    • @JayChokdee
      @JayChokdee 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@michaelfoxbrass I don’t think it is. It’s just that the starting notes are a bit similar, but once he hits the second diminished chord it’s very clear that this is “It could happen to you”. That song has a signature chromatically rising bass, and a diminished on second and fourth chord of the first bar. At 2:37 his left pinky play that signature rising bass note (Eb E F F#).

    • @topiliski1497
      @topiliski1497 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JayChokdee I would say it is on the slow boat to china because of the melody bits in the beginning. On a slow boat and it could happen's chord progressions are basically the same. And the diminished chords might just be that he is using them as substitutions to dominant chords. Well it really doesn't even matter what the song it is.

      Speaking just for myself, I honestly hated jazz until I was like 20, because my only idea of jazz was something like Coltrane's Ascension. People can have their first experience be that album and still love it, but it wasn't for me. I think there may also be some association between jazz and background music (or "muzak") that feels boring and uninspiring. So those are two conflicting reasons for my own history, can't claim they apply to anyone else.

      @@tucker6072 no. That's just a normal enclosure pattern played thousands of times on minor chords. It was part of the Mario kart lick, sure, but the reason THAT guy played it is because it's such a popular shape. The Mario kart solo is great, but it's not like every phrase in it is completely original material.
