Dave has a sort of magnetic charm that only comes across when you see him perform. When I see him in pictures I tend to think, what's all the fuss about? But in recordings you realise this overwhelming charisma that he has, that all of them have. Unbelievable talent, amazing band.
Birgit Weigelt Think about it, if Martin wrote the lyrics for us to sing, we don't even know how to start off, Thanks to Dave of his ideas, Martin Gore the greatest lyrics, Alan Wilder the greatest keyboard synthesizer university, and Andy Fletcher
Indeed, so innocent yet so powerful. I hope that I am wrong, but I do not think we will ever hear this live again in our lifetime. It is one my faves as well. "And I'll try not to kiss you," imagine how things have changed. Peace and love,
Slim River, Malaysia - 1984. Attending English course before studying in the US. Listening to 'See You' like a million times a day on the cassette. Came across the word 'fundamentally' and didn't know what it meant. When I did, I started changing the lyrics to 'People are fundamentally the same' :-)
@sastal you 're right !! things have changed !!.. The people, the needs .. Everything .. "Well I'll try not to hold you And I'll try not to kiss you And I won't even touch you" .. Nowadays ? noway ..
I agree for sure, but there are others close in the ranks for me. Vince Clarke's work after Depeche Mode (Erasure, Yazoo) , Pet Shop Boys, New Order/Joy Division, Electronic, and Orchestral Manouvers in the Dark.
To say the truth, Martin's lyrics were quite a lot petty at the time. But it's justified by his youth. Don't know if he's proud of this lyrics nowadays...

This is an incredibly insightful description which perfectly articulates his on stage presence.
Dann ist der Stier in Bewegung und nur so kann er Wertvolle Energie Übertragen und nur so 😊🌠

Martin can be proud of all his songs and lyrics. He is a brilliant songwriter. I think he is the best songwriter in the world.

InvisbleCaller Yes!
@@InvisbleCallerAndy Flatcher for what?
Without the sound and music composition of Alan Wilder DM was almost nothing
@@TheAMGproduction Indeed. Alan Wilder made it way better turning Depeche Mode into darker music

One of my favourite Depeche Mode songs and great lyrics.Top band.
Alan Wilder Keyboardist Extraordinaire .
The effect the backing vocals have on "Though I think I still love... you..." are amazing! They seem to have some pretty nice performances in Hamburg!
Yes! I've been waiting for this to make a reappearance on TH-cam. They're electrifying live. Thanks for this!

Quite a "tough" vocal by Dave when compared to the very gentle recorded version!

...and 90's ;)
Why, is there anyone who dares to say otherwise ...

@sastal why do you say that? there is something wrong with this song? they hate it?
Viva Gore!

Энди Флэтчер с самого начала прое...лся... А я думал только спустя много лет. Чем он вообще занимается в депеш мод?
