  • The Tipi Diaries Ep10 - Winter Canping In a Canvas Tent and a Wood stove in the winter boreal forest wilderness in Sweden. Read more below...
On this episode i build a much needed clothes drying rack. I could not walk around without snow shoes anymore so there is a bit of snowshoeing in this tipi diaries episode. I also show you the contents of one of my food chests while hanging inside the tentipi and how i stop my food in the winter while camping. I share with you some of my paintings that i did recently and eventually i also share with you a painting session that did not go so well but was fun anyways, ended up trying the DDhammocks super light hammock that I received for free to try it and did a little cooking with the bushcraft essentials pocket bushbox. At the end i answer questions from episode 8 and 9.
Enjoy hanging out with us outdoors in the beautiful Swedish wilderness :-)

Another great episode! Thank you Ric for answering my question! I introduced my Dad to the Tipi Diaries and he really enjoys watching your adventures also. Thanks again for sharing, I do really appreciate your efforts and time you take to bring us into your world.

Hi Rick! I love your videos! The night camp scenes are so relaxing. I have been camping in a hot tent for 20 years and understand your descriptions of the pleasures you experience. One cautionary statement: There are 2 well documented symptoms of "Winter Tent Fever". 1. When a guy in Sweden announces he has a G spot. 2. When the same guy announces he loves your sausage. And you knew right away what you said...! But too late! Keep up the good work. Your painting of the tent was amazing!

In the Q&A-section there was a question about being on your own. Thanks for your answer. Very good.
It reminded me of a quote by Samuel Johnson: "If you are idle, be not solitary, if you are solitary, be not idle."
    Fits the Tipi-Diaries, too.

Another great episode Ric, thank you! Love those paintings brother, wow! It was fun to watch you make your drying rack, and to see the steam coming off, well done my friend! ...and as always, Woof to Petrus!

My favorite episode so far (and i have enjoyed the previous 9). Loved the sped up footage of your painting with an excellent musical choice. I have enjoyed the high camera angles while in the tipi, love your times with your dog, great balance between speaking and quiet reflection footage.

I'm still going through this back catalogue Ric, you need to make a TV series man... totally enjoying them... I know they are 2015/2016 and you've moved on but I just love this series. Will let you know when I've finished the next 9 or 10. Lee (Burton Outdoors)

Astonishing! I am enjoying these far more than all the how-to stuff on youtube, simply because it reflects skills being used daily and in real-time, real-life. Sweden is so beautiful, going there is a dream of mine. I'm happy to see you doing this, and even happier that you're filming it. And I think that isn't a tentipi, I think it's a tenTARDIS, it seems much bigger on the inside.
Questions: How do you keep your iPad from freezing????? (Mine gets cranky when it's out in the cold for long.)
How long have you been bushcrafting, and are you self-taught? Obviously you have an excellent library there with you, but did you have a mentor?

Maestro, thank you for answering my questions which I agreed with you. By watching all your tipi diary, the questions I have answered by other people's questions so I enjoy watching and listening. Since I have seen you with out the snow and with snow, how long are you plan on staying? I like what you said about chosen for solitude, I'm the same way. By watching you, doing, knowing what to do and having time alone makes a true man.
    thx for sharing.

Do you ever put a silhouette of yourself or of yourself and the dog in with background pictures of your paintings I think that would pretty be pretty awesome especially when you're painting take a picture of it and paint it would be awesome

Nice to see you've been making time to paint. I'm with lassekongo83, I would like to see what kind of latrine set up you have for those -20 days. Also how far is it from camp? When you are tying knots and lashing branches, can you talk about what knots you are using and your lashing technique?

How come the Tipi Diaries paintings aren't on your website? Loving your series. I came across the Tentipi at a moto/overland rally. really spendy stuff, but i'm in love. Thank you for sharing your adventure!

One thing I've been wondering since you started this in October is did you and your dog get any ticks back then? Southern Sweden is full of ticks from April to November. Also I hope you can show your latrine area, how it's built etc if there's anything to show. Always nice and relaxing to watch these episodes.

An additional question. Do you have any way of checking the water you get from the stream for chemical contamination?

Be careful with fire blanket. Many have been known to be carcinogenic at higher temps but I wouldn't recommend using at any temp without proper respiratory protection. Especially in enclosed areas. I live and work in the US so material may differ from Europe. Something to think about at least.

  • @horstweber3659
    @horstweber3659 4 ปีที่แล้ว

How does the material of the Tipi cope with the temperature differences?
You mentioned: outside -20°C, inside +25°C. So, a thin canvas copes with 45°C difference on a layer of a few millimeters?
