This sound bar was number one on my list when I was building my system. Then I heard a Klipsch home theater and went with that instead, but I might get it for the living room. Although I’m also getting Rotel based HiFi stereo system with B&W speakers haha
I have 2 Bose 901 Series 1’s from 1968 that I retro-modded and added a miniDSP in place of the old noisy Analog EQ. Those are my main Speakers. My Center Channel is a Series 2 901 Fromm 1972. Two Bose 901 Series 2 Continentals serve as my Surrounds.
Its the branding and the price MOSTLY THE PRICE with Bose they very rarely are the best or even close when offered against a similar priced equipment but Bose does sound ok when compared to equipment that is three time LESS in price IE: Sony Samsung LG and so on brands that sell in this price range is were Bose products belong in sound comparison ... That's were most of the hate comes from the way over priced to spec and sound quality .. Yes Bose sounds OK but NOT worth the price
I actually had this sound bar and it died 7 months in and after I got it fixed I sold it. I loved it it introduced me to home theatre sound I looked it this priced and decided to build my own system.
This popped up and I watched it. Didn’t know people did not like Bose. I love Bose. It’s a company that’s been around for years, there customer service is great, and I love that there sound is clear and not scratchy. Yes, if you want the Dolby affect, wish it had that but that’s why you buy products based on what you’re looking for. Great input on both of y’all
I had the Bose 700 and Sub and the Arc and Sub. The Bose has much better dialog, which is VIP for me. The Bose sounded warmer. The ARC has a wider sound. The subs were about equal. I kept the Bose and added the 700 surrounds.
The sacrifice of a little precision for a much more grand scale when it comes to sound stage and depth is a Bose signature. This is a result of Dr. Bose’s award winning papers on direct/reflective sound as opposed pure direct sound. This led to the creation of the Bose 901s. And there is an entire section within the audio industry that’s geared towards that sound, and the production of Bi-Polar and Omnipolar speakers. For me personally, I enjoy reflective sound more than pure direct, in your face stuff like Klipsch. And for me, the Bose sound has more musicality for that very reason (vast soundstage, almost 3D like depth)....because that’s what live performances sound like. And I would categorize it as “inaccurate” or lacking in “musicality”. Good review! Really enjoyed it!
Audiophiles are haters... Simple as that... Nothing you have will be "good" to an "Audiophile" if their gear costs more... It's just unnecessary pretentiousness.
Hard not to agree with you Augustas, except I feel that it has more to do with the need to be "right" and a resistance to seeing that there can be more than one path to what is considered "good".
This is truth...audiophiles do hate EVERYTHING mainstream or popular with audio. They will always remind us that they own a superior product than what's being reviewed. Having said that...Bose isn't making sense selling an $800 speaker with no Dolby Atmos. This soundbar belongs in 2015.
i love BOSE, i do own big speakers and amp, but i also enjoy the sound of BOSE, it has something to it, like it's own signature, that is not for everyone, the fact that this is not appreciated by audiophile people is not a problem, we are all different in person and taste.
Im a JBL and Sony audio fanboy and I got my first Bose product last month, The Bose Soundbar 600 and rear surround + Module 500...I am impressed with the sound quality. Its well balanced, I love the clear dialogue. I love its not a muffled sound or bass monster... its just perfect..
I got to listen Back-to-Back the Sonos Arc and the Bose Soundbar 700, and quite honestly I liked the Bose better all things considered. I’m not a critical audiophile per say, but I am an audio enthusiast and am thoroughly considering the Soundbar 700 & sub combo.
@@FelixtheMetalcat You know it’s funny I was looking at the Fives if I was interested in a stereo speaker setup, but space-wise I like the Soundbar better for my apartment. The Fives are fricken amazing tho.
I like the fact that you call out the Bose haters! At the end of the day I want a product that works and sounds like I want it to sound. If it’s Bose, sennheiser or klipsch I don’t care. This is why we need reviews like yours that isn’t biased in any way. In fact on the back of this review I’m gonna give the Bose a go. The white one I think! Thanks Andrew. Keep up the good work. 👍🏼
The way you talk about sound is so satisfying! You make it super interesting and detailed. I also love the dialogue you have (With your wife?!). Its a nice addition to the video
Refardless of how ppl view Bose. They are also responsible for getting many of us interested in the audiophile world. I bought a unit thinking it was amazing. I soon learned it wasn’t but I have been collecting and upgrading since then. Now I have a few very nice setups. It all goes back to my original Bose purchase.
Great review guys! You hit alot of things I agree with. Bose doesn't suck at all. This sound bar is truly a solid performer and reminds people that they still know what they're doing and do it well.
The way I heard it when I was younger was, "No highs, no lows, must be Bose." I think it may have initially come from critics of the 901, because the speaker used 9 full range drivers and required pretty extreme EQ in order to approach a flat response. This is remembering old Bose from the early/mid 80s, but I always enjoyed their 501/601 towers. The only ones I have owned are the 2.1 version of the Acoustimass sat/sub. They didn't sound bad, but they couldn't really compete with the fidelity of a decent bookshelf speaker. I think a bit of the Bose hatred comes from the nature of a niche hobby. That being, "Nothing fails like success." Because it's a mass market brand that normal people know of, it automatically loses credibility. Part of it is also that Bose products rarely end up best in class for a particular price category. I think saying that Bose "sucks", is an overstatement. Bose has its place. It's probably better than a lot of people currently use. Won't likely do "that thing" that an audiophile is looking for.
Sorry to dissagre. As an example. The Definitive Technology Procinema 1000 will eat those cans of soda for lunch anytime. I personally would not take bose even for free.
I have to agree. I was one of those negative Bose people but never owned a Bose product. I have a LG 77GX and bought the LG SN9YG soundbar. The highs, mids and voices sounded “muffled” on most content on the LG. I then bought the Bose 700 with the base module and it blows the LG out of the water. Even my wife who is not in to electronics was impressed. I had her listen to the LG and Bose at the same time. High frequency sounds that were muffled on the LG you could here on the Bose. Voices were detailed, natural and clear. Even without Atmos the Bose sounds better on movies.
Remaining objective is another reason I like your reviews, I recently stopped watching another very popular review channel for seemingly shaming people for liking Bose speakers, couldn't help but hear your line "only person that needs to like your .... anyhoos, thank you.
Bose doesn’t SUCK!! I own the 700 Soundbar, 700 Bass Module and 700 Surround Speakers and unless you’ve actually experienced listening to these products in your own home setup, your opinion is irrelevant. There seems to be a lot of Bose haters out there holding onto old outdated opinions that only confuse others entering the consumer grade soundbar market because it’s popular to do so. Maybe Bose has made mistakes and or crappier products in the past, I can’t speak to it personally, but I will say to anyone that has doubts about this product/setup. Just go buy it, try it and if you still aren’t satisfied, return it. I’ve personally tried other products in the similar price range and landed on these guys. I’ve also added two Bose Home 500 Speakers that pair to this Soundbar nicely with functionality similar to Sonos products that I set up around the house. I recently added the 700 Headphones that pair with the 700 Soundbar as well for watching movies at night, only issue is that I wish the max volume was a bit louder. I’ve read that it’s for safety issues, but it’s not a deal breaker. Hope this helps anyone considering buying the 700 Series. Thank you Andrew for the honest in-depth review! Can’t wait to hear your take on it after you get the 700 Surround Speakers 😉
I bought a Bose 500 sound bar and bass module to use with my tv. It replaced my Quad hi fi with dynaudio speakers. I wasn’t sure if I’d like it because I’ve read so many negative comments about Bose. I’ve got to say that I am very impressed with the sound and quality. It’s not audiophile quality but it does sound brilliant for something that is slimline.
Greetings Andrew and Kristi!! I know about audio quality and yes, BOSE can bring it, totally on point with your review and well explained. I've been following the channel from quite some time and I really like your videos. I really like that you share them with Kristi and let her give her input on the subject, it's very refreshing as not a lot of people do that kind of reviews, at least not like you guys do. Keep up the good work and keep bringing those amazing reviews that show quality above all.
I’ve telling people. Bose is not garbage. Not at all. It is really expensive. I love my Polk surround sound system but my dads Bose surround sound system will easy hang with my Polk system. Easily.
I have a polk magnifi mini for 179. brand new. 4 mids 2 tweets one 6.5 sub (an overachiever) decent sound and large soundstage. I'm in an apt. building so it's enough for me. Til I get a house
Quite a few audiophiles are like flat earthers or born again Christians, or flat earth born again Christians! If you have ever tried to have a reasonable discussion with any of those you'll get what I'm saying!
I'm a BOSE fan, they've always been great at engineering, as an example I have the Soundlink Revolve bluetooth speaker, that's an ingenious bit of design, a single driver with an acoustic deflector (and some very clever DSP) produces genuine 360 sound no matter how the speaker is positioned. Brilliant.
They're great for restaurants and cafes. They have that market sown up due to a collection of nicely designed bookshelf and architectural products that give good sound around a room.
I’m selling my one year old Bose 700 for the 900. I love the 700 with sub and surrounds…so I’m expecting the 900 to enhance my movie and music experience to the next level!!!
@@luvtechLynn I right there with you. How much are you going to sell yours for? I’m going to at least try and get $400 for mine. I already pre-ordered my 900.
@@andycabrera7470 My soundbar is in mint condition…like brand new so I’m hoping to get $500 for it. I deal with a Magnolia System Designer in Best Buy that will order the 900 for me…plus I have $150 in rewards. I’m so excited to watch Dolby Atmos movies on my Sony 65” a90j OLED. Enjoy!
I gotta be honest, I'm not loyal to any sound system but really want bang for the buck. I was reluctant to spend big $ on the Bose 700 system but went for it anyway. I guess I wanted to see what a "high end" sound bar could be. I started with just the soundbar and it was nice but really wanted more kick. I sprung for the sub and was happy after running the sound app. I couldn't stop myself, I had to complete the 5.1 system. I spent the dollars for the wireless rear speaker setup to completed the system. I was skeptical that the tiny speakers could do the job. I was blown away by the complete system and is now the standard by which all others must compete. The sound clarity is tight, the sound is smooth and fills the room with sound seamless. I have to say, Andrew's review nails it, I agree 100% Bose is awesome! I still think about the money I spent but when the system is on, I forget about all that. Mostly.... ;-) EDIT: I forgot to add, I hate having yet another remote to deal with but used it when my 75" big screen tv remote died. I used the Bose remote in it's place and holy smokes, it's now my remote of choice. Just like the build quality of the speakers, the remote too is just built with quality and functionality. Cheers!
No Dolby Atmos in 2021 is a non-starter. Disney+, Apple TV, Netflix, Blu-ray, and more all offer it as premium audio. And Bose wants to milk customers for $1500 to offer an outdated audio format? 🤦🏾♂️
Bought the Soundbar 500 with the sub. Was really sceptical at first, especially for the price. What an amazing soundbar, coming from the Yamaha YAS-209 which I returned due to multiple issues. Miles apart. Only regret buying the 500, should've bought the 700.
Loved your review Andrew ...it is spot on. I own close to $7,000 in my two channel stereo and complement my ensamble for TV viewing with this Bose soundbar, plus matching sub and wireless rear channel satellites. Love the app and I just wished for $299 more, you’d have reviewed the entire system as a whole. To me it achieves the goal to provide the illusion of full surround sound, once you properly calibrate the system to your room. I simply love the app and the remote. Great review. Thank you Kristy for your inputs. 🥰👍🏼
Thank you and I appreciate you sharing your personal experience. I don't think the surrounds were in stock when we bought our 700 which is why they are not shown here, but it's good to know they flesh out the performance nicely!
When I got my very first flat-screen TV, I invested about 10 minutes to hook it up to my HiFi system. I just don't get soundbars period. I think it's very expensive for what it is, in other words, it's a Bose.
In other words, sound bars arnt for everyone. I have a love and respect for dedicated speakers. But I own a soundbar 700 with two 700 subwoofer and a pair of 700 surround speakers. The Bose exceeds in a lot of categories but also falls short in the categories that dedicated speakers exceed in.
@@k9killer221 no, you must of got confused. I have owned dedicated surround receivers with high end speakers. Klipsch.... but I now own the Bose 700 soundbar with two 700 subwoofers and a set of 700 surround speakers for the max performance. Things Bose does well other companies and solutions fail at. Things Bose lacks in are things other solutions exceed in.
I bought the klipsch 600 based on your review. I'm just 3.1 right now. will get surrounds eventually. bought the 600 from Klipsch while on sale. worth the price.
Andrew I love how clean your vids and b-roll are made and I only can speak from a shorter road of audio experience, but, I heard some somewhat recent bose systems and my car has the bose package and I think the bose problem is not properly lacking anything but it's just not as cleaner or as lively experience. It presents the sounds somewhat nice in space but it never feels at least to me true to life, even equalized sound a bit flat no matter what I add in a EQ. It always feel off even against cheap IEMs with even just a good Dynamic Driver. It's not bad for sure but not excepcional at something. Klipsch are the liveliness, the bang are the impressive sound, sennheiser are the laid back and bose is the thing that has some power to the sound but not excepcional at even that. After this, loved the vid props.
Awesome review! I was very curious as to what yours and Kristi’s take was going to be on the Bose 700 soundbar & 700 base module. I own this set up with the surround 700s. I really love your honesty in your reviews! You both bring out the good and not so good about a product and that’s what keeps me coming back. Even though I was very pleased with my purchase, it was still nice to hear your conclusion was a positive one. For me it was between the Bose and the Sennheiser...I choose the Bose because the Sennheiser was huge and wouldn’t fit under my TV. I have a small living room and love the aesthetics and build quality. I use my KEF LSX speakers with KEF sub for listening to music and the Bose 700 for everything else. Your channel brings excitement every time you come out with a new video...it’s like watching my favorite movie or TV series!!!
At some point in my life I was a Klipsch rep in the local military exchange. To give you an idea how long ago, my line was the Tangent XX series. While I had to share a wall with all the non-Bose speakers, Bose had an entire wall just for their products. I loved it when people would come in and start looking at the Bose wall and then I would suggest they compare the 901s ($999) to the Tangent 10s($270). Nine times out of ten, people agreed the 10s sounded better. Now that being said, I always felt the 401s where actually a good sounding mid priced speaker. And the original Acoustic Wave had no peers at the time. And remember, this was the era of the mini-fridge boom box. So while their "audiophile" centric gear was lacking(approaching appalling). They did have some gems in the lower end. And their noise cancelling headphones are top notched, if a little overpriced. BTW my favorite Bose burn... Bose-ohs... People who are complete Bose fanatics.
My 1994 Bose 701's are still kicking in my office setup. Good for non-critical listening, in fact kinda nice really. Martin Logan Odyssey and Rotel gear is reserved for my main setup.
No, BOSE does not suck! I have a SoundTouch SA5 Paired with AM5 Series 2 and 4.2 Series 2s. Plus a AM5 Series 3 with Series 21s. Clear crisp and powerful.
I just setup the Bose Soundbar 700 with Bass 700 and I absolutely love this setup. I did have to tweak the Bass module a bit to get decent sound when watching movies VS listening to music. I mainly got this to watch movies and TV shows more clearly. I do have trouble hearing high pitches include voice. The voice option is far better then anything else I have used thus far. I can not say enough good things about the remote. I’m blown away how easy this remote is and how functional it is. Paired with my 65” Sony TV this is an excellent complement to a quality TV with a little kick. If anyone has hesitations I would recommend buy, try and return if you don’t like it. But do play with the settings before you decide to return. I also have to say the Apple TV integration is excellent and exactly what I was hoping for. So far I’m a very satisfied customer.
I have the full 700 system and love the feel of remote but I want to use this system for 15 -20 years. Don’t you think the remote should have the basic functionality of adjusting sound settings? It does not have anything other than volume! For such a huge “soundbar” remote! When apps are not supported and phones reject the apps later, how do we adjust Bass, treble and use adaptiq?
@@Abhitips224 while I do agree it is a bit odd to not have the other options on the remote. I do not think in 15-20 years from now they would completely drop support for a high-end product. Though you may be correct, they could push a patch to add volume ability to the 3 different ranges. However, I suspect they would do that through the app before long. This also heavily depends the app so I do not see it going away anytime soon. In 15 years I may be upgrading to the next level hardware anyway so I’m not too worried. The one thing I would like to see is support for more frequently ranges. I suspect they can do it but may opt to stay with a simple interface for users.
I bought the black 700 bar right when the Alexa version came out, and I got my non-Alexa version for like 75% off. For that price, it felt worth it. It still has bluetooth, which works perfectly, and the HDMI ARC has been convenient. The build is clean, and it fits the aesthetic of my console shelf, TV and living room. Even then, I'm still constantly tempted to trade it out for a 2 channel receiver plus speakers on stands.
So you actually got the Soundtouch 300 which was really just the 700, is that right? Do you have a bass module with it? I had a chance to get the ST 300 and a 700 Bass Module for $399 dollars on facebook, but I think I have decided to go for the Sonos Beam from Cotsco. The 399 is a good price, just the 700 sub is now like 800 bucks. Maybe rethinking this now, lol.
I don't dismiss Bose because of terrible past products or that old phrase, I don't dismiss them at all. All companies have wins and fails. All companies can turn things around and return to making quality products.
Good review. I've had the Bose 700 sound bar combined with the sub 500 ( 700 was too powerful especially i have a neighbor) and the rear satellite speakers for over a year and not one bit disappointed. Your review is very accurate and was very pleased that you gave it a thumbs up. People who criticise Bose have no idea what they're talking about. Until you own one and have it setup in your room then you'll never understand the quality of the product. My brother has a mid range Samsung soundbar with sub and when he came to my house, he noticed the huge difference in terms of clarity and richness. The sound is not overpowering which is what I liked most and it's straight forward to setup.
@@andrewrobinsonreviews oh yes and yes, I watched tons of reviews on this one and almost non of them hitting the points that I want with such great delivery, and most of the reviews comes from non-audiophiles (coz “God forbid they come near Bose”), and your wife comments at the end is the cherry on the top.
I have the 700 sound bar with 2 700 subwoofers and 700 surround speakers. Flawless system. Except for directionality. But the surround speakers and 2 subwoofers. The surround speakers and extra subwoofer make the system more musical by a long shot. The system sounds good with one bass module but sounds excellent with 2 bass modules. I gave Bose a shot and I love it. Don’t know why people hate on them. It’s time to move on. Bose is Stellar now. Idc about what they used to make. I know Bose had bad subwoofers back in the day. I know Bose has some bad products. But these new products are amazing.
Kristi sounds fairly impressed with the 700, but sounded somewhat disappointed in the 900 and its “tinny" sound. Which of the two has a better sound to her?
It’s my money and my choice... In making my choice of soundbar I’ve trial tested and used a weighted criteria system... I ended up with Bose 700... no regrets. I’m so proud and delighted with it.
WeI have an odd room with half vaulted ceilings where we wanted to replace our 20 year old receiver dedicated surround system with something simpler. I tried the full Arc set up and some others with Atmos - none of them worked well and the sound was just ok. When spending $2k for a full setup I just expected better and the Atmos effect fell flat because of the room shape, and We weren’t happy with them sonically. The 700 with sub and jewel cubes hit the sweet spot for our room and ears. Sound is subjective, but we really appreciate the Bose. We find It allows movies and tv to be much more immersive and find it does terrific with music as well.
Good to know about the dialogue enhancement option. Might buy one for my father because his normal tv watching volume is REALLY FREAKING LOUD and he hates captions (smh) Great review
My Dad is the same way. I should get him one too. Highly recommend for the hearing impaired. The change is significantly noticeable with enhancement turned on.
I have the 900 with the 700 bass module and surround speakers. I love it. It looks good and sounds great. A lot of people say the 700 surround speakers are too quiet and they’re definitely not loud but they’re doing exactly what I want to do and add that full surround sound experience.
I've had the Bose 300 soundbar, Bass 300 (use 2 in my set up) and the matching invisible surrounds the last 2 1/2 years. Love it. With the 2 bass modules, and the matching surrounds, it make a huge difference in expanding the sound. Had friends over that thought I had an Atmos system due to the soundstage. When the 700 system came out I had no need or desire to change...
I replaced a 7.2 system of McIntosh, Rotel and B&W costing 10s of thousands of dollars for a Bose 5.1 smart bar ultra system that cost less than half of the price of just the Mcintosh pre. We remodelled our den and I simply didnt want to run dozens of cables all over again. The results have been an eye opener. The Bose sound bar system does in fact, give the 10 times more expensive setup a run for its money! Can it match it? Of course not! BUT, for watching movies and playing games the difference is not nearly as obvious as you would ever expect. In fact despite the Mc preamp having the latest and greatest adapti Q system (im sure the Bose one is of lower spec) the Bose easily has more coherent dialog than the 10 times more expensive one! It has plenty of volume, plenty of powerful, very deep, clear bass and the sound quality and surround performance of the bar is excellent! The onle cable required for setup was a single HDMI from the bar to the TV. The surrounds and sub are wireless. Setup using the Bose app was a snap. Coming from an "audiophile" count me as duly impressed.
The thing with BOSE is that they produce some really good products *for what they are*. And what they are is typically compact all in one units, portable speakers, tiny satellites with subs, etc. These are product categories that nothing ever excels in the way that larger speakers do, because frankly, they can't. So BOSE make really good products in sub optimal categories - fundamentally limited in what they can ultimately do, but they do those particular things better than most direct competitors. So they are really strong candidates if you need that particular product category/form factor. but probably not if you can have traditional bookshelf / tower speakers. It's no accident that the two products where they have really gained acceptance is portable bluetooth speakers, and headphones. Because these are products that are defined by their form factor. A portable bluetooth speaker has to be light, it has to fit in your bag. And when all of your options are limited by form factor, then BOSE are pretty good at maximising what that will deliver.
Nail on the head! Also a lot of people actually want relatively compact systems that sound good all around the room. They like the Bose sound. They might be blown away if they hear a full size 5.1 or 7.1 home theatre system but chances are they don't want to use that much space on their home system. They're not wrong for wanting Bose.
I like Bose. They sound good in a pinch. I kept my little soundlink mini 2 in my bag for a trip all around Europe. Had chill wine parties in my Airbnb’s, Worked on music in Berlin and Prague with that plugged into my MacBook Pro. And when I got home my mixes sounded pretty good on my real system. Bose let me take my music with me. With zero hassle. And it sounded good. Everyone commented on how filling it was. And we’re all surprised when they saw how small it was. Haters gonna hate. I’d rather just have something that sounds good and not worry about what the egg heads say.
Bose is better then sonos arc in sound quality, in sound overall bose is better. BUT sonos arc has Dolby Atmos, but if you don’t care about that, trust me, bose is better.
Given the amount of people that like them. I am hard pressed to dish Bose. Are there better performers for less money, sure. On the flip side, I always felt their lifestyle products were hard to beat for sounding decent and being easy to place in a room.
It’s true, lately the company Bose has been focused on architecture. The looks of their speakers, materials as well are extremely classy. I wish high end cars had glass and brushed metal finishes like these new Bose speakers. Makes it more wife approved 100%... I gotta say Bose used to make some awful subwoofers and decent speakers. Now they make excellent small speakers and sound bars. And their subwoofers are among the best I’ve ever heard. The way Bose uses dsp for low volume listening sessions is genius. And their room calibration is unmatched compared to anything else out on the market.... now is there better out there. Yes, if you are very serious about music and movies buy a lexicon, buy revel, buy B&W.... but Bose is coming up with easier solutions. No receivers, no amps, no big speakers... I am a believer that big speakers can be just as beautiful. Like the Bowers and Wilkins looks amazing as well as the revel. But way more expensive than the Bose. They arnt in the same category.
My new dream home requires a sound bar. I went the passive route with an Atlantic Technology FS 5, powered by a Denon X2600 AVR and supported by a SVS SB2000 Pro...... Absolutely blows my mind every time I power it on and could not be happier.
I bought the Samsung hw 900t on boxing day sales based on your recommendation..my man cave is 18ft by 18 ft...and let me tell you the Sammy ROCKS the room. I can't turn it up past 35. As my wife says when watching Dolby Atmos content "you can feel it in your chest". I have zero regrets and highly recommend. Love all your reviews guys!
CAN YOU SAY JBL 9.1 VS KLIPSCH CINEMA 600 VS Bose Soundbar 700+Bass Module 700, which sounds more better and also in comparison with the Deep Bass Quality? Please help me purchase the perfect match for me!
I had never seen the movie before until recently and LOVED it. I was freaking bawling at the end. Such a gorgeous film and beautifully acted. One day we hope to visit your lovely country.
I am Bose guy any given day. My first expensive headphones that I had were Soundlink around-ear wireless headphones II, and they still are my favourite to this day. Great reliability and good material and finish. People need to keep one thing in mind, it is a work of art when it comes to speakers or any musical source materials. Take it or leave it! As always you guys are amazing with your work. Keep up! Looking forward to the next one. 🤟
I picked up the LG SNRG 7.1.4 sound system and was not happy with it. My LG 65" C1 factory speakers sounded much better than the LG surround system. The speaker system sounded "Canned" and I could not hear the surrounds unless I was right by them. I returned the system to Best Buy and then ordered the Bose 700 soundbar and matching sub off Amazon...Night and day difference between Bose and LG sound systems. Although Bose was a PITA to set up...I am very happy with it...
Regarding Bose, I was exposed to them in the mid to late 2000s. Tons of people were raving about the Wave radios like they were Heresy Mk IVs. And my $200 Kenwood shelf system has so much more warmth and bottom end. So yeah, I've been less inclined to give them a chance. I do have their noise canceling earbuds, though, and like them a lot.
Thank you for this. I’ve had the 700 w/ subwoofer for a couple years and have always loved the sound. I’ve always wondered if the Bose trash talk meant that other brands sounded so much better and I had just had poor audio tastes.
Controversial! Both are in direct competition. Both sound very very good. The Bose subwoofer tanks the sonos sub... the sound bar alone, the sonos soundbar has the same sound signature but has more depiction. But doesn’t have the spaciousness that the Bose has. Another thing is the design of the sonos is not for everyone. So that will hold a lot of people back from getting the sonos arc... not a bad product. Tho overall I definitely prefer the Bose
Eh in a store Bose sub sounds better but not in a home application - I work at Best Buy Magnolia and yes both sound great but Sonos sound stage is much more advanced than Bose - and the arc so selling so fast since it was released I don’t think people have an issue with the design. Sonos also kills Bose with their ability to connect multiple speakers and create multiple zones and the app is more user friendly.
Just ordered the soundbar and the bass module. Can't wait to get it all setup. I'm nowhere near an audiophile, but for me, no matter what other brand I might hear for home audio, Bose has just always been my favorite. With my primary use being TV, movies, and such, crystal clear vocals have always been important to me and Bose just delivers on that with every product I've ever purchased from them. The sound overall just sounds very crisp. I feel most of the crowds that dislike them are those that like to go against the grain. They're a very Apple-like company. You certainly pay an extra tax for their products and people tend to hate popular companies like that with similar business models. They become blind to facts and immediately dismiss the product the second they hear who made it.
The new sound bar solutions Bose makes are honestly pretty damn good. No it’s not for audiophiles. But a common person looking for stylish and good movies it’s a great solution or option.
I never once heard the phrase Andrew references at beginning of video. Having owned a pair of Bose 301s as a poor teenager, I can say the overall sound was quite good and they played loud. As I grew up and learned more I realized how Bose were made of cheap materials that really did not dictate the prices. Bose has been successful because they MARKET so heavily to people who dont know sh-t about stereo equipment in general. And $1500 for this setup reviewed is comical...
Great job as always, Andrew and Kristi! Got the Bose TV speaker for our family living room last year (limited space & volume), but the 700 was the product which caused me to consider Bose when I listened to all the soundbars at my local Best Buy. There were a lot of good sounding systems, but the Bose ones just stood out for me and seemed great without having to tweak anything/much (granted might not be super accurate/neutral). I'm no audio expert, but I am a musician. I agree, the Dialogue enhancer is very useful. And you're right, Bose does really well even without Atmos. And overall, would consider Bose again, especially if I can get something bigger than our current setup (including the bass module).
Yeah, I think you got the experience Bose is after, and it's one of the things I like about this system. It takes very little work to get "right". Glad to hear you're enjoying your setup!
Thanks for the review, it was really in-depth and touched on all points. I’ve been a Bose fan for many years (with their headsets) but I’ve never purchased a sound bar from them, so I now feel comfortable that I made the right decision in ordering this set up today.
I love Bose I HV 700 sound bar, surround speakers and base module ,it's a killer , Bose system are always expensive ,but it's worth It's a theater effect
I've had access to much of the high-end stereo and headphone market and can honestly say: Bose isn't that bad, especially modern Bose. In fact, it was a very, very close thing that made me choose the Bowers and Wilkins PX7 over the Bose 700 headphones and having heard some sound bars, it often came down to this setup, or the Sonos option (though I have yet to hear the Sennheiser Ambeo). In terms of other speakers, even going back to the Computer MusicMonitor (which I'm looking for a decent pair of on the used market), which was over a decade ago, I've liked their sound. Even if it wasn't the most accurate, it was fun to listen to. So thanks for this review and considering the product rather than the brand name and general audiophile wisdom.

This sound bar was number one on my list when I was building my system. Then I heard a Klipsch home theater and went with that instead, but I might get it for the living room. Although I’m also getting Rotel based HiFi stereo system with B&W speakers haha
O ok I hope you get to do the review on ot.
Never about price. It's usually the other way around with Bose; they cost too much for the quality of sound they produce.
Nice shirt.
Much needed message.
Agreed.
i love BOSE, i do own big speakers and amp, but i also enjoy the sound of BOSE, it has something to it, like it's own signature, that is not for everyone, the fact that this is not appreciated by audiophile people is not a problem, we are all different in person and taste.
Yes it has it’s own signature sound! I really like my 700 and that’s a good way to describe it
I loved my 201 s , had them for years . Wish I'd never sold them

I very much appreciate your watching to the end and support of my involvement. :)
I never liked Bose until a bought a sound bar by Bose and I love it I will continue to buy Bose
My takeaway here is that you pronounced "timbre" correctly and used it properly in context. Bravo.
Oh, and great review too.
I didn’t know people disliked Bose that much. They’re crazy and clearly have never used bose. It is easily my favorite brand for audio technology
You can buy Klipsch The Fives and Hsu Research sub for about the same price and have a much better sounding system, easily.

Glad you enjoy it!
Those conversations at the end of your videos are a great addition. I hope they keep coming.
Bose is awesome. Specially their older stuff and headphones of course. Running 501’s and loving every listening day!
This soundbar is LITERALLY AMAZING!
I appreciate your open mindedness and for sharing your personal experiences!
I have always LOVED Bose products!
Great sound, build, reliability, ease of use!
Awesome products!
BTW: I studied Recording engineering in university
Remaining objective is another reason I like your reviews, I recently stopped watching another very popular review channel for seemingly shaming people for liking Bose speakers, couldn't help but hear your line "only person that needs to like your .... anyhoos, thank you.
I just received my Soundbar 900. I am so pleased with the sound. Great review as usual.
Can’t wait to hear your take on it after you get the 700 Surround Speakers 😉
wish it had a second hdmi
Easily.
well, it's polk. not much competition
I’m saying Bose isn’t as bad as people say. A lot of people would put Polk way ahead of Bose. Same with klipsch.
I have a polk magnifi mini for 179. brand new. 4 mids 2 tweets one 6.5 sub (an overachiever) decent sound and large soundstage. I'm in an apt. building so it's enough for me. Til I get a house

@@user-gz6tx6yp3v ☝️
Most audiophiles don't take any issue with Bose noise cancelling.

Mostly.... ;-)
EDIT: I forgot to add, I hate having yet another remote to deal with but used it when my 75" big screen tv remote died.

Best comment and all facts 💯. No Dolby Atmos is an instant deal breaker especially for what Bose is charging. Bose soundbars are stuck in 2016 smh.
@@lamar310 2016? Dolby Digital is from the 90s 🤷🏾♂️🤣
Thanks for watching, Jorge!
when people can't afford good quality stuff like bose, they make fun of it and bash it.
The $600 wave radio costs $37 to make and their speakers uses cheap paper drivers. You mean people can’t afford good quality marketing of Bose
@@jackkinman1962 So basically you have a complete sound system, of which the soundbar is only one element.
Thanks Bruno, appreciate the comment and you sharing your personal experiences.

I don't understand why the dislike of bose I've never been disappointed by them.
My 1994 Bose 701's are still kicking in my office setup. Good for non-critical listening, in fact kinda nice really. Martin Logan Odyssey and Rotel gear is reserved for my main setup.
A billion $ company with consumer products that are overpriced.
Used to make groundbreaking speakers earlier.
But now most products are just okay.
I use an Acoustimas 7 + Acoustimas 5 for full surround in my livingroom for over 20 years now....and movie watching makes still fun...
Place your base module behind r sofa or chair ,will give u towering effect ,sofa will vibrate ,trust me

Mr Pickle, there might be too much common sense in this comment! :)

Might buy one for my father because his normal tv watching volume is REALLY FREAKING LOUD and he hates captions (smh)
Great review
My Dad is the same way. I should get him one too. Highly recommend for the hearing impaired. The change is significantly noticeable with enhancement turned on.
I have the 900 with the 700 bass module and surround speakers. I love it. It looks good and sounds great. A lot of people say the 700 surround speakers are too quiet and they’re definitely not loud but they’re doing exactly what I want to do and add that full surround sound experience.
Wonderful review, thank you!
Enjoyed the review. Felt balanced and insightful and......fun.
Thanks, Harry!
Well said , I never got their concept of small sound paying big price for a small speaker , I like small price big speaker
Keen to see you review this against the Sonos Arc.. trying to decide between the two
Bose is better then sonos arc in sound quality, in sound overall bose is better. BUT sonos arc has Dolby Atmos, but if you don’t care about that, trust me, bose is better.
Sir which sounds overall better t700 with t bass 700 or t beosound stage?
Good morning, everyone! Who woke up today thinking they had slept in super late? 🙋♀️
Now my dog wakes me up at 7am instead of 6am, much better.
My cat still woke me up at 5 AM for food, clearly he didn't get the clue :(
@@gibranespinoza6603 Thankfully, our dog slept in right along with us.
My one month old decided it’s time to be real gassy and happy at the same time. No sleep for me haha
Always happy to hear your thoughts. You and Andrew make a great team!
The 700 surrounds have been out of stock for about 10 months now. I hope they make them again so we can actually order the full set for 5.1
Go on website and check constantly for refurbished
@@eddythegamer123 it was in stock then sold right back out, the demand for them is as high as the soundbar. Issues with transport in Mexico and India
I have the SoundTouch 300 (which is the 700 without Alexa), the surround speakers with the 700 sub. Great sound.
Same here! I'm pleased with Bose products ;)
So glad to hear!!
Love my Bose 700 soundbar bass module and surround speakers!!! Power House sistem!!
CAN YOU SAY JBL 9.1 VS KLIPSCH CINEMA 600 VS Bose Soundbar 700+Bass Module 700,
which sounds more better and also in comparison with the Deep Bass Quality?
Please help me purchase the perfect match for me!
Loved the back shots of the film,Australia 🇦🇺
A classy touch, cheers from Queensland
I had never seen the movie before until recently and LOVED it. I was freaking bawling at the end. Such a gorgeous film and beautifully acted. One day we hope to visit your lovely country.
Well please feel free to let us show you around this Great Southern Land , and enjoy our B&W 702s2 plus friends 🇦🇺 love ya work
I am Bose guy any given day. 🤟
I have a couple bose the revolve sound link cylinder Bluetooth players and I love them
I picked up the LG SNRG 7.1.4 sound system and was not happy with it.
Reviews as they should be, gold standard, kudos.
I loooooove that you are filming your wife's point of view lately.
Thank you for this. I’ve had the 700 w/ subwoofer for a couple years and have always loved the sound. I’ve always wondered if the Bose trash talk meant that other brands sounded so much better and I had just had poor audio tastes.
Get the Sonos Arc and Gen 3 sub and compare - the Sonos is much better!
Have this set up in my living room. Sounds great, does exactly what I wanted and does it well.
Always appreciate hearing from musicians! Thanks for watching and sharing!
Yeah, I think you got the experience Bose is after, and it's one of the things I like about this system. It takes very little work to get "right". Glad to hear you're enjoying your setup!
I like some Bose products, there I’ve said it. The 901 can do some amazing things. Apple on the other hand , just don’t get me started 😀
Your secret is safe with me!
Thanks for the review, it was really in-depth and touched on all points. I’ve been a Bose fan for many years (with their headsets) but I’ve never purchased a sound bar from them, so I now feel comfortable that I made the right decision in ordering this set up today.
I love Bose
I HV 700 sound bar, surround speakers and base module ,it's a killer , Bose system are always expensive ,but it's worth
It's a theater effect
