Your Jack-knife couch looks Sharp! (pun intended lol ) Funny story, back in the 80's, around 86, I went furniture shopping with my brother and his wife. They bought a couple pieces of big, bulky, comfortable furniture and it had the exact same fabric as the original fabric on your couch. Years later, in 1999 my brother was getting rid of that SAME furniture. Your's truly got it and kept it in my cabin for another 9 years before finally giving in and buying new. I did take the chair apart and salvage the arms because the wood was So pretty. Still have those pieces of wood, to this day, out in my garden. 34 years.

When things open up a bit get some Scotch stain guard spray to spray on Jack. It will really help with that light fabric in keeping it clean.

I recommend using safety classes when stapling and removing staples. A friend of mine actually lost an eye to a flying staple. Just a recommendation. Love how everything is coming out.

Aw it's totally amazing. Well done folks. It looks brilliant. Every time I hear you call it the thinking couch I keep meaning to remind you of a book I read - it's beautiful. It was called "Grannie Perkins' Thinking Cap". Whenever Grannie Perkins heard of someone having "troubles" (illness, hard for money etc) she would sit in her rocking chair with her lace bonnet (her thinking cap) on her head that she carefully took out of a box that she kept safely on a shelf for such occasions. She once had her neighbours build a fairground from rubbish when the kids were bored on their summer holidays. That's how I see you guys with your "Thinking Couch". You should try to get your hands on the book if you can. One to read over and over and pass down through generations to come. The kids will love it too I bet. It was my daughter's bedtime story about five times in a row!! She loved it as much as me. It's kept safe now for when/if ever grankids arrive years from now but I must take it out again myself.

My mom has a tip for the corners. Tac one corner down then the opposite corner. That way there is constant tension especially if there is a pattern or "thread" look in the fabric.
That looks awesome and very comfortable. Now we can tackle the cushions around the table. This makeover is going to be a load of memories for your family to enjoy for the rest of your lives.💕💖💕💖
Of the work surface, as you pull up, push in & pull the fabric with your other hand, hold in place & staple!! I personally don't like folds & the corners because dust etc gets trapped in the fold & they just do not make a "tool" small enough to get in there to remove it! When you pull the corner of your fabric over the corner of the piece, turn your stapler so that it points towards the opposite corner, put in A couple Staples, then pull the fabric from side to side @ the corners, stapling as you go, slightly turning the position of the stapler so as to catch the as you work towards the sides/ends!! It makes very nice, clean edges & will hold it's position much longer!! You guys are doing A really amazing job with every endever. Kudos to the both of you! Now, take A Bow!!!

Use button thread, it’s so much stronger and you can pull hard on it. I make fabric pumpkins and I have to pull the opens closed and I wouldn’t be able to use regular thread. Love love the couch 🥰
