Just got my Classic Beaufort for 269€ 🥳 I've watched nearly every of your barbour videos and I chose the Beaufort over the bedale Just because of the outer chest Pocket 😃 Keep Up the great Videos ✌🏽
Hey Olaf! Due to your reviews, I've made the decisions to buy a B. Bedale and it's wonderful. Thank you very much and keep going with your good reviews.
I just bought two Beaufort ( classic /olive and the Sage one )after watch this great barbour analise! I bought from UK( online) to deliver in Italy.Great work Olaf
Hi Olaf2046! You are definitely right about wearing the Barbour Beaufort in 0 degrees F. I live in Stockholm Sweden and during winter season my primary jacket is the Barbour Northumbria with layers of shirt, lambwool Barbour New Tyne crew neck sweater and the Barbour zip in liner. I can easily be outside in -22 degrees C for hours.
You're correct about the formal business attire and the paring that with a Barbour jacket. I remember when I was going to school and taking the train to New York City, I'd see whole armies of business folk, all wearing Barbour jackets over their business suites. I say "armies" because there was a substantial amount of them, daily.
Nice video All the original Barbours are brilliant. Bedale Beaufort Moorland Gamefair International. Some of the newer ones are no longer made in the uk. Now come as fashionable tighter fitting. Not the same . Also as you mentioned original ones are 6oz material and heavyweight 8oz. Raglan sleeves and no seams to let water in. The game pockets are excellent for storage of quarry and as you mentioned totally waterproof. Mine get a coating of wax 2 to 4 times a year as here in uk ,rains a lot . 2 way zips are a blessing. Farming shops sell them at great discount prices from 200 uk pounds or less . My personal favourite is the original International with the belt taken off, heavyweight and slightly shorter.
Hi Olaf2046 - love your video reviews. I'm looking to get my first Barbour and I'm leaning toward the Beaufort. If you had to choose and you were only buying one, would you get the size that looks fitted with minimal layering or would you size up even if that means it looks oversized when wearing minimal layers (anything less than big sweaters or a suit jacket).
Hey 0LAF2046!! Thanks a lot for your great videos! They helped me a lot before buying my first wax jacket! I just got a Bedale for me, and I wanted to know if there are any specific instructions to store it in the wardrobe. Thank you so much for your attention and participation.
Can you make a video on how to wash / care for this wax jacket? It says "use cold water only" on the official website, but no laundry detergent? Wouldn't it become smelly, dirty, or be stained with blood inside the pockets(if it was worn during hunting game)? Thanks Olaf
Other brands like what? Filson does a few wax outerwear and in the UK and Europe has a variety of lesser know brands that specialized in Wax outerwear. Millerain being one that I reviewed years ago on this channel. But currently for modern-day general usage of a wax outwear piece there is NO close competitor to the jackets Barbour produces in this budget range.
@@olaf2046 I'm not sure what is available in the US , Hawkes and walkers are a cheaper brand , but still good quality, Bellstaff and Burberry tend be more expensive then Barbour . I'm not sure if I waxed cotton tends to be a British thing , but I was surprised that the US has not tried to compete with Barbour . Im a creature of habit and stick with the brand like I do with Brasher ,an English brand , who make good quality but affordable walking boots
Preference is very subjective. IMHO Barbour sets the standard for the waxed jacket. So, why would I want a different brand? As much as I enjoy having them I only have two (a Beaufort Thornproof and a Bedale Classic...they are both great!). I like the style of both jackets and really like the Barbour style. However, I cannot justify purchasing another when I don't need another waxed jacket. I enjoy both jackets but I wear the Beaufort more often because that poacher pocket comes in very handy. 🙂
@@nycjake4553 The pros with Barbour imo over other brands are the amount of styles in the same waxed cotton material, I recently bought Beaufort and yes the pocket is like the size of a small back pack. I've owned the duke as well as the race parka. Then there's Bristol, the Beadle , Corbridge , Ashby , just to name a few. Another pros is the price . My new, without tags Beaufort cost just £105 . I've also owned a Race parka and a Duke which with it's patina fetched £85 on eBay . I've also owned a Dryzabone full length coat ,which imo was every bit as good as Barbour .
And in the 6th day, God invented the letter 'G'. It means that folding, holding, wearing aren't pronounced as folidin' holdin' etc Or talkin' isn't really annoying (annoyin')
Classic. You can tell from the interior tartan color. And the outside olive color as well, but that sometimes can be similar to the sage green of the non-classic versions. Best way to tell is from the tartan lining.

Looks good on you man. I have similar one from my dad and it's about 15 years old. It's an investment for sure.

It would be great to hear your thoughts on this particular model.

good job man
Is this one made in the UK ?
Yes
Bunchs and bunchs of videos on barbour waxed jackets, but no one has done a comparison with other brands.

I'm here. I drive a 2010 mini Cooper s, a 2003 BMW 330xi, and a 1995 BMW 530it
Looks a size to small
Disagree. Looks fine to me
please send me a barbour jacket please :(
Looks too small mate
Looks fine
4 layers underneath! Had it just been a t-shirt it might of been to big
