    I've used some of these and seen toxic people explode in rage. They come unglued by sensible talk and tone because toxic people are infants inside.

    I learned the “broken record” trick from you last year and WOW it’s so impactful.
    People will ask you the same question 6 times in a row, then have the audacity to ask why you keep repeating the same answer 😂
    “because you keep asking the same question” *mic drop*

    This is so timely for me. under attacked right now by some people unscrupulous behaviour, trying to get me to respond to their demands to put me in financial strife. I need more time to think about how to respond. It is getting them hot under the collar with more threatening behaviour.

    About 1 out of 5 of these phrases would work in England. We only use indirect speech anything else is considered aggressive and rude. For example of your boss doesn't agree with your idea: " That's an interesting point of view, however I think you should try this... " Which means if you have a direct speaking style especially in terms of culture this can be difficult to grapple with.

    • @TheWizardOfWords
      @TheWizardOfWords  20 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      Thanks for pointing that out. Unfortunately no tactic works in all cultures, and it is my hope that people can generally adapt tactics to their own culture and also to their own personal style and way of speaking.

    While your circle of people may shrink as a result of empowering and advocating for yourself, whether that be at work, family or social life… the folks who engaged in telling you what to do, how to do it , when to do it, why to do it and then inform you of how you managed to do it completely incompetently… you now know, who you don’t have a reciprocating relationship with. Non violent and good communication allows us all to stay safer mentally and physically. You do you … let them do them. Great video 😊

    i wonder what do you do when you have stalkers who simply ignore all the communication tactics youve tried? i tried when you do this, i feel, because ... and it doesnt work. I tried threatening them with reporting them to authorities. I tried asking why they are doing this because im obviously not interested and why they act like they are stupid and not understanding, nothing works. I had to change my daily routine hours so that i can stop meeting them (there are several men, not one) and it frustrates me. They are slimy, always smiling with a fake grin when i confront them, like they enjoy it. Yuck. What would shut them down completely? As a woman i cant fight them physically though i would if i could.

    I love all of your suggestions, except the one about offering to do something instead of throwing our cash to a coworker's brain child. Isn't our time our most valuable asset? Opening that door to most coworkers is just enabling them to take advantage and they love that btw.

    • @TheWizardOfWords
      @TheWizardOfWords  20 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      I agree @adriannam2157 that sometimes you just say NO. I agree so much that I devoted a short video to telling people how to do that effectively, removing argument :). Essentially it is "that may be but . . . I simply can't." No arguing, no discussing--just the BROKEN RECORD :)

  • @twinningtwins4721
    @twinningtwins4721 13 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

    😂😂 lol these responses are great and perfectly reasonable. But please remember in the workplace you're dealing with people who cannot be reasoned with.
    The people who require this kind or communication are already brain dead egomaniacs. The audacity of you speaking to them with such calm directness and clarity is usually a blow to their huge ego, because you will end up looking like the calm level-headed professional that you are, and they'll be left looking like they're unfit for purpose.
    Just be aware of the waters you'll be treading in when taking a reasoned approach to these nutcases in the workplace 😂😂😂.

    • @TheWizardOfWords
      @TheWizardOfWords  13 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      While I agree with much of what you say, @twinningtwins4721, I think it is important to protect your boundaries regardless of the reaction of people with whom you cannot reason :). As always, it is about YOU and not them. Too much focus on reaction or even retaliation causes people to kneel and kiss the ring--and you don't want to do that.
