  • Program 0422 ................... - If God Is Loving... - Bad Thing Happen - Creation History ..............
    Recorded at Texas State University - October 2021.
    The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This is an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

    In regards to the first question, if God created us in heaven to begin with, we wouldn't be able to experience evil or be tempted by sin, so it would be a sort of "limited free will". It would be kind of like a king sheltering a princess in the castle her whole life, giving her all the spoils and riches and not letting her step out into the rest of the world and experience it (including potential suffering). On the other hand, when we have full free will on Earth and still fully choose to obey and be with God, ultimately joining Him in heaven, then He will know that we truly love Him and want to spend eternity with Him. He can't force us into heaven with Him against our will. It's not how true love works! Just thinking out loud here, any thoughts/feedback will be appreciated! God bless :)

      Agreed. I also think we as humans had the chance for heaven on earth, because when God created all He said it was good. We messed it up but He loved us enough to give us a way to still end up in heaven with Him.

      @JohnCashin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      That WOULD make sense accept for one logical inconsistency, according to your belief, God created the angels including Lucifer in Heaven and he didn't seem bothered about limiting their free will, and, in fact, Lucifer and a third of them must have STILL had a free enough free will in order for them to rebel against God, so I can't quite see how that really explains it but I appreciate the effort.

    I want to answer the woman who asks "For all the bad stuff that goes on, why can't God get rid of it" with a quote I once heard. I don't know if Cliffe will answer this way, cuz i paused it. However, I love this quote. The quote basically goes, "If you ask why God won't get rid of all the evil of the world, I will ask you what if he started with you?" I love that quote because We have all taken part in some form of evil at one point or another. If he takes away the evil, that includes you. He has promised to come remove the evil from the world one day, but that is the end of the world....

      Place of Torment
      Luke 16:23, in the parable of the rich man and Lazarus, describes Hell as a “place of torment.” The rich man in the story is in agony and begs for even a drop of water to cool his tongue. This parable provides one of the most detailed descriptions of the experience of Hell in the Bible. It emphasizes the physical and emotional suffering associated with Hell.

      Well, it brings up another point, and this is coming from a fellow Christian. Sure, God does not force you to be with Him. However, what is the alternative? Burning in hell for eternity. Do you consider that righteous judgment? If everyone was aware that choosing not to be with God would lead to eternal damnation, they would obviously choose to be with Him instead. Of course, this entire point is dependent on what hell is in the first place. Is hell simply living "apart from God", or is that reality accompanied with eternal suffering and pain?

      2. . Doubting God judgement meaning u have OBJECTIVELY Better Judgement to make (?), are you smarter/wiser/perfect in integrity/honesty/ lets make it faster ,

      @@williampowell2104 Think to yourself how bad would the world be if 99% of Good (Includes feelings & pleasures) and Good people were not in it that only leaves the Bad = Hell.
      Right now earth is a mix of Good & Bad Heaven & Hell, God is Good he is the source and standard of good the desire to be separate from God is to be separate from Good which only leaves bad and people might want to do bad but most do not want bad done to them, most want good they just want it on their terms (wanting to be/create their own God).
      Hell is Bad Quarantined most if they could would annihilate bad or wipe it out completely which is not caring (and removes free will), God allows Bad to exist but does not allow it to run rampant forever so that the only ones it hurts in eternity are those who choose it.
      Earth here & now is our time to choose do we want to be with Good (Heaven) or be with Bad (Hell) with God or without God? Most want good and if they seek honestly they will find it in Christ Jesus who is The Way The Truth & The Life.
      Most know about hell they just think it is a story that they don't need to take seriously which is their choice to make, they have more than enough information to take it seriously and even if they didn't this is where Pascal's Wager comes into play if you employ that and you're wrong you lose nothing and if you're right you gain Heaven, that is just being prudent.
      Eternal consequences Good or Bad Heaven or Hell means our choices have actual power and actually matter now and for eternity and it shows that God respects those choices and doesn't just annihilate or destroy us because we didn't choose what he desired for us to choose, God wanted everyone to be with him but some will choose not to be so there will be a place where they can go where God and his presence is at its least but his presence includes Good and with little Good you have Hell.
      Now ask yourself should God respect their choices and free will and allow Hell a place "without" God to exist for people who don't want to be with God = Just
      OR
      Should God ignore their choices essentially removing their free will and force them into heaven to do what he wants = Unjust
      God is Just and Eternal (outside of time), so God being Just means there must be consequences and God being Eternal means they're everlasting. Sin is a crime we commit against God and when you do anything to a Eternal being it becomes eternal to simplify let's say my crime against God is I slapped him that means a part of God for all eternity is being slapped by me every moment is the moment that slap happens so my crime happens every second of every day so my punishment must also be of every second of everyday and we have all sinned so we are all guilty of a crime against God this is why Jesus is our blessed hope he who lived a sinless life and took the sins of the world and suffered our punishment that we might be saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
      It seems counter intuitive but when you really break it down allowing Hell is more caring than bringing everyone into heaven, hope this helps - all praise and glory be to God Amen.

      @Chris Brown I assume Julius Caeser (there being 12 caesers). His military career spanned over 40yrs and political career over 30yrs. He was emporer for life of the largest empire of the age impacting in his time 100s of 1000s or maybe millions of people. Point is, there would be a ton of mentions for him everywhere.
      Contrast Christ. Active for about 3 years as a carpenter in a backwater colony. No political power and an impact in his time on maybe 10s of 1000s. How many writings apart from church communiques might there be in comparison. I assume much much less and so much harder to find anything existing. I presume you have seen josephus and tertullian mentions. Have you examined early 1st century church history or read writings of the early church fathers? Or even Luke/Acts... it is interesting to read how the Christian church came about. Note Paul's writings have been dated to 20-30yrs after Christ's death.

    • @peterberr3888
      @peterberr3888 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Chris Brown ".. if this man was so important as advertised"... my point is that His importance was not recognised during His life (even the apostles prior to pentacost doubted Him); it was a gradual build, and those He mainly operated among were generally not the educated class so would generally be unable to write and record..let alone create statues of Him. And those who could write (Jewish religious-political class) had an interest to suppress what they saw as a heretical cult challenge to their authority. Hence, it is understandable to me why recorded writings scarce and late. Perhaps given time, another Dead Sea scroll type of discovery might be made, which could provide additional independent evidence to support what is recorded in the New Testament.

    I can answer the guys question about being already in heaven and having free will. The answer is that once you meet god everything will make sense and you will feel complete.also, since all of the people in heaven that got saved because they decided to believe in god; all of the pain they went through(true loyalty) isn’t so they can get to heaven and say,”oh this is boring, ima going to go live whatever life I think is a better way to live”.they’re in heaven for a reason, they went through hell and back and decided that god was the best way and it was all thanks to his mercy that they even realized this. to get to god you need a lvl of maturity and understanding that only comes through pain and(acceptance).the key here being acceptance and giving in(to god)not giving up.

      Not sure that checks out. Just because Adam and Eve walked with God and still chose sin. Satan and his angels rebelled against God as well. I think it's kinda like he said, the people who go to heaven have actively chosen/responded to the call to be with God. Heaven and their eternity with God is what we are looking forward too.
      It seems like the people who reject God have no issue with the place of heaven. They have an issue with God ruling over them. By that I mean, they don't argue against heaven, just God and why they should have to follow him.
      Those types of people would probably make the same rebellious choice regardless of being born in heaven or not, maybe even knowing God as well.
      Last thing, I also think of how we as humans take our parents and what they tell us for granted. Good parents should always rule over their children, simply because they know better. That being said, children, take their parents and their advice for granted and love to test boundaries and it's usually not until we're older and on our own that we really start to see the wisdom of our parents. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of humanity was that way towards God as well if he had been created in heaven.

    I love listening to Cliffe, but before I let him answer this first man's question I paused it so I can answer it. That way I can see if he answers the same way as me lol. 1. He did kinda create us in heaven already, that was the garden of eden. However, he didn't create us to be robots and just be in heaven and worship him. He created us to love him and worship him freely. If someone worshipped you because it was their job, and then someone else worshipped you out of their own free will, you would definitely know which one was being genuine. This is why free will is crucial. However, only what is good and perfect can be in the presence of God. So, immidiately in the garden we screwed that up though. So what is the MOST LOVING thing God can do? Well, that's easy. Just allowing us to be in heaven with him as sinners? Nope, it goes against his nature. Instead, He knew from the moment he created us that we would not be able to have free will and be perfect at the same time. So he planned on coming to earth as a human, living with us, showing up how to be perfect, and then dying for us as a human so that we may have forgiveness. That is the most loving thing he can do. People now adays love to say "If God is so loving why does he send people to hell" But God doesn't just SEND people to hell. People CHOOSE Hell. As it says in Jeremiah "I place before you 2 choices, life and death. Choose life" People can spend their life choosing God and then spend eternity with God. Or they can spend their life rebelling against God and being separate from him, and they will spend eternity separate of him. You see, he also loves us so much that he won't force us to be in his presence. He doesn't force us to do so while we are alive on earth, and he definitely won't do so in the afterlife. OK, back to the video to hear what Cliffe says haha

Where we who were born in sin can choose to love God, even though it is against our nature. Where He (God) gets the glory for convensing a totally wretched creature to desire and love the light, Him. Consequences? First time I’ve seen a weak answer from him.
    The answer to question 2 is the impetus of question 1.
    God didn’t create us in Heaven because it would undermine our free will. Our inability to deny God’s existence in such a place would mean that our choice was never really a choice. If everyone could see God before them, how many would turn away? Far fewer, I imagine. Who, in the overwhelming and all-encompassing presence of the divine and almighty creator of the universe would dare to choose anything but to follow him?
    So, we are created in a separate space, where we cannot see God incarnate before us, where we can choose to believe He does not exist if we wish. He provided evidence, provocation and providence to the contrary, proof in logic to me that He does exist. But He preserves that free will.

      Hey billy, hope your doing ok. The thing with these conversations is that people with vastly different views aren't going to accept the other sides answer.. hence why I spend lots of time trying to get clarity on a particular persons answer... do you think if Cliffe asked one of those students a question about God, and the student answered him, that Cliffe would say "Ah, ok, .. thanks, now i know" ... no... Cliffe would come back at him and ask him various other questions, .. and vise versa. That's how these things go.. heh, I've watched hundreds of these things as I'm sure you have... we've both been coming here for years. People rarely change their minds in a space of a half hour discussion.... we chew these things over in our heads for years.. I think about Gods existence/non existence every day. Hi Billy. Which question was it and where did Cliffe answer it??
      I know it's a pain to have to look back and quote things etc but it's always best to be as exact as possible so people will know what you're talking about because just saying 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐄𝐗𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐋𝐘 𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐩. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐮𝐲 𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐧'𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐩 is a bit too woolly, I'm afraid.
      You need to give some detail in order to allow whoever it was a fair chance to either give a rebuttal to their apparent overlooking of the answer to their question in the clip or if you are right for them to just to say "OK, Billy fair cop, I missed that bit", if it was possibly me, I would be happy to say the latter once you give me the detail. The answer to this and all related questions (why does God allow evil, etc.) is very simple: free will. Because we are created in God's image and He exercised His free will in creating us, we in turn have free will to either accept His divine plan for our lives, or to reject this plan and to go our own way. The alternative is that He would have had to create us to simply follow His dictates robotically, and in such a case there would be no love involved in our relationship with Him. Indeed, a truly loving God would not place such constraints on our choices. Love and coercion cannot coexist.

  • @bmelikia
    @bmelikia 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    If God’s real, God saying basically “believe in me or suffer in hell” sure sounds like he’s still bribing/coercing people to choose him though, right? “Be my friend. . .or go to hell as the consequence of not wanting to be my friend”

    • @bmelikia
      @bmelikia 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Sym3iotic An eternity in hell though? Seems a little excessive, wouldn’t you agree? I have kids - and no matter how bad they get/behave - the length of time for their “punishment” is never “eternity”. And from a rational persons standpoint, simply not believing the story about Jesus Christ deserves an “eternity” in hell? Wow, crazy. . .

    • @ketojour
      @ketojour 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can understand your perspective on the matter but try to see the bigger picture. God will not punish people, He will punish evil. God is good and wants people to live in an eternity of goodness, peace and love with Him. Any rational person would love to live life without evil, strife, pain, sickness, etc. And that's exactly what God will accomplish with an eternal punishment of evil. Good and evil do not and cannot coexist in God's presence. Evil is illegal in heaven. It's not permitted in God's presence. That's why Adam and Eve were cast out of the garden of Eden after they sinned. That's why satan and his fellow disobedient angels were cast out of heaven.
      God loves people but not the evil they do, not the evil inside their heart, and not the pain and evil people endure in life. The Bible illustrates over and again that God has been warning and pleading with people to turn from their wicked ways, because the consequence of sin leads to destruction, to death. Abiding in Him brings the goodness in your life that He represents and wants you to have. Jesus instructed His disciples to spread the gospel to the whole world, because God wants all people in heaven. All who awaken to their own sin, who believe and accept that Jesus put the punishment of our sin on Himself (so that we can live in God's presence) will be in heaven.
      Those who hear the gospel but choose to live apart from God don't care about being in His presence; don't believe He is real nor the gospel; or don't believe He is all good. They want to live by their own standards and may not care for a relationship with Him. Many don't know and don't want to know that they are evil according to God's standards. They rather believe to be flawed but mostly good. Because God is all good, life outside of goodness is life in the presence of evil. A little bit of evil is still a presence of evil. Those that take offense to an eternity in hell don't necessarily want to go to heaven to be in God's presence, they just don't want to be in hell. They may believe God owes them a place in heaven because they believe they are good. Perhaps because of the things they have done or because they seem not so bad compared to others. They go by a standard of goodness set by people in this world, not by God. In many cases the world's standard is a perverted version of God's standard. Something different from what He intended.
      Jesus came to mend the relationship between God and people by dealing with the evil inside of us. Know that God is just; that evil will be punished; and that justice will be served. An eternity of evil riddance is appropriate to God.

      @@sterlingfallsproductions3930 I can't pretend to know the full purposes of God. But I do know that Jesus claims the purpose of all humans is 1) to love God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength, and 2) to love others as ourselves. You cannot love if you don't have free will.
      So if you're asking why God would allow us to do evil, I think that's a pretty solid answer: God allows us to have free will so that we can love Him and love others.

      But you cannot have love at all without a free will. And a free will also allows you to choose not to love. God did not give us sin. He gave us a free will, and we choose either to love Him or to sin.
      And yes, being all-knowing, God of course knew that humans would eventually choose to hate Him instead of love Him. That's what Adam and Eve chose.
      So the answer is yes, to both. Those are not conflicting assumptions.

    Father God almighty created mankind for his glory. A personal relationship with each of us is the goal. For the personal relationship to have meaning it must be by choice, freewill, chosen by each of us, unencumbered in any way. Those that reject the creator cannot fulfill God's goal, and are likely to spoil it for others. That is a very basic explanation why everyone will not go to be with father God our creator.
    Answer to the second question: once the relationship is established there will be no desire to betray it. Also, once the body is changed to incorruptible it will not be corruptible by evil, evil will be destroyed and again there will be no desire for it.

    Because our fate would be that of Satan and a 3rd of the angels that chose to be seperate from God
    We have been put in Limbo with the choice to either be with God or be separate from him.
    And I'm sure once in Heaven after this life you would have the option to leave .... but I can Garuntee after seeing the horrors that occur in "limbo" I would rather stay with God than go back to Earth or Hell
