  • Do not try this! I do but guarantee it will work and I am not responsible for anything you do.
This brought my dead ipad back to life until I could get it replaced or repaired.

Thank you so very much for this fix. Tech challenged senior here, got a new iPad for Christmas and didn’t realize purchased books didn’t move to new iPad. When instructed to follow steps of course the old iPad refused to boot and I thought old and new were lost forever. I tried your method but with a hair dryer and will send the books as soon as I finish here. Thank you again for your straight forward try this repair!

Oh wow. I literally fixed my dad’s iPad mini 3 which is like 10 years now only because of your video. The iPad screen looked like yours also with the charging symbol for over two weeks now, so that we all thought it “died”. Thank you so so much ❤️❤️

Dude!!!! That totally works! I’ve had a NOT so older (at the time it got stuck) iPad stuck like this for nearly the last two years. It started right up after no more than one minute heating it with a hair driver. I’d already replaced the iPad with a new one, but never threw away the old one in the hopes it could be resurrected. Eureka! Thanks, man!

I noticed ages ago my iPad was having this problem when the room temperature got below about 12 degrees. Whenever I got that screen I started sitting it on top of a warm hot water bottle for a few minutes to gently warm it up and get it back to a better temperature where it would then work again. :-) (The same method works for other devices with similar batteries). Thank you for explaining why this works, I had thought that it was a combination of my battery being old and the house getting too cold, but didn't know it was the battery's safety features kicking in.

Appreciate the video. It definately is helping mine! I have an easy quickie heat source for this: microwave a sock full of rice for 2 minutes (they make great heating pads for aches and pains, which is why I had one handy). Apply to the back of the ipad, moving it around. Same deal; may help someone who doesn’t have your heating device.

This is a funny story. I woke up at 5 AM Saturday morning and realized my daughter‘s iPad was not charging. Her favorite thing to do on Saturday morning is to play her game so I knew it would be sad if she woke up and did not have it. I watched a few videos and it was just the normal things on how to fix it and it would not work. I randomly found myself in the bathroom with the hairdryer. My husband came in the bedroom because he had woken up from falling asleep on the couch, and I turned the hairdryer off because he said it was loud. I came back into the living room and continue to look up videos on my phone, and then this one popped up. My intuition led me to the hairdryer before I found the video.long story short, it works now and thank you brother! I’m sending a huge beam of positive energy and unconditional love your way.❤

If anyone doesn't have a heat gun, hair-dryer, etc, I've had excellent results with laying the ipad on a hot heat pack (like the ones used for aching joints and muscles). My first generation ipad had been in a drawer, totally discharged and unable to start for about 8 years. It booted right up within ten seconds when plugged in and laid screen-up on a wheat filled heat pack! 👍👍

I got my kid's ipod working by using sun light, a good clean out, a bit of electrical tape, and a new cord. It had been dead for years but it is working again. My kid and I are thrilled and excited. I used the sun light to warm up the battery as it is spring here in Australia at the moment but feels like summer.

My iPad screen showed an empty battery with a sliver of red just like the iPad in the video. My iPad was not charging despite being plugged into a working outlet. I placed the back of the iPad in front of a space heater for about 45 seconds until the back was very warm but not hot. When I plugged in the cord it began charging again. Thank you to the person who took the time to make a video sharing this tip.

I thought bringing life back to my old iPad 5th generation would be getting a new battery installed. This trick helped a lot. Thanks! It may need to stay plugged into the power outlet, but it’s come back to life. I haven’t used it in five months since getting a new iPad Pro, but now I’ve got two tablets to use. I seriously thought my old one was too outdated and slow to be used. Not so. It’s screen looked just like yours and showed the same images. I used my hair dryer to heat it up. After this trick it came back to life. This video is great to help folks save money. Thanks again and have a happy new year!

THAnK YOU SOooOo Much!!!!! We used your technique , but with the hairdryer, like you mentioned others have, till it got toasty warm, then we plugged it in screen faced down as you said . And then peeked after a min and it had rebooted and was showing it was charging ! SO happy! Thank you again so sooo much . I thought all the digital art that I was working on was lost forever. I'm going to save/back it up as soon as the ipad is fully charged . Lesson learned. 😅
It's at 4% as I type this ! (literally just did this) Hope this continues to help and work for others as well! Good luck all! 👍

But now knowing I have a problem how often will it lock up and have to be reset or just never allow the battery to run down that low - will avoid having to do that again?

I didn't have any of the above, so I instead gently waved it over my electric oven burner (PLEASE DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME, B/C IF I HAD DROPPED IT OR BURNED MY HAND, OR MELTED THE DARN THING, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MY OWN STUPID FAULT!!) Anyway, with light and gentle movement for about 20 seconds, my IPAD began to work!! Thanks for this hack, as you have saved me about 500 BUCKS!!
