These cultures are from black ancestors, and with that being said Spanish isn't the original language for these cultures but notice how although Spanish language isn't the original language and the spirits accepts the rituals in Spanish. My point is whatever language you speak pray in that language and do your rituals in that language. If you truly connect with the spirits they will show you what ritual to do. The Santos are negro not Blanca. I'm a black Hispanic who was raised by his black mom. I speak very little Spanish and the spirits answer all my prayers and protect me.

Yea it was made in the Caribbean as a Puerto Rican we are part European African and Taino but they killed almost all of the Taino there so that’s why it works in Spanish and African or creole English cause like palero is speaking to dead ancestors or just the dead

Also if your bloodline has ties so no matter what voodoo came from Africa 1st and Haitian slaves that originated from Africa took it with them my ancestors are from Barbados they were made to come over here and made to go into Christianity I didn’t stay in that it wasn’t the path I was made to stay on.

A Babalawo once stated best, "Self discovery is more important than initiation." First discover yourself, your ancestry, family heritage, do first a mesa, etc, before getting into a particular religion or religious practice. There is a lot of misinformation out there so self discovery and knowing ones heritage and practices are first before diving into something that can dis-aline itself from that. These practices run deep in the family to just ignore them because of what people say. It is just more religious censorship and bias. Thank you for the video and education.
PS: It is funny how Vodun, Hodun, Santeria, Palo, and all these African based religions seem to be okay with co-existing and even mixing other religions into their own without any bias or hate. For example: In Cuba, you will see Eshu chilling outside eating his Red Palm Oil with roasted corn, while inside chilling in the living room with an Ancestor Altar with apples around a statue of St. Barabara, in a bedroom St. Larzarus, and in the doorway to the gardens Eleggua with Santa Muerte nearby. That is the norm... seeing African-MesoAmerican religions and Catholicism co-existing, and if you pay even closer attention you'll pick up a Buddha, a Brahma figure or any Asian deity here and there, so some Asian religions in these houses too. For us, it is the norm, not a rule or exception, just a fact of life. We are okay and embrace outsiders wanting to learn more. Americans in the US seem to be the ones obsessed with wanting to keep others away and say certain things are only for these people without first consulting to the creators or original origins about what they think about outsiders wanting to learn about their ways and customs. The Japanese don't get offended when foreigners wear their kimonos... they actually are overjoyed that outsiders love their culture. They consider it a sign of respect. US people are weird at times with their obsession over ownership of religions, cultural customs and practices.

What??? When you speak of Americans being weird are you speaking about Indigenous Americans? I’m here to let you know that we Indigenous Americans don’t give two shits about who wants to be a baptis or a Christian, we are very welcoming people its in our nature to be this way. The only thing we may have an issue with is others taking what comes from us and trying to make it theirs, like always. All of this magic comes from us to be honest with you. All of the Orisha and warriors look like us, they’re not of pale skin. Its in your nature to down talk or tryN down play us Indigenous Americans..

They must've forgot that boat from West and Central Africa came to the US too and Hoodoo is rooted in Kongo Spirituality which the spirits there are very aggressive and swift, Obeah, indigenous practices, and Vodun as well. He invited me to his house for his initiation birth day and took me in his shrine room and ask me too make a wish to elegga if I wanted can you tell me about this at all I kind of got spooked lol but he was a awesomely nice guy use to give me rides even offered me a place to live when I broke up with my girl. I agree to an extent, first and foremost yes you must learn tradition to be part of a culture true, but we must learn our own backgrounds before jumping to cultures of interest, I am Puerto Rican and I had to learn the white table and the spirits that come along with my spiritual gang as well as my ancestoral lineage within that you find your "nitch", now the fact that you said you are not a child of a certain Orisha because "It" didn't tell you or you didn't dream with "it" is not how that goes, there's levels to this, we don't choose we are chosen, we go by a system like every culture there's a system! Voodoo, Palo and Spiritualism lean to the eggun / muerto side Orisha is totally different grounds a much higher ground that eggun don't step on, u cannot mix the 2 because are different and don't function the same. As we grow Orisha manifest within us not come out of the blue just because, it our guardian angel from birth be we of any culture or race, Orisha is universal!

  • @2Chillyd

can we be serious about how much cultural and spiritual technology was lost in Hoodoo due to how brutal the Protestants suppressed their slaves or are we gonna keep ignoring the elephant in the room? Black Americans on average are traumatized by Christianity. For good reason the Christ was the hammer the oppressors hit us with so many of us have issues with how deeply tied hoodoo is with christianity. ALONG with hoodoo having an extemely diffetent relationship with the Creator. Which I would tbh say takes a REAL spiritualist to conceptualized with zero outside sources besides hoodoo. Humans have an innate need to search out and understand the divine. Orisha gives a STRONG mediator that I have not seen in hoodoo. Along with SO much African culture which belongs to us as black folks…

First and foremost take a deep breathe and get at least 2 basic books on the religions, side bar I know Zionism is big in the Jamaican culture; do your basic research first. Spend alone time in prayer and ask your spirit guide(s) to guide you and protect your footsteps as you embark on this journey, as they are very very instrumental in your journey. Get a consult from a reputable person, however, don't get yourself caught up in readings after readings after readings cause then you'll be pulled into that perpetual rabbit hole despair and confusion. Take your time on this journey, there is a process and for you to truly enjoy it you must find the right people to guide and align youself with...unfortunately there's alot of charlatans in the ATR's which can leave a bad taste in your mouth or completely discouraged totally; many of us in the community have experienced it, however, there many good persons out here that truly care and want to assist others on there journey...I hope that help...be well and enjoy the journey and process...It Takes Time.

Also like you said I would be kissing the ass of people who appropriated these ATR and belief systems and made it their own. I dont take say Santa Muerte and culturally appropriate it. You hit all the points because Kongo Spirituality brought to the Americas has little to do with Europeanized Spanish Diaspora, yet they speak French in countries od where my ancestors came from colonization of their countries.
