I am the lucky guy who commissioned this, and this board is wicked. The quality is top notch and the game board is super playable, with very few awkward spots. But even better, i can say hand on heart, Hamish is the most professional, friendly, and just all round top bloke to have asked to make this.
Great video, really enjoyed it and learned a lot! As a heads up, some of the links in the description don't work and I also couldn't find the store link. Thanks for the video, looking forward to the next one!
thanks for the heads up! I'm still new to TH-cam and trying to figure this stuff out as I go 😅 this is the link to our Etsy store - www.etsy.com/au/shop/BattleGamesStudio?ref=seller-platform-mcnav
This is very beautiful but i think its surface looks more suited as a display board, rather than gaming. I can easily see models failing to stand there. Lovely job though!
It looks great. But.... Semi-professional model maker here. Some of your techniques were probably a little more complicated than they needed to be, but if it works, it works! Now, a completely nerd-related comment; If this board is set in the Southlands of Mordor, than you got your color pallet wrong. Nurn is the breadbasket of Mordor. It's the only portion of the Black Lands that isn't a horrible, ash choked dump. It is populated by orcs and thousands of human slaves who grow all the food that Sauron's armies need to eat. It is a green and lush countryside. The north of Morder around Orodruin and Barad-Dur and the entire plateau of Gorgoroth (as well as a good portion of the country to the east along the upper arm of the Ephel Lithui (The Mountains of Ash)) are gonna be a blasted wasteland like what you built. Sorry. Nerded out a bit there. Good built in any case.
Hey thanks for the comment! would love to know your thoughts on what techniques i could simplify as i am always looking to learn and progress my skills. As for the location i was working with a clients vision for the tones of the board and also couldn't find many reference photos for Nurn. but awesome to know the lore for this :)
I think you're describing lands that aren't exactly well know in very absolutist terms. This was based from the Southlands closest to where the ash would still fall from mount doom.
Awesome video!!!
Bloody Beautiful mate.
Keen as a bean for more of this

plenty more in the works! 🤟

I own this board and i can absolutely say it is 95% playable with very few surfaces that are awkward to stand models on.
Amazing stuff!!
Can’t wait to see more ❤

I love the video and how in-depth you've shown off everything!
thank you! I try my best to be transparent with the whole proses as I am always learning as I go :)
Love the video man. The amount of imagination that informed how you planned the board was brilliant to see, hope you do more of these videos!
thanks! I am working on making plenty more!
the cracked earth sections look brilliant.
thank you! I use this technique again in my upcoming board but i put lava underneath!
Looking so damn good man !! It will be cool of you can add videos more often 🙏🏻
thanks! I will be adding more videos as often as I can! I'm still learning how to edit so it is a very slow proses at the moment. 🥲
awesome, you make it look really easy
I don't show the hours i spend just staring at it thinking 🤔
