    Creative in your upholstering. Ditto on using a different scrap piece for the backs (maybe some old blue jeans) to spread the primary fabrick for the cushions. Love the color fabric!!! I'll really blend well.

    The plastic covering on the pillows was to help them slide the pillow cover on at the factory. I use that trick to get my cushion covers back on when I wash them at home... I just remove mine when I’m done...

  • @mele9627

    Everything is looking fab! Just wanted to mention a couple of things...hoping that they might be helpful. Re buttons:. ( If you want the 6th button).you could use a piece of cardboard or ply to make another round. Make a little "t" section with a match stick to keep the yarn from pulling through the new button. Cover with foam or fabric. You won't be able to tell the difference. Re fabric scissors:of course it goes without saying, these are your tools and you may use them how you wish. But, if you want your scissors to glide through your various fabrics when you are creating sewing projects, They should only be used for that purpose. When using them for deconstruction, the blades may end up warped, nicked or with glue on them. They will be difficult to cut seamlessly. Fabric scissors are generally not even used to cut the tissue paper patterns used for sewing. Can't wait to see the next installment. Great job. Love the content.

    I so needed this video!
    Our couch was sat in by the same 4 adults for 28 years. It’s now like sitting in a toilet and you feel the bars!
    We wanted to take it out and put in a futon but it covers all of the ducts. 🤨
    I know how to do box cushions and I already did those in the dinette but this couch is... it’s bad!
    I’m getting my brainstorming watching you redo yours!
    We will have to back on how you two removed it. What a process it will be!

    I did a lot of upholstering. When I had to do something like you’ve done on the seat of the couch, I usually fill the cracks like you did if I am not putting more buttons or changing the place of the buttons and then put an extra foam all over it like 1 to 2 inches thick and then you will not see the old form of the seat through the new material. Love the color with your throw cushions in the other colors you have, it will be beautiful. Your NB.... follower

  • @leal536
    @leal536 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    My mother did a lot of upholstery back in the day. She did a number of antiques that were pretty disgusting!! One thing she always did, however, was cover old foam with a lightweight muslin just to protect the final fabric cover. I realize that you might not have muslin available at this time but in the event that you need to recover the "think couch" in the future, you might want to consider that.

    My boys were born in 1979 & 1981. So y'all make me feel old! LOL I would put the fabric over the pillow back, tuft the buttons thru the cushion and then wrap the pillows & back at one time to save some fabric. Not sure if you were planning to use that fabric in other places in the camper. I'm probably no helps either since I'm reading this so late! Hope it all came together! Oh, you can use coat hanger or wire to thread the button strings thru. HUGS~Donna
