0:43 "Distributor advance can cause the same problem" ? What function/setting of distributor advance would one look at for bog issues ? Good video showing squirt circuit.
Bad bog when accelerating too quickly. Everything is adjusted and right. I run a wideband 02 sensor as well to check things. If I roll into throttle I get 14.3-1 until it settles at 12.2-1 wot. The problem is that if I jam it quickly, it will hit 22-1 then come back to 12.2. I'm thinking it's that weighted flap over the secondaries and not the squirter. The squirter works great. Have you ever had to add weight to that flap before or bend it to make it draw some more? I've exhausted all options other than running a new carb with a double pump.
I got a free 2 barrel off my uncle from a 302 to go on my 351w. From what I've found it's getting gas through the line and some in the carburetor bowl but not enough for it to run. It fired after pouring a little in it ran for about 2 seconds then died. I tore it apart to be sure the float wasn't stuck which wasn't then took the jets out and they aren't stopped up so what else could it be? From my diagnosis it's starving for gas and I noticed when I took the top plate and choke assembly off that the little amount of gas in the bottom of the bowl was a nasty green color. From the tank to the low pressure pump on the rail it has 3 fuel filters excluding the one that screws onto the carb. I just need to know any other possibility before I go waste money getting a new carb when it could be just a 20$ fix. All info is greatly appreciated.
Mike-Great Videos!!! I was inspired to rebuild my Carter/AFB -9661S by your step by step approach to rebuilding. I have a question for you that I didn't see covered. My rebuild kit includes a check weight. however, the carb actually has a spring on top of the check ball. Can I use the check ball weight or do I have to use the spring? I truly appreciate your thoroughness. I'm learning so much.
hey i got a tiny old two barrel varajet carb on my old chev pick up i think my accelerator pump is kaput or not good ! anything a guy could spray into the carb woth out taking it all apart to clean it up?could it also be just my fuel pump not fillin up the carb whats the best way of checking or elimating with out getting all gassed OUT! ha guess i will try and check the inline fuel filter on the carby first?
How important is that check weight? I bought a 750 off a guy and it didn’t have one... I assume he lost it since some of the jets were changed... - he probably didn’t even know it was there.... what will be effected without it there?
Hey Mike.. great channel! I've got a 750 that I bought brand new from Jegs about a year and a half ago, and I've got a bogging issue.. is there any chance I could have a bad accelerator pump, even on a carb this new? All timing, plugs, wires, cap and rotor have been replaced. Any help appreciated!
My car sputters when initially hit the gas and finally takes off. I drove the car for the first time to work and whenever i hit the gas it cut off on me. And at 55 feels like my car got no power! Its posible that my acceleration pump its bad? Its got a edelbrock carburetor 600. That i rebuild it myself. I also notice when press the throttle one side squirts more gas than other. Any help will be apreciated. I was thinking about just get a new Holley carburetor.
You can get it out by heating around the outside and tapping the carb on the bench. It will fall out. It's possible you have the wrong check ball in it, or you can tap it lightly to give it a better seat.

The carb will pull fuel from the squirter nozzles at higher rpm also...creating a jetting nightmare!

@@MikesCarburetor Thanks for that... I ended up having a problem with the timing that I wasn't aware of
Great instruction, thnks.

Why do some accelerator pumps come with springs and others don’t?
You have to get more specific. Usually there are 2 springs involved. The return spring and the delayer spring.
Why do I need to toe my accelerator UP to work the carb?
We have a 1905. I think we need a 1405.
sorry I don't know what you mean by toe my accelerator
my check ball on a brand new carb sticks. ive had it apart 3 times to get it out....its currently stuck. is there a fix?

Mine brakes up after ever gear in a manual transmission
@@MikesCarburetor I got it fixed it was the step-up springs
