    Nice video but there were a few technical errors.
    1) The 2015 V6 does not have an open diff, all 2011+ Mustangs have a limited slip diff. In addition LSDs are better for handling, drag racing, and pretty much everything performance related. LSDs slip enough that they work well in the corners. You're thinking of something more like a spool which locks both axles together all of the time which is not good for handling.
    2) The 2015 V6 is not rated 5hp lower because of drivetrain loss. Drivetrain loss doesn't factor into factory power ratings. A large part of the reason for the lower power rating is probably the revised intake manifold for the lower hood, but I don't think Ford has confirmed this. If not that, it would be down to a lower state of tune for business reasons.
    3) A few extra differences are a different axle ratio in the 15 (3.15 I believe vs. 2.73 or 3.31 in the 11-14) and lower weight for the 11-14 largely due to the live axle. The rest of the performance difference in these cars is the small differences in power and the extra bit of drivetrain loss from the IRS as you mentioned.

    When I was looking, I drove a 2014 and a 2015, and I liked the looks of the 14 better. In my opinion, the radio and center looks better in the 2014. the the non-touch screen and and number pad are kinda useless. Also, for the 2015 V6 there's no premium version, so there are very little options. I bought a 2014 premium V6 convertible, and I really like it. The 2015 is nice, but there is more about the 2014 that I liked. It's my daily driver and winter car for when the weather won't cooperate to drive my other car. This is my first Mustang, and so far it's been a blast to drive. Great vid, thanks!!!

      yea Ford is aiming at fuel mileage on all their Cars and Trucks. thats the issue, their trying to keep people from spending alot of money on fuel which means we dont get as much horsepower. so the only other thing we could do it mod it and retune the ECU to get more performance.exhaust headers etc..but like the v8's are powerful... and they say it pushes out 435 Horsepower and its not true it does push up to about like 380 or a little less then that but however the v8 is were alot of people go for if their looking for performance from a mustang, but i got a 2016 mustang v6 and i love it it drives great, its fast and has a jump in torque. but i do know if you add a K&n drop in filter in it will increase the performance well and save on fuel if your not gunning it.

    Pretty accurate. I have thousands of miles +2015s (V6 & GT V8) and own a '14 convertible V6. I like them both, but prefer the pre-2014 simply because it feels a little lighter driving and is less aggressive looking. The +2015 has had to chase and cover the Camaro and Charger in the market. The difference is like between a '67 and a '70. Your preference. The only (minor) thing I don't like o the new version are the ridges down the hood (from the drivers seat).
    The newer are better handlers out of the box, but I put MPT tunes and Koni yellows and Continental Trucontacts on the '14 and it is transformed into a really great handler. It's significantly better than late models now, but you can (and should) do the same to any Mustang. A grin every time you touch the wheel. Both come with the same wonderful V6s and V8s. I do love the V6 (after the tune).
    Yes, '14s rental car plastic interior is worse, but the new one isn't THAT much better; an Audi it is not. Significantly, the retro seats in the '14 fit me better and I can cruise forever in them, which I do.
    The new axle is a bit of a disappointment. In washboard turns you can tell, but it isn't as great a difference as you might think (see Yellow Konis). The old solid was around so long because it worked well. It's not a factor in a V6 auto that isn't headed to the track.

      If you're upgrading brakes(smart), do invest in a one-piece driveshaft. Don't forget the tire pressure sensors because I neglected that detail when I got new wheels and that reminder is so irritating. Every time I turn the car on, it reminds me that there is a tire pressure alert.

    IMO:
    The first thing to do is to prepare for mods that will come later.
    1. Sct x4 tuner and performance tunes (I'm currently waiting for MPT performance email).
    2. Suspension (I'm going with adjustable coil over suspension @ raceland when I save enough).
    3. THEN whatever you want to add...come with your mods.. I've been informed to avoid the hype for CAI and 73mm TB no real bang for your buck. However real bang for your buck are things like previously mentioned tune, ported upper & lower intakes, headers/exhaust, differential gear swap like (depending on your mustangs purpose) recommend nothing less than 3.73 (manual) or more than 4.10 (automatic).. oh and additionally for racing an auto upgrading your torque converter.
    HOLD IT.. HE JUST COMPARED A MUSTANG TO A MIATA!?... 🤥😠

Also, that’s a very easy job to do yourself if you’re at all handy with tools. Make sure that your trans fluid and diff fluid are fresh. that is actually a lie. The way Ford said this is 5 hp less than the s197. On a dynometer they both score similarly when stock. However Ford accidentally made it stronger with s550. They had to create a new intake manifold for both the v6 and gt for 2015 because the hood sits lower than the s197. check out how much power a 2015-16 makes with just a cold air intake and a tune, it makes better power than the old one. But that does not necessarily make the s550 any faster because they also gained weight from the IRS.

    • @83FB7
      @83FB7 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ford redesigned the intake manifold to fit under the hood of S550, but they also made other changes to address the complaint of low end torque.

      Yes it is, for two reasons! The S550 V6 is 300 pounds heavier and it's also detuned so that the I-4 EcoBoost looks like a better option compared to the V6.

      I have to say, the S197 (05-14) definitely feels more "Mustang" than the S550 (15-18), in my opinion. If that's what you want, go with the S197 (05-14).

    please read up on the specs for the cars before reviewing, first, all 2015 mustangs have limited slip diff, so the 2015 v6 is NOT an open diff. you can refer to this media.ford.com/content/dam/fordmedia/North%20America/US/2015_Specs/2015_Mustang_Specs.pdf and i would also argue against an open diff being better in cornering rather than a limited slip, as you said an open diff "it can transfer the power to the correct wheel and give you optimal grip through a corner" this is false an open diff does not get to choose which wheel it send the power to, it sends power to the wheel with least resistance. so many times the wheel that needs the power is unable to get it because the opposite wheel is slipping. if you want to explain the cornering it would simply be the chassis and suspension upgrades from ford.

    • @GrahamCain
      @GrahamCain  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Bobby Lininger You are correct. Thank you for letting me know! I had read online at one point that the new car had an open diff but that is clearly not true. I added an annotation correcting my mistake. Thanks again for pointing it out! I definitely don't want to provide false information.
