      It would be interesting if just like the fuel tank gauge If they'd put a battery voltage guate like in many cars and trucks. I live in a desert and it's harsh on batteries so every once in a while your battery kicks the bucket. Would be cool if I could see the battery struggling to remain juiced before it leaves me stranded rather than it just coming out of the blue. Since these machines are so advanced and all it would be a nice addition. Plus in the winter if you don't tinder your battery you can see how it's doing when you're out riding less.

    Great job, Alex! I'm really enjoying your reviews and opinions more and more. You're refining your ability to quickly and accurately relay relevant information about the bike while riding and also comment on what you and/or the bike is doing at the time.

    Just an FYI - while you can't switch the main modes that control all the other modes of the bike you CAN adjust each individual mode on the fly (like traction, power, slip, etc.,..) while riding. The only thing that you can't individually change while in motion is the Automatic suspension modes. Totally agree with you that its a bummer not being able to change the main mode or the suspension on the fly. My guess it's a calibration thing it resets itself to when you are still.

    Thx Alex for a great review of a amazing MC that I have been bugging Yamaha to bring from Europe for many years, unfortunately at 70 yrs young it's a little late for me but I thought I'd shed some some light on the history and genius of Ohlins suspension. My first encounter took place on a test ride in the spring of '10 on preproduction Ducati Multistrada S that had electronic adjustable suspension that changed settings with selectable ride modes including rear preload while riding. I suffer from deteriorating disc and stenosis of the spine which 60 yrs of on/off road hasn't helped so the amazing bump response that Ohlins is famous for was immediately felt no matter what mode. I ended up purchasing an early production '10 Multistrada ST which turned out to be a customer "Beta" test unit that Ducati attempted to finalize over the next 2 years which was a love hate relationship with the bike for me but the Ohlins ESP was always the draw that keep me hooked after 46k miles numerous thousands of $$$ in repairs. When VW/Audi purchased Ducati in late '12 they brought Sachs "Sky Hook" to the revised 2nd gen Testastreta Multistrada which included real time semi active suspension that was shared with BMW Motorad. IMHO opinion this was/is inferior product to Ohlins suspension with regard to stiction and square edge (frost heave) bump response. At the time Ohlins had designed a production Semi Active control module for the '13 Multistrada from WSBK experience which was never incorporated by Ducati as they had opted for Sachs by then. Ducati never officially offered upgrd to owners but Ohlins did and it was a plug and play on the bike. Once upgrded the IMU controlled device varies damping to control the suspension to maintain optimum performance for the riding mode and riders riding style selected. I live near Angeles Crest Hwy also Hwy 39, GMR and have experienced track days at several So Cal locations and also own a '14 Pikes Peak Multistrada with DSS which does not offer the compliance and chassis control that my '10 does with Ohlins Semi Active Control IMHO. On a serious note I wish motorcycle reviewers would state how tall they are and then give an opinion about how they think the ride would be for a tall or short rider. And whether they think a tall or short rider would be comfortable on said motorcycle. No reviewers ever do that..... As I am 6' 6 something like that is very important to me.

    Love the review you did a really good job. In Virginia at my dealership they were selling 2023 for 16,800. Bike needs better brakes from all reviews I have watched, changing modes while riding would be great. I have a 2022 FJR1300 with ES and I can change most of the setup while riding. Wouldn’t live in that crazy state for all the tea in China lol mountains of NC,VA,TN is where it is at… just no ocean view only mountains :) planning on MT10 to add to my garage to ride when I want to ride more aggressive and FJR for two up and over night trips.

      Its amazing how much bang for the buck there is. If only my insurance company didn't want to charge me as much as the bike costs just to have it ensured for a two year period 🤣 I end up buying some old 1600cc vtwin because insurance is like 125 bucks a year. They want like 700 per month for me on these higher end sport bikes and is just not my prerogative haha. I don't have that kind of money

I will not ride out without a toolkit and flat-fix kit. 5) HATE that cyclops NOSE. Otherwise... beautiful bike.

    How much more fun, more satisfying, more worthwhile is this MT-10 from 0 to 100 mph, than the next class down, which cost 7 grand less? That's why these "supernakeds" aren't the most bang for the buck, they are deep into diminishing returns territory. Mostly the fun begins when all the speed laws are in the rearview mirror.

    for $4000 more, Yamaha dropped the ball by not upgrading the break calipers for the MT10 SP, if its your top of the line for that model put better breaks on the damn thing, this bike is WAY too fast for the crappy breaks it has on it (Yes even with Brembo pad replacements).

    Lane splitting is absurd. I have over 35+ years riding experience (as well as obviously car)and it is stupid, reckless, annoying creates more drama than it ever might reduce. I have been hit by the FN lane splitting MTHFKRS 3 FN times! I have witnessed it happen to countless other people. I have seen cars try to and have hit bikers that do that crap. I have seen people SHOOT at bikers that do that crap. Ride at your own risk, but lane splitting puts it at a whole different level of insanity. Shoulder passing should be legal everywhere for bikers. Like a passing lane or HOV lane. It can be done safely and does not affect the other drivers. Legal or not, every state I have been in, there are lane splitting MTHRFCKRS that don't respect anyone. It gives the idea a bad image. And if someone lane splits and gets killed over it, I have no sympathy. As a rider and driver, it is just not worth it. Riding is a privilege, not a right. And it is abused constantly. Forgive my Roman rant. But that is how I feel. 🤬

    • @TheAnnoyingBoss
      @TheAnnoyingBoss 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Riding is a right not a privilege so long as you don't abuse the right. Plus just because some idiots run into people's mirrors while they lane split doesn't mean lane splitting is bad. Cali legalized lane splitting because it reduces motorcycle involved fatalities from bikers getting smashed in-between crazy Cali drivers rear ending each other with bikers in-between. Same reason many places in Europe have it legal. It reduces road congestion because most bikes are faster than most cars so they split because at the red lights after they've split Infront of everyone they take off and aren't in anyone's way because they're slower. Its a safety thing, but like anything it can be abused dangerously just like driving in the road, which is also a right and not a privilege so long as you don't abuse the right. Everyone is allowed to learn to drive and get a driver's license, that's not a privilege. They can't just revoke your right to drive without legal reasoning because it's not a privilege. Its a right and you can lose any right if you abuse it. We have the right to bare arms but if you shoot up a school full of innocent children people start demanding the death Sentance, so just because we have these rights doesn't mean they can't be lost if you screw up. Everyone of legal age that learns how to drive can but if you get caught driving 150mph you can lose the right. Stop letting the few idiots control our brain causing you to lash out and irrationally hate lane splitting when it's literally saved tons of lives just in Cali alone. Lane splitting isn't legal where I live but I also live somewhere with low traffic compared to Cali so it's arguably not even nessessary where I live, at least not unless tons of people move in causing a bunch of more accidents putting motorcycles are a higher risk because then being involved in a rear end accident is far worse than being rear ended in a car or truck

      It is a fact that a lot of people recklessly Lane split where I live in Southern California. But it's such a luxury especially with getting to the front of traffic signals. I personally wouldn't live in a state where it's not legal. I can finally consider Arizona now that it's allowed. This is how I learn to ride in one of the things I love most if I have to get somewhere on the bike. That being said I try to be pretty damn cautious about it
