But when God is omniscient _and_ all powerful to the point that he knows what's gonna happen in the future, couldn't He change what's gonna happen in the future? This is one that I've always wondered about
Yes, I believe that God could change what's going to happen in the future. For all we know, he could already be doing that, but because we dont know the future, theres nothing we can do about it
Hey, to pray before a sporting event to ask for help from God to do your best is fine. When praying, just ask the Lord to give you strength and that through your performance you will give all the glory to God...in victory or defeat! God is our best supporter and I'm confident that He teaches us humility and a deeper need of Him through every challenge and trial in our life. Soli Deo Gloria :-)

People, make sure you are supporting Cliffe and his team in their ministries by liking this video and sharing it on your Facebook! Come on, I know you have a facebook account and all you have to do is click the little blue "F" button above... Don't make me bring out Scripture like 'I am not afraid of the Gospel' and stuff like that. What good is fb if you cant share valuable resources like this one. Its only a 5 min clip so it can be easily shared and watched and who knows who life it will touch
okay I pray to god a lot and I do have a relationship with god but is it okay for me to pray before my sporting events? I just pray that I can do my best and that the other guy/team do their best and that no one gets seriously injured
Jesus healed the sick. Jesus commanded us to lay hands on the sick. Faith demands the impossible. Jesus is the same yesterday today and forever. If He was a healer then, He is a healer now.
Praying helps to draw you closer to God! What would be of a relationship if there was no communication. Praying enriches your relationship with your creator
Samson prayed. Hannah prayed. They got their desires fulfilled. I earn less than my wife so she yells at me. I keep teaching myself carpentry so one day I will be able to provide myself.
it is okay I would say, but pray that you will bring God glory and honor, win or loose, because remember life is not about us, life is about God, the more life is about you the more angry and frustrated you get, the less life is about you but more about God you are free from life's problems.
How can u worship God? if u dont pray? not only pray but be thankful in ur prayers ...¨aand btw we dont have "free will" Only God have it! what we have is called "free chose" coz u see u all not able to do all u want for ex flying but u are really free and able to chose!!! for example ur actions or thoughts !!!! People Pray, on ur knees and make "sujjud" just like Jesus did ....just Like Muslims Do and u will understand why coz this is the best way of prayer..inshaAllah
Is there any credible evidence that prayer actually works?, I'd say not. We humans have a propensity for confirmation bias, we sometimes see connections that we take as answered prayer when in fact it was just coincidence. People are quick to accept something as answered prayer, and are just as quick to totally forget it if a prayer isn't answered. My whole take on prayer would change dramatically if God healed an amputee, and it was fully documented. Ask yourself why wont he heal amputees?. The problem is, with your Christian mindset, you are already thinking up what you see as legitimate reasons for him not to heal amputees, rather than looking at it logically.. ie: supernatural events do not occur.
+bonnie43uk "Is there any credible evidence that prayer actually works?" -----Prayer isn't a list of demands to make at God. God isn't a genie granting wishes. God can answer our requests or not. It isn't an automatic sort of thing. "People are quick to accept something as answered prayer, and are just as quick to totally forget it if a prayer isn't answered." ---Agreed. "My whole take on prayer would change dramatically if God healed an amputee, and it was fully documented. " ----Atheists like saying this, but I don't actually believe you. I am sure that you would continue to be skeptical even if there were a healed amputee. "Ask yourself why wont he heal amputees?." ----We have no idea why God does what He does, or doesn't do what He doesn't do. " supernatural events do not occur." ---What reason do you have to believe this?
+Justin Reid Hi Justin, thanks for your reply, I''ll be more than happy to answer your points as i see them. I am well aware that prayer isn't a case of demanding things like you'd ask a genie granting wishes. However, people pray all the time for any number of reasons, to heal sick family members, to feed starving children, to ask for help in times of despair, the list is endless. I stand by my claim that if an amputee was ever healed and their limb returned to normal, via the grace of prayer ( or by any other means come to that), I most certainly *would* change my stance on atheism. You say you don't believe me, What can I say that would make you believe me?. How about I donate $1000 to your local church if that ever happened, you have my word of honour ( or honor as you Americans say), should it ever occur. If you can think of any other ways in which my word would be taken as my bond I will happily accept. Of course, should it happen, and I still don't believe it, .. you can maybe take a screenshot of this post, and brand me a liar. My honesty is non negotiable. I will not sacrifice my honesty.. Regarding supernatural events, again, I would be happy to be proved wrong, if you know of any such magical event that could not be explained by natural means I will be more than happy to look at the evidence. You ask 'what reason do you have to believe this'?, ..years of interest in miracle claims etc, I'm certainly no expert in this field, but all the examples I've ever been given have been seriously lacking in credible evidence. Do you have any credible evidence Justin?, I'll be more than happy to hear what you've got.
bonnie43uk "You say you don't believe me, What can I say that would make you believe me?" ----Well, let me ask, do you take David Hume's position that there can never be enough evidence to justify a miracle? "Do you have any credible evidence Justin?, I'll be more than happy to hear what you've got." ----I am not interested in convincing you of particular miracles. I want to know if you hold materialism/naturalism to be true.
+Justin Reid Hi Justin, I just wrote you a longish reply, but it seems I have a glitch in my laptop and the whole reply has just disappeared, so I will try again, but give you a more concise reply. No, I don't agree with Hume's position, i take my position that I would be happy if I witnessed a true miracle ( something that defies the known laws of physics), the miracle of the healed amputee would be sufficient for me. Not sure what you mean by materialism, that can get pretty deep if you go into things like quantum mechanics, something which i know nothing about. Naturalism, yes, I believe in nature if that's what you mean. My original reply was a lot longer I'm afraid.
bonnie43uk "Not sure what you mean by materialism, that can get pretty deep if you go into things like quantum mechanics" -----By materialism, I mean the belief that only physical/material things exist. Don't ask me what I mean by "material", because I can't give a good definition. I am just hoping both understand what is mean by "material". "Naturalism, yes, I believe in nature if that's what you mean." ----Well, Naturalism usually means that there is only nature. I believe that nature exists, but I don't think it is true that nature is all that exists.
Seriously if this fictional god really listens to you please ask him to confront me and stop me from laughing at his cowardliness to face this nonbeliever..lmao.
Free will to choose between eternal torture or between living with an entitiy, who will put trillions of people through this torture aka multi-mass-murderer. Now you're free to choose...
There is no revealed scripture on the planet that states that God tortures anyone -- you just made that up. You cause your own suffering -- it is 100% your fault, and 100% your responsibility, not God's.
I'm happy to say that this is my pastor😊

hey i like what you need here by telling us what the topic is about

I earn less than my wife so she yells at me.
I keep teaching myself carpentry so one day I will be able to provide myself.
It's more convincing to spread love than to argue back to an atheist
He's not trying to "convince" anyone, he is speaking the truth from the bible in response to a question that someone asked him
