Train Simulator 2021 - Route Learning: London Waterloo to Portsmouth Harbour (Class 450) // 1440p

  • In this episode of the route learning series, we head back into Train Simulator 2021 for a long overdue journey on this channel, between London Waterloo and Portsmouth Harbour. The scenario is set in summer 2017, and we follow the timetable of train 1P55, the 17:30 departure from London Waterloo, calling at Woking, Worplesdon, Guildford, Godalming, Haslemere, Petersfield, Havant, Fratton, Portsmouth & Southsea, and Portsmouth Harbour.
    This is unfortunately a very demanding route to run, which means there will be a lower FPS than usual and a fair bit of lag until we get south of Wimbledon - especially around the Clapham Junction area.

    Thank you for another entertaining video.
    I assume that 'driving' the yellows as far as Woking was a train ahead that was going to continue on the Main line to Basingstoke and beyond.
    Then, it may or may not be 'built' into the scenario for the yellows between Woking and Haslemere but, in real life, there is a stopping train to Portsmouth that leaves Waterloo 15 minutes before this fast service. And, the way the timetable 'works' is that stopping service waits at Haslemere and 'allows' the fast service to pass. But if the stopping service is running late then the yellows will 'happen.'

    Incredible accuracy and detail in the trackside scenery and landscape. Guildford Station looks like exactly what it does in real life. I could see Guildford Cathedral in the background on another Waterloo-Portsmouth simulation video. Just after you pass Milford Station, looking out the window to the left I can see the fishing lake I go to in real life.
    Out of curiosity, could you simulate, for example, a 50 mph collision into the buffers at Portsmouth Station?

    Hello, great video, thank you for adding the description through the screen recording as to exactly what’s what for your visually impaired viewers, is it possible for you to do London Waterloo to Weymouth, either the one stopping at Woking, Winchester, Southampton Airport Parkway EC or if not that one, the one stopping at Clapton Junction, Basingstoke, Winchester, Southampton Airport Parkway ATC? I’d also be interested to see if the 444 divides at Bournemouth like it doesn’t real life on the game.

    11:56 So if the power is on, the train is accelerating. If the power is cut the train is coasting (slowing). How do you keep a constant 50mph for example? The accelerator in my car is variable, why do trains have notched levels of power?

    • @Rabbitrumble434
      @Rabbitrumble434 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      As an actual driver for SWR I drive this route regularly as am a Fratton driver, notch 2 generally keeps your speed constant unless going down hill in which case you coast, but on a 1papa express you Han actually shut off as you pass liphook and you can coast all the way down to peters field without taking power and the gradient will slow the train for speed changed without having to touch PBC and the same goes for when you get through Buriton Tunnel if you get to top of hill after tunnel at 40mph and shut off you can coast down to Havant without taking power! This route is very nice to actually drive in real life 😎

      I googled it, and I'm very surprised to read that this is the way to provide electricity to the train. I had always thought that electrivity was only provided by an overhead catenary cable.

  • @Hertfordshire247
    @Hertfordshire247 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is that a NWR policy then re the speed limits? On LU, like a road, when you hit the speed limit sign for example that says "50" such as on the Met line, this means it is now safe to increase to that speed, if you're going straight over the junction. If the junction requires you to slow down, the signal will have ATP E.G. Baker Street. If you're going to fast, the tripcock will apply the brakes (brought about by the awful Moorgate crash). If you need to cross the junction, you'll have two signs next to each other (or a sign with an arrow underneath it informing you which section of track it refers to) both on their own roundel, again such as at the "Watford Curve" of the Met line where to go left or carry on to Baker Street it reads "20 50" or carry on a bit further where you will only find "60" on the Met line, to cross to the slow line (all station Baker Street/Aldgate) or carry on (fast service Baker Street/Aldgate) again, both on their own roundel "25 60".
    Unfortunately, it was 70mph in the good ol' days of the "A" stock and it was a sad day when we said goodbye to the last one.
    I worked on the Met line from 2010-2017 and loved every minute of it.

    • @gwyneddboom2579

    • @leedavis66
      @leedavis66 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know two train drivers who work for Southern. The procedure described in the video is correct and as @gwynedd boom stated, is due to varying train lengths. It's apparently not as difficult as it sounds once you get used to it.
