I love how with nearly all STG videos it is not really clear whether Sam is genuinely interested in reviewing the car, is on the hunt for some specialty coffee or snack, or just fancies a nice trip for himself. Anyway, it always makes for great viewing. Don't ever change, Sam!
Or making a living endorsing and therefore selling the products….
Yes this drivel is getting very close to being unwatchable @@Neil2022
@@Neil2022he’s an automotive journalist mate, he doesn’t always praise the cars he reviews, and he’s also the earl of Westmorland so even without this channel I strongly doubt he’d be homeless
@@dylanwakley2553 He's the nephew of the Earl of Westmorland, but I do get your point.
Please he’s no journalist
Carbon wheels on a RR Sport has got to be the most footballer thing I’ve ever seen..
Only danger of them getting damaged is on the kerb, when parking on the pavement outside school.
As Clarkson used to say, the Range Rooney 😅
You’d have to be nominated for some category of stupidity at the annual Darwin awards, if you ever spec’d a Land Rover with Carbon Wheels😂 what a frighteningly idiotic option for a car of this ilk. I thought Sam made a mistake when he said carbon wheels.
@CITRUS-- you'd win that stupid award in assuming that everyone uses a vehicle the same way - whether it be off-roading, piddling through the city, or picking up groceries.
@@Resist_Oppression no one needs carbon wheels on this thing unless you have money to burn…
As a Portuguese guy I love when my favorite car youtubers check our country! ❤
I loved your country. Best meal I've EVER eaten was a fabulous seafood platter I got in Albuifera.
I've paused this at 10:10 in because, I know I've commented a million times blabbering on about the same thing, the production quality of this content Sam is insane! I hear automotive TH-camrs/Content Creator's all the time saying 'I wish we had the production budgets like Top Gear' and 'I wish we had the equipment and tech that comes with TV money' but here Sam is yet again showing he doesn't need any of that to deliver parity with those big budget productions when it comes to cinematography and production quality. Incredible stuff and I really really hope this skill set and attention to detail are being put to good use beyond this channel. Well done again Sam 👏
You can see the respect he gets from the manufacturers for the production quality. I used to give out Land Rovers when I worked there - it makes a big difference.
Those drone shots! 😮😮
I genuinely love your videos Sam, especially the tenuous justifications for a road trip. Amazing
Thank you Sam, for visiting Portugal, once again.
Amazing footage, you are still the reference for car youtubers.
Next time you want Pastéis de Nata, I suggest visit the Pastéis de Belém, they are doing it since 1837, and that region is a good spot, for some of your amazing footage.
Love you, Sam, but it is a 635 hp high performance SUV... dwelling on the gas mileage just doesn't make sense. Whether it is this RR Sport, an Aston 707, Urus, etc... nobody expects good mileage from them. I don't expect good mileage from my AMG S63. But I do get what I did expect - amazing performance and comfort. The RR Sport delivers on both (it is my other car).
Love the upload as usual! Very scenic and edited to the max!!
Glad to see you in Portugal once again, welcome back Sam ;)
this makes me want to go to Portugal
STG + Portugal + RR + NATAS = 💯
Always a pleasure for us when you visit our country! Cheers Sam and comeback soon
Who would have guessed that a 600+hp 2,5 ton suv have bad fuel economy?
These svs are horrendous 8 or 9mpg in town. Its awful. And 17mpg on the motorway in 8th gear at 70mph cruising constantly on a long stretch. Its f*cking awful.
I got 25-30mpg from a V8 Dodge Charger across the States (NYC to LA), mostly not on interstates and a reasonable amount of spirited driving. That engine is built of pug iron, I'd expect more from a European vehicle.
who gives a fuck mate@@cephasmakuzva
Before very recently you'd expect 30mpg from a V8 - from f types to my own s class 5.5v8. It's something about all the modern emissions tech - 20 on a steady cruise is abysmal
As a Portuguese I love seeing this!
The best engine for a Range Rover is a 6 cylinder diesel engine. A lot of torx and has a nice fuel consumption
Ditching those awesome climate consol physical dials and volume knob and buttons was a terrible decision and interior downgrade...
Back to the finest - well done Sam - this is where you shine at set yourself aside from the other auto YTubers
The editing, photography and beauty of the cars that you share with us in your videos manage to communicate the passion for cars, congratulations and thank you for producing videos of cars, fantastic places and without forgetting a good coffee, you must try the coffee from my country Costa Rica is among the best in the world!
Comes with its own bodyguard
Isn’t that only standard equipment with the Costner Edition
Great video sam. This what you do Great. Travel blog / new car reviews.
I'm shook by the fact that Sam went all that way to Lisbon and didn't go to Pastéis de Belém! The OG of Natas!
You must go here next time Sam! Warm natas are served all day! By far the best nata
“Pasteis de Belém” and “Pasteis de Nata” are not the same thing
Sam it might have been cheaper quicker to get a Portuguese tart at your local Tesco or Morrison but the video would not have been as interesting and the Range Rover would have been stolen from the car park whilst you were in the Supermarket.
Keep up the videos.
5:27 it’s funny because here in South Africa, no one refuels their own car. We have fuel attendants everywhere, and they’re the friendliest people you’ll ever meet
How much do they earn?
@@miyahtallulahI have no idea but they’re service workers working for oil companies so there’s that
And worst paid!
Thank you for your honest reviews Sam. One of very few honest ones out there!! 👏🏼
Honesty would be telling you that the car is unavailable.😂
@@bb-iq6qw lol you believe that marketing ploy? 700 units at 170k . Who is forking out this kind of money for a sport sv + you can spec them online to your liking . They might have pre sold 250 max 😂
@@kongo55555this model was invitation only & 550 units . The "standard" SV isn't out until 2025 . Other engines are online but this SV is sold out .
@@kongo55555 They sold out last year. What you see now is just entertainment. Biden and England killed the high performance industry with their Electric car garbage ! Trump2024🇺🇸
Love seeing the Speedy back :)
Awesome video. Portugal next destination. BTW, I swapped out the springs in my Jaguar F-pace SVR with KWs; much, much nicer ride.
Mad car!! Definitely on the ‘if money was no object’ list!
I really like the production values in these videos. Very cinematic. Did make me want some cake though!
Always a pleasure to see you in my country!
What is the probability of having one of the best TH-camrs in the city of Amadora and not having noticed him and asking for a photo.
Continuation of excellent videos and showing the best that Portugal has to offer
Always the highlight of my Sunday
How do you always get a car parking space right outside these busy city places?
Your passion for exploring countries and cities in different cars is off the charts. One day I hope I’ll be lucky enough to drive through Europe, the United States and more in my dream cars
Great video!! Sam’s dad would have loved the support vehicle refueling his RR😂
3000 mile round trip from uk! Handy to be able to leave in Portugal!
SUNDAYS WITH SAM !! ☕️
Great Video, Portugal is a stunning country! £185k though is bonkers, would happily buy a previous gen SVR and have an AMG GTR on the side for real performance
It's not if you are rich. Go to Dubai and you will see loads of these. JLR doesn't only make for dear old (skint) Blighty.
@@miyahtallulah what relevance does this have to my comment, I said it’s not worth £185k not that the poor can’t afford. It’s a simple statement of the vehicle retail price compared to worth much better cars out there for the money was my point
Pity you didnt have time to visit Belem on your day road trip. The pastel de Nata there are equally delicious! As for the RR sport, great review too!
I love the food, trip, cars and your style type of videos
I think you will love brazil since portugal is just an extention of brazil in europe
Pastille de nata from Lidl in the UK are very authentic
Is the SV badging the new SVR now? Or will there be a proper SVR version later on?
Is it being held in Portugal because they can’t insure it in the UK?
Since you are a lot into coffee.... next time Range Rover invite you to the Algarve and you go the Lisbon for a pastel de nata, should check out in Chiado, Fabrica Cafe Roasters.
600km , omg that has to be the ultimate endurance test! I do 1400km trips 4 x a year in my 2016 Kia optima GT. Replaced tyres, and service it once a year @ Au $ 365. Still runs quiet and all electronics work. 600km is not a test!
I like how JLR included a support vehicle. They know their reliability, clearly.
🤣
There's always one. I saw a BMW SUV failing to start yesterday. All (expensive/complex) cars have reliability issues. I'd buy a horse and car if I were you!
@@miyahtallulah neither of my AMGs have broken down. My neighbour’s Range Rover got taken away on a flatbed this week. To be fair, his wife’s new shape defender is still going. Look, all cars can break down, but JLR cars just happen to break down more often, hence why they are at the bottom of independent reliability rankings around the world. No need to get upset about it. It’s not a personal attack on you. Yes, I do have cars and horses, thank you for the advice.
Arise TH-cam bot dweller!
I adore the new big body Range Rover enough to overlook the iconic 5.0 being gone, but something about the looks of the Sport just makes me long for the previous generation even more than I always used to. Comparing this Sport SV and the old SVR next to each other I can't help but think something went wrong (especially visually) and that makes the lack of the 5.0 harder to overlook. The big body Range was always the monolithic classy thing parked outside the stately estate and it's kept that atmosphere into the new generation, while the Sport which always belonged more in front of a modern house in the city and looked much 'sportier' than it's big brother seems to now be trying to be the big brother in spite of it's naming. The BMW V8 made it almost german sadly - big power and torque, but with little personality.
Mr Harry Metcalfe has opted for a long term diesel version and gets about 40mpg and plenty powerful enough ..the best compromise although RRP on a D350 Autobiography snicks into 6 figures … ah decisions decisions 😂
Pastel de Nata is a dessert. Not a dish, a delicacy.
Still Til This Day I Think ' Seen Through Glass ' Has To Be The Best Brand/Channel Names Ever
I really enjoyed the scenery and sunshine on a grey day in Surrey.
Better ride quality from the clever dampers but also a hell of a lot less unsprung mass because of the carbon wheels and brakes
Contrast Joe Achillies review of BMW X5 30d or the hybrid base Cayenne or BMW. Better LRJ option is Defender diesel if you need serious off road capability.
Hey Sam...The fuel mileage might suck but you know what they have on that vehicle? Window wipers and fluid. That's a gross windshield! How can you even see out it!?? @12:00
I get 30mph on a run in my jag svr downwind of coarse but i often get that on a steady run
Around town tho with a heavy right foot I get 17-18mpg I really don’t think for all that performance it’s bad at all from 5 litre supercharge engine and returned the same fuel as my m4 convertible
It’s crispy 🔥👌🏻 I will go there and taste those Pastéis de Nata
I thought you were heading into the trees there for a second Sam. Looks very capable car, but I simply couldn’t live with that MPG.
You can get insured and the cars are in the shop more than your driveway so?
My F Pace SVR does 28mpg on Motorway run 16mpg if driven briskly
Needs an Urban kit. Vossen wheels too. Pastel de Nata, (sic), Lidl. Hehe
In terms of fuel economy, more cars should have a system of shutting down certain cylinders when just cruising on the motorway, like changing a V8 in a 4 or 6 cylinder
I have car that shuts 4 cylinders and it is absolute rubbish.
I want to go back to Portugal now 😅 but I'll pick a more economical car... great video as always 😊
Better gas mileage than my AMG GLS63. But... I do have buttons. LOL
I’ve never thought this before but….im going to have to get a support vehicle to just follow and fill up for me!
Considering how much it will depreciate over the years, paying £180k is nuts
Don't forget the costs of insurance !
Cope harder poor
It's the cost of entry to the footballers WAG's life
why do people act like all cars dont depreciate?
Not if you're rich. JLR doesn't care about those who can't afford their cars. Nor should it.
15:00 min - you really need a RR Sport for these bumpy backroads!! 😁
For people in India, you can get it as Pasteis de Nata in Goa. Wholly recommended
No one’s going india 🤢😂
Love it! ❤ Your videos AND pastel de nata, BUT allways with cinnamon 😊 (the pastel ! 😂😂)
Why the heck is it so expensive? It's a range rover for gods sake not an Urus
Much cooler than Urus. But agree that it’s too much still.
I’m gonna need to know where you got the t-shirt !!
But can you get it insured...?
Not even on the JLR website apparently
JLR website tops out at 150k vehicles🤷🏼♂️
Of course you can. This is TH-cam. What do you expect?
I know you said the bumps were soaked up but you ( not the RR) were airbourne a lot Sam!!🤣🤣🤣🤣
20 MPG is not bad fuel economy for this class
The ultimate chavs car. Always on finance and parked outside a council house!
Just say you can’t afford one mate
Why do you care so much about how people pay for their cars🤷♂️ you are mad if you pay cash for a new car.
The sort of comment I'd expect from one ..
Na I'd say the price of this new one only people with money will drive this
I have a 2011 Nissan rogue 4clynder on highway I managed to do 14mpg is that bad for an mini suv
Definitely missing the lairiness!
Great video Sam, get Tony back on the channel we love him
THINK THEY SHOULD PRODUCE A HYBRID SPORT WITH THE SAME BODYKIT ,LOOKS AMAZING
Looks like you started in Vilamoura.
Where have big leather seats gone? It used to be you'd get a Chesterfield sofa as a seat in luxury cars. Now its all minimalist and supercar thin
Land Rover’s SV is like an M car or AMG. The normal model has cushy seats.
Anyone know what happened to project biposto??
Great video. If only our roads were 50% as well built and put together as Portuguese roads. ❤
Transfer case!! watch out lol mine's back at the dealer's 🤣I still love it though. let's gooo!!
I know the SV is bigger car, but I have the F Pace SVR and that will do nearly 30mpg (once just above!) on a long mostly-motorway run. It will of course also do nearly single digit mpg when having fun on the twisty bits. 😉
Anyway, let’s forget the car and get back to the cakes and coffee…
Amazing! It wasn’t nicked whilst you were buying the coffee. But, to be fair you were almost sitting on the bonnet!
why does it give mileage in Kilometers but fuel usage in MPG??????????
Love Portugal, but hate that awful flat paint on the Rover.
14:11 please clean the windscreen Sam, my OCD is in 'overdrive' !
2 different number plates?
What is it with you and coffee man? LOL
Pastor Maldonado probably the most irresponsible F1 driver in history😂😂
‘I’m probably butchering that “pronounciation”’. 😂
Come on Sam!
Do you ever miss your 4C?
Lovely.
He literraly said « the bumps don’t upset you » just after his bottom jumped off the seat because of a bump 😂
11,8 is great fuel economy for that car.
....and I thought we here in Oz were paying a lot for petrol....that 1.86 Euro's per litre converts to $Au 3.09 per litre....and we (in country Victoria) are paying around $Au 1.84 to $Au 1.99 per litre at the moment and $Au 1.96 to $Au 2.13 for premium. FFS....even diesel is cheaper than your petrol, at around $Au 2.10/l and as low as $Au 1.95/l. My 3l V6 turbo diesel C5 Citroen is sitting on 6.4l/100k's at the moment. Cheap!
So elegant
LHD, UK registered car?
God knows how much the insurance is for it got to be £10k in england
Average of 11L/100 km is very economical.......is like 13 british pounds per 100km
So to conclude, he really recommends buying one… or even more of those cakes.
