- Sourdough Cinnamon Raisin bread
Prepare your boule dough with starter:
Add 1 c raisins and 2T cinnamon
Allow to rise overnight.
Bake in DO.
Fall sausage Potato Soup
1 teaspoon dried basil
½ teaspoon dried parsley
½ teaspoon dried oregano
¼ teaspoon pepper
Soup
1 lb. ground Italian sausage, hot or mild
2 tablespoons butter
1 yellow onion, diced
½ cup diced carrots
2 ribs celery, diced
3 tablespoons flour
5 cups chicken broth
1 cup heavy cream
1 ¼ lbs. red potatoes, about 6 small potatoes
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, optional
Soup
Cook the Sausage: Remove the casings from the sausage if you purchased links. Preheat a large pot over medium heat. Add the sausage and cook and crumble to break it apart. Once cooked halfway through, cover partially and continue to heat, stirring occasionally, until cooked through. It’ll take around 10-12 minutes total. Set the sausage aside and reserve 1 tablespoon drippings. (Butter can be used if you don’t have drippings.)
Add the drippings to the pot along with 2 tablespoons butter over medium heat. Add the diced onions, celery, and carrots and cook for 5 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.
Add the flour and cook for 2 minutes. Add the chicken broth in splashes, and use a silicone spatula to “clean” the bottom of the pot to add more flavor the soup. Slowly stir in the heavy cream, hot sauce, soy sauce, and seasonings.
Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Clean the potatoes and pat them dry. Cut into 1-inch cubes and add them to the soup. Simmer, uncovered, until the potatoes are fork tender, about 20-25 minutes. Add the sausage back and stir to combine.
Reduce heat to low and stir in the cheddar cheese (if desired).
Garnish with red pepper flakes and parsley. Serve!

I make this recipe often but we call it sausage hash and it has been passed down in my family for years. We don't put the cheese in it every time but sometimes.
I make bread but have never worked with sourdough. Your breads always look so delicious and beautiful.

I gotta try that soup it looks so yummy and ideal for a cold weather day. The house is Beauitful. And lots of it. I only think when we retired and looked for a house to age in place we only wanted a single story ranch. Two car garage and storage shed. No stairs. A front porch and a screened in porch. A fireplace. A bathroom which would in days to come accommodate wheelchair, shower chair and hand bars, and raised toilets.
I love gardening (my husband does not) so I wanted space for raised beds and not a lot of yard to mow.
We did not want a lot to maintain so we could travel. Unfortunately, this Spring my husband was diagnosed with MDS.
And now things are on hold.
Not to place a damper on your dream house but there is so much to consider. We would never have thought we would be on this path.

That home is gorgeous. We are in the country on a tiny homestead but we have a beautiful mountain view and the view of a large family farm up the road a bit. And this country born and raised gal still loves the sights and sounds of working farms. Just can't beat it!!

Yes it is. They wanted a little bit of land, an updated kitchen and a first floor master. There is room to put in a pool if they want. And room for a kitchen garden. Thanks

Of the houses you’ve shown us, this one truly shines brighter than all the others. The kitchen is marvelous, and the spacious master bedroom is a dream! All of the bedrooms look plenty spacious. I pray all will work out for you and Lou if you make the decision to move forward.
Your soup looked amazing. I love that you try to use such nutritious items in your food. When I go grocery shopping, I pull out my handy dandy list of the Dirty Dozen fruits and veggies that are the most highly treated with pesticides so that I can be sure and buy those in the organic section.

Downstairs like a guest apartment for family or friends.and the leaves just get a bag for your riding lawnmower.just so so much living space be like being on vacation in different areas.the soup looked yummy might have to try tomorrow I've got everything to make it but the celery,I can't seem to use celery up fast enough do you have any tips to make it last longer.God Bless ❤🙏

The home is beautiful! And the area where it is located is beautiful! The soup sounds delicious! If you like olives One of my favorite breads is olive loaf. Sour dough olive loaf. The olives in the bread reminds me of dipping a fresh bread in seasoned olive oil without the fuss.

Hi there Darlene, ... Simply STUNNING!!! I had many doubts about the other houses that you have shown to us, but as you were taking us around this house my eyes were going everywhere. You know Darlene I absolutely loved what I saw. The colour scheme throughout the home is very tasteful, and I doubt that you would need to change anything at all.
The garden was beautiful and isn't Autumn a beautiful time of year with all the falling leaves. When I saw all the beautiful leaves on the ground I thought immediately of 'FREE MULCH!' What a lovely view you would have from the windows of the house, and yes, you wanted a mountain view.
Darlene, have you and Lou made an offer on this property? You don't want to leave it too long as you don't want to be gazumped and losing the property to someone else. It is a lovely home, and I am sure other potential buyers will be seeing it as well. For this process put all your trust in the LORD.
Your dinner looked delicious, and I am sure it tasted sooooooooooo good. Lou is a lucky man being married to such a good cook as he gets to try all your delicious food.
