I always find them super useful as cannon fodder while my pawns do most of the killing. Lining your killbox with them helps give raiders something else to do other than headshot and instantly kill my favorite pawn.
In older versions turrets also forced tunnelers to stop mining the walls, as their pathfinfing made so they think it's not worth it, and gone into traps. But I am not sure if it is still there.
Turrets are Broken! They are key for killboxes, - place them in the begining of your killbox and they will make raiders lineup one by one into your killbox (just hide them behind doors, not walls). I had used this tactic in my Current Sea Ice run when decided to build aa kill box on day 200ish
@@VenomSteak man its op in a drop raid happens it can hold them of till you send your forces or even with the right placement and turrets wipe them out before they have a chance to move
The only negative thing about a squirel is that if it cannot graze then it needs to be fed... So like a shelf with raw vegetable food should do the trick but it means you got to refill it as well as occasionally retrain it so it doesn't go wild. The turret needs to be powered. If it isn't powered this trick won't work. I guess it comes down to preference, what would you prefer your maintenance cost be Growing + Handling VS construction + Power + Components (when it breaks down)

Should've added, they're a great distraction. They really do save lives.
They also force collision, so the raiders line up politely
They're so good at everything except what they're supposed to do
Always a good day when the first thing I see is a Venom video! ❤
is there a mod that let us feed turrets with kibble to enhance their combat power
Good to have you back, stalh
I love your videos very short and informative, you really should do shorts your content is perf for it and its designed to get views.
I'm considering it, for sure. I've just had bad luck with shorts so far.
tur-ible
Fantastic video
More coming
Put a few behind a minefield and the raiders will spread out and blow themselves up instead of walking through single file.
That's a whole other video. Thank you.

Turrets are also the frontline for doomsday launcher and raiders will waste it to them.
Abosultely. Late game, they're really great for a little damage and cannon fodder.

killboxes are cool, but it feels just strange to actually use them, like some kind of cheatcode, eh
They're not necessary on normal difficulty, I use them on Losing is Fun because there's just no way we're taking on a 400 man raid in an open field.
cool
dont they help reroute breachers?
they are good for turning on Collison outside the killbox
Yep, they can pull people off the main breacher raid. Always better to split their forces and create mismatches, rather than take them all on at once.

I'm working on a new killbox (it's legitimately the best I've ever done) and I totally use this tactic. Works like a charm.
ture i usealy only have turrets in my base for droppods or other things hand have a kill box that kills most of my energy before reaching my colonists
Oh my God dude, how have I never thought of turrets IN my base 😳

@@jdestro3477 I really, really want to make turrets work. Maybe I will, someday
Im just saying, install CE and you will watch turrets go BTRRRRRRRRRR... on raiders until theres nothing else but corpses on the open field.
I would love to try that sometime
Strongest auto turret with AP-I 14 caliber ammo vs 10 centipedes.

Wouldn't a pet squirrel do just as good of a job to lure enemies? Plus if the squirrel dies, fuck him, just a rat with a fluffy tail.
Probably. But I love them too much, so turrets it is.
