The only critique of your electrical work I can suggest is to turn your wire strippers around so the flat side faces out specially with older wires with hard plastic. By using the diagonal side of the strippers to pull the outer plastic off you are putting pressure on the wires by forcing the plastic against the wires, this can also cause you to lose some strands of the wire. Turning the strippers around so the flat side is facing out takes the pressure off the outer casing of the wire, makes it a lot easier to remove and very rarely if ever takes strands of wire with it. Some people will say that this leaves an ugly diagonal cut of the plastic as opposed to a clean looking flat cut but the up side is the diagonal cut helps seal the wire from the elements and 99% of wires will either get some sort of covering and you will never see the ugly cut anyway. Another upside is that when you soldering wires that thin diagonally cut plastic will heat up and give a better seal where the solder runs down to the plastic. And for those that still don’t like the ugly cut of the diagonal side then do a initial cut with the flat side in and turn the strippers around so the flat side faces out to relieve pressure from the wires and make it easier to remove the plastic outer.
I have been wanting a cream puff enduro just like that one--they are rare as can be in Eastern WA. I am bad at troubleshooting electrics so I like learning as I watch your channel. I predict a clogged jet in the carb.
Nice job on soldering, done correctly. I've seen so many guys try to drop hot solder on a cold wire, they have no idea 😅 Another entertaining video from Jennies Garage.
Excellent video as always! Great job on the diagnosis and repair. I just had to add a comment, because my second dirt bike in life was a 1969 Suzuki Savage - very similar to Evan's bike, but mine was totally stripped down (except for a speedo). I was 15, and it was time to move on from my Honda 160. The Suzuki was a bit of a unicorn - the guy I bought it from had set up a twist grip on the left hand handlebar to activate the compression release (unlike the little short compression release levers that the bikes had in that era). I got used to it and just left it that way. Evan's appears to be in great shape. Thanks for posting! You guys are awesome! Congrats on the new house too!
Don't rely on the flux in the core of your solder alone. Like the man said, "Flux is Your Friend". Also, try not to use lead free. Lead, outside your body, is your friend, in solder.
That is so satisfying watching you successfully find that intermittent electrical problem. You and Camera Girl are the BEST!! 🧙♂🧙♀❤🙏 Happy Holloween! 🥧🏍🎃
My first real motorbike was a Suzuki 750 GSX from the early 1980's. It was a beautiful thing and ran like a dream too, but was traded in many years ago when I bought my first BMW in the GSA family. I am 60 next summer but still own and happily ride my curent BMW, which is one of the early partially liquid cooled R 1200 GSA's, so about 10 years old now but still looking and running as if it was brand new.
You have lots of eggs and lots of baskets. Use them all. As any good carburetor channel would. BTW I heard the Bearded Mechanic say he has rebuilt more motorcycle carbs than anyone on youtube. hmmm
Was thinking the same though I'm sure he was using rosin core solder. Took me a long time to understand solder joints need to be perfectly clean and the importance flux has on that cleanliness.
2vintage is very successful fixing old dirt bikes and atv's and putting the vids on YT. And he keeps everything so double score. You got mad skills, so...
I've owned/ worked on tons of older Japanese bikes, and they ALL have electrical issues.. but they are usually just loose/ corroded connections.. as much of a pain as it is, the best solution is to go thru ALL of them, one by one, clean, apply some dielectric grease and reassemble.. 80's Yamahas are particulary bad, or maybe I just have seen more, being a big Yamaha fan :)
tip: You really should use a bit of flux on your solder joints. It pulls solder into clean joints with less heat used and much less chance of getting a cold solder joint.
Your repair worked just fine so this isn't a critique more than it is an opportunity to discuss. When you fanned out the strands and wire wheeled them, I probably would have just cut further back and used a butt connector to splice in a small piece of new wire. It wouldn't have looked as clean as your repair, but it may have been electrically stronger. When you were first diagnosing it was looking like the light wasn't getting enough voltage. I'm worried the corrosion in the wire spells that something like this is still going on and/or will happen again in the future.
Trouble with having soldered connections on something that vibrates a lot is over time, said solder cracks and breaks loose, it's why they tend to crimp connections, they're less prone to such issues... :)
Awesome little bike, also like the RV 125 and RV 90's. Probably a bulp for the neutral light, or corrosion with that broken glass. Carb jet or air restrictions for the blogging?
Why aren't you charging people for repairs..and NO YT. Pay us crap..unless you have a few million subs or more then the tax situation gets interesting.
I looked at my 1970 Yamaha DT1 250 light switch funny and it slapped me right across the face with its mirror. "Wha' Choo Lookin' At!" It said. We became close after that, until I had to put it down. (Too bad. One went to auction recently and fetched a whopping $27,000).
The thing now for making money on TH-cam seems like sponsorships. Other automotive channels I watch get sponsorships from tool companies, oil companies, etc.
I could watch a 20 minute video of this guy trouble shooting a toaster
Very very nice camera lady.😊
You break the on/off switch off to stop you accidentally turning the lights off pointlessly going from main to dip! I had one of these in the 70s :-)
Kester 186 is a must have for soldering
Great job guyss...
Terrifically Superb - TS describe your channel...
My favourite TH-cam channel, always an entertaining educational watch keep it up
Good work Sir
Another solid video pretty slick 👍🏼
Still one of my favorite channels, always happy to see an upload from you two!

Thanks man. I will never look at my plentiful supply of wire strippers without considering this tip. Many a strand is on my shop floor!
Forever the best carburetor channel to exist.
I think thats a nice idea a repair shop no doubt if you build it people will come. Great video
That's some quick detective work Jake and Jennie! And that was just the right amount of complaining.... not to much, not too little.
hey all the way from sweden
Hej!! All the way from New England, USA! 😃👍
My brother had a Suzuki 400 with the same paint job.
That bike has clearly been taken care of.
Dang. It’s 2:30 am and I was planning to go to sleep and Jennie’s Garage drops a new episode.
A clean solder connection is a strong one!

Keep up the good work my friend!
So awesome to see a new Jennie’s garage. Been a long day here in my for sure . 5 inches of rain so far. Always love me some Jennies garage.
Y'all are awesome, and so is that brush you used! That bike is freakin' knarly man. I love it!
I just found your channel again after several years!!! Very exciting and I am now subscribed as I should have been!! Great content.
Awesome!!!

Before I watch, I'm saying ground or switch. Carb could be a little crud in the pilot or need a different needle position.

Loving the frequency! Thanks JG!
I always struggled with soldering. Then I started using flux. You need flux to solder, it is a serious gam changer.
You can buy Electrical solder, with flux/ rosin inside ;)
Love these vids! Funny, informative and weird at times!😅
love the channel just wish they are longer
Love you guys and your dialogue its fab!!Big love from Swansea Wales😊
Sometimes it’s the simple things like a loose connection 👍 good job

The Ofer still stands on my Yamaha 125, not asking for a new or restored condition just up and running from when it was put up and running.

I bet the water heater flue is triggering the HVAC crowd the last few videos. 🤭
I just starting watching your vids I love them I just got an old Kawasaki
My Favorite This Is Not A Carburetor Channel, Easy Fix. I Bet The Neutral Bulb Is Burned Out.
@Iseekoutthetruth Glad you like the videos Bat. Bad neutral bulb is the first thing that came to my mind too.

Adding customers repairs is a good idea, IMO.
cool video !
Very cool old suzuki 👍🏻

indeed
A wire section should be replaced as the corrosion has gone up the sleave.
@@wobblysauce Yeah, i'd agree.

Nice Weller PU81 I would guess not your off the shelf chinisium product. Gemanish goodness. Can't go wrong.

Love a new Jenny video
Longer video please
Hi Evan
my 72 yamaha 360 had that problem.i was always getting pullrd over for no taillight, until i learned how to solder
Good idea I would pay you!
Nice bike
First, love the Channel
Why aren't you charging people for repairs..and NO YT. Pay us crap..unless you have a few million subs or more then the tax situation gets interesting.
I spy a new air compressor? Told ya every shop needs one. I got one for about 20 bucks, fixed it and she still runs after years of use.

good one
Looks promising
Trying to understand how a brake/tail light might be an easy problem... 🤔
I have a 2000 honda cbr 600 f4 carbureted that I would pay to have you work on. Idk where yall are in the country but I am in eastern SD
Why you dont have a option for membership for your channel, i would like to support it
I was relieved that you didn't pull out a soldering GUN. IYKYK .... and you knew.
I do NOT know! I've never used one before. Please educate me.

You have to make a custom plate "Jennies Garage" to cover the real plate of your customer's bike, instead of using some rag
What do you use the spray and wash for?
Yessss!
Just to remind us this is not a CARB Channel
"Very nice", points camera at legs. I see what you did there, Jen.
how different are the 1970 and the 1974? I have inherited a yellow ts250 with 6k miles on it and wonna fit her running
Just curious, what is the tax rate on TH-cam videos and property tax in Cali now? Does it burn up the points leaving the power on?
Is the GT bmx bike for sale?
woho🎉
Can I come and stay with Jennies? I can make the tea 🇬🇧❤️

he looks stoned 🤣😂
Wow that guy loves playing to the camera. So weird
I think he was just alittle uncomfortable in front of a camera. I think the majority of people are when they're not used to it
Bigger the blob the better the job!
I not sure if this guys a friend of yours but I would be careful who you bring to your house. Meet somewhere neutral.
