    One thing, always break your fill bolt loose first. That way if it is stuck you still have gear oil in it.

    transmission fluid will always boil the first time you fil it, it has to build up temperature hardness to allow your transmission to maintain temperature during winter other wise driving at high speed while cold will blow it up

    Dear Austin, do you pump your gas pedal when starting the bus? if you got carburators you must pump 1 time dowm en when starting just hold the pedal a bit down while NOT pumping.
    Also you need to check you iginition my friend, i think your timingis way off or your battery is almost gone. also changing the points wil improve your starting problems. using startpilot cans is NOT a solution... you must overhaul the engine a bit to garanté the your enginelifetime will improve. i dont know what youve already done but i should change: sparkplug, contactpoints, set timing, change cables to be safe of fire, change all fuel lines and clambs, clean airfilter(s), change engine oil and sump, set ignition right, cleanout the cooling tinware and fit all new exhaust seals to improve enginelifetime, cooling, preformance, noise. and get a greasepump on your frontbeam, clean your wheelbearings and regrease them and adjust them. checkout my chanel for some igintion and timing tips. i hope your bus is getting cared how it needs. Great adventure and learning experiance for your , see ya, grtz from Belgium

      +daalhoffarm I do pump it but maybe I pump too much, I'll try how you described next time. And thank you for all the advice!! I definitely need to tune and adjust the engine, as well as replacing a few things. Thanks again :-)

    get a piece of chain link fence pipe for a cheater bar....I spent less than $5.00 for one and had to cut it down. I use it all the time for leverage. Works great!

    My 1600 Beetle Trike has been leaking a few drops of oil here and there and it seems to have stopped.
    The trouble is, that I only realised tofay that its the tranny oil and not the engine oil.
    So it seems that for the last few days I might have had no oil in the transmission.
    Oh hell no!
    Snag is that I am disabled and cannot get underneath the bloody thing and so I dont know how the hell I will be able to sort it out?

    80/90?

  • @danstaszko8039

    do you daily drive this? if you do you should stop lol id suggest cleaning the engine and fixing the major issues like the timing,clean the carb, new fluid lines, the motor is stupidly easy to take out id use a car jack to get the motor out take it apart clean it out and dont be afriad of not know where to start to start with take bolts off and take pictures of everything you remove then you can look back at it.

    • @AustinLeonardAutomotive
      @AustinLeonardAutomotive  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope I only drive it around once a week at most. I'd like to pull the engine out at some point to address everything, I just don't have the time or space to do that right now. Maybe in a video in the (hopefully near) future!
