I actually saw something like this when I went to Fire Island, sat at an empty dock eating a snack and then a seagull flew down holding a crab and ripped them apart one the ground leaving only the shell cleaned out.
Where I live on Long Island the Sea Gulls usually drip clams on the concrete. Today was unusual. They were only dropping large crabs. Never saw that before. Seemed like they were easy hunting.
