The Scene Vault Podcast -- Harold Holly on Alan Kulwicki, Michael Waltrip's BIG Accidents

- In the first of what will be three installments of our conversation, Harold Holly talks about the impact of hanging out with his PeeWee football coach … and more importantly … that coach’s race car. Harold breaks into the sport with fellow Alabama native Mickey Gibbs.
A break from the sport doesn’t last very long, and Harold winds up doing math on the run for the late, great Alan Kulwicki before going to work for Bahari Racing and driver Michael Waltrip.
And Harold was RIGHT THERE as Michael endured a REALLY tough month in the spring of 1990.

Harold was a blessing to me in December 88 as I attempted to part time at Alan’s shop in Concord driving down from up state NY. Harold schooled me on how to handle myself around Kulwicki. He was probably the reason I barely made it. Among other things I eventually did tires also. Thank you Harold for being my fist mentor in Cup. Billy Ingle also was a great and kind mentor to me in 89.
Always heard the name....awesome to see a legend 🙌
Great interview! Any stories about Alan Kulwicki are gold!
Underbird!
Great interview. Never knew Harold Holly was a fellow Alabamian. He seems like he's a real dedicated worker & speaks from the heart.
Great show.Harold was a pleasure to listen to.Everytime I think wow, that show was the best ever, along comes your next show, and on and on.Ilove the stories of the old guard,as much as I like the racing.Harold is an interesting man.
I agree with Harold. The lessons I learned in the Army are still used in my job today
These interviews are awesome 👍
Your production tech is top shelf now. Congrats.
I really enjoy all these interviews
I so miss Bias Ply. The good ol' days. My memories of Bahari. So many cars in the stable with so little success. And the whole sticker thing made them look less.
Slick50! Engine Restorer! All that crap went in my crankcase back when. My mechanic buddy said I had the cleanest oil at change time...
Harold Was Cool Cat Thanks For Uploading Rick And Steve
We had Fred Wanke for our crew chief on the 42 truck team for a few races in 98-99.He had left Darell Waltrips team at that time
I was at Bristol - it was a scary wreck - everyone assumed he was dead - we cried when they got him out - it was crazy
Good stuff there where's part 2
It will be posted 6 am Wednesday …
