Dude I just beat the hell out of mine and dinted it all up and came in and watched your video. I really really appreciate this video. I’m going tomorrow to get pvc and a new cap. This video as very much appreciated.
I spent 15-20 minutes trying to get a dust cap on a wheel bearing. I was thinking that I had the wrong size dust cap. I used a caliper to determine that it was the right size, but I still couldn't fix it. I found this video and tried it. It took less than 5 seconds to get it on. I could not get over how simple it was using your method. Thank you for sharing, because I would still be beating on it otherwise.
So easy. Was getting frustrated for about 10min then thought someone on TH-cam must have a trick for it. Well done found a piece of pipe and literally two whackes and it was in. 5sec tops. Cheers mate good video
Thank you for the video. Saved me $30.00 not buying a dust cover tool. Instead, I spent a little over $2.00 for a 2” PVC connector at Home Depot and it worked great.
I struggled with a cheap flimsy new cap for an hour and gave up after I rimmed the POS. I then picked up the old cap from the trash can and it went right in.
Man I’ve been fighting with the caps on a log splitter so far have wasted $40 on two sets as I get in the groove and start hammering harder which in return dents them up big time.
I knew I could use a piece of pipe but I didn't even think about PVC. That's definitely going to save some money at Home Depot. Thank you! I also didn't think about using grease either.
My caps are 2.44. The REAL issue are the junk chinese caps. The ones I got mic-ed 2.469 and 2.480. Short of using a hydraulic press they aren't going on. I'll go hunt down a 2.5 PVC pipe and give it one more try.

Worked flawless. Thank you so much.

This man is a genius.
Can you do this with the wheel already on?

"You've probably spent the last 20 minutes fighting with yours"
Man, don't call me out like that
What size pipe?

Glue a cap on the pvc and hit that instead of the wood a dead blow hammer works very nice
Mine are tight drove in perfect still flew off
You need a bigger hammer! LOL
Hahahah. I’ve done it with sledges but I only had a PT 2x4… would have split way faster. Hahah.
