    I have exactly the same system black 700 soundbar black 700 base module and silver rear surrounds. I have found this system to be excellent. The app could be better but it’s still good enough. The sound is absolutely the best that I have heard for playing music and is also superb for movies. Being able to change bass and treble is great, I recommend this system.

    I thoroughly enjoyed this very in-depth review. Wow, the detail and humor.
    I also appreciated the mention of the LG Oled TV and it’s design choice not being well suited for this bar being directly in front.

    The center of the Bose is a beast! I don't think that you need the surroundings after the collaboration of the center & the subs.
    Pretty clean right there.
    But with the surrounds... would be a privilege. 🤔👌

    For me the main objective of a soundbar is decent audio without the clutter. In my view you might as well get a traditional audio set up over a soundbar system with rear speakers since you're not eliminating any clutter.
    I was into soundbars before most folks heard of them but now I'm intrigued by powered bookshelf speakers with optical input for good audio that's clutter free. Yes, I know you're only getting stereo sound but overall it's probably superior to 99% of the sound bars out there and 100% for music. The software is pretty crude since these are foremost speaker companies.
    Any chance the NeverEnough tech guy can review those Kanto TUK Powered Speakers? You may find out why there is a reason to use those optical cables. Just a thought.

      John B, I've been going the other way and looking at sound bars to replace my sub + bookshelves. I suspect you're right about bookshelves being better than sound bars for music, but I still desire something less cluttered. I'm running a pair of wireless powered Kanto Yumi's with a vintage Mirage PS12/90 subwoofer. This replaces a $4000 tower and Denon integrated amp I used to have, but with a fraction of the equipment. I've heard the TUK is very good, themasterswitch dot com has a glowing review of it. Kanto dials up their treble to be a bit hot, but they nail the midrange.

    I just checked my Bose Lifestyle 650. It passes lossless Dolby TruHD, from my 4K Blu-ray player. And LPCM when streaming music. Fact is most streaming services dumb down the audio portion to lossy 5.1 formats.

  • @robertphillips4155

    Hi Daniel, thanks for your videos. I’ve got two questions for you.
    Question one: Does the adjusting the bass make a lot of difference?
    I need to simplify my TV setup, using primarily an Apple TV for all streaming and a Blu-ray/DVD and a single, simple remote like the new Apple TV remote. I’ve narrowed it down to Bose or Sonos. I did pick up a Bose soundbar 700 with subwoofer from BestBuy and tried it. I typically love the Bose sound for their crystal clear sound and enough bass. I set it up and used the headset to calibrate the sound. I’m not one to be super critical regarding sound, I just know what I like . . a clear sound and a deep bass. Once I got the system set up and calibrated I was very happy with the surround sound abilities and disappointed with the lack of bass. Since typically there is limited to no EQ with Bose, I didn’t bother looking for it in the app. I only found out about the treble and bass adjustment after I took the Bose back to BestBuy. I also like that it can be controlled and adjusted with a separate remote.
    Question 2: Do you have any thoughts about how to support the Sonos product should the company either stop supporting the app or if they go under? This is my only concern.
    My other consideration for a soundbar is Sonos. It’s not as crystal clear to my ear (but pretty darn good) as the Bose and the surround sound abilities don’t seem as clear but it’s very good and the bass is much more prominent and punchy. My only concern with Sonos is its complete dependence on an app. They only way to connect any devices or make any adjustments is through an app on my phone. This is a product that I hope to have for 10 - 20 or more years. Smart phones have only been around since 2007 (14 years) and I’ve already had a couple of products since then that I liked and used but the company either went out of business or stopped supporting their app. This made their product useless even though is was a good hardware design and still worked. Once it was no longer available in the app store, it became ewaste. Bose has an included remote where you can configure the system, not dependent on the app.
    Thank you

    I have the previous version of this (SoundTouch 300 bar ,bass module ,and rears.) from my understanding audio is the same , just smart features are different. If I were to do it again I’d most likely go Sonos. The Bose setup does sound good but that’s about it. The 300 does have pass through which I use for my Apple TV 4K but it does cause some headaches. All in all for the price I believe there are better options for sure especially since Bose has sold you the same bar twice in the last 5 years but this time with just Alexa. We did however finally get AirPlay 2 after like 3 years of promises. Smh.

    I'm not a big a bass fan so I got the bass module 500 refurbished for 250$, soundbar was 700 and surround speakers were 500$. All in all 1450$ is worth it, those tiny surrounds pack a punch while watching stranger things or umbrella academy. I will say I wanted atmos for the feeling overhead, but configuring as much as I did even with satellites, the bose still kick both of those on clarity and immersion was better on bose with the rear speakers.

    It's a shame that Bose seems to only pay attention to good home audio when they're forced to. Bose has had active EQ tech for decades (all premium car audio uses DSP to drive $200 worth of electronics so they can charge you $2000 for the privilege, haha), but it felt like they sat on their profits rather than invest in R&D to improve their products. Even Dr. Floyd Toole poked fun at the Bose Acoustimass and their awful frequency responses and resonances. My understanding from the rtings review is that the 700 measures great, and their audio performance finally reflects them taking sound seriously.

    I have tested bose acoustimass 700 and jbl 3.1 soundbars side by side , both with 10 inch subwoofer, and on same songs,on same movie trailers, they both sound equal. But bose acoustimass costs 600 euro ,and jbl 3.1 costs 300 euro whole system . So,in my opinion, those expensive subwoofers like bose 700 and sonos generation 3 isn't a value for money. Jbl is a beast. As for the bars , yes, the bose 700 bar sounds a little bit better than the jbl bar, with a little bit better midrange ,but again, it costs 700 euro. Way overpriced for what they give to us.

Not horrible but far from impressive however, with the awesome convenience of true wireless rear speakers I decided to keep it. A couple of months later, the rears started cutting out, even when fully charged. After reading a bunch of reviews online, I quickly realized that I certainly wasn't the first to experience this. • @ruialex314
      @ruialex314 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@neverenoughtech It was after the update. Surround does work I did get 5.1 just not LPCM, i noticed that because I got my Sonos arc as soon as the LPCM update for the Sonos rolled out and it worked. The easy test for me was on the Nintendo switch that only supports LPCM for surround somehow, and I couldn’t get surround sound with the Bose but the Sonos Arc could, also with my SoundTouch 300 from Bose I could get LPCM on the Nintendo switch just by plugging in my switch to the hdmi in port of the bar, overall I feel like the soundbar 700 was a downgrade in compatibility compared to the SoundTouch 300, that’s why I ended up going with the Sonos Arc.
      Edit: also called Bose customer support and if you search the forums it’s very mixed some say it supports some don’t, the last answer I got from a Bose technician was that it doesn’t support it only supports Dolby 5.1 or dts, but each user may vary some were saying it worked but they just had the bar and the sub so they were only getting 2 channel PCM....

      I have the Bose 700 soundbar with matching Bose 700 subwoofer. I also have the Sonos Arc SL that I purchased from Costco with Sub Gen 3. I have connected both systems to my LG OLED CX 48. I have had both systems for just over a week and I am switching back and forth between the two to see which one I will return. I have also connected both systems to my PC using the optical output of my Sound Blaster AE-5 plus sound card. I am using my LG OLED CX 48 as a PC monitor. For music listening the Bose 700 with the sub is the winner over the Arc and sub. I have two Sonos Play 5's in stereo mode in my house and also purchased two Sonos Move's connected in stereo mode. I do enjoy Sonos products. I have used Sonos Trueplay to setup the Sonos Arc and sub to my room. I have to say the Sonos sounds hollow, not warm, and a bit bright and tinny sounding. The jury is still out when listening to movies. I will not be buying the rear speakers and I am going to use the soundbar for my PC system. I have been using a Boston Acoustic BA7900 5.1 system since 2003 for my PC. Still works great I just wanted to clean up the all the wires.

      @@jg8273 With over a week of switching back between the Sonos and Bose systems, I am sticking with the Bose 700 and Bose 700 sub. I preferred the crisp clear highs of the Bose over the Sonos which sounded somewhat dull. I could add in treble and adjust the EQ curve to make the Sonos sound brighter for the vocals. I am adding the sound bar to my PC so I have the sound card software that allows for greater sound adjustment over the apps that come with the Sonos and Bose. I am not interested in ATMOS and will not be using the rear speakers so I was looking or listening at the sound quality of the sound bar and accompanying subwoofer. Another plus for the Bose is when playing music the sound is rich and alive and sounds better then the Sonos Arc SL to me. Another plus for Bose since I am connecting to dedicated sound card I am able to set the playback audio quality at 32 bit 96kHz. At first when connecting the Sonos Arc SL I was not receiving any sound, Sonos support tried to help me but only told me the Arc is not designed to be used with a PC but with a TV. Further research on my end and I adjusted the playback audio quality to 24 bit 48hKz and the Sonos started to work. Most people are not buying a sound bar to listen to high resolution music files. I have a dedicated AVR (Arcam AVR-850) when I want to listen to high resolution music files on Tidal.
      At the end of the day, both are good sound bars. I believe if you were to buy just one of the aforementioned sound bars and set it up you would be happy. I bought the Bose first but I needed to hear the Sonos Arc with all the great reviews. Hence the reason I purchased the Sonos since I have several Sonos products in the house. Every time I switched back to the Bose I immediately said that sounds good over the Sonos. I will be interested to see what your findings are when you compare both products.

    Hi, can you explain how the bose 700 is suppose to be 20cm deep, either you have very big hands while grabbing it in the video, ore some data is wrong, this is the official messurements from bose website for the 700 bar (5,72 cm H x 97,8 cm B x 19,8 cm D (4,76 kg). The 300 smart, and 500 bars are about 10cm. And just a thought about the weigt of bose 700 bar 4,7kg, vs. the sonos ARC wich is sbout 6-7kg for the bar and the arc is made mostly of plastic wich weighs less than metal and hardend glass wich the bose 700 is mostly made out of. The inturnals of the bose 700 bar cant weigh much if the most of the kg come from the all covering metal and top of that thick glass, any thoughts on that, I meen what kind of sound qvalite they have put in it vs. the ARC in plastic cover(?)... (Must be much heavier components inside the ARC?) (if Bose dosent have come up with some alien materials that out performes what we know of, or using kevlar or carbon fiber or something else very strong versus its weight...) (?) STill cant diside between 700 or ARC!! want BEST sound!!! for movies AND MUSIC to..! and can probably dont by any bass sub do to neighbours very close! Im a bit between a soundbar (700/ARC) or just sticking with the TV speakers and forgett about it.(strange to say that, but thats were Im at right now in my thoughts). Thanks for nice reivews do!!

    • @neverenoughtech
      @neverenoughtech  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I originally thought I got some measurements wrong in the video. I usually post measurements - managed to forget on this video. I’d trust the measurements/weight on the site. I do have big hands. I’m 7’ tall. The Bose SB does get a lot of its weight from the glass top for sure. I’m not sure if I can give you more advice between the two systems than I did in the video. Testing out a very different kind of option that is pretty satisfying and is less than a sonos/Bose module - certainly better than TV speakers. Maybe be on the lookout for that.

I could just put up a slide show of the manual or marketing material. I’ve dealt with a lot of soundbars this year and, as with anything, you develop preferences and pet peeves. And they impact the lens in which you view the next soundbar. Maybe you want me to be the RTIngs of TH-cam. While they are amongst the most objective reviewer, they don’t even really attempt to discuss overall experience (bugs - tendency to cutout - whether the bar reliably plays sound when you start a show-they don’t have a tear your hair out score) - so a fact sheet is woefully incomplete
      In the end the viewer needs to decide whether my judgment is useful or crap.
      But out of curiosity where am I ruining things with my bias (time stamps?) - genuinely curious.

      Overall, yes - like for one it less buggy - better ecosystem. I thought the Bose bar sound alone was better. And said that in the review
