WINTER CAMPING BUSHCRAFT - Chaga Tea - Chilli Con Carne - Bushcraft

  • Winter camping overnight on a simple tarp, set up as the traditional finish loue shelter. For clarity, I did not bring a sleeping bag and I did not get any sleep whatsoever. I fed the fire all night to stay warm. Why? because I wanted to show you that is possible in case you ever get lost in the woods in winter time. Its a lot of work and it sucks if you are actually lost. But in my case it was still hard work but fun.
In this video I also harvest and prepare some chaga tea and cook a hearty chilli con carne on my trusted dutch oven to keep me going all night.
I hope you all have a merry Christmas and a Happy new year. Thanks again for your viewership and continued support!
    Ric

You need to talk more. Tell us what you are doing and why

    • @NagualeroArt
      @NagualeroArt  6 ปีที่แล้ว +41

I apologize if I don't talk enough. That might change in the future, but for now my personal preference I guess, is to do it as I am doing it. I am not trying to be mysterious or anything idiotic as such. If a picture is worth a thousand words, I believe a video can be worth a million words.
I talk when I need to add to those visual clues. I enjoy being out there, I love the sounds of nature, and that's one of the main things I want to share. Not my voice over it, or explaining everything I do word by word. I have personally learned more from watching everything I want to learn over the years, than listening through out my whole life. I am not implying that's the right way, it's just the way I find more efficient for what I am doing.
Bla bla bla only kills the mood for me most of the time. With rare exceptions, I find myself getting annoyed at my own long explanations on videos and most of others on TH-cam.
Thank you so much for your input though. May I suggest that, If you want more explanatory channels, TA outdoors or Joe Robinet are great channels to watch. I love them both. They do it well.
Happy new year and thanks for the feedback :-)

Hell no we have enough youtubers that flap their gums to much. The video and picture explains more then words. It's also relaxing and quiet how the woods should be. You also see more wildlife that way.

"Old Style" Camping, just like we did in Scouting 50 years ago. So refreshing to see someone that knows how to actually prepare a Nice Hot Meal, with real food, and not pour something out of a pouch into Hot Water! A real Professional Chef! Also it's nice to watch and listen, to the sounds of the wilderness, and not some chowder head with his yak, yak, yak! Thank You for the Outstanding Camping Video. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Oh my gravy! You are right about the music on TH-cam Channels it is overbearing and drives me nuts sometimes it is so loud even with the volume down you can not enjoy the show itself...So I am also grateful he doesnt do this cause I have removed channels for this no matter how good the channel.

Nice movie again. I like your style.
Chaga is my favorite drink. I drink it everyday if I can. It calls power drink in Alaska.
I have been very sick in many years now. But after I cut out carbohydrates and drink Chaga and Pine and Spruce needles I get much better and I have stopped using medicine.
I eat meat, fish, fat and birds. Some vegetables that grows over the soil.
Those have a little amount of carbohydrates.
Thank you for sharing your moments with us.
Best wishes from Arve Herman Tangen and Monika Kjeldstad 👍🇳🇴🇳🇴👍

I sincerely hope the New Year is going well for you, Sir. I love your videos and I always pick up an educational point while watching them. That tarp set up, the plow point, is my favorite configuration. I've never had chago tea and that was ingenious how you cut a piece out of that burl (?). I replaced my paper clip "chain" for hanging my kettle with a length of toilet reservoir chain but still used the Nite-Ize S-biner to hang the kettle. OMG. I wanted to reach out and ladle some of that incredible chili out of the pot. Great video!

And fine you, too. Imagine if there were a law man looking over a caveman’s shoulder every time he went to messing with fire. We would have never made it as a species.

In an emergency green birch will burn. I’ve woke up many a night at 03-0400 shivering with cold using minimal kit. Nothing beats a hot Swiss miss chocolate drink, but hot water has also worked just fine. For winter camping I bring a 3 cup thermos. I fill it with boiling water before I retire at 2300, and again either after breakfast or lunch depending on what I’m doing. Ramen makes a great calorie and hot hydration addition to the day. My core food is always precooked meat in the cold weather or Summer sausage, cheese, crackers or bannock ( gilet), cashews or pistachios, dried raisins and apricots, tea, coffee, .hot choc. Non cooked food has been a real help as a main or emergency ration. Some trips I cook more, some not at all. I’ve done traditional woods skills for decades. I’m using a small collapsible aluminum Coleman gelled fuel stove for gelled fuel or wood, less impact. I’m also trying the Swiss M71 gelled fuel stove, so far I like it and it’s easy to refill. We have a fire ban in the Spring. Sometimes its to hot in the Summer to have a fire, and some times I don’t have enough water to put a large fire out before I leave. Half shelters are cold to sleep in, but nice to rest or work in. I liked your vid.
