    Maps your entire floor plan then allows you to divide it up into various rooms🌼 and then tell Roomba to only clean one of them. Also allows you to exclude portions of rooms that you don't want it to go. Amazing

    So far so good with this vacuum. th-cam.com/users/postUgkx8ISPQRRAfpAaX4msGjyodObTBnlj4T5g I was a little concerned to find it seems to be all plastic, but the reviews were good, so I'm hoping for the best. Very easy to assemble Recommened, and only attachments I've used so far work well, and are easy to use. Doing a good job on the new carpet in my bedrooms and stairs. Works well on the hardwood on my main floor too. Reasonable weight and cord length. I already knew from an earlier review that it wouldn't fit under furniture, but I can use my Eufy for that, so no problem - the high traffic areas that need a stronger suction was really what I bought this for. If it continues as it's started, it will be a good buy and well worth the money. I have had two Shark Rocket stick vacs in the past that are super easy to use, but the motors just don't last well, even with scrupulous cleaning of the filters. I'm hoping for better with this Bissell.

    I love it. While I do have mostly hard floors, I run the S9+ every other day for 2 1/2 months. However, I do have some rooms with carpeting (1/2” pile) and the S9+ works great there also. While the side brush is ineffective in the carpeted rooms, the strong suction really pulls out the dirt.

      Totally agree. My s9+ works great on hardwood floor and amazing on carpet. Just like you, my home has mostly hardwood floors, and not much carpet, so I don’t have to deal with the weak side brush. And also I have had mine since Christmas in 2019. Do you agree he shouldn’t return it?

    Regarding the thick bathtub/shower mats, I just got mine (May 2021) the s9+ Roomba. And I have a floor mat in front of my kitchen sink - on a vinyl floor. I watch it broach the mat and when it stopped it, I witnessed it “RAISE” itself up! Like a city bus on hydraulic suspension! I was extremely happy to see that. However, I admit, it’s just a thin rubber-backed mat. It’s nothing thick like your bath mats. So I will have to check that. As for the noise, yes, I have slate and as mentioned, vinyl. It’s loud, but I have to consider, if I were using my full upright vacuum, it would be as loud or louder. And I would be the one doing the work. So I’m going to let the noise slide - cause that’s just what a vacuum does.

    Well, I got my S9+ off of Mercari and the brush unit was broken in shipping, and I had to buy a new one. Works great. It is louder, yes, but it's because it's closer to the ground and it's back wheel isn't on the front like all the previous generations.

    Apart from the price I suspect that every single one of your issues might be down to the s9 design riding too low. It seems pretty certain that the carpet and bath mat issues are down to that but also the noise on hard floor might well be because the rollers have a lot of contact with the floor instead of just the very tips of the rubber fins brushing against the floor and even the side brush on the carpet issue looks to me as if that side brush isn't happy being pushed hard down onto the carpet whereas if it rode just a bit higher it would spin and brush better.
    Anyway, thanks for a really helpful video. I'm sticking with my i7 for now and my next upgrade will either be if/when iRobot fix the s9+ issues in a newer model or I find a lidar self-emptier that looks good, maybe the M7 Pro that you have on the way or else something from Roborock if they ever release a model with a self-emptying bin.

  • @user-ph1qr9yl6h
    @user-ph1qr9yl6h 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

    You were 100% right. The only thing I don't agree with is the noise. But not because it isn't loud, but more because I don't care if my robots are loud as long as they are doing a good job. A lot of times back then, and even now, you would have to sacrifice cleaning ability for noise reduction.
    I love my new Dreame x40 Ultra. Wish they had it back then when I bought this thing.
    But, I still have both the s9 and my older i7 running around, simply because they still pick up dirt and the bags are filling up. So I run them all daily to keep my house clean.

    Interesting... of all the problems yours is displaying, ours only has 1, which is what I agree on with you. For the rest, I would say yours was defective. Ours works perfectly well and quietly, except when it kicks in super power when it needs to. It sounds like an airplane getting ready to take off, but that’s not those crazy noises yours makes.
    I have to agree with you on the side brush becoming useless on carpets. Our home is
    50% carpeted and 50% hard surfaces. The side brush barely lasted a month. The replacement, same thing, barely lasted a month and they both end up bristleless. I would say the way it crumples up the bristles on carpet is the reason why it gets destroyed so fast. It never stops spinning like on other roomba models.

    Have both i7 and s9 myself (3 months). The i7 works flawlessly while s9 is plagued with issues. I'm on my second unit (first replaced) and waiting for a return call from iRobot to probably get a third unit.I have zero confidence in the longevity of this unit. As well, I'm getting the impression that iRobot is putting needless delays between solving issues. Perhaps or perhaps not to wait out customer warranty claims. Regardless, the delay benefits iRobot.

    Have a feeling that those big chunks of cereal may have hurt the rollers, these things are amazing but they aren't tanks lol I have one strictly for bedroom carpet cleaning and it works amazing, never bumps into walls as hard as yours did, i see it slow down right before getting close to objects. I've had mine for a month and run it 2 to 3 times a week for 45 mins sessions all on carpet. I agree the side brush is useless on carpet. Since it comes with a spare I may just cut down the bristles on one as I mainly run it on carpet. Overall i am pretty impressed with it. Got mine off kijiji for 800 without the self emptier tank.

      I just watched a high-tech vac technician/mechanical engineer level review comparing the iRobot Roomba s9+, the i7, and the Shark AI xxxx (don’t recall the model but it’s the self-emptying model). Apparently the Shark AI has even more suction than the s9+ and half the price and the side-sweeping brushes are on both corners and only have like three brushes per wheel. However, I’m going to stick with my s9+ for now.

    I have an older model Neato and I had been considering buying this, but I'm glad I didn't now. Noise doesn't bother me that much since I normally start my vacuum as I'm leaving for work, but the issues with mats and carpeting is a big "no" to me. My Neato doesn't have any issues with mounting my bath mats and area rugs. That brown carpeting was fairly thick, but not enough that a robot vacuum should bog down in it. Also didn't like how hard it was ramming into things.

  • @laethe230

    You have to acknowledge that the issue with the thinner bath mat is that it is too thin. It folds up on itself at the slightest touch, not the robots fault. Get a more substantial bath mat and it would be fine. You know this because it was able to get up on the thicker on, and it's slower on the carpet because the suction is increased.

    Let me preface this review by saying, when this robot works, it’s pretty dang good….. however, it doesn’t work for very long. Let me start at the beginning. I purchased this unit after an extensive few months of research. I could have bought any robot I wanted, but I settled on this robot based on all the reviews. I purchased it in Oct of 2020 and by January 2021, it was throwing errors and would not clean anything. Support was great, I called them up, I told them the issues, they sent me a new unit. The replacement unit seemed to work well for about ten months of being used maybe once a week. Around the beginning of December 2021 I was watching the unit clean my bedroom when all of the sudden it stopped and the red error light came on. No problem I thought, I’ll just put it back on the base since it was pretty much done in that room anyway. I put it on the base, but I could not clear the error. I removed the battery, did a factory reset, but the unit was stuck in an endless boot up loop with a spinning white light. I’ve not had the replacement unit for a year so I create a support ticket to see if they could help me out. After a long delay (despite the policy of responding within a day) I got a response about a week later with some troubleshooting tips. With it not being my first rodeo with these sorts of things, I had already tried to clear the error myself looking through numerous posts. Ultimately, I was asked to send my receipt, a video of myself pushing the clean button, and my address and phone number. After I did this, the ticket was escalated and I was told that there was nothing that could be done. The unit was out of warranty (the replacement unit was less than a year old) and they could not fix it nor replace it. So essentially, I have an $1100 dollar paper weight.
    Like everyone else who does their research, I had seen the negative reviews about the reliability of this unit. I decided to take the chance and assume that these negative reviews were the exception. After my experience with the robot, searching through all the Reddit posts and support forums, I’ve come to the realization that this robot is simply not reliable enough for the money people are paying for it. I buy high end tools all the time and when I pay upwards of $1000 for a tool, I expect to that tool to last a long time. This is not such a tool. In my estimation and my experience with it, I believe the fault lies in some sort of programming flaw. The hardware itself is amazing, very well made, but all the hiccups that I’ve noticed with this thing seem to revolve around what appears to be some sort of half baked OS. I could be complete wrong about that, but I’ve been in IT for twenty years so I’ve seen similar issues with computers. Overall it has just been an extremely disappointing experience with this robot and at the end, the customer service response just kinda solidified the idea for me that iRobot knows this device is unreliable. They are damaging their reputation in the industry and I think they will eventually realize this mistake when people chose other robots over their’s for increased reliability. Had I know this was going to be such an unreliable robot, I would have sacrificed features and power for reliability. Would have saved myself money too.
    Save yourself the headache I’ve had, look at other units, I would not recommend this unit to anyone.

      No need to adjust it. It dials itself down when it figures out it’s on a mat! (This is the s9+ we’re speaking about). No need - it self adjusts just as it does from hard floor to carpet. That’s why it costs so much I assume. So far, I am LOVING mine.

    Wow, that looked like a messed up hunk of junk in operation! Bang! Seems like it is in need of some serious maintenance! I ended up buying a Proscenic M7 and loving it. It does a great job and doesn’t get stuck on our furniture unlike others ive had. It also has a lot of suction which you can vary, and it sucks up all the dog hair. I just got the auto empty bin and LOVING it!
    BTW Personal opinion on “test validity” ive been seeing a LOT on youtube when it comes to these robot vacuumed:
    i think it is a mistake to test using so many bulky and or heavy objects because that isnt reality at all. They are designed to get DIRT, dust, light paper shreds etc, and that’s what i want it for. I DONT want them to make a NOUISY robot as a trade off so that it can pick up these larger objects people keep using for “test reviews” on you tube, when, those kinds of things are not usually what it is vacuuming, or should be using to vacuum huge spills of uncooked rice etc, which could be easily swept up.

It will sit there and bump into the same spot on the wall as if it can't see. Get's stuck alot, misses entire rooms during mapping and doesn't pick up debris off medium length carpet very well. I should've bought one with LIDAR. Very frustrating watching this thing try to move around a room.

    I have an S9+ - this is my first vacuum robot so I have nothing to compare to. My main issue is when I flip the robot over and press the green tab & pull up to change the rollers, the edge piece does not raise up so that I can get the rollers out. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there a solution?

  • @DonAlan007
    @DonAlan007 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I do agree with some of your performance complaints, however, it's been my experience in talking with robot vac owners, that often their expectations are too high. My Roomba S9+ does not like my thin hallway runner carpets on my hardwood, nor does it like my bathmats. The price of automating a vac in my home means that I do have to prep the home for the vac. Even with a manual vac there is home prep. So is that really a con? The S9+ is performing massively better than the 700 series I used to own. No longer relying on the random "bump around" cleaning, the mapping and wide "D" shipped design gets into corners and my floors are cleaner than I could do with a traditional vac.

That part is not warranted and roomba customer service tells you it's your responsibility to make sure it has clearance to move around. What a joke. Well, i think iRobot must keep the original design, because the D-shape was Neato's idea and iRobot had, has and it will must have it's original design. Just that new sounds or tones are worse than the old ones. Or why they just don't do a new expensive line of Roombas with different sound, Roombas will be still in production, but they will not be expensive, and they will have original sounds and design. I don't want in future D-shaped Roombas. If they will be D-shaped, i will keep every of my 500 series Roomba. When robot has good sidebrush, it don't need D shape.
    Another big iRobot's mistake was discontinuying Scoobas. They were great and still thousand of people want them back. Braavas are great, but Scooba is better.

Overall it is worth the 300-400€ more than the i7. This guy does not know how to set it up or just got a faulty unit. I would say a faulty unit based on the sound the robot makes while cleaning. And also people who buy “expensive” stuff always look for excuses. They will always say how a 50€ vacuum does the same job as a 600€ dyson v11 torque.

    Yeah I don’t like any of these robot vacuums. They are highly overpriced for how much they accomplish. The issue with mine I have and I have the i8, is that it will often kick around crumbs on the hardwood floors with the spin brush instead of picking them up. Crumbs that are near baseboards or close to the legs of chairs it will fail to pick up. You definitely need to keep a normal vacuum around to pick up after it every now and then because none of these units will do a perfect job. But yet, you are out anywhere from $700-$1000 or more. On top of which you need to replace the battery every 2-3 years and buy those little disposable bags.
