We have had our house up for sale for about 6 weeks now. We are not having very many people going through it. We went ahead and bought our happy ever after home because we didn’t want it to get away from us. Now we are house poor! The realtor says it is like this everywhere. Let’s pray for each other!
Indeed we will.
A lot of the younger generations and families that would be buying houses now can't afford the prices with college loan debt etc, and then we have as Darlene pointed out low housing stock. This crisis has been building since the 2008 economic crash and it isn't going to get better without some intervention.
Some may not have the money, or physical ability, to update homes before a sell. In our area many elderly have passed. Their homes were in need of many things after their passing. Most people go in and change everything anyway. Y'all are very blessed to have the advantage of choosing and waiting on a dream home. Many blessings and may you find your home soon.
Yes, Lou and I have often said that about some of the homes. It’s actually very sad. We are still trying to sell my moms house as well.
Darlene, maybe the perfect house for you is the one you are living in, just food for thought 🤔
You could be right.
The LORD has already chosen one that’s Perfect for you and Lou ❤❤❤❤🤗🤗🤗
Yes. I do believe that Lucia.
We literally walked thru 40 homes before we finally found one. Of those 40, I’d say 30 were in unacceptable condition - dirty, disrepair, overgrown, in need of major repairs or investment. It was so discouraging and we, like you, often questioned whether the owners were actually serious about selling! We closed just a month ago after 9 months of searching, praying and waiting. There is much to do to make this house a home, but there have been signs that this was the landing spot the Lord chose for us. I’ll be praying you and Lou are blessed with your next home soon!
I love your channel. You take your time with the videos. Focus on your house hunting. God bless you both and may he lead you where you need to be.
Thanks Kiko
In HIS TIME,,, Jesus will reveal it to You❤👌🏻☦️🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Amen!! ❤
I know what you mean, I prayed and had peace about downsizing, Covid hit, husband’s health isn’t good, breast cancer( God has been good to me just a partial mastectomy, reconstruction and radiation.) This month is one year cancer free. Now every house that we look at there is a bidding war. Some are going for 20 to 30 thousand over asking price. We are getting a lot of New Yorkers, and people just wanting to live in a less crime environment. So when God sees fit the right house for us will come along in our price range. Never give up if you find peace about your decision.
Oh sweet Abeullah. I’m so sorry to hear of your health issues. Looks like we are in the same downsizing situation. I pray you find your perfect home and soon.
@@Souperat60 I know that my Lord and Savior is always with me. We will keep praying for each other. Also pray for Israel
I’m sorry you are having such a struggle trying to find a place. Just keep letting the Lord guide you. He knows what is best. The hardest thing about true faith is that sometimes we just have to wait. In order to build a home you will need to start looking a home plans online. Once you decide on that you will need to find a good general contractor in the area where you land is that you have purchased and go from there. I would say by the time you find land and a contractor to build you are looking at two years to finish the home and move in. I’m basing that on what you have told us you want. Praying for you and Lou. Thanks Darlene 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you. I appreciate this info. Someone else said 2 yrs as well. Yikes!!
YES! YOU MUST WAIT ON JESUS! ~ HE! WILL ANSWER YOU, AS YOU KNOW HE! WILL!! ~ GOD! BLESS YOU BOTH ♥
The interest rates, to buy a home, are WAY TOO HIGH!! That’s exactly why NO ONE is looking to buy. So sad but true! I was a realtor for years. First time home buyer’s can’t afford the interest rates nor are they able to come up with the 20% down payment to start a loan process. IDK, But the down payment percentage rate maybe even higher now! There also used to be many loan programs available to buyers but a lot of them have gone to the wayside 🤬🤬. ALL OF THIS STARTED with BIDEN!! Some may not believe this OR agree, but this IS a professional market analyst TRUTH!! SAD, BUT TRUE. I wish you well young lady and ALWAYS take it to Our Lord and Savior, JESUS CHRIST 💕🙏🙏
Yes. I hear you friend. I feel awful for these young kids wanting a new house. It’s sad. I’m grateful our sons both have beautiful homes. And yes, I hear you about our President!!😡
We ended up doing a new build because we couldn’t find anything to fit our needs. We were worried about the neighborhood my daughter and her family lived in so we building big enough for them. We live in the down stairs and they have a livingroom and 4 bedrooms upstairs. They just don’t have a kitchen. That’s what we were worried about also.. getting somebody else’s problems. My daughter is a nurse and her husband works in toxic waste removal so he is out of town quite a bit. But we’re both in our 60’s so they’ll be here for us later on when we can’t take care of them. Sending prayers. I know how stressful it is.
Hi Darlene and Lou, I remember when Tim and I were looking at houses with the view of leaving Sydney (2005) while we were both still young enough. I am sure we must have looked at nearly every house in the town that we eventually moved to, (it took us 12 months to find our home!) before settling on a nice modest home. It is not perfect, but it met our needs. At least it is easy to keep clean thanks to me becoming a minimalist after Tim died.
I have a YT friend in the US that has bought a small interim house in the state and area near where they then plan to build their home. Living near the new build you are able to keep an eye on the progress and be able to speak to the builders if decisions need to be made.
Oh yes, and another YT channel that I subscribe to in the US... they purchased a new home recently and took us around on a house tour before they moved in. The house was simply stunning, and she also showed us some footage of her gorgeous never ending 3 acre garden. I happened to notice that she said the house was built on a flood plain, and she even took us down to the area in her garden where it is constantly swampy!!! After living in their new home for only one week they had a lot of rain overnight which resulted in their entire back yard flooding... the flood water was 4 to 5 foot deep!!! They had to build a wall out of a large tarp and double layer of bricks to stop the water coming into their house!!!
I know you have basically packed up everything with the exception of the items you are currently using, and I can see that you are very keen to pop your home on the market. Purchasing a new home is not cheap, and therefore shouldn't be rushed. Darlene and Lou, you both will know when you find the perfect home. In the meantime, take a deep breath and wait for God's perfect timing.
God's blessings, prayers, love and hugs. Gloria 🤗🙏🏡🌻❤
Oh how awful for that family. I would die😫
Thanks Gloria.
Looking for a home...things to look for or know about...if your going to build one think about septic either in community line or have to dig your own. Also same for water...on a community line or have to dig a well and have your own water. Luckily I've know this I was young. I come from a home in the country that we had our own septic and also our own well.
Sweet Darlene, I know it can be frustrating, y’all are ready to get the show on the road, and all you can hear from the Lord is, “not yet”. One thing for sure, God definitely has a plan for your life, and your very wise to wait until you feel it’s the Lord’s will. One thing I do know from my 73 years is, He is patient. He is never in a rush. And if He is seemingly silent, “wait on the Lord.” And when it is His time, you will feel his peace. Some of the major stuff to be ready to move is already done, so that’s great news. As you were talking, I was thinking, it might be easier to find the property you love, and then talk to an architect, or someone you can sit down with and tell them exactly what you desire in a house. They can draw up the plans and then ask or look around for a builder. Maybe ask around at Church or Lou’s office for suggestions. You can look at some of their work. My husband is a contractor, so people usually find out about him from other architects or other people who have used him. He has done residential but he mainly does commercial now. Be sure if you go that route, it is a reputable contractor with references and everything is in a contract. Also, it’s not always the lowest price. But pray about that too, because if that is the road the Lord is leading, he will bring the right people to you. You might sketch out your dream house, the rooms you want and if you could build, what you would really want. Then, it really would be made just for you both. I always say, a house is wood and brick, sheetrock and paint. It the people who live there that makes it “Home”. Praying for clarity and peace. ❤️✝️🙏
Hi friends. Lets talk about this moving thing.
The interest rates are almost 8%. Not everyone has all cash so the market has slowed. I've noticed houses in New Hampshire are not flying off the market with all cash deals like 6 months ago. Haven't seen a house we really like yet so we're hoping to start looking in Pennsylvania next month. I'm trying to be practical worrying about the staircase in the future as we get older, and this will be our last home. We don't like ranches so the house would have to have a master on the first floor. Do we want many acres or should we just stay with an acre or two? Frustrating still not knowing what we really want so I hear you Darlene. Moving is so hard and exhausting. So is finding the right home and timing the sale and purchase 🤔 when the right house comes along you and your husband will know it! Praing for you 🙏❤️🙏🌹
Thank you Karen. Sounds like you could use some prayer as well. Best of luck to you. Keep me posted.
I pray for you both that you will clearly hear the Lord's direction in this whole process. May you know beyond a without a shadow of a doubt his plan for you. Blessings
I just love your laugh!!! Prayers that you and Lou will understand Gods will!
Hi Darleen, Interest rates are very high right now and there is talk of a housing Bible crash. With high interest rates. It makes selling very hard. Praying for you and Lou for a quick sale and new purchase.❤️God is directing your steps. Just because you don’t hear from God doesn’t mean he is not working. Love and prayers to you both. ❤️
Oh Barb you are so right. Thanks for the reminder. He’s working it thru.
Hi Darlene. I don't comment much but I needed to on this video to give you some encouragement and to let you know you are not alone. My husband and I are a few steps behind you and Lou in this process, hoping to put our home on the market in the Spring. We, too, will be moving out of state and have the same questions, thoughts, etc as you were expressing. We are in the process of major repair work as we had a tree fall on our home in August, lots of structural damage, etc. At the time, we thought that was one of the worst things that could happen. (Knowing full well that there are many more things much worse than damaged property. We had just left the room that took the major hit and were not in our basement more than 1 minute before the crash.) Now, we are using this as opportunity to clean out, throw out, and give away. The house will be freshly painted, etc. What seemed like a major setback is actually going to help us in the long run. We did not see that in August. Keep praying and trusting Jesus. He sees ahead and knows the full picture. When the time is right, you will know. God Bless you and Lou. 🙏
Oh precious Karen. Such a lovely comment. I am so sorry to hear of your house tragedy. But yes, something good is coming from it. I wish you all the best. Do you have family you’ll be moving near?
@@Souperat60 Hi, again! No, it's just us and our doggy, Biscuit. We hope to live out a long time dream of moving to the arctic and seeing the Northern Lights ... God's beauty and creation. He will open doors for us in His timing as He will for you and Lou. Don't get discouraged .... God knows your hearts desires. Take care, Darlene 🙏🙏
That’s totally amazing. I want to know when your dream comes true. ☺️
Praying that God blesses you with a new house!! God is Faithful! Have a blessed day!
May the Lord bless you with the home of your dreams! Let go and let God, and when you least expect it, your home will be shown to you by our loving God!
Are you stuck on one particular area? We’re in NC and in our community they are building houses like crazy. Most of these homes are nice with great kitchens and probably all what you’re looking for. I don’t know how much property your looking for, or your price range.
Kind of. Family.
I still wonder if building a home to fit your needs and wants as you age. My husband and I are in our mid 70s. Believe it or not, we have property and in the middle of the building process. One thing we knew is as you age, your needs change. Most important is having our home on one level. Stair climbing is for the younger family. My husband is a retired architect. I am so thankful for this as I am having my dream kitchen to fit my needs and desires, i.e big pantry, many cabinets and drawers to use and enjoy cooking with. Perhaps finding a good architect would help so you and Lou can put your desires on paper and go from there. As far as area, leave it in God's hands as the place to build will come first. I just love your laugh Darlene. It always lifts my spirits. Patience is truly a virtue. I will pray for you two that God will open doors and you will be blessed. I would also consider churches in an area, grocery stores, etc. Yes, it can boggle one's mind. Casting ALL your cares upon Him for He careth for you. Sleep tight tonight and know you are in His hands. Keep us posted, you are loved❤
Is south western VA an absolute? Have you thought about North Carolina? This is where we have retired to. Love to have you as a neighbor! 😀
I am sure you could find a place with some land and hopefully nice house and not a fixer upper. I know we did not want to go thru that again. We just wanted to enjoy. The way our house is situated we can sit in the screened in porch and watch the sun rise and sit on our front porch and view the sun set. You are in my prayers
So very good to hear your cheerful voice again. Sounds like you are ready for that move. Too bad people don't take pride in showing their home to make it appealing. I still think your needs and wants will be satisfied if you can build. I do pray the perfect home will fall into place in God's timing.
Bless your hearts! Praying the Lord will lead you to the right house and/or the right decisions to be where He wants you. 💙
Please look at the West Jefferson area of NC……beautiful small town, many retirees settling in the area. Very close yo Va border
I will thank you.
Hi Darlene. Are you looking for a home near the Blue Ridge Mountains? If you know the town you wish to move, then I would contact a realtor in that town. Maybe you've done this. :) If you have several towns on your list, contact a realtor in each. Many times, a realtor in a town knows about houses for sale before they are even listed. Just a thought.🌻
Yes. Our realtor actually grew up in the area we are looking in. Raising his own family there.
Have checked around the Marion/ Abington Va area. We built our first and current home. Don’t know if we would go it again. Make sure you pick and extremely reputable builder, because there are no a lot of scammers. Make sure if you buy land that it will perk for well and septic!
Those are the things that scare me Kathy😫
Darlene. Have you and Lou considered anything on or near the Blue ridge Parkway? We live about 8 miles from there. We love to take Sunday afternoon drives in that direction. I always tell my husband it's like being just a little closer to heaven. The views are breathtaking, and there are actually some really nice homes and properties for sale in the area. Hope you find your dream home soon, and God Bless.
I know what you mean about awful houses! When we were going to move to tennessee, we were shocked in the condition of many of the houses. We even looked at one that had a freezer full of rotten food in the basement. Rooms you couldn't see the floor for all of the stuff on it etc. Hard to believe people do that.
You are so right. Just gross! We have not been in any like that but seen plenty on line.
So very happy to see you!! 😆
Been missing you.
Like seeing you in your back porch.
Thanks for this Friday evening chat.
Virtual hugs to you Darlene, and Lou. 🤗
Come back soon!
🌷Sam
I’ve missed you too Sam. I really have. You’re a kind sweet friend ❤️
When the right home pops up you will know it in your soul. I am a Realtor and many of my clients will walk into the home and just know it is the one! Be patient. It will happen and when it does you will be ready. Take your time and find the right one. Your Realtor will understand and appreciate that.
Thank you Linda. There was one awhile back. We both indeed fell in love with. Had everything. A horse farm. Elegant. Perfect condition. Gorgeous pool. Etc. we were ready to leave the next morning~and it was gone before we left the house. I cried over that one. It was the house. But it just didn’t work for us. Sad.
Hi from Indiana, God bless you and Lou.
Thank you Robin.
We built our current home 25 years ago and it was an extremely stressful process. Do you have a realtor in the area you are looking in? If not, I would get one and discuss what your wants are to get the best property for you.
Hi Cheryl yep. We have a very good realtor.
We looked at 250 homes before we decided to just go with a new build. Just like you said, 90% of the homes are awful, it’s amazing how bad people keep their homes. We sold our house and had to rent until our home was ready. I wish you lots of luck. ❤️
Oh wow. You actually did it!! You are probably a wealth of information. 😌
We’re in the same boat, trying to sell our house deciding where to buy our next house. Now we’re getting into fall and I’m panicking. We may have to wait until next year. I can’t hear God right now either🙏🏻
It’s a terrible place to be. I will pray for you as well Andrea.
Good evening Darlene 👋👍🥰👍♥️😘. I will pray in God’s time you will find your dream home. 😊🙏🙏♥️ God Bless you and Lou ! 🥰👋👋
Hi Cheryl. Thanks. How are you and your family?
@@Souperat60 I’m doing ok. Sunday I dropped a glass dish on my foot and went to the emergency. It stopped bleeding so I went home. Started bleeding again cause I walked on it. My husband Bob went to CVS first and patched me up. I’m doing so much better now. Still sore but thank God I’m alive. There was a lot of blood in the Kitchener and bedroom and bathroom. It cut a vein. 😬 I didn’t realize I was cut. It was a glass butter dish that cut my foot. Lol I thought it was a bottle of hot sauce. Lol 😂. It was me. No more cute glass butter dish. It’s plastic from now on. Take care dear friend.
Hey Darlene Sweetheart ❤️ I thought for sure y'all had found the right house!!! Keep Praying and Believing 🙏❤️ Y'all are in our Prayers 🙏❤️ My Precious Father and Mother-in-law moved in their late 70's!!! They did Great❤🎉 We Love y'all so very much ❤️ Have A Beautiful Blessed Peaceful night ❤️ GOD IS SO GOOD ❤️
Thank you For your prayers.
Praying for you. God's got the perfect place for you and Lou. Rest in Him. Be blessed!
Thank you so much.
GOD BLESS YOU BOTH ♥️☦️🙏
What you are going through we are going through in the Pacific Northwest
When you are talking about Southwest Va, have you tried the Abingdon,Va or Bristol,Va. areas? Abingdon is a beautiful town. I wish you could get into a home before the holidays and the Winter. I know this is a trying time but I know you have read Isaiah 43:2. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you”. God bless. 🙏✝️♥️
It's awesome that you are waiting on the Lord. We are kind of in the same boat. He is being silent with us as well but we have to believe God is still on the throne and in control. He has the perfect house picked out for you, but He still has to wait on others to do their parts. Be patient an know His timing is perfect. We are all praying for you out here. God bless
Aww. Bless your heart. Such a sweet comment. Keep me posted.
Darlene I'm very happy for you and Lou I hope you find the perfect special place. I know you will. Fingers crossed 🤞. Take care.
Oh Nancy. Thank you.
You must have moved. I miss your videos and most of all your chats with us
Hi Sheri. No we have not moved yet. It’s so good to hear from you. I’ll be back very soon. Just took a little break. Lord bless, Darlene
Has anyone moved in their 60s?
Yes, we moved when my husband was 72 and I was 69. Just about killed me off.
Oh Sheila. I hear you. It is hard.
Contintud prayer that you will find your new home soon
Thank you Margaret
Hi Darlene.
Hi there Kiko. So good to see you here.
it'll be there when you're not looking . Love you❤❤
Will be praying for you and Lue and your big adventure.i don't think building would be a good idea wood and materials are astronomical right now unless it's one of those prefab homes .You will know when and where when the time is right.moving into a rental might be a good idea at least you could get to money since it is a seller's market right now then when the tables turn you will be ready.God Bless ❤🙏
We think alike. Great advice Susan. Thanks for your comment friend.
Thank you for this update. I can’t imagine the frustration you’ve had. You guys are in my prayers daily.
I was curious to know if you’ve expanded your search area, or considered dipping your toe into one of the surrounding states.
The answer will make itself known…..🙏✝️
You don’t actually need a realtor to build a custom house 🏡 this is Tracy not hubby Dave and we have 3 houses 🏡 two of which were custom. However if you want to save some headaches definitely call a realtor. Our experience was great with the first two houses as we used the same builder but our third experience was more work and headaches. However I love 💕 my house 🏡 but every builder is different and you must be careful as they can be sneaky 😈
