Hello Mr Mark. I would like to have some clarification regarding the paperlike. I already have tempered-glass on my IPad. Can i use the paperlike on top of it ?? Im sorry for my english🫣 Kind regards from a portuguese subscriber. 🇵🇹
I've watched several reviews of these buying guides and one thing stands out to me for reviewers who actually used their iPads--- The iPad mini 6 is a low-key staple favorite. I understood why when I recently bought a used 11" M1 iPad Pro and a used iPad Mini 6. I used them for a full week each and ended up keeping the Mini. Why the mini? Because It's the best at being a "Mobile Tablet". Not a laptop alternative/replacement-- but a mobile tablet. It's a long discussion, but I think most people who have the mini and have used bigger iPads understand why.
I wanted a bigger laminated display so went with the iPad Air 11” M2 (128GB) with an education discount and trade in. It cost me $370 with tax. Very happy with my purchase, it’s a nice upgrade from the iPad mini 5 I had for 5 years. I plan to keep the Air for a long time.
Had my Mini for 2 years now and still loving it. Will probably hang on to it for another 2 years even if the 7 comes out- unless it blows me away with new features!
Went from a gen 6 iPad to a M2 IPad Air 13 inch. Very happy with it in terms of watching videos or binging. A little too big for commenting on videos like this (even had to resort to pecking typing just to get it right).
I am a photographer and I wanted something that was small portable and powerful enough to get the job done. I went with the iPad 10th gen and it has held up just fine with focus stacking, HDR pano blending, and just regular editing. I just don’t like the slow transfer speeds but it was a give and take for the price you cannot go wrong for the bang for buck. Everyone on the TH-cam’s says that this iPad is not powerful enough for heavy photo editing and I say they are so wrong and never truly had a landscape photography workflow. Paired with the right apps I have a complete desktop workflow on a base 256GB model.
Just buy an iPad mini now and u won’t regret it. I’ve been waiting for the new 7th gen since last year, lots of rumor saying it’ll come out in March, May and September blablabla. I was sick of it and bought one. Favorite tech for the year in 2023 and still stand by my point in 2024.
A year ago I bought a second-hand mini 6 with 256 gb and an Apple pencil 2 for 500 euro 🤷♂️ do not regret as content consumer and secondary screen for my mbp M1 Pro 14 inch for coding on-to-go
I went for an M4 pro 11”. Whenever I buy an iPad or iPhone I buy the model that will have the maximum longevity in terms of OS support. It’s a bigger outlay initially but it means I can skip a couple of upgrade cycles along the way. Plus I get an awesome screen and Face ID into the bargain (it’s amazing how much I *don’t* miss Touch ID…)
Does it recognize Face ID in the dark, with just screen light on face? I always sign in late when dark , others are often asleep and like the one touch without needing Face ID. Also for purchases. Easy touch not FACE like required on iPhone. Trying to decide.
Just upgraded my iPad Pro 11” M1 to an M4. I couldn’t be happier with it. And this was primarily for the screen quality. I have visual snow syndrome which makes the blacks seem grey and the whites too (just opposite) and this newer screen, whilst it doesn’t fix my issue it has reduced the horrible ghosting I was getting. Will I use it to its fullest potential? No, but the difference between Air and Pro is massive for me.
Well said. I just watch movies and TH-cam. I got the 11 pro m4 just because the display quality. I went to Best Buy to look at them. They had the Pro models right next to all the other models. The screen brightness and display is like night and day difference. My phone is an s24 ultra with dynamic AMOLED display, and just couldn't downgrade screens. If Apple would put the OLED screens in the less expensive models, I would have surely chose one of those instead and saved some money.
I just purchased the iPad Air 13 inch with m2 chip. The m4 was about 600 dollars more. For what I use it for I am very happy. I was going to get a lap top later but now with the logitec keyboard I don’t need it.
What do you use your laptop for?im in the same boat as you were in deciding between a laptop and an iPad ,I want it for college. So will I need to use an iPad eventually?
Since I'm using my 6th gen iPad mainly for watching YT or TV series and reading comics, I think I'm going for the 13" Air...I want a big screen (so no mini or 11") but I definitely don't need extreme power and extra weight
Planning to buy the iPad Pro M4 13 inch (Standard) with 512 storage, magic keyboard & Apple pencil pro). As I am upgrading from the classic iPad Pro 10.5 inch (no iOS 18 on them). The reason I chose the 13 inch is because I use the iPad for everything (work away from work, entertainment, studies and reading) and since I do not have a laptop, it is the perfect option for me and hopefully it will last for the next five years.
Im a tournament angler, and I will be traveling to some bodies of water that ive never navigated before. I have a 10" mapping graph on the boat, but also wanted this to run Navionics and weather while we fish. Im really leaning towards the Ipad Air 13" M2
Purchased my first ever iPad last week - iPad Air 11" M2 2024. I also got a 3rd party magic keyboard for £75, rather than £300 Apple want, and it works great. Lets hope the m2 lasts many years and is fast.
I use the large iPad Pro (a '21 M1 12.9") for drawing. I really, REALLY prefer the large screen for that purpose. It's 3+ years old, and it's still as fresh as day one. Yes, it is a LARGE iPad. If I were only looking for productivity and content consumption, then I would go for the 11" Pro or Air models, because you're right, they're phenomenal devices!
Im a casual user. I love my youtube and movies. I wanted a couch surfer. Im a samsung phone user, but they dropped the 11 inch from their new lineup. I went pro m4 11 inch for one reason only. The display. Like I said, i watch mainly movies. I dont need extra power or the m4, but unfortunately you get a dull screen if you don't go pro. I say dull because i saw them side by side at Best Buy. The pro display was definitely noticeable over the air, mini and regular. After being spoiled with the display on my s24 ultra, i couldnt go to the dull Apple screens on the less expensive models.
I agree with the comment that basic iPads are decent tools that last a long time. I am still using my 7th gen. iPad everyday with no issues. It does not support Apple Intelligence., but then neither does the 10th gen or any previous iPad mini. I am looking at purchasing a new iPad that supports Apple Intelligence. To me, the sweet spot is a refurbished iPad Air 5th gen. with the M1 chip and 256 GB RAM for under $500 US.The M1 chip is almost twice as powerful as theA14 Bionic in the 10th gen iPad. The new mini is tempting. But its A17pro is only 50% as powerful and the price, with 256 GB is $100 more.
I’d miss my iPad mini a lot if it wasn’t updated. I use it to watch you tube and general use most of the time. Plenty of people I know also use the mini.
Mini because I have a 10” tablet, 15” Chromebook, tv and always streaming on my phone. Tablet gets heavy, I hate the clamshell, and tv is not as easy to search for content.
Great review Mark... I have the M4 iPad Pro 11" with the magic keyboard, I've replaced when traveling with any other MacBook, and the 6th gen mini (and honestly, I will still buy a 7th gen.... no matter what). Fun to watch.
I just watched your video on my brand new M4 13” iPad Pro with nanoglass. I’m upgrading from a gen 3 iPad Pro 12.9” which to be honest was still a great iPad. I didn’t absolutely need to upgrade, but Amazon had some amazing discounts and I’ve been meaning to “donate” the old iPad to the family. I’m fortunate to have a budget that can support getting the upgrade. I don’t think you’re wrong in your recommendations. While I’m not iPad-only, I do use the iPad heavily for music and art so I’m not just watching great YT videos like yours 😁. That said, the nanoglass is absolutely stunning visually and feel wise. I will not be putting a screen protector on it (and didn’t have one on my old iPad), but I do have a magic keyboard (which I also have on the old one). Beware though that the M4 13” Pro is *not* compatible with either the previous generation magic keyboard or older generation apple pencils, so you might need to upgrade those accessories too. I got this upgrade exactly because as you say, it should last me for a *very* long time. I got my previous iPad in 2018, and it’s still doing great after 6 years with just minimal battery health degradataion, so I fully expect this one to last at least that long if not longer.
I just got myself the 13” iPad Air M2. I got it to read my sheet music for orchestra - I’m slowly learning Forscore but I’m coming to grips with it as I put in all my music 😊
I just bought a m1 iPad Air for 395 after tax. I might return it and get a m2 iPad Air. I see them on sale for about 100 more. M2 chip and 128g make the extra money worth it.
I went with the 11 inch iPad Pro M1 256 gb. Gen 2 Apple Pencil also with the Logitech touch case so handy for when you want to type out emails or long iMessages.
I own M4 iPad Pro 11", 2018 iPad Pro 11", 5th gen iPad, and Lenovo Tab P11 Pro Gen 2. Sold an iPad Air 5th Gen with M1 chip. Love my iPad Pros, even the 2018, which I gave to my dad after I upgraded to the M4 IPP. The old 5th gen iPad is almost never used because it's too slow. Surprisingly, the Lenovo Tab is a great tablet with an OLED screen. Obviously not as fast or smooth as my IPP but it's in my opinion, the best affordable Android tablet. Much better value over a 10th gen iPad unless you must have a tablet in the Apple eco-system. I'd think about buying an iPad Mini 7 if/when it releases, but only if it has a M chip inside and has an OLED screen. Highly doubt Apple will make that happen though.
It's a mistake buying the ipad air 11"inch m2. The CVAT - a data engine learning that supports various annotation tasks and formats. It doesn't support ipads 😢. It is of limited use, unfortunately.
Praying hard the iPad Mini gets updated in October. I love the mini 6 I’ve had it since day one it was released. I recently bought a Gamesir G8 plus and this thing is a retro gaming masterpiece. Just ready for more power!
I still have my Ipad Pro 10.5 inch from 2017 (1st generation) No plans to change it. Had an Air 2 from the good old days that I gave to my mum which lasted till 2021 and then I got her a regular ipad since she only uses that for internet and YT browsing. Wonder how long my pro will last.
I have the 2018 iPad Pro from 2018, the first one with the new design. It’s the 11in. It works great and I just downloaded iPad OS 18 on it, which is impressive having the A-12x chip. I love the 11in. Size and don’t know if I could return to the mini. I bought it refurbished for $400. If you really want a Pro iPad and don’t want to spend a grand on one, I definitely recommend buying refurbished. This will continue to be my iPad until its demise. 😎👍
You suggest that Apple will support the iPad with the aging A14 processor for a long time. Where does Apple promise to support the iPad past the current iPadOS 18 that is delivered with it? I can't find anything on the Apple iPad website about any life extension.
13:26 Before I saw this video I had seen an older video of yours talking about the 11” iPad Pro M4. The hefty price tag had me thinking I don’t want to get it. But I pulled the trigger and bought one about a week ago. I also got the pencil pro and Magic Keyboard.
Great review…but, now has me thinking. Have been heavy iPad user since iPad 2. Currently on pro 1 (2018) 11”. On it a couple hours a day for email, content consumption, shopping, couch duty mainly, just personal use. Tried a 12.9 about 8 or so years ago and screen was too big to see without moving eyes side to side excessively from normal viewing distance. But here’s the difference now - older guy and eyes not what they used to be. Enlarge text size a bit on devices or use reader glasses. Sigh. Thinking the 13” air might be needed now. Don’t really want the size, but may be what I need. Anyone else in the Gen X age range having these considerations?
I will be getting the m4 11 inch and make it my new on the go device. I currently have a 10.5 inch iPad Pro as my daily. This will be paired with a Mac at home.
Good choice as the 10.5 doesn’t work with new iPad OS. The 10.5 will still get security updates for a couple of years I guess and has a promotion screen, speakers and is great to hold. There is a queue of family members after it….. My son sourced me an exit model M1 iPad Pro last year. It’s an 11 inch 16Gb/ 2TB model but was only about £700. Added a pencil 2 and Magic Keyboard and it’s great. I even got a pristine refurbished Logitech Combo like Mark. That was £90. The rubber surround is great for using with my choir and Apple Sing in case it gets dropped. I’d love an 11 in mk4 but only for the screen upgrade and the horizontal facetime camera. But that would need yet another Magic Keyboard and a new pencil pro. For me, even with my educational discounts, I cannot justify £1350 on another iPad kit. I’ll probably sell my MBP 16 i9 from 2019 to a coder and settle on an M3 16/512 MacBook Air13. As I’ve got a studio display I don’t use the MBP 16 much - too heavy at 2kg to cart around.
I have a hankering after a new iPad to replace my 7 year old 10.5" Pro, which is failing in the battery department. I also have a bit of MacBook Air envy - so, am considering a second hand M1 MBA and a base model iPad. Sub £1k total and the best of both worlds?
I think most reviewers forget to mention the reason for a bigger iPad for digital artists. Screen size becomes really important if you spend a lot of time drawing and this is the main reason to get a pro or air 13 inch iPad in my opinion.
My hope would be a new iPad mini that is fairly basic as an option. Just normal stuff id. surfing, videos, email, etc. Great size for travel and not doing major things. Would love to get rid of my MacBook air.
I decided to go iPad only i have now completed my little apple eco system I had to go 13 inch iPad Pro m4 with 5g i prefer a system closer to iOS so went with the iPad in your m4 unboxing video you said that the pencil and apple keyboard where transformative and you where not wrong i also got the pencil pro and the apple Magic Keyboard for it I couldn’t be happy with my choice thought i do have to say it is quite big and heavy but i thing it was worth it considering it would be easy to carry then a MacBook plus i can have more functionality though the apps :)
Thanks for the video! I’m torn between the iPad Pro 2024 11’ and 13’. My main usage will be for Gaming, Coloring with the Pencil Pro, as well as for reading and research (Apple News, Apple Magazines from News, Kindle-like books, Notes and Safari stuff. Given these use-cases, what size do you recommend? Thanks again!
Here’s what’s gonna happen…I have a mini 4 and been doing my research. Don’t want a 64 gig mini 6 so will save my pennies for a 256 gig which in Space Grey. Those are rarely available in the Apple Refurbished site. I will then bite the bullet and buy a new 256gb Space Grey. It will arrive and and I will be overjoyed! …one day before Apple release the mini 7 with a base storage of 128 gig at £499.00. MUTHAF~
Im using the 2018 11 inch ipad pro since 2019 and its still great for video editing and teaching and ipados 19 should be the last update. Will hold on to it for next 2 years when the ipad air m4 comes out ill buy that instead, shit have to buy new apple pencil as well.
Just picked up the 13" iPad Air (m2) 256gb for just under $475 usd (it was an open box item marked as Excellent). It still had all the screen wrap on it. Just starting to get into video editing Drone & GoPro footage. What video editing software do you recommend I use?
I have a windows 15" laptop and I'm stuck between getting a 13" or a 11" iPad air. i know I'm tempted to get the 13 but at the same time i know it might be too much but i don't want to regret it in the future. what do you guys think i should go towards?
I'm writing this on 19th sept 2024, I'm excited for the ipad mini 7. I think it's gonna be announced next month. The question I'm asking is, which chip will they put in there? The A chip or M chip? Surely it's going to be AI ready too?
I have ipad air 4 64gb for 3 yrs now and I’m planning to buy a new one. I’m torn between ipad mini 7 or ipad air m2. I’m not a heavy user, nor a gamer and I only edit my videos in capcut. Any recos?
Awesome video. I think this is your best iPad buying guide yet. I love that you've finally seen the light regarding the 11" iPad Pro. The 13" is sooo heavy and that you've talked about older refurb devices. The M1/2 iPad Pros are very good value.
Hello from Belarus! I like your soft velvet voice. BTW your appearance and age are similar to mine. You make reviews very easy and interesting. Keep up good work!
Does the Logitech keyboard work just on desktop or can it be used while seated in the lap? This is my main use, while relaxing chair, couch, bed. Is the screen able to dim to low light where the Oled strength dosent bother sensitive eyes. I’ve heard it causes eye strain for some and I actually turn mine way down even at night my old 2nd gen is too bright while others are watching tv or sleeping. I like the idea of better m4 chip equivalent to longer use through update capabilities.. but need to get one with great storeage if going to hold capacity for years to come.. which bumps the price UP.. which is why I’m looking for alternative to magic key board..
Hello Mr Mark. I would like to have some clarification regarding the paperlike. I already have tempered-glass on my IPad. Can i use the paperlike on top of it ?? Im sorry for my english🫣 Kind regards from a portuguese subscriber. 🇵🇹
Who cares what you buy… M2 Air for me, but I just as easily use my daughter’s older iPad for my primary usecase which is handwritten note taking and content consumption.
Guys i have one for u! guys⚠️ This ipad have small storage because we had to pay 500$ for games to download it this is happened to you!!! Only Android Is free games No need pay money 😁💗 Tablets and phone are best I use Xiaomi Redmi pad 6 pro "Tablet"
I really want a Pro Motion, OLED display, and yet the iPad mini is still by far my favorite. If we ever get a mini with that kind of display, it’ll be absolute perfection. And even if we don’t, the right answer is still mini.
Mark, thanks. I find that I can use an iPad very fluidly with a hardened glass screen protector with a PaperLike protector on top for maximum protection.
Which iPad are you going to buy… and why?
I had the 9th generation. And I bought the 10.I bought it beacause I had issues with the storage. And the Apple Pencil usb c.I love them!
None of them. I am very happy with my 5th gen iPad Air.
bought the m2 ipad air 11 inch. Upgraded my ipad mini 6.
I currently have the fifth generation iPad mini, I’m thinking of buying the 11 inch iPad Pro

I'd be agreeing with you any other year, but this year with Apple Intelligence (kinda) here, I wouldn’t buy any non M-processor iPad new.
It was the same with mini 5, it´s was the last one so I bought one. Next year 6 came with all the right things :( Now I hope for 7 gen.
Word my brother! 👍

Yup that was me got a 12.9 pro and went wooo it’s amazing! Literally collected dust for months it was so heavy and annoying to use lol
I am still on the original iPad Air 1 from 2013. That's why I am watching this video:)

I don’t get why Apple would not make a mini when so many people love it and want it. Apple listen to your customers!
Seems they do.
I’ve seen the iPad Mini on Amazon for $379. If a Mini is released in October, the 6 will more than likely drop in price even more. 😎👍
Waiting for the new iPad Mini; currently using the 5th Gen, which I bought 4 years ago.
Thanks for the content.
Me too. Bought it around the same time. Also waiting for Gen 7. I have an 11 inch M1 iPad Air which gets used far less frequently.

Sticking with my 4th gen Pro. Waiting for them to do something substantial
I ordered the iPod air 11 inch today. It's my first, I hope I love it.
How is it going so far?would you recommend?
@abdulrahmanassous2873 I like it a lot. My only complaint is the screen is prone to glare
@@cookingwithhistory6694 ah okay,thanks!
I bought my iPad 10 about six month ago. Have no pro needs. I just wanted it for sidecar at home and netflix when I travel.
Have the same since december i could of easily bought the pro model but for my use it's youtube, safari and nothing else
Had the iPad 6 mini since launch love it! Always the go to for holidays and travel over my MacBook Pro, hoping there’ll be a 7!
I am watching this video on my iPad Mini 6 I bought last week on Amazon on sale. It was $170 off for a new one.
Waiting on the mini... hoping it does come out and is not a dead iPad.
I have currently three iPads overall had five at one point with all of those different sizes. It basically rendered my laptop unused lol
I have got the iPad Pro 11" its so good thanks Mark
Thanks for the video! I’m torn between the iPad Pro 2024 11’ and 13’. My main usage will be for Gaming, Coloring with the Pencil Pro, as well as for reading and research (Apple News, Apple Magazines from News, Kindle-like books, Notes and Safari stuff. Given these use-cases, what size do you recommend? Thanks again!
Did you make a video a day before the apple event so it's 5 days out of date when you release it?
Which Apple event?!
MUTHAF~
13 inch M4 1 Tb screen size.
Im using the 2018 11 inch ipad pro since 2019 and its still great for video editing and teaching and ipados 19 should be the last update. Will hold on to it for next 2 years when the ipad air m4 comes out ill buy that instead, shit have to buy new apple pencil as well.
Does ipad gen 10 support the feature smart script for better handwriting for note taking
What’s a good gaming iPad right now im on the 6th Gen and I want to get a new iPad
I have ipad air 4 64gb for 3 yrs now and I’m planning to buy a new one. I’m torn between ipad mini 7 or ipad air m2. I’m not a heavy user, nor a gamer and I only edit my videos in capcut.
Any recos?
I got a ipad air M2 128gb
Thanks.
Awesome video. I think this is your best iPad buying guide yet. I love that you've finally seen the light regarding the 11" iPad Pro. The 13" is sooo heavy and that you've talked about older refurb devices. The M1/2 iPad Pros are very good value.
Nice - thanks, Louise!
Hello from Belarus! I like your soft velvet voice. BTW your appearance and age are similar to mine. You make reviews very easy and interesting. Keep up good work!
Do you know that they might be an iPad event in a month or two?
The mini 7 is out. November
Shut the front door.
And now the mini 7 is coming Oct 23 on Pre Order-!
Hello Mr Mark.
I would like to have some clarification regarding the paperlike.
I already have tempered-glass on my IPad. Can i use the paperlike on top of it ??
Im sorry for my english🫣
Kind regards from a portuguese subscriber. 🇵🇹
Hi! I'm afraid I'm not best placed to answer that - I'd recommend speaking to Paperlike for the best answer :)
best review yet!
Ah, thanks!
I’m planning to get an M2 iPad Air or M4 iPad Pro
My gut feeling tells me I should keep my Air 3 for another year and see what happens.😂
Does the M2 have the camera relocated like the M4? I use Zoom for work and really want the camera moved.
Is there an iPad 16 in pro
Ipad air 6 ?
What are the best ipad brands for a fashion designer focused on illustration and design, and which specific models would you recommend 2024?
iPad mini a17 pro is coming out soon 😅
13” Air. Looking for portability for new whispering ASMR channel recordings.
Who cares what you buy… M2 Air for me, but I just as easily use my daughter’s older iPad for my primary usecase which is handwritten note taking and content consumption.
M4 11" 🤩😍
Guys i have one for u! guys⚠️
This ipad have small storage because we had to pay 500$ for games to download it this is happened to you!!!
Only Android Is free games No need pay money 😁💗 Tablets and phone are best
I use Xiaomi Redmi pad 6 pro "Tablet"
I really want a Pro Motion, OLED display, and yet the iPad mini is still by far my favorite. If we ever get a mini with that kind of display, it’ll be absolute perfection. And even if we don’t, the right answer is still mini.
the mini
The vanilla iPad is the best value
Apple going to need to add wireless charging to all their Apple product it help solve wire problem issue when the charging port is mess up
That Samsung ring 👌
It's an Ultrahuman!
Nice video
October 2024: And yes, there will be a mini7
How come no one talks much about the basic ipad? Some of us don’t have $1,500-$2,000 cdn to spend on tech.
It's recommended several times in this video.
ipad mini
Mark, thanks. I find that I can use an iPad very fluidly with a hardened glass screen protector with a PaperLike protector on top for maximum protection.
I’m going for the M2 12.9 pro. Honestly, I just got an M2 Pro Mac mini and I don’t want my iPad to have a newer chip than my computer XD
