How to build Khazad-Dûm in the mines of Moria Dioram / gaming terrain

- If you have been watching Amazon Prime The Rings Of Power series, then you will see Elrond visit Durin in the early days of the Mines of Moria and Khazad-Dûm!! The bridge of Khazad-Dûm in time becomes the focal point for one of the most epic battles in Middle Earth, Gandalf versus Durins Bane, The Balrog. This video has just become relevant once again. So I hope you find it entertaining.
In this video I continue on in with my journey in to the Mines Of Moria from The Lord Of The Rings. This project was a collaboration build where my job was to build on some pre existing terrain to complete a fully playable Mines of Moria and Bridge of Khazad Dum terrain gaming board for table top games like Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game and DND.

@@RPRsChannel Because my crafting storage space is already limited. I am working out of my kitchen and my wife doesn't want 5 gallon tubs laying around the place. I buy what I need as I go, its a small price to pay for my wife's sanity.

@@RPRsChannel haha I guess I could save a little... but with 3D printers, wash and cure stations, Proxon hotwire foam cutter, cameras, lights and various pieces of large terrain taking up space in our kitchen, I'd say she is already being pretty reasonable. lol

Yeah man! Its constantly changing. Although all the older techniques still have tons of value. I like the new marriage of materials thats happening these days, slice and slot being case in point ;)

I got directed to this video by The Broken Sword. I am not really into making models but I was fascinated just watching you build that entire set from scratch. You use organic material to texture inorganic things such as rocks and stones. Very cool concept. And I will never ever look at a piece of bark on the ground the same way as I did before seeing this video. lol Thanks, it was very enjoyable.

wow, one of the coolest collab/large scale builds I've seen for a while! The 3 stairs at the entry way was my favourite design element, flexible for gameplay and stylish to the eye.

Very nicely done! Having just recently crawled through Moria, AGAIN, with the Lord of the Rings online game, it brought back many fine memories. Also goes to show that, building your own 3D scenarios is 100% more fun than your typical 2D cardboard gaming maps, makes those game sessions far more enjoyable.

Here's a link to a short movie I did the special FX for, each frame was done individually requiring 5 layers to do the rotoscoping in photoshop by hand one frame at a time....
a mammoth task !.. particularly as it was 30 frames per second , it took bloody ages !!

Such a great build! I love the darker treatment of the mine's interior compared to the exit exterior. You really illustrate the practicality of using jigs too!

Hi pal. I just wanted to say a big thanks cuase i was going to buy live edge shelves for my bedroom which can be quite expensive but then you showed te bark which i then saw on amazon so now im getting mdf shelves and i will glue the tree bark to the edges and save some cash. CHEERS

Start on something small! It really doesn't take as much time and effort as you might think. Check out my channel for the standing stones tutorial, very easy and not too time consuming. Once you have done one you will realise ;)

I am currently making a massive 3 ft by 6 ft Moria build from east gate to khazad dum. So of course I had to see this build. Bark is a nice trick. Love your attention to detail. Hope you enjoy the hobby as I do and take time to use that awesome terrain with friends.

@@Nat1videos sadly no. Similar to your situation I got back into the hobby this year. I had about five hundred games workshop models sitting around with very little terrain and a lot of time...I do plan on making a youtube or instagram page to display all my modelling terrain.
