- More than a year has passed since the construction of the dacha plot began. A lot of things have been studied. Some things work out and some things don't. There is a small cabin, a shed and a toilet on the property. In the beginning it seemed that this is not a real plan, because I have never built anything before. Now I know for sure that if you want something, you have to try and it will all work out.

You have done a beautiful job building and creating your homestead. Woodworking is in your heart and soul. My Dad taught me when I was very young with the tools you use, and I still would rather use them. Please don't lay the wood planes you have on their metal plate. Lay them on their side or hang them from a hook. If there is any moisture in the wood, it could rust the plate. If the blade is down, it can rust that too or dull the sharpness. Thank you for bringing back so many of my memories.

APPEARS pencil is sharpened at one end. Tip from my carpenter dad . . . Sharpen both ends. Can then use it no matter how ya grab it. Excellent work with the dowel joinery! Congrats on the projects!!

P.S. - I was wondering how come you put the wood storage on the shed wall away from the cottage and not on the wall that is facing the cottage but than it came to me: perhaps is because of the direction of the wind/rain. Thank you very much! The placement of the firewood is not related to any reason. I just wanted to place them closer to the chopping area so there would be less debris near the cabin

Are you going to add a water source moving forwards? A tank of some kind or rain catchment system, it seemed to rain a lot there. I think we could all use a cabin in the middle of a forest.

We were always told never to use pine in a stove as the sap builds up on the chimney pipe and causes a chimney fire. You do amazing work.

Black tank on the roof (10-20l) in form of sealed pipe will be enough to do shower. Had one on top of my truck.

He may have build the cabin by himself and obviously has a lot of 😢natural talent.. And by just watching, not knowing, I think it might be safe to say he has some carpenters in his family, where he got advice..and suggestion. Plus he probably watched hours and hours of videos. And yes he did a beautiful job..
