Wow, we hear you, we can do better. Ladies can be romantic but I think there is a complacency that comes with being romantic,that a man stops giving effort. There should be reciprocity from both side. And yes, Eli's dreams as he espressed them lucidly are valid. He might just get that girl of his dreams. I do agree that women need to step up to the plate. Love gives freely. I know for a fact that when you truly love someone, nothing would ever feel out of reach. You'd want to give them the moon.
Honestly, romance can be expressed in many ways in relation to the commitment and maturity the both of you have in that relationship. I would cook you that meal you love, I would make time for you and have that deep conversation. There are men who love nature walks, I can clear my schedule for that. Just study your man and learn exactly what they find comforting. I can even see how Oscar is cringing when Eli explains what romance is to him, so just because we do not light candles doesn't mean we ain't romantic

Women do make the first move many times. Its just more subtle. What we call 'dropping the handkerchief'. You show a guy you are interested but also leave some room for him to pursue.

Believe it or not Oscar I am that hopeless romantic who has done that which Eli described not just once. Yes we do exist but that in my experience was not reciprocated or the man stopped making an effort and I took the role of a mother figure to a spoiled son who expected from me. They had financial capability. I also acknowledge that gifting was not their love language. So now I am here at 40 but I have not given up on love. I am in UK and believe that social limits have delayed/ limited my dating. I enjoy deep intellectual conversations which again are rare in men around. I also factor that most of my type including wanting my man black are married but they can’t be finished. My husband is somewhere out there looking for me still.

Eli! You are describing what I cant wait to do, being romantic with my guy almost as vivid! Just haven't found him yet. So my type!
I know for a fact ladies can be romantic.
Pretty early on, I discovered my primary love language for showing I care was acts of service. I take so much pride and joy in knowing I can show someone I care about that I do by simple acts (occasionally elaborate acts) that make their life a little better / easier / happier.
Now, would I fly my boo to coast for a weekend because he/ she had a hard week? If my financial situation allows then I definitely would.
I'm not here trying to say I'm better than anyone else or I know how to do relationships better (my last one crashed and burned 😅) but I know how much it means to me when someone that cares about me shows it in different ways so I take a lot of pleasure in doing the same for others.
I believe another factor that makes this easier for me is that I'm growing up with a generation of people who are intentionally trying to contribute to the breaking of traditional gender roles.
I'm surrounded by queer, mid-20s creatives in Nairobi. Everything about our existence is already outside the "norm" so we are not as burdened with the heteronormative stereotypes of how it's the guy's job to "take care of her" so it never even crossed my mind when I was with my last boyfriend who's job it is to be romantic. We understood each other's love language and made intentional steps to act accordingly
I do get you coz thats definitely my language of love n i would love to receive the same kind of treatment but unfortunately I don't😕
I have actually dated a woman who was very romantic in this way.
I believe temperaments come into play here... she's an ISFJ (Myers Briggs, check it out if you don't know about it) and this is what they do when they love you... dinner, surprise parties etc.

Girls want to be romantic. But we are only that level of romantic with a man who deserves it, and a man who does the same for us.
I struggled a lot with complimenting in the beginning and my man would pull an Eli lol and stand at the door, try to do the sexy pose, get so close so I can smell him etc. Over time I have leant to compliment it more, and when I don’t, we agreed that he should give me a nudge. But when he does, phew!!!! I am making that man blush !!!

I'm a recent subscriber so I just watched this video and I believe y'all have just been meeting the wrong people coz I know so many ladies who give more than they take in relationships since they're just romantics.
