    Had Bose my entire life except for a few Samsung and Yamaha speakers on spare TVs. Now I have changed almost everything over to SONOS. These SONOS speakers are unbelievable and so easy to build upon with a great Wi-Fi system. I get much clearer and crisp sound out of my SONOS. Recently replace my outdoor Bose with two SONOS moves. Once again blown away. I will always vote SONOS until something can beat it. Good comparison video.

    PLEASE review both with surround speakers.
    After hearing the beam gen 2 in store it seemed more like a 3.1 system - more of a forward-focused meaty sound geared toward music. Bought the bose 600 as it has a wider brighter sound. It's more ideal for movies with the newer dolby atmos format coming from dedicated upward-facing speakers. Yes it's true it's still not going to be the same as ceiling-mounted speakers, but it's a little bit closer for us that can't have a cinema room. So far running through several movies, it really brings the films alive as you would hope. Having downsized and uncluttered from a sony dn1080 5.1 separate speaker AV system I'm impressed. I will still look to add surround speakers but bose surrounds cost around £300+. To be fair to sonas they do have cheaper add-on options - look at the sonos ikea bookshelf speakers.
    Another thing to note is the lack of dts support with the bose, however, if like me you have the ability to convert dts to dolby 5.1 this isn't an issue. I must admit I havnt tried lossless dolby atmos. I will need a new eARC TV to get lossless atmos or an hdmi e-arc compatible splitter, but I get by with dolby digital plus passing lossy dolby atmos.
    Pretty sure you cant go wrong with either of these soundbars, but the bose 600 suits me more.

    I am currently in the market for a sound bar for a small room in this range. I have mostly narrowed it down to these two and have listened to both in person. I think I prefer the Bose to the Sonos. In person, and (despite being recorded and then played through YT) still apparent in this video comparison, the Bose has a "bigger" sound than the Sonos. I also find it to be a little clearer/crisper. Even if you're not listening to Atmos content, I think it really benefits from the up-firing speakers, giving the impression of a bigger soundstage.

    Having now seen these in store (john Lewis). The Bose is the clear winner. Was looking at the Sonos, but as they pointed out in store. Have a listen to this (Bose 600) it blew me away. Much deeper, immersive and cleaner sound. You say lacked base. It was shaking the floor. The Bose also looks much more premium. But as always comes down to taste.

    Picked up the Beam Gen2 for $359 USD today. For its size and being an all in one minimalist solution for a bedroom, it's pretty nice. My initial impression had me looking around the room for other speakers that weren't there. It's not anything like having actual drivers around the room but that's the point. It simulates well for a tiny package and creates a wider than it looks soundstage.

    I’ve just bought the Bose 600. I had an old Yamaha YST-SW205 sub left over from a previous set up. I connected it to the Bose via its base output using a 3.5mm Jack to RCA cable. The sound output is astounding. What I don’t like is both the HDMI and power inputs are angled towards each other on the rear of the unit with the base output in between. Which means the cables cross each other when connected. It’s the most needless and stupid design I’ve ever seen.

    I have narrowed my next soundbar down to 5. I want a smaller bar and ideally not to have to add an additional sub. It's for a large living room. If you have any knowledge on the other sound bars and could give some advice I'd be very grateful.

Which of these would you recommend, or is ther a better alternative that might not be as expensive please? What I really want Sonos to make, is a Five Center sound bar that can be paired with four other Fives. Even better if they bring out a new version of the Five with upward firing speakers to give us a true 5.2.4 set up! But until then I’m enjoying both my Arc SL and Beam 2.

      I think you are not alone on wanting seperate left and right fronts as it is one of the most requested features at this moment, so hopefully Sonos will make this possible one day. As far as I know the forthcoming Sonos Optimo speakers will replace the Ones and the Fives and enhance them with Atmos capability.

    • @audie-cashstack-uk4881
      @audie-cashstack-uk4881 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wen plugged in it will allow all other sonos speakers and subs to send there WiFi signal to it so instead of a 5.1 WiFi set up you have a single channel WiFi set up andmthe additional speakers are now wirelessly connected to the beam as a HUB so it works like this no Etherley = all speakers in the eco system communicate via WiFi box if beam is Etherley connected all speakers work via the beams wireless system and only the beam speaks to the WiFi box ALL THIS OFFERS IS LESS DEVICES ON YOUR WIFI if your limited to that some gow many a hotspot or phone type set up

      I added the Arc/sub/Fives to my existing Beam/sub/One and noticed some wi-fi slow down with TV streaming and laptop webpage refresh. I plugged the Arc into my ethernet router and the slowdowns went away. You just need to plug one device into your router and it will set up a Sonos wi-fi network to take the load off your existing network.

    Hi, does someone know how to connect using bass output some active subwoofer different brand? I have SVS SB-1000Pro and even on the SVS web they said it is working only need a 3.5mm jack to RCA adapter and then sub cable...but it's not. I checked cables, connect it to the smartphone and sub is working but from Bose not, it seems like there is no signal at this Bass output, how to enable it?

    The glaring omission of HDMI passthrough with the Bose 600 means I'll have to return it with a heavy heart. For TVs from around 5 years ago and older, this makes it pretty much unusable when it comes to Atmos. With my LG OLED 55B6D I can have Dolby Vision or Atmos enabled, but not both. Not even an added streaming box like an Apple TV is a solution, since the TV can't handle passthrough of Atmos over ARC and going through relevant forums suggests, this isn't just an issue for me. So for many people who want Atmos, this isn't it, unfortunately.

      Sonos as it has a amazing sound stage and hight and base from it's self even without added sub woofers and surround speakers wen sat centrally with the TV, and directly ahead of your sofa is amazing how good it is. Also I had it's way of dealing with speach in speach enhance off is on par with other systems with speach enhance ON you will also get a surround effect with it

    • @mrgold3591
      @mrgold3591 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your TV might be stereo; but, the actual audio might be 5.1 to Atmos content. I would go for the soundbar to future proof you down the road. More content is being now being done in Atmos and that might be the standard with 5.1.X being the minimum. You can add a sub or rear speakers at anytime with Sonos. I added Symfonisk rear surrounds to my Beam, added the Gen 3 Sub a year later, and recently upgraded the Symfonisk to One SLs.

      I've got the Sierra with the subwoofer & it's very impressive for the money.
      Ive just bought a beam gen 2. It arrived today. Initial testing I love the convenience of it for music as well as tv.
      The Sierra has more oomph whereas the Sonos is more refined & subtle.
      I live in a flat & wanted something that fits the environment for both music & TV & feel the beam likely suits me better.
      However if mainly Into using for effects in action films & not too concerned about the neighbours the Sierra perhaps has more appeal.

They are in the Apple ecosystem and don't need bluetooth and as for Atmos, I would probably buy a higher end soundbar if that was important. If they need add ons I have a couple Sonos Ones and Roam SLs that I can give to them if they need rears. Thanks for the review. It was helpful.

    I have just returned my Sonos Gen 2 to Currys and got the Bose 600.
    Sonos is completely useless and the app wouldn’t connect. Sonos admitted that they have known of this issue for weeks but can’t fix it at the moment. Bose is brilliant and I set up within 5 mins with no issues.
    AVOID Sonos as it’s over complicated to set up through app and you can’t use Bluetooth.
    Bose can do it all 👍🏻
    Also you don’t get a remote with Sonos so you have to use the app.
    Bose comes with a sleek remote and you can still use the app if you want so get best of both worlds.
