Daniel Craig returns in his second performance as 007 and in a first for the Bond series in an actual sequel. I take a look at the 2008 James Bond film Quantum of Solace.
After the huge success of Casino Royale producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson didn't waste any time to get to work on the next Bond adventure. They had the enthusiasm of fans behind them, they had Craig set to return to the role, they hired Marc Forster to direct. The only thing missing was a script.
Problems would mount with the production. The final result would be a Bond film that would leave the majority of fans disappointed. It would be years later fans would learn more of the details, the difficulties and the impulsive decisions that went on behind the scenes of Quantum of Solace. Admittedly, I went a bit overboard with this project, but what the heck.
Initially this project was done several years ago and I wasn't able to post it on my TH-cam channel. After going back and doing some re-editing, cutting and tweaking of it to make it acceptable to TH-cam it's finally made its way to my channel - at least for now.

I really really enjoyed Quantum. I feel it is grossly underrated and far better than Skyfall and especially Spectre. But I'm not a classic bond fan. In fact I only got into Bond with Casino Royale so maybe that's why.

@@starlord6433 Where do I start? Skyfall tries to blend the gritty realistic elements of Casino with the "cheesy" elements of older bond films. And it doesn't work. As I said I am not a fan of the old cheesy bond. The entire opening of Skyfall is ridiculous with the crane and the train and... "VW Beetles... I think". It's all nonsense. The idea of an aging Bond out of practice is cool I'll admit that. The entire 3rd act of home alone bond is just lame and equally ridiculous as the opening. Silva is a good villain but mostly it's just Javier Bardem who is an excellent actor that elevates the character. I'd need to put more time to go more in depth with all the gripes I have with this film than I'm willing to right this minute though.
That's exactly why lol. Quantum is a decent revenge movie but it's a pretty terrible Bond film
Really good delve into the film. Interesting and funny. For all the valid criticism I still love this film!
One day we may get an explanation for the boat flip...
I have to ask is Forster a fan of Captain Planet and the Planeteers?
I didnt mind the song at all. Some of the other songs you mentioned are kind of a throwback to an older Bond era. I feel like the style should be kept, but adding new talent...just like they had been throughout the entire series. Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones, Duran Duran were all at the top of their game when they did title songs for Bond Movies. Oh and I prefer when they mention the movie title in the song!
Something interesting I noticed about QoS's car chase is that there's a short subtle freeze frame right before the music titles start. It kinda makes me think they didn't plan making that the title transition, and originally it was the gunbarrel like in the trailer and your video.
14:52 That's a great way to redo the beginning and incorporate the gun barrel Casino Royale style. I've been looking all over recently for the QoS review that mentioned this. I finally found it, and it was you who said it!

Absolutely agree with you on the title song. I haven't always loved the title songs of past Bond films but this one....!

I usually agree with you completely but I disagree on the opening car chase. I love this scene and feel it’s one of the best car chase / destruction scenes in cinema.
I agree. But I actually liked quantum of solace.
Haad Khan I like both Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace as well. I didn’t care much for Sky Fall or Spectre.
So glad i found these videos, you're making excellent work! Hope you will rip Spectre apart as well, that movie made me more angry than Die Another Day and Diamonds are Forever combined and these two were complete abominations.

Apparently they started recording with her but because of her personal problems they had to let her go.
It might've been decent. Listen to her cover of "A Song For You".
It's not great but it sounds very Bond-esque.
There are cool action sequences but the film has no flow or credible plot, it seems to have been written by a huge committee who were not communicating with each other...but Forster failed to make the film even a fraction as good as the previous film, he completely blew it.
I loved the theme song btw. I get you didn't and that film is subjective but I pretty feel the exact opposite of what you described in the video. To each their own I guess.
both Forever, and No Good About Goodbye are much better than Another Way to Die!
I don't know what you guys complain about, I really enjoyed the movie. Or maybe it's because I watch it during a very good period of time in my life.
The ridiculous car chase in the opening with all of the jump cuts, shaky-cam etc.; could it have been done for (dare we say it), THE ASIAN MARKET? (the truth that dares not speak it's name).
I was really into this. I watched the casino royale one before hand and enjoyed it, but when you started talking about the name of the artist who made QoS's theme song it brought into question everything you said.
A nicely put together hatchet job, even if you......do....employ that......really....annoying form of narration....where....you pause.....every so often.

From 9:48 - 11:37; NO ONE on this picture had the slightest idea of what was going on. From the "4 Elements" pretensions of the director to the babbling, incoherent moron playing the chief villain, this movie was a total cluster bomb which should never have been made!

If you'd put Goldeneye or better yet Licence to Kill at the top of your list I might have agreed with you but I can't look at DAD without noticing the really bad CGI.
