  • In this my first ever TH-cam channel video, here’s a run through of all the Stage 1 performance upgrades I’ve added to my 2014 Mk3 Focus 1.0 ecoboost 125 and the benefits they have over the standard parts. Hope the video helps anyone who’s looking to improve their Focus or Fiesta 1.0 ecoboost. And now also with the recent addition of a custom made performance cat back exhaust the car should be around approximately 155bhp.

      It’s totally upto you if you remap it to stage 1 or keep it as is. From my experience after my remap and performance parts added well over a year ago I’ve had no issues. If a reputable company remaps your car and you keep your car well serviced and maintained you should be fine. But like I say it’s totally upto you 👍🏻

      Hi mate, the uprated induction hoses are pretty easy to install. Check out my channel I’ve got an in-depth video how to install them. I’ve had no issues with sensors etc, all has been fine. You get more induction noise which sounds good with these pipes fitted as they allow in more unrestricted air 👌🏻

    • @EcoboostOwen
      @EcoboostOwen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you wanted to you can just go straight for the stage 1 remap to gain an extra 25bhp. I added these parts to try and relieve any stress on the engine after the remap and to get the added induction and turbo noise. But yeah you can just go straight for a stage 1 remap.

    Nice video mate 👍 I've just got rid of the Mrs old motor for one of these. Looking to get a bit more out of the 1ltre st line. Do you happen to have a link to the parts you have ordered? I know in previous comments you've done so but I can't seem to find the ones you brought for your st line, a link or something will go a long way. Also, have you remapped the 1 litre?

      Cheers mate, i think I listed where I got the parts in the video description. I got the uprated silicone primary and secondary induction hoses and the uprated turbo hard pipe from herewww.carenhancementsuk.co.uk/collections/ford-focus-mk3.
      The Ramair crossover pipe is from eBay, seller Ramair-filters at £104. And the Pipercross air filter you can get on eBay aswell mate. Yeah the car is remapped stage 1 and with the mods is running approximately 155bhp. Hope the info helps, subscribe as I’ve got more content coming soon 👍🏻

      @@EcoboostOwen really appreciate the reply mate! I'm going to get on it and start with the intake system 👌How do you find with that extra power on the 1litre engine? Do you feel it puts an unnecessary amount of stress on its engine or do you feel it more than capable of the upgrades? Only asking as in thinking of keeping it for a few years, u don't want to go through all this to really buffer the engine. Thanks again dude. And yeh for sure ill subscribe 👍

    • @EcoboostOwen
      @EcoboostOwen  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@getafterit4647 the car handles the power really well. I think you can take these engines to around 170bhp but you need to keep engine temps in check via a stage 2 Airtec intercooler. The engine should be fine as long as you keep it well serviced, don’t constantly hammer it everywhere and don’t constantly keep revving and red lining it. I’m in the process of finishing a vid about the Stage 1 0-60mph time and upto 100mph to show the improvement over standard.

      What's the upper torque rate of the stock clutch? Just I'd had a little look into mapping etc... but came across a few remarks about it being all well and good recapping etc. But seems like things like clothes would give up after a year or so.

    • @EcoboostOwen
      @EcoboostOwen  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure of the upper torque rating of the stock clutch but my car standard had 200Nm of torque but after the stage 1 remap the torque is at 240Nm which is 177ft Ib. I’ve had no issues at all since the stage 1 remap, which I had done awhile ago.

    Hey guys i have a question i drive a 2018 ford focus 1.0 ecoboost 125hp.
    My question is is it worth getting a cold air intake?
    Atm i did an exhaust change from the cat straight to the end.
    Will be doing stage 1 remap soon.

    • @EcoboostOwen
      @EcoboostOwen  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Upgrading the intake will allow for increased air flow over the OE restrictive intake pipes, helping your car breathe better and more efficiently. You should see a slight positive effect on horsepower, torque, and acceleration as well as improved fuel economy and you’ll get a lot more induction noise. I’ve upgraded all induction hoses along with a drop in Pipercross filter. It’s worth doing if your pushing more power out of your car.

    Where do you connect the dump valve small hose ?

    • @EcoboostOwen
      @EcoboostOwen  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You just unclip the hose off the standard bov and when you’ve installed the Turbosmart bov you just clip the hose onto the silver nut on the top of the bov. It’s pretty much a straight swap over.

    • @EcoboostOwen
      @EcoboostOwen  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      After selling my St170 I viewed several different models of the mk3 focus including the 1.6. Most weren’t as in good condition and had a lot higher mileage than the 125 I got for not much difference in price. Not sure of the cost of the mods I’ve done so far but I’m not too fussed as It’s a hobby for me modifying cars. My video is just to show others the mods they can do to their ecoboost focus/fiesta whatever variant they have. 👍🏻

      @dean8067 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      To be honest the Tune he got must have done next to nothing. Most local tuning companies to me claim gains of around 50 to 60+ horsepower over the base 100 horsepower 1.0 EcoBoost with a tune alone. Doing extras like down pipe, exhaust, and these intake hose modifications should have you easily seeing 170 to 180 horsepower

    • @EcoboostOwen
      @EcoboostOwen  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dean8067 most tuning companies I looked at for a stage 1 tune like revo, Superchips, Celtic tuning, and Hyperchips who I went with all quotes a bhp improvement of between 145bhp-158bhp. Hyperchips said my stage 1 tune would be between 145bhp and 150bhp but there’s no way of knowing unless you have your car on the dyno. Any tune is a guesstimate unless proof is given. The best tune you could get is a custom tune on a rolling road catered just for your car to get the best out of it.

    • @dean8067
      @dean8067 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EcoboostOwen Yeah thats true, and the route I'm going with my 2020 Fiesta. But im going to do a bunch of other modifications first before getting it tuned. Catless down pipe, full exhaust, intercooler, Oil catch can, intake, along with its accompanying hoses etc. Then get it tuned at a local place called Veloce Performance, they do custom dyno remap that take hours to do. They already did a MK7 Fiesta 1.0 and power went up to around 155 hp and 260 Nm of torque with a tune only, up from the 100Hp and 170Nm it had stock. I'm hoping to achieve along the lines of 160 to 170 horsepower after everything has been done.
