    VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
    Halle started her nomadic lifestyle on a three-month road trip in a Kia Soul. After going to a meetup event, she realized that van life was meant for her and quickly dove into the tiny home on wheels movement. A Sprinter later and another rig, she's landed herself in this 1985 Volkswagen Vanagon.
    She expresses that downsizing from a Sprinter van into a converted Westfalia took some transitioning as storage and living space are much smaller. Although there is less square footage, she still has a couch that converts into a bed, a swivel table, and overhead storage for excess items. She didn't have to leave any outdoor gear behind as it's strapped to the top where suitcases are typically stored.

    if you are alone, you can gain space by canceling places to sit or sleep (for example, sleep upstairs and make a proper wardrobe downstairs). it is also possible to make the side lockers higher. make a locker instead of the passenger's seat. put a box on the roof. a carrier with a box on the back lid. original gas tank suspended, as well as independent heating. if you don't have syncro, still use its type of tank for another liquid. bathtub in the front on the roof can also be used in all kinds of ways. and a "solar" shower is also popular, using a dark-colored waste pipe hung on the side of the roof.
    vw is a good puzzle, just use it correctly. ps you can also put the light above the sink.

      My first road trip was in 1967. I slept for 8 hours strait (I was 1 lol) and from then on out, my Mother would plop me in the car when I wasn't having anything to do with bedtime. lol But, it opened up my eyes at an early age...Very Early, that when I got older I wanted to travel. So after joining the Navy, instead of hopping on a flight to my next location I'd load up the car or truck and off I went. Managed to travel the lower 48 less 5 states by the time I was 24. So, I'm one of those "back in the day" travelers and I too laughed.

      What's really great is that anything that's that age or older can be worked on by almost any handyman and there's no sophisticated computers involved and usually you could find a donor chassis not far from wherever you are. Even if you need to rig something in an emergency to get out of the way or get somewhere you're not going to ruin every other circuit diode and wire and Part😁
      People can't say that today about the new stuff and all these Mercedes and Sprinter vans have not been on the road for more than 20 years if that... and somebody somewhere will always have some gasoline... they stop building older vehicles the same because they lasted too long😊

    • @artsomniacv-logcitybydanie1249
      @artsomniacv-logcitybydanie1249 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      .... even if you had to.. on this type of an engine you could use a piece of thin metal or maybe even cardboard as a head gasket to get to a safe place. Some of the newer-style bolts don't even go back in once you take them out... older cars you can use over and over until they break for good and it's too easy for something simple in a newer style vehicle to leave a person stranded and at the mercy of a price gouger or hater or whatever mechanic is available in certain circumstances and people need to think about this before they travel out into the Wilderness or the unknown areas. There are shopping plazas and auto parts stores almost anywhere but there's still a lot of distant areas in between where no cell phone reception also happens so this really should be taken into consideration..?... if you don't have a secure Financial platform and somebody on the outside that could help you in need....

      @@diamoradiaz4287 a Volkswagen is a subpar vehicle for any kind of long-distance travel or Adventure because it's air-cooled most of the time and it will get you stuck because even though they have power in Gering it is not like American stuff that is made strong with good iron steel and metals.
      It is definitely true that our technology has been dissected and used by other nations and German engineering is by far one of the top harmonious and performing Technologies in our world to my opinion..... but they do add a little extra sophistication which causes problems can sometimes the work of a blacksmith is far more Superior than that of a designer or artist when it comes to making durable parts for General everyday use..... older American Vehicles were pretty much all made to last so it's not as much of a gamble when choosing a model if it fits your criteria and needs.
      If it wasn't for being air-cooled I would say that it's definitely a vehicle that will hold up if someone is not over weighted with tile and substrates and driven at the top of its power range....
      I do see them around not as much as American vehicles that would be good donors but they can be found used with the parts... just a little more difficult.
      I was using voice to text and I answered the question with all aspects I could think of because it's a decision that will either allow you to live your life gracefully or be stuck at the mercy of frustration and Desperation.
      All the best to you in your endeavors🗽🌿

      @artsomniacv-logcitybydanie1249 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@diamoradiaz4287 I will give you a perspective that specialty shops often have special prices because they give special attention.
      I will also say that in being very observant in your own travels you start to notice certain things over and over and one of the things I notice is cars in people's yards and in general so I see them and I always look at it as you should be able to approach that person with tact and safety and respect and kindness or try to contact them and see about getting the part where vehicle off of it if it's not being used. Sometimes you might be surprised on the result decent level human interaction :)
      If you are not handy with tools, you must want to have another hobby also to know about your vehicle because if not everybody is used to seeing them are working on them you may have to guide them to fix your own stuff. This is not always a problem if somebody else has a garage or knowledge and tools as well but when you travel on the road you should have knowledge anyway unless you have a fat bank account.
      Those types of Vans I would say the most you can carry as a recreational vehicle would be a very small motorcycle or scooter, and every battery you put and every plywood brace or tile countertop you put you're going to stress out that little tiny technology that's more like the skeleton of birds rather than an American car with the skeleton of an ox.
      .... so if all you need is some surfboards and your iPod hacky sack fishing pole and other stuff like that outside of your necessities and you're willing to take on that Persona of knowledge then it could work for you and be unique and other people's fears are ridiculous because there are people with 3D printers today and if you really really need something it just takes a little networking and a little cash and a little time.
      Phew.
      ... I respect when people ask me questions about certain things and I want to be full with my answers because it is an opportunity where you will decide to trust my advice or not... like a credit system in the universe.
      I hope I have helped🐝

    She thinks '85 was the start of the "countries first road trips"! (At approx 11 min. mark.) Wow! Funny yet incredibly unaware of the long, long history of cross country travel. Wow.

    Did I miss the bathroom? Laundry? I’m sorry, but for me, I’m not buying into this girl’s lifestyle. Cumbersome arrangement in a small, cramped van with a large dog, and questionable income potential. If she wants to live in a van for the rest of her life, then more power to her. But, the continued “adventure” stuff is a little hollow, especially after she has already travelled 48 states. If she were older and retired, I could understand more fully the search for adventure. But she risks limiting her life choices living in this way.

    Solo female......yawn.
    😳😶
    This is making me feel sorry for the female population not with sadness but because it's just like the black or Jewish population was racism or the Holocaust in this context.... you're helping the woman who are real and actually have cervixes and wombs in Community grow, but it does feel a little tasteless to keep reading that title of 'Solo....'
    It's cheap

      @@gwendolynn7314 that's a nice way of ending your comment I respect you and I appreciate that.
      Hypothetically if a black person goes into a store for the white people or a long haired guy like me it's always looked at like we're going to steal something, I could say safely that for most men who watch this will feel CD because it says solo and they probably will be or have gotten accused of being a stalker or obsessive at one point in time in life because of the mental strategy that women have to use to protect themself outside of letting transgenders run races against them and beat them when they have no woomer cervix😳
      It's all about the content but it's like a little bit of bird poop on some Fair ladies laced and feathered hat.... it's because of her older generation that she needs to stay 'solo'..... so that is understandable but it's no different than somebody making a Facebook post or video saying they're going on vacation for a month and they're leaving their valuables in their home, no?

      @@jenniferkeating517 so I'm focusing on the irresponsibility and ego that goes with stating 'solo'.... and you want to call me strange.:)
      That's okay.
      I don't think it's strange to acknowledge that there are ugly and bad people in the world that are also predators, and I don't think it's strange to acknowledge that women have been oppressed in the past but not in these times..... so the idea for 'solo' to be used is delivered by someone who had suffered oppression in earlier stages and Times of life and the world.
      I will take Anna guess and assume that you are young... not to see these things. You are proof that degradation through chauvinism as well as danger of becoming prey does not exist....perhapse.
