hysteria wildfire. However, the painting depicted with Tomino's hell is a rather sad association. Yuko Tatsushima's "I can no longer be a bride," or "Watashi wa mo hanayome ni hanaramasen," the lady with the truncated neck in the painting commonly associated with the poem, doesn't really have anything to with it at all. It just so happens internet culture stuck the two together and called it a day. The picture itself is symbolic of the darker side of female life, depicting the cruelty of misogyny and SA, a far cry from the poet's intentions of supposedly depicting the slow and painful death of his father during post world war Japan.
"a professional who has been doing this for nearly 10 years" Jack, sometimes you don't have to say anything. That hit me with the reality I am no longer 15.
it's amazing to me how this game was so calm at first, but then that first jumpscare with the ghost on the back of the vehicle made me paranoid for the rest of the dang video.
Just going to say this, I loved how he ended it. I honestly wasn't expecting it and was literally about to exit out of the video when it happened. A+ video.
I feel like I would love to see him play a couple games of Phasmo again since it's updated to hell since he's played and gotten a lot creepier. Get the group and play a couple rounds?
1:36, this is like the one time I was reading to my little sister as a kid, and we tried reading A Christmas Carol, and the first line was “Marley was dead.” We couldn’t stop cackling as we read and reread the first line over and over again 🤣 Eventually we got past it, but my sister ended up falling asleep half way through the rest of the book.
55:08 Jack: ... don't tempt fate, and talk about banshees... *Toko throws herself from the tower* Jack: OH GOD! The timing was so perfect at this part 🤣🤣🤣
I know he probably won’t see this but Jacksepticeye has helped me through my Hard times watching his laugh video and meme times help me he is the first person I would watch when I was suicidal. He is the best person and he my inspiration for making videos
Same dude, I'm glad I've been able to meet to so many kind kind people in this community, he's saved so many lives and is an absolute goat, I hope youre doing well stranger :)
The thumbnail/the image that Sean later shows in the video is actually an art piece by someone named Yuko Tatsushima! Her art is very scary yet beautiful, she also makes dolls. There's a lot of creepypasta surrounding her art for its scaryness!
Not sure if someone said this already but there are 3 endings to the game, Jack obviously got 2 of them and for anyone who wants to know what the other ending is just press show more The ending that Jack didn't get is basically just the same as the first one, the only difference is that Haruo uses the voice recorder to warn everyone about the poem and to NOT read it out loud. The recording and the poem gets passed on as an urban legend and since people are stupid ( or maybe ballsy ) no one took it seriously and others started reading the poem out loud and of course, gets killed
The fact that this video is:
1. An hour long
2. A horror game

Oh sweet that’s cool!

Imagine that as game concept though, thinking you are the one being hunted in a game, but instead you are the hunter
@@jeffreytenthije Sean's mentioned similar ideas in the past -- stuck in a spooky environment, no idea what's going on, everyone you meet is either trying to kill you or avoiding you... and then the twist is, _you_ were the horror-trope monster all along.

Horror games wouldn't be as creepy/scary if they were in the day. I like how in the beginning (at least for me watching) the car was a safe space. It was a pause from the possibilities of jump scares so you could get to the next section. Then… it slowly became an area that was just as unsafe. This was a great aspect of a horror game and really added to the fear.
not to mention the ghosts noises that just sounded like whale mating sounds to me. Lol

Tomino's Hell is a notorious damned poem believed to curse or even kill anyone who reads it out loud. It's also the inspiration for ''The darkness of Tonako'' since the it starts with ''Little brother burns hot, and the older sister exhales a blue breath'' and the start of Tomino's Hell is ''His older sister vomited blood, his younger sister vomited fire''
when i realized that the letters were spelling that i legit froze in fear lol
Also “I fall, and I fall, and yet I haven’t fallen “ sounds a lot like “Hit, hit, hit without hitting “.

Fun fact about the Tomino's Hell poem
The art that is most commonly seen with it, the woman with the long neck, is a painting made by a woman named Yuko Tatsushima, the painting's title can be roughly translated to "I can never be a bride", there is a lot of meaning behind the painting and that's why Tatsushima is one of my favorite painters :)
Edit: The piece /is/ about SA, I didn't want to bring that up, though.
Didn't the artist mention that be painted this in a dark time of her life, like it was a vent piece or something?
@@hey-ty7yu I've heard hearsay that she has bipolar disorder and used art to vent about that along with the passing of her mother but I can't confirm anything.
Aha, no wonder I thought the thumbnail looked familiar.
First time I saw the painting was in a different horror game called Dungeon Nightmares, dont remember if Sean ever played it.
@@SADS4TANAS i think it was about her trauma from being sexually abused at a young age
The name of the art piece was, "I can't be your wife anymore."
I decided to look up her art and stumbled across multiple recreations of the painting on deviantart with bigger chests, its almost like they're sexualizing it? it's disgusting
The title is so heart breaking considering what she went through
are you a girl
I know the audio and the subtitles don't really match as it went on with just the actual story but I'd like to say that at some point eg. at 32:55 Masaki was confused about the sentences in the letter as it seems that Toko was inconsistently writing with different characters (from hiragana to katakana when you'd only use when using borrowed words, so it is weird)
other stuff would be :
34:16 where it lines up with the audio at 34:32
34:55 (み→ミ)
The distorted word is actually "nami" (なみ- wave) I think but the MI is mostly affected
41:15 "no (の - a particle referring to possession)" was written to its katakana (ノ)
41:49 another "no (の)"
42:33 "he" (へ) was highlighted
43:08 くるしみ→くルしみ”
the ”ru” from ”kurushimi - suffering/grief" was highlighted
combine that and you'll get :
TO MI NO NO HE RU (トミノのヘル)
eng ver : TO MI NO S HE LL (TOMINO'S HELL)
well just wanna say it's great that the translator of the script went on and took parts of the translated words to mimic the real Japanese version of the letters that players/Masaki needs to pay attention to. shit was cool. props to the developers and the voice actor as well, the concept was fun as heck.
That is interesting, clever.
this is really interesting thank you!
Thank you
The "to" being used in that (although it isn't in the word doctor in the Japanese version) was also likely written in Katakana to add to the creepiness factor and emphasize the character itself. That is why he stops and becomes confused about how the note is written.
@@BlackRosesBloom-Emily_Rose I keep seeing everyone talking about katakana what is katakana?

(It took me a very long time to work up the courage to play the Bloody Mary game lol)
Even so, I’m pretty sure I read Tomino’s Hell out loud back then and I’m still alive five years later.

The constant sound of cicadas in the background was so unnerving for some reason. Damn, Chilla's Art never disappoints.
Is that what it is? XD sounded like someone drinking a potion in minecraft non-stop
@@LoneWolf-qq9oy That's honestly what it sounds like
I live in an area that has tons of cicadas every summer, so I hardly even noticed them at all.
I live in the South, so it's lowkey comforting. I don't notice it consciously much, but it eases my tension a tad bit, just instinctively.
I love that jack plays this game, gets engaged for an hour+, seems to have a good time, but still critiques the devs and their execution of mechanics. It's great that he has the ability to have fun with art, appreciate art, and critique it. Beautiful :)
I think the reasons why UV lights can be disturbing/scary/unnerving to someone is probably because
A) As sean said, they're normally associated with horror stuff
B) They show you stuff that isn't mean to be said but they only show you traces and clues. You're the one that has to make the logic of them. And that could end up being... pretty scary.
Jack: "If I'm going to be driving out on the street, I need to be careful"
Seconds later, Jack drives like a psychopath and parks in the middle of the street, literally ten feet from an actual parking spot
Jack making Chilla's Art content is somehow one of the most comforting things I've experienced, please keep them up Jack
Here's the full poem in English:
"Elder sister vomits blood,
younger sister’s breathing fire
while sweet little Tomino
just spits up the jewels.
All alone does Tomino
go falling into that hell,
a hell of utter darkness,
without even flowers.
Is Tomino’s big sister
the one who whips him?
The purpose of the scourging
hangs dark in his mind.
Lashing and thrashing him, ah!
But never quite shattering.
One sure path to Avici,
the eternal hell.
Into that blackest of hells
guide him now, I pray-
to the golden sheep,
to the nightingale.
How much did he put
in that leather pouch
to prepare for his trek to
the eternal hell?
Spring is coming
to the valley, to the wood,
to the spiraling chasms
of the blackest hell.
The nightingale in her cage,
the sheep aboard the wagon,
and tears well up in the eyes
of sweet little Tomino.
Sing, o nightingale,
in the vast, misty forest-
he screams he only misses
his little sister.
His wailing desperation
echoes throughout hell-
a fox peony
opens its golden petals.
Down past the seven mountains
and seven rivers of hell-
the solitary journey
of sweet little Tomino.
If in this hell they be found,
may they then come to me, please,
those sharp spikes of punishment
from Needle Mountain.
Not just on some empty whim
Is flesh pierced with blood-red pins:
they serve as hellish signposts
for sweet little Tomino."
Is it okay if I read it in my head?
@@Inhalingtoxins It's just if you read it out loud, don't worry!
I'm assuming Avici here refers to some kind of Hell?
How would one die if they read it out loud?
@@paisleesheppard5629 Indeed: it's the lowest level of the Naraka (the Buddhist hell realm). It's a hell of incessant (avīchi is Sanskrit for "incessant" or "without interruption") suffering, whose dwellers are consumed in flames.
ive only seen two of chilla's arts games, but i am so obsessed. my sister thinks that they're boring but i love how they really take time to build an atmosphere
My father passed away on Sunday, thank you for the content you make, I've seen people through the years say things like "your content really helped me out through the hard times", now I know exactly what all those people mean, you're genuinely saving a lot of people by just being yourself, so once again, thank you🖤
prayin for you homie 🤍🙏

I'm so sorry for your loss. Also ignore the bot.. I hope you and your family are taking care of yourselves
Chillas art is the best horror developer I've seen in a while, it just shows that you don't need to have the best graphics or animation to have a truly fun and scary game
The editing on the sneeze is pure perfection! Give a raise to whoever did that.
" if i'd brains id be dangerous " immensely underrated line
When Sean said “this spells out Tomino’s Hell” I got the WORST goosebumps y’all
exactly lmao, instantly realized where that was going
I had no idea what that meant, i guessed it could've been a story but had no clue it was such a big thing. Good thing i didn't read the poem outloud when it showed on screen huehue

Could someone please explain this to me? >
I love how this man's plays a horror game but gets so fantasized over his parking job and is not scared whatsoever that anything could possibly happen around him makes me laugh this is why his videos are enjoyable and funny.
THIS IS BANGERS!!!
That would be me, telling the haunted place to 'hang on, don't go anywhere, I think I left my window down. Oh. I forgot the handbrake. Stay haunted! 5 minutes!' 😂
I dont ever really like horror games, and im not a fan of playing them myself, but I LOVE watching Sean play them sm
I like horror game but i'm too much of a chicken to play them so love watching others do it for me haha
"You never look up do you?" makes me remember the line: "Gamers don't look up"
This is my literal nightmare when I drive. I dont want to feel like someone else is in the car with me. Shivers! Great work chilla’s art!
man, I 'm so glad Sean has played so many horror games over the years.
"fun memory! We thought we were about to die and (almost) shat our pants! Man am I fond of my childhood!" xDD
Do they just get frequent nose bleeds normally?
@@noahshad09 not really but it was quite a hot day so that might of caused it
@@vikkydisintergrated coulda also just been a horrid coincidence. The universe likes to scare the shite out of people apparently.
I really am stunned to see that they implemented how we actually drive a car on hills, sometimes it's like you can't see the road and nervousness kicks in which causes an accident. fuckin gold 👍🏻
i think we can all agree that these creepy indie games are amazing, and watching sean play it for us is even better haha
Too true
True hahaha
Spooky and Sean just go together
I'm so happy watching Jack recently. Finding myself watching him regularly again just like I did in middle school & highschool. His content is still just as fun, entertaining, & introducing me to many cool games. Comforting too. Thank you Sean/Jack, Glad I've had this to grow up with :)
I love how Sean is doing longer game play throughs, really interesting to explore the majority of the stories and to see Sean’s reactions to them. Especially horror! 😃
Sean being terrified and thinking he'll die because he heard it get read aloud. No, Sean. You die when you READ it aloud, not because you HEARD it.
16:12 The way he ALMOST lights up that secret writing on the glass but then flicks back is so mildly infuriating.
Anyone notice the door slam shut when Sean was listening to the 6th tape? It happens when the subtitles say "WE FOUND THE LETTER"
I feel like Chilla’s art games always look more realistic the darker they are like at the beginning before he turned on the flashlight the wall he was looking at looked so real.
Also the Car looks real
Same. 16 for me.
From quarterlife crisis straight into midlife crisis. 😅👍
it's amazing to me how this game was so calm at first, but then that first jumpscare with the ghost on the back of the vehicle made me paranoid for the rest of the dang video.
Just going to say this, I loved how he ended it. I honestly wasn't expecting it and was literally about to exit out of the video when it happened. A+ video.
The editing is top tier. Jack's sneeze at the beginning made me laugh for 5 mins straight.
I feel like I would love to see him play a couple games of Phasmo again since it's updated to hell since he's played and gotten a lot creepier. Get the group and play a couple rounds?
Hell yes
Agree
My favorite videos that Jack's been doing recently, so cozy yet so unsettling, and jack just elevates it all. and most of all they're super long!
55:08
Jack: ... don't tempt fate, and talk about banshees...
*Toko throws herself from the tower*
Jack: OH GOD!
The timing was so perfect at this part 🤣🤣🤣
I really appreciate Jack's longer videos like this, especially when they're horror games.
The editing gets better with each video and the way jack's screen gets thrown around sometimes always makes me laugh.

Me after; "we're all going to die so top of the morning Jack!"
I love it how positive and supportive Jack is of Chilla’s Art! He seems like he actually enjoys their games and not just plays them just for views! 🤙🏻
The thumbnail/the image that Sean later shows in the video is actually an art piece by someone named Yuko Tatsushima! Her art is very scary yet beautiful, she also makes dolls. There's a lot of creepypasta surrounding her art for its scaryness!
Not sure if someone said this already but there are 3 endings to the game, Jack obviously got 2 of them and for anyone who wants to know what the other ending is just press show more
The ending that Jack didn't get is basically just the same as the first one, the only difference is that Haruo uses the voice recorder to warn everyone about the poem and to NOT read it out loud. The recording and the poem gets passed on as an urban legend and since people are stupid ( or maybe ballsy ) no one took it seriously and others started reading the poem out loud and of course, gets killed
you are a saint i was looking for this thank you!!
